This thread is where you should post if you need Technical Support with SnitchSeeker, if you have any inappropriate or annoying advertisements to report, or if you experience strange glitches onsite. When SS is likely to experience downtime, updates will be posted in this first post. Posts may be moved here from The Question Thread if they need to be addressed by the technical support team, or if its a technical issue that we're currently still working on solving. Newbies and Members may report any technical issues here. Please include screenshots where possible, as well as links to any specific onsite locations where you are having the issue.
Before you post about an issue in this thread, please be sure you've checked this first post and give this thread a quick browse before reporting your technical issue to see if has already been solved in the most recent pages!
Please refrain answering questions if you are not a moderator or administrator of SnitchSeeker.com
It's not that we mind you helping; quite the opposite is true actually. It's more that mods are trained to know the up-to-date answers, the whole answers, and have the ability to check things not everyone is able, particularly in regard to reporting technical issues and advertisements, as this is not always an instant fix. As a member, if you DO know the answer or can provide help to a question that a fellow member asks, you can always VM them to let them know, but please don't post in this thread unless you have a question and need help yourself.

How to take a Screenshot
SPOILER!!: How to take a screenshot
This website gives instructions for taking a screenshot for Windows, Mac, Linux, Chrome OS, Android, and iPhone/iPad/iPod. You can also download browser apps and extensions for Google Chrome, Safari and Firefox for taking screenshots under the 'Websites' tab on this link.
How to make SS faster
SPOILER!!: How to speed up browsing on SS
Most Drastic:Choose the "SS lite" skin (bottom left of every page). This removes all graphics and colors from the design and gives you a plain, black & white + links, PDA-friendly version.
Remove Siggies and Avatars: In your "User CP" (User Control Panel - link on top left of each forum page), edit your settings to not show avatars or signatures. (Default for newer members is now set not to show siggies.)
Please do your best to contribute to fast pages by making sure you only use Avatars and images (in your siggie) that are minimal in Kb. Follow the rules and we'll all be fine!
Please make sure you keep your email address current. If you signed up with a different email address to what you are currently using, or one you no longer have access to, it makes it difficult for you to easily troubleshoot problems you may have with logging in.
If you have recently changed your username be aware that you need to sign in with your NEW username and not your old one.
Passwords are case sensitive.
Ensure that the url has 'https://' before the 'www.snitchseeker.com'. This often will fix any issues that may be had with attempting to log in and failing when you know that your username and password are correct.
If you cannot log in and have no access to your registered email address (and therefore can't recover your password yourself), please use the contact us form. Please do not create a new account as that is against our multiple account rules, and we CAN help you recover your original account if you let us know.
Something Looks Broken!
SPOILER!!: Something looks broken
If you're browsing on SS and suddenly find that the forum looks somehow broken or incorrect, it may be because the admins are working on fixing something. If after a short while it is still not looking right you are free to report your issue here. This might be a site-wide issue (such as a broken menu, a link that doesn't go anywhere, broken tables, or code visible where it shouldn't be, broken images) or it might be something that only effects a single user (like incorrect or broken usertitles or missing linebreaks or coding in your postbit -the area under your username), or perhaps a member that appears to be in the newbie usergroup. Usually any changes here are double checked so please give us a few minutes before you report a usertitle problem - we might have caught it and fixed it ourselves by the time you get to posting
How to report something broken:
When reporting something broken, please include the following in your post:
1) A screenshot of the problem
2) The link to where you are seeing the problem (especially if it is in a particular place ie on a specific member's profile)
3) A description of the problem
4) Any other relevant information
Inappropriate or broken advertisements
SPOILER!!: Inappropriate or broken advertisements
You should post in this thread about any advertisements that may be inappropriate (they just aren't SS-friendly or redirect or seem to cause issues). We try to carefully monitor ads but, a lot of times certain ads are directed at just a certain area and we won't always notice them all.
Likewise, if an advertisement overlaps with the forums or makes your navigation experience difficult please let us know. With that said, we do know how some of the ads force the menus behind them and there isn't really anything we can do about that. Should you encounter one of these ads and you need to use the drop down menus at the top of the screen (ie: the sections menu) your best bet is to just reload the page and hope for a better ad. If it is a persistent issue, then by all means report it here.
While you are free to use adblock etc we ask that you do not do so on SS unless you are having a particular issue as advertisements provide revenue toward the running of the site - allowing advertisements is the easiest way you can support SS.
How to report a problem ad
When reporting a problem ad, please include the following in your post:
1) General region you are located (country and/or state)
2) A screenshot of the ad
3) What the problem is with the ad
4) If your computer is attacked, what information does your antivirus software give you?
5) Any other relevant information

I don't know if more people has had this issue, but last few days I've had the trouble that I can't edit posts i've posted on site either from my pc or my ipad. When i click the edit button the page just freezes and when i refresh to reload the page it keeps loading and loading and but nothing happens until i give up. Does anyone have idea what i can do to fix it?

