I actually really like the idea, I know some people have done it on their own, but it might be kind of fun to have an entire program type thing going on with it so more might get help, y'know?

Oooh. Yes, the snakeys did this last term. However I don't think it worked out that well because some of them didn't stick to the plan. But if everyone actually followed through then I'm pretty sure it would be awesome.

Hmmm yes, the Slytherin house did something like this last term. Voluntarily of course. There was a thread in which people described their character (name, year, likes, dislikes...), and then younger students (or new students in general) were paired off with older (or returning) students.

It was mostly like how Kinzey described it. Older (or returning) students were pretty much the big brother or sister. Helped out with homework, questions, made their little buddy feel at home...It was also a good way for the new people who join the site to get into the flow of RPing and they'd have someone there to RP with.

It's a nice idea in my opinion.

I didn't know that the Slytherins did it, but that's pretty awesome. So it was just in House... hmm... what if we combined the houses, that could create some unity or maybe a little bit of friction. Was there a sign up sheet? And who assigns the pairs? The HoH? I think it would definitely have to take commitment, but could be a lot of fun at the same time.

Haha, I can just imagine my character being paired off with someone other than a Slytherin. *amused*

Mmhmm, there was a sign up sheet, which i see has been posted again if you want to check it out. (Serpent Sidekicks) And yea, the HoH assigns the pairs. Hmm i don't know what would happen if it branched out to the other houses, what with who chooses who, but I agree it would be best if the people signed up would be committed, and not...ignore the other person as well as have the time to RP. lol. A few posts here and there just...meh. Wouldn't be really fun if that happened.

I think this is a pretty cool idea - I actually myself noticed a person who was "new" to the RP world and offered a helping hand they even had the fabled lastname-less character so...I offered if they wanted to have their character be mine's sister - younger, and its been going swimmingly. She also is really descriptive which helps.

Maybe Big/Little could be like yearbook in a way with the sign up idea - and people who've been on the site longer have the actual "rank" in it like big for example and each year more new people join - so the people who were once "littles" become someones "big" while still being the "little" to the person "big" like how they do in schools.

I really like the idea!!!! It would be such a great way to get to know new people on the Site as well.

I think it would be fun to have to be paired up with some one in a different house. To creat unity in the school or something!!!!!! So I vote yes!!! lol

I loved it, it's a really good idea. The biggest difficulty with it is, like a couple of other Snakes said, is that some members don't stick to it; forget about it; or disappear from SS. We've done it for two terms now, both times being partnered with a First Year Newbie, who RP'd with me once and then I never saw them around the RP again... (Granted, I didn't RP much last term, but I was still on the look out for my "Slytherin Sidekick", which is what we're named. )

The idea is brilliant, but I think it would work much better if it was extended to the whole school than just within one house.

For me its something I've always been willing to do ooc, but not all my characters are... shall we say, blessed with a notion of responsibility?

Lexi already does something like this as it is... She loves to take the underclassmen ladies under her wing and look out for them. Kurumi being one of them. I know she will be taking a couple more as well this term

I would love to do this OOC as well. Sort of help new school sorties or members, period, navigate the RPGs and such.

I like this idea. I haven't really gotten back to Hogwarts since Helios got killed off. I know how to rp, but I think it'd be nice to have someone that my new character can look up to.

I did hear about the Serpent Sidekick? That was the Slytherin version. I so recommend all houses have the same system. And we SHOULD make it work because people new to the RP usually just need a push and a motivation to stick around and be as creative as they can be.

I usually throw free posts here and there hoping that my charrie meets and helps out someone. However, having a system for that totally makes it efficient. I'm in!

We have this at my RL school, a year 8 is buddy to a year 7, then they keep that buddy, and when the year 7 goes into year 8 they get their own buddy! So they have an older and a younger one! It's really effective, I think it'd work well here! I'd do it!

Being essentially brand new not only to this site but to rp-ing this would be extremely helpful. I have been on this site 10 days and had to kinda figure out how to do this by reading others posts. It would be even better to have someone that you know(have talked to ooc) for advice or tips especially at Hogwarts! great idea!!!
