Welcome to the Magical Menagerie! It truly is your one stop shop for all your creature-related needs (except for owls). As you enter the shop the sounds of creatures fills your ears though they may not be in sight right away. It seems the shop has had some work done to it recently. Right up front there is a large oak counter, a shiny new register sitting off to one side. On the wall just behind the counter are seven colored pegs each one holding a clipboard filled with paperwork. This is how the shopkeeper keeps special orders and requests.
Beyond the counter is the display area. Rows upon rows of anything you might need for your new pet or that pet you already have at home that deserves some pampering! From all big to small tanks, training crates and travel bags, all types of foods and treats from the young to the older, we even have foods for sensitive bellies! Climbing posts, chew toys, balls that jingle and ones that flash colors, squeaky mice too. There’s shampoos and medicine’s of all sorts as well. Collars and leashes of all styles and sizes, some with matching shirts, coats and booties! If a comfy bed is what you need we have those as well. Don’t see something you’re looking for? Come right up to our shopkeeper and ask we might just have it and if by some chance we don’t, well than we can order it for you!
Past the display are the Menagerie is broken up into smaller, creature-themed rooms; a zoo within a shop, if you will. Each room is decorated to make the creatures feel more at home, from a change in lighting, large murals painted on the walls and flowers and plants scattered about. The room dedicated to Reptiles and Amphibians is first, while the room for smaller animals comes next. Right after that is a room sanctioned for our Aviation friends; birds of all shapes and sizes reside here, please note that it can get a bit loud and messy in here at times. In following room is home to many large fish tanks containing fresh-water fish, salt-water fish and plants, alike! Fresh-water fish on the left and salt-water fish on the right. Felines are next in line with large cages lining the walls. We have a large range of different cat breeds as well as Kneazles. The last room is also our loudest. Our Canines! Crups are a BEST SELLER! We also have several other breeds of canines. Both the Feline and Canine rooms have four play areas set up in the center of each room which holds toys and treats if you would like to play with one of the creatures before purchasing them!

As they stood on the doorstep to the pet shop JT asked his dad for the millionth time this summer with pleading eyes "Why can't I just bring Buzz to school? I can keep him from saying bad stuff to people I promise." Erm, this wasn't totally correct because the jarvey in question had a big mouth, and wasn't exactly the best at listening to what JT or anyone else said. The Forsfelle grandparents didn't hesitate and arrived within seconds of the message being sent. So the Keeper's attention was solely on the twelve-year old in his hand. "Don't worry, I bet you'll find a nice cat, rat, or toad in here. Otherwise, we can check out the Owls in the Emporium." Just as they arrived through the door the sights and smells of all the creatures brought back all the memories. "You know JT, you're the same age your mum and I were when we first met in here." Perhaps he'll find an extra friend in here too?

On the doorstep to the pet shop still holding on to daddy's hand JT said with downcast eyes. "I know Buzz can't be forced to be silent, but I just thought he still could be with me in some way...He is one of my comforts you know?" Buzz was the comfort companion JT often went to hug or spend time with if he had had a fight with one of his siblings or if mummy or daddy wasn't pleased with him.
Following daddy into the pet shop it felt like JT went right smack into a wall of creature smells, sights and noises. Tugging his dad over to look at the rats first JT said worriedly. "What if I like a pet, and we buy it, and then my snake housemates will tease me for it everyday?" Or do something worse. Stepping closer to look more at the rats he made big eyes up at daddy when he mentioned that he had met mummy in this very shop when they had been his age. Curiously JT asked "Did you love mummy on first sight? They said people do on the wiz radio the other day." Eyeing the rats with a little fascination, JT watched as one of the rats tried to hunt his own tail.

