Haven Announcements!

Hogwarts Haven Announcements!

This thread can be used for any SSRPG-related announcements you'd like to share with your fellow SSRPG Addicts. Has a new edition of the yearbook been released? Is there a special event going on that other addicts should know about?

Any changes and additions to the Hogwarts Haven will also be posted here.

Please note, this is not a plot thread and announcements should be out of character. If you have a question about what belongs here, PM your Haven mods Charely Potter & Jessiqua or ask a school staffer.

OWL and NEWT exam reminder!

For those who had seventh and fifth years, LAST TERM, just a friendly reminder that you have just over 48 hours to submit / finish your owl/newt exams.

If you completed only one part, but not the other, then you will NOT receive a passing grade.

Good luck!!! :woot:

Sincerely,

your friendly neighborhood staffer
;)

Just a couple reminders about OWLs and NEWTs

1) Do NOT change the year of your charrie until we PM you saying your exams have been graded.

2) DO be sure to READ THE RULES BEFORE taking the exams.

3) Failure to adhere to the rules will most likely get your exams deleted. So PLEASE follow the exam rules. We'd hate to delete what you work so hard on.

4) HAVE FUN!

And as Jess said, let one of us know if you have any questions or concerns about the exams.

Just don't ask for the answers cuz we're not telling. :mwaha:

So good luck to all!

^_^ Alright, so the broken links have finally been updated in the Character Biography Archives thread, so go check it out.

Some bios unfortunately weren't able to be recovered, so I had left their names linked to the respective user profile or kept underlined in the meantime. Please check out your past characters links to see if that is the case. If so and you do happen to have their biography saved somewhere, feel free to PM me or Mary it. That way we can attach it to one of your other character's bio, along with any other errors you spot.

ATTENTION 5TH & 7TH YEARS!

OWLs & NEWTs are open. Be sure you have read the examination guidelines.

Live long and prosper.

Charely Potter 04-10-2016 08:17 PM

It's that time of the year. Term 42 is drawing to a close, which means exiting characters and new entries on the lookout. Seventh years graduating, now is the time to make final updates to those biographies of yours if you haven't already before they are moved to the archives on April 16th.

All others if you plan to make a switch with your characters for Term 43 but want to keep them on the down low until then, feel free to pm me or Mary so we can make a copy of your current character's biography before the switch.

Any other questions feel free to pm as well. ^_^

It has come to my attention that some clarification needs to be made about certain rules in the Hogwarts RPG that have been overlooked and have caused a discussion on Twitter. So this post goes out to you (you know who you are), as well as everyone else, so we are all on the same page.
  1. There is a pet rule in the Hogwarts RPG. This is not something that is new to the rules. In fact, it has been present on site for a very long time with some minor tweaking along the way (the addition of acceptable pets and the person of contact). The pet rule can be found HERE, which is also emphasized SEVEN times HERE. The Hogwarts RPG staff maintains a list of members that have been granted permission to have special pets present in the RPG. For many terms this list has been kept only for staff eyes and it will remain that way; it is a system that has worked well for us for a very long time and does not need to be put on public display. This list is simply an OOC reference for us to know who has permission and who doesn't, which ultimately determines how we should respond when we/our professors stumble upon students with their (un)approved pets.

If you want your character to be given permission to bring a pet to Hogwarts that is not a toad, cat, rat, pygmy puff, or owl, then you need to send me a PM. I will either accept or decline your request following a discussion with the CoMC professor (note that smaller and/or non-dangerous/destructive pets are likely to be accepted over bigger and/or dangerous/destructive pets). This will be documented in the list that the Hogwarts staff maintains.

If you do not want to go through the process described above, but want your character to try sneaking their unapproved pet to Hogwarts, feel free to do so for the role-play experience. Just know that there will be IC consequences for your character who does not have permission to bring that special pet of theirs (point loss, detention for breaking a school rule/not having permission, and the removal of their pet from the school). This is something that the present staff and I have discussed and agreed upon.

  2. There is a special (dis)abilities rule in the Hogwarts RPG. This also is not something that is new to the rules and has been present on site for a long time. The special (dis)abilities rule can be found HERE, and the topic has been discussed numerous times in the past. Like the pet list, the Hogwarts RPG staff has a list of members that have been granted permission to role-play a student with a special (dis)ability. For many terms this list has been kept only for staff eyes and it will remain that way; it is a system that has worked well for us for a very long time and does not need to be put on public display. This list is an OOC reference for us to know who has permission and who doesn't, which ultimately determines how we should respond when we/our professors stumble upon students that have a special (dis)ability.

If you want your character to be given permission to play a student at Hogwarts with a special (dis)ability, then you need to send me a PM. I will either accept or decline your request (note that there are certain specifications mentioned in the rule listed above; not everyone can be an Animagus, Seer, werewolf, etc. because that just is not realistic). This will be documented in the list the staff maintains.

If you do not want to go through the process described above and play a student with a special (dis)ability without permission, then do realize that there will be OOC consequences. If you do not have permission, your posts will be deleted and you with receive a PM. Further posts in which the student continues to have that special (dis)ability without permission will be deleted and you will be suspended from the Hogwarts RPG.

  3. This is a gentle reminder: be courteous and show respect to others. There is no need to be rude or short with people that are trying to inform you of something or help you when it comes to SS matters, whether on- or off-site. There is no need for dramatics over things that are, honestly, simple. Also, if you are having issues with another member or have a concern that you would like addressed, please feel free to go to a staff member or myself via PM. We will do the best we can to clear things up for you as we want to help maintain an environment that is welcoming and fun for everyone.
If you have any questions or suggestions concerning the items described above or anything about the Hogwarts RPG, please feel free to contact me. My PM box and my ears are always open. Thank you! ^_^

The term is coming to a close, which means it is that time again to tell us what you thought about this term. What did you like? What didn't you like? What suggestions do YOU have? The Hogwarts RPG staff enjoyed putting together this term immensely, but we also understand that there is still plenty of room for us all to grow. Your thoughts are important to us!

Tell us everything that is going on in your mind; the more you have to say, the better. The more detailed feedback you provide to us, the better we can work on making the Hogwarts RPG enjoyable for all. Everything will be considered seriously and professionally, and only the Wizarding World RPG Admins will have access to your survey. We solemnly swear that what is said in these surveys stays in these surveys. May dementors suck out our souls should that not ring true.

Please remember that we are indeed listening to you; however, we cannot implement everyone's feedback all at once -- some things take more time to iron out. Also, it is very difficult for us to meet your Hogwarts RPG desires if we are provided with vague feedback or no feedback at all. Please be as detailed as possible for each question. List specific names, provide thorough suggestions, etc.

It would be greatly appreciated if you would share your thoughts, feelings, concerns, etc. by Saturday, April 22nd. Thank you!
