Derf says he will stay by her during class if she'd like *can head canon stuff* and points out that as strict and firm as the man is...he secretes capability and knowledge in the subject and that counts for something.

I'm sure she'd appreciate Derf!solidarity *nods* And I think she knows this, but then even with Hirsch she had moments where she froze so that's more what she's afraid of?

And, re: the greeting thing, she still is going with the idea that he didn't reprimand her for greeting him at the first SORE exercises, plus the Divination debacle, therefore she says greetings are exempt from the "no speaking until one's spoken to" rule.

This 'no speaking until spoken to' rule is really doing my head in. Daisy thinks that the rule should be changed to "Students can greet the Professor but don't interrupt the lesson" or something like that. It is getting nerve-wracking attending lessons and worrying about properly greeting teachers. Apart from that, I kind of like the little drama.

Scrimgeour has the same 'do not speak unless spoken to' rule as Fletcher. It's in the DADA Guidelines thread (Regina's rules were crossed off and he put his in). *points*

General rule of thumb: read the rules/expectations threads if you aren't sure. Otherwise, just roll with whatever because it's all in good fun.

See being as it isn't the first lesson.... Bel would KNOW not to greet then (and I did read the rules but they were expected to greet in other no speaking classes), and honestly its not that clear not to GREET the professor.... so idk how to respond in a way that IC makes sense unless I edit my original post to say that Bel did it on purpose cos she wanted to run to warm up *chinstroke emoji* but then she's not a natural rulebreaker, or someone who forgets rules either. Hmmm hmmmm hmmm how to post?

tbh, this is why I've fallen back on Stas's belief that "There wasn't any disapproval when she'd greeted him before the first SORE exercise and Fletcher had punished people for not greeting him so it was an educated guess that the same goes for DADA" going into the lesson. And now, this has changed.

I have a question regarding the owls being checked in and out of the school! Just how much is being confiscated! I have a character being home schooled that would be owling her friends at school, so just wanted to know if her general "how are you?" "I miss you" letters would be getting through? XD

ooooooooh I'm curious too :3 just a general idea of what is and is not considered 'appropriate' and how things are filtered and such

are all updates about what's happening within the walls getting cut and confiscated? I assume so since Regina at the Leaky was thinking about the Prophet not writing anything buuuuuuuuut...I don't want to assume TOO much in terms of censorship cause...that can go EXTREME really fast

That's clever. I think I figured something out that works for my charrie personally, which was the part I needed to do so that I wasn't compromising who she was as a charrie because of ooc confusion lol

This is why this school needs consistency across the board. All these different rules from class to class are causing confusion. We need order. *grunts*

In MY classroom, the "Show up to class on time and quietly stand out of utmost respect for your professor until class begins." and "Do not speak unless you are permitted to" expectations do suggest that you are to be seen and not heard. Speak only when spoken to, or get permission to speak (by raising your hand) if you have something to say.

S.O.R.E. is different from a class. But, even then, the greeting isn't necessary or required by me. Your purpose there is to make your laps and nothing more. In class, your purpose is to learn.

I also am not Professor Fletcher or your other professors (again, this is why we need consistency). The greeting is unnecessary, in my opinion. You can show politeness and respect by showing up on time, prepared and ready to learn, and remaining quiet until class begins. Greeting me may tempt you to greet others, which may cause off-task conversation.

Subject matter ~~lacking respect for the decisions or happenings taking place at the school and those in charge~~ would be ... altered to some capacity. Not that you need to worrying about that. You have studying to do.

y'all i'm sorry zoryn is being so disruptive all the time, i mean that's who she is but i, ariana, don't want to just break rules to break them Y'KNOW so she really was going to stay away from sassing this time BUT @___@ IC she literally would never in a million years let someone take points away from her for something she didn't do correctly in another class that caused point loss
