Located at the back of the shop right next to the shopkeeper's office is the the storeroom. The wooden door is always closed but rarely locked, unless the store is closed. This is where the extra items are stored. To the right of the room, empty surplus shelves are stacked. The cauldrons are piled up in a corner, one on top of the other, to conserve some space. Everything is in careful order so that you wouldn't have too much problem finding what you are looking for - not that you're allowed back here!!

Unless you work in Slug & Jigger's or have permission from Nigel you shouldn't be caught lurking here. The shopkeeper will be severe if you are caught here. Prepare to get in trouble.

Returning to the storeroom as directed, Nigel turned off to the left to restart his potions work. Picking up the list he and Valentina had made the other day on what needed to be replenished, he picked up a quill nearby and crossed off what he had already finished. Moving to his next choice, he gathered the four necessary ingrediants for the wit-sharpening potion and returned to the workstation.

"Evanesco..." Nigel cast into the cauldron, cleaning it out completely of any remaining remnants before restoring his wand to his pocket and pouring in the correct measured amount of armadillo bile. Restarting the fire beneath, he went to work crushing the flux weed as he waited for the cauldron's contents to boil.

After having finished and posted the letter for the order of Hawkweed bulbs, she decided to ~~pay Nigel a visit~~ make sure Nigel wasn't going to blow up her shop. Pushing the door open quietly so as to not disturb him - and make her presence known - Valentina moved into the storeroom to find Nigel bent over a cauldron.

She simply watched him for a moment, sniffing the air in search for any smells which were out of the ordinary. Which there weren't. Of course. Nigel knew what he was doing after all. Nonetheless, she said nothing about it but rather walked up to him to peek into his cauldron. "And?" She said, keeping her voice indifferent as she glanced at him expectantly.

Becuase of Nigel's attention to his work and Valentina's work to not disturb him, the assistant wasn't fully aware of her presence until he felt more then saw her approach off to his side. He knew she would be around at one point since he had already seen in their short time workingh together that she was very on top of all the things going on in her shop.

"And we add the fluxweed..." he absently spoke to finish her sentence as he added the mentioned ingrediants. Only when it was done and he had dipped the spoon into the cauldron to stir the required 5 times clockwise did he turn his head to meet her gaze. Nigel wasn't one to allow himself the distraction for his work and effort was important to him.

Upon hearing his answer, Valentina couldn't help but allow herself a small smile. Did he think she was checking if he was adding the right ingredients?! Did he honestly think she would have hired him if there was any doubt in him knowing his ingredients? "I am not checking up on you." Was all she said, however before moving to close the door.

After having put her hair up so it wasn't going to get in the way she walked over to the second cauldron and lit the fire beneath it. They needed to restock as quickly as possible after all. Plus, it was rather boring outside.

Nigel saw the small smile grace her face, the man showing no open sign that he had however as they faced each other before she broke the matched gaze to shut the door. "I know," he said innoscently turning back to his cauldron as it absently simmered like it was supposed to.

"But how do you know I wasn't testing you?" he added a few moments, his face slipping into a bemused smirk. Which was entirely possible since he hadn't said what he was in fact making...she would need to guess by the ingrediants if he had been in fact testing her.

Valentina showed no reaction whatsoever to his question at first, not even that she had heard him. No, instead she went about her preparations as if he weren't even there. Standing on her tiptoes to reach the Jobberknoll feathers on the top shelf she sighed before reaching for her wand and levitating the ingredient down into her hands.

All the while silent, she walked back to her cauldron and cleaned it with a swift flick of her wand. Adding a couple of basic ingredients she started to stir slowly, and without glancing at him finally said, "Because, Nigel, I would probably have to fire you if you were." At this her grey eyes flickered towards him, her hand stopped stirring for a moment. "So, were you?" She asked, regarding him calmly.

Nigel kept watch, stiring the potion every once and a while to keep the hot liquid under control. The assistant half-wondering if she had heard what he said and whether or not she was giving him the cold shoulder or just ignoring him as she preped for her own work. Spotting her struggle with the feathers after a few attempts he almost helped Valentina being a deal taller and the item between reach but when she grabbed her wand, he turned back to his next step...peeling the ginger root.

Satisfied with his work, Nigel switched to chopping the ginger fine so he could add it in next, his knife stopping mid-chop as he heard her voice when Valentina finally broke the silence again. "No..not at all," he returned just as calmly as he looked back at her.Well played, he mused to himself.

As soon as he had replied Valentina went back to her stirring the potion...or not yet potion. "Good." Was all she said wihtout another glance at Nigel, however, with a small triumphant smile playing around her lips. Somehow this was quite...not quite amusing but something close to that.

Reaching out for her knive and one of the black beetles, she slowly started crushing it before adding the liquid to the cauldron. "So, Nigel, what are you brewing?" She could have easily figured that out by herself, but then, she was feeling a little social at the moment so why not.

