hey,can someone tell me how sb makes contacts?

When you are viewing someone's User Profile, underthe box that contains their Profile Picture, and above the Vistor Message section is a thin box that read:
"Send Message, User Lists, User Notes"
Clich user Lists and a drop down menu will appear with the tab "Add to Contacts"

How would one become a shop keeper or assistant shop keeper?

As it stands right now the DA shopkeeper and assistant positions are by appointments. Meaning the lovely Con-Strips must choose you to be a shopkeeper or an assistant.

And the only thing that you can do to maybe get appointed should a job open up is to be active (posting and RPing) helping out other members and basically having a good time and making sure others to as well. And staying out of trouble. But that doesn't guarantee anything.

Forgive me if I sound totally stupid. I'm a tad bit lost, because I've never worked with an RP site that does things this way.

Generally, I've been told to post a character profile first. Is that required here, or...? (Because if it is, I've totally failed at finding wherever I'm supposed to post it.) Sorry!! ^-^;;

ETA: Also, are you allowed to set your character to any year, or must you begin at first year and move from there? Sorry for the stupid Qs...

second, no you don't have to post up a profile before you start RPing, but some of us are like expert stalkers so we like to see your charrie, so you can post here If you can't see that forum go to your User CP and go to your group memberships, and join the Fan Club: School RPG Addicts, and then you can post up your bio. And there is a fountain of information in that forum

third, you can be any year your little heart desires to be.

All right! Thanks tons for all of the info and help! I guess my final question would be, do you advise starting at a higher year (during impromptu discussions that turn into RPs, I'm a sixth year Eagle just as I'd think myself to be) or as a first year? Does it matter?

If you think it best for you to be a sixth Year then go for it! Some people just like to start as a First year so too grow with their charrie, but it's perfectly fine if you want to start at Six!

Is the Diagon Alley chat only for shopkeepers and moderators or can anyone who rps in Diagon Alley use it to discuss scenes and the like (like the school chat)?

Good question, Izzy. Even if it's simple.

I can tell you that people used it somewhat like the school chat during the break between terms, when students could be in DA. So I don't see why you couldn't post in there if you like.

Heh, so I have a question too...my two charries (school and Ministry) have an older brother - Cooper - who however is a Muggle, so now I was wondering if I was allowed to RP him DA? Only accompanied by either of my other charries of course...I was just thinking because Hermione's parents were in DA too at some point me thinks.

I think as it goes with muggles in magical areas its like they had a reason to be there..Hermione's parents were escorting their child, but it wasn't like they were just on vacation and wanted to swing through Diagon Alley...kinda thing.

I'm not sure what reason your charries muggle brother would have to be in Diagon Alley....but I could be wrong here

EDIT: 'cause I don't wanna clutter up the thread, I'll just add this here, Cooper is a Muggle...both Jeremy and Alysson are Muggleborn so they are the 'different' ones in the family. Just to make that clear. And I wouldn't allow him to go anywhere close to KA...*whistles* Thanks, Gracie. <3

In the past (before DA became a full time RPG) I have seen Muggle/Squib family members played, accompanied by whoever belonged in DA.

And actually, Cooper is a Squib to be exact, right? I honestly don't see why not, so long as he already knows of magic (for realistic reasons such as coming from a magical family) and he's there to visit with a sibling? I'd think just don't let him wander anywhere near Knockturn Alley unless you're willing to risk his life and you're all good, but I'll check with the big boss *points in Conner's direction* and see what he says.

I'll update/post when I know for sure.

EDIT/UPDATE: Conner said that's fine, as long as the character is accompanied by a witch/wizard (wandering Diagon Alley on his own could lead to the Ministry taking him in for obliviating).

You need to be sorted into a house to take the wand quiz... From which I've just seen you already know about the sorting quiz from the newbies thread.

Hello!

You character can't use magic til she is 17, till is of age, Wizarding Law!
Besides there are lots of helpful shopkeepers would more than love, to help you put your books on the counter, if it is too high for your character!
