Warner Bros. and HBO/MAX has officially announced the first six confirmed cast for the upcoming Harry Potter TV series, set to begin production this summer.
In addition to John Lithgow as Dumbledore, already confirmed by the actor himself, the others include: Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell, and Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch.
Lithgow as Dumbledore, Essiedu as Snape, Frost as Hagrid, and McTeer as McGonagall will be series regulars, while Thallon as Quirrell and Whitehouse as Filch will be guest or recurring.
- John Lithgow – the six-time Emmy®, two-time Tony Award winner, and BAFTA and Oscar® nominee – will take on the iconic role of Albus Dumbledore.
- Paapa Essiedu, Emmy® and BAFTA nominee, will portray Severus Snape.
- Nick Frost, BIFA nominee, has been cast as Rubeus Hagrid.
- Janet McTeer, winner of both a Tony and an Olivier Award, and a nominee for the Oscar® and Emmy®, will play Minerva McGonagall.
- Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell
- Paul Whitehouse, BAFTA winner, as Argus Filch