Hey, so this is being looked into; you're not the only one who's having problems with this. For now, until this bug can be fixed, I suggest double-clicking on the edit button which will take you to the advanced editing page. That appears to be the only way you can edit posts at the moment.
So I'm having an issue where I'm unable to edit my "About Me" section. I suspect it's related to the above mentioned post-editing issue, as it manifests on a similar way, but as far as I know, there's no temporary fix for this.
When I click the edit button next to any of the values on my About Me section, the icon turns to a swirl as if it's loading the text box that's meant to appear, but it never moves on from this state, and nothing further ever happens.

SPOILER!!: Same issue, different look
I'm having that issue too actually with a slight variation. I primarily use Snitchseeker via Desktop computer on Firefox browser if that helps. I would manually edit it via User CP with this link in order for it to save. That seems to work for now until it's taken care of.

Derp! Of course! I can't believe I didn't think of that It's been so long since I ever had to even open the user CP, I half-forgot it even existed. This fix works fine for now!

UPDATE: we're going to have a malware scan conducted on the site to eradicate this issue, stay tuned. sorry about the problem!

So this is happening again Not on any particular page, it's random. (In the US, by the way, if that helps). It's on my PC, using the Microsoft Edge browser.

Having an issue with an old problem from a few weeks ago that others reported - those annoying pop ups to sketchy websites when clicking on random links in random forums. I've yet to run into it before today and it's been rather relentless today. Same as what lazykitty mentioned just above.
Yeah, just here to report the same pop up issue as sarahloo and lazykitty. I'm currently on an android device, using the Google chrome browser. At first I thought this was an issue with me and ran a whole bunch of scans, but it seems others are having this issue as well.
It seems completely random when and where it happens. It's been particularly crazy today, as I've gotten about 6 pop ups just while trying to type this very post. Would be so nice to have this fixed.
^ this is being looked into but for now (as a troubleshooting sort of thing), ALWAYS make sure you're on https. It shouldn't happen on https. So every time you click on a link on site (even if you were on https before), check if you're STILL on https. Most browsers afaik TELL you if you're not on a https website; it'll say something like "not secure" next to the URL - at least Chrome and Safari do.
^ This tip seems to have worked for me. I don't know what happened in the last week that's made it so I no longer get here through https, but a apparently I haven't been, and now that that has been rectified, all pop ups seem to have ceased.

I'm really tired of the log in/log out issues on here. When I go to log out of SS, it never fully logs me out. I get the "all cookies cleared!" message, but if I were to click on another link anywhere on the website, I'd be automatically logged in again.
Despite this auto-log-in, I also get logged out of the site randomly when I'm typing a long post. I'll go to post it, and suddenly find that my account has been logged out of the site. Then SS does not let me use the back button on my browser to go back to the post I was typing so I could at least save it before I log in again. I can even keep the "members on SS" page up so I at least have one tab logged in and refreshing, but I'll still get logged out.
What's the deal here? I clear my cache and cookies regularly. I also get ALL the ads and popups, still, when I'm on any kind of browser that does not have an ad-blocker installed. Http/https does not make a difference on my phone browser and also, tbh, I thought that was not something users were supposed to have to change because I thought it had to do with the site's security certificate.
Any help/explanation about the log in/out thing?

Oh, how we drift away from our friends. And the ones back home play remember when
I'm noticing that very recently (the past day or two) that after clearing my cookies/cache that I log in with the Remember Me box selected and then if I go back on the site later, I am logged out. This never used to happen to me before.

Make sure that the address bar starts with https://
Hey there! I've been having this problem for ages and tbh I've just ignored it until now by getting on the computer. But anyway, the problem:
I can't login to the site on my cell phone. I use Safari and actually downloaded Google Chrome today to see if the issue was with the browser itself and no luck. THIS is the message I get every time I attempt. (And I PROMISE I have the actual username/password combo correct. I'm on my laptop currently ^___^)
Dani (Daemon) suggested clearing my cache on my phone's browser and that didn't resolve the issue either. Any idea what this could be or how to fix it?
OH! Also, the full URL I use to login in does use the https rather than just http.

I had some issues with inappropriate pop-up ads and sketchy ads for ad blockers when I first opened the main forum page today. In addition to the ones that were shown to me, my browser blocked 4 ads from opening.
There was another ad that I was unable to get a screenshot of that asked me to install a particular ad blocker Chrome extension. It seemed kind of sketchy because I am not using Chrome, I am using Firefox on my laptop.
Retyping the site url using https:// instead of http:// resolved this issue for me (thank you emjay for the suggestion).

I can't sign on to SS on my phone. It will take me to the homepage, but when I go to log-in, it won't let me past the screen you see on the attached image.
Get warning message when trying to access login screens
I am having trouble logging onto the site via Firefox in particular (but also Chrome, though I was finally able to get in using that). The minute I try to go to the login area, I get this link to a message warning me that the site is trying to take me to a potentially malicious website. The login process had been behaving glitchy for a week or so, but I was able to get in by just going back a screen and then loggin in, but today it wouldn't even let me do that. I've done checks on my computer for problems; also, Snitchseeker is the only website I've had this problem with (and I'm using https, not http). Not sure what's going on.
Hello! When trying to access my own profile (either directly from the URL or through clicking on site) I'm being redirected to the forum page (https://www.snitchseeker.com/forum.php).