Nigel heard the good letting himself return to his work chopping the ginger, adding it in when he was finished. "Wit sharpening potion," he remarked as he lowered the heat beneath the simmering cauldron. The assistant then set a sort of timer for 30 minutes so that it could be left alone if need be and still be simmering no more and no less then the required time.

"Yourself?" he asked gingerly stepping around her to retrieve his own batch of beetles, this time the green scarab that was given as the creature of choice in his recipe. The man figuring to prepare them while he waited the allotted time.

I know. However, Valentina only nodded slowly in reply to his answer about which potion he was making. She shook the beetle slightly over the cauldron to be sure that all the liquid had left it before disposing of it in a nearby bin. Then she repeated the process with two further black beetles.

Now it was time to stir the potion again. "Memory Potion." She gave him a pointed look as he moved around her, before pulling her wand out again to have the potion stir itself. She took the chance of him being away from his cauldron to move over herself to take another peek at the potion inside. "Looks good." No, she still wasn't checking up on him ~~much.~~

Returning to his place, Nigel put a few beetles from the jar into the mortar and exchanged the jar for the pestle on the counter. He didn't quite notice the nod for he wasn't looking for it, turning his attention back to to his work as he started grinding up the green insects.

The assistant raised a slight eyebrow and the pointed look but didn't comment, relaxing the expression a moment later as he briefly glanced at the timer to check the change. Seeing only half the time gone by, he looked back down at his grinding to make the pieces smaller. "Of course," he replied nonchalantly not appearing to be phased by the woman's compliments anymore then she was covering up her attention to his work.

Nigel headed to the larger of the two rooms first, the storeroom that was nearly the size of the front of the shop. Its expanse filled with shelves and cabinets not unlike its counterpart though far more rustic. "This is the storeroom, where we keep whatever else we have in stock," he said entering the room before his new assistant.

"Most of what is here is also out in the shop however I prefer to also keep the more expensive not so everyday items solely back here to avoid theft and unnecessary clutter up front." Such as the larger sizes of the standard cauldrons and those made of moe precious metals, the ingrediants one had to specifically ask for and any special orders that might come in at times.

Dylan was pleasantly surprised by the size of the storeroom back here. He'd always visualised it as being cluttered and disorganised. “You're very organised.” He commented pleasantly, impressed by Nigel's upkeep of the apothecary. He could only imagine the chaos this place would be if he was in charge. Good thing he wasn't.

He nodded his head to Nigel's words. Expensive stuff back here. “The pre-made potions..” Dylan started. “Are they ordered in, or do you brew them on the premises?”

Nigel nodded hearing the approving comment from Dylan and briefly at the younger man. "Guilty...disorganization only makes things harder to find. And when the shop gets hectic and busy especially during the summer, extra time is not something you have any of," he remarked truthfully having dealt with it for three years already.

"Most of them I make myself," he answered looking over his stock with his employee, a mental note made of a couple he might need to work on in a short while. "There are a few where its cheaper or more worth it to buy from someone else due to the actual cost of ingrediants and/or the extensive time making them." Especially if they were needed unexpectedly and time was not a given.

Nigel kept his movements slow and patient to insure Enz was following him from the main shop area. They still had enough time to not be in a rush or anything. Plenty of time later in the summer for the hectic hustle and bustle to leak everywhere.

The storeroom door was propped open at the moment, having left it that way for his ease when carrying items outside. So the shopkeeper stepped inside and stopped, his arms hung upon as if trying to encompass the room's entire contents. "This is the storeroom," Nigel said though one could easily see such. "Only myself, and for the summer you, are allowed back here. This is where everything else in stock is located."

Enz hurried the last couple steps into the back room because he was excited, but he had taken his time looking around the rest of the shop. It was more spacious than he had expected, yet was still pretty cozy. He entered the storeroom and immediately tried to take everything in. It was huuuuge.

He walked in further, then rotated in one spot as he admired the shelves. So he was the only intern? That was an interesting fact. "So where do you get your supplies from?" Now questions were starting to formulate.

The shopkeeper broke off trying to think of what else might be important to share. Surely listing it all would take some time and likely be overkill. It could always be asked for later individually if curious.

"As for finished potions, most are made by me, though occasionally I've requested the assistance of other potioners that I trust if time is prohibitive." Sometime he had only had so much in supply and had neither the time nor supplies to make more quickly enough for an order, especially if it was needed asap.

Enz continued soaking in all the things going on, even though nothing was moving. He stepped a bit closer to a shelf filled of cauldrons, then turned back around to listen to the answer of his question. In Wales? That was interesting. And animal parts were also taken from outside. But he made the potions himself, then?

"So, basically, you receive the ingredients from outside, then make the actual finished product by yourself?" He was impressed.