There really was no rhyme or reason as to why he insisted on carrying it on his person and, honestly, doing it this way was greatly increasing the chance of him losing it before he plucked up the courage to do what he had been fretting over for the good part of a year now...but he would not be a Branxton without overthinking every action and decision before doing it.
Thankfully, it wasn't a distraction from doing his job here at the Menagerie and if anything it had become a sort of fidget toy during his downtime. Downtime like he had right now as he escorted a pleasantly plump woman wearing enough pearl necklaces that he wondered how she managed to stand upright while she strut with her kneazle cradled in her arms to the register to ring her up for Mademoiselle Butterscotch's check-up. "Perfect, I'll see you both in about a year's time, Mrs. Buttonwood," he smiled to the woman and hesitated to give the ginger kneazle another scratch behind the ears. Closing the till, and doing what he could to wipe the bright cherry red lipstick stain off his cheek as Mrs. Buttonwood sashayed her way out of the shop, Cooper ran his fingers through his hair a few times to occupy his hands while he debated what to do next since he had some more downtime before his next appointment.
If enthusiasm could be bottled up and made into a person it would look like Aurora Ackerly. With her OWLs well and truly behind her and the potential that she might not have done as well as she hoped, she’d made the executive decision to apply for a summer job in her field of ‘expertise’ in the hopes that when graduation did come around, she’d be one step ahead of her more intelligent compatriots.
It was surprisingly Ravenclaw of her really, proof that the Sorting Hat hadn’t made a big mistake in her first year. Her Ma had been pretty shocked too, especially considering they had just rescued a golden retriever and Aurora had spent the first day upon returning from Hogwarts crying into the poor dog’s fur from happiness and had stated that she ‘didn’t want to leave her’. Yet here she was midway through her first week at the Menagerie, bounding in half an hour early with her ponytail swinging, narrowly avoiding the woman with her Kneazle who was recipient of a brief coo from the blonde.
“He was CUTE!” she commented in the general direction of Cooper whose job she most certainly wanted to steal in the future. “Although I’ve heard that Kneazle’s aren’t very good with medical procedures. Did you get scratched? I made a Kneazle Scratch Lotion in potions this year. I kept the notes, I’m sure I could brew you a vial.” She’d tested it herself and didn’t grow any extra limbs or fur or whiskers so it was most likely safe for use.

And there she was.
A cuckle easily passed through Coopers slight smirk when he heard the voice of the young blonde he affectionately referred to 'his little shadow' in his head. He had been at the Menagerie for quite some time now, but the Ravenclaw alumnus had never really had the opportunity to interact with interns. This had, mostly, been because he had been quite green to the creature healer position and not exactly qualified to mentor anyone outside of how to be compassionate. Ironically he had been (and sort of still was) more qualified to mentor the care of winged horses, but the Menagerie did not see that kind of customer. He had, at last, fallen in stride with the responsibilities of being a creature healer here in Diagon Alley and no longer had to hold his wandhand still while performing the severing procedure on crup tails - that had been a remarkable accomplishment worthy of a celebratory dinner.
"She certainly was," he agreed with a nod as he turned around and smiled down at the young blonde while [i]still[/s] trying to run the lipstick stain off his cheek. He really could do without this form of tipping, you know? "I would have to agree with that, though in my experience the thing with kneazles is that they know they are the smartest living thing in the room," he explained while patting his pockets for his wand to vanish the stain away. "Bit of a matter of pride, really, so you have to show them that you do in fact know what you are doing and that it just may be probably that they are not, in fact, the being of superior intellect. Well, that and Mademoiselle Butterscotch has a sweet spot under her chin that makes her a bit more docile...but even then you have to be efficient or else risk the wrath of her claws." He paused, rolled up his sleeves, and showed the backs of his hands and arms to her for reassurance. "I was spared today."
Sure sounded like something the shop ought to have on the shelves, but that sort of inventory was not his area of expertise.
"I don't recall ever learning to brew that while at Hogwarts...sounds wicked useful too. I certainly wouldn't turn down the opportunity to have that in my arsenal."

Aurora was an expert at the little sister role. Not only was she actually the youngest girl in her family (cousins and all) but she had somehow accumulated her way into several older students' lives whether they appreciated her company or not which only maybe added to the characteristics of a younger sibling. What she wasn’t was an annoyance - not intentionally anyway. She might’ve lacked a certain amount of self-awareness but she absolutely thrived in the company of others, a true extrovert and she only wanted to be helpful.
It was therefore a great thing that Cooper had the patience to deal with her non-stop rambles. His reassuring smiles were a comfort to what had been a slightly nervous Ravenclaw on her first day without the companionship of an equally as rambunctious best friend. A smile that reminded her of a certain older Ravenclaw who happened to be related to this one, a revelation that she hadn’t put two-and-two of together yet but that was a discovery for another day.
“My Ma’s cat thinks that too” she commented, removing a long strand of blonde hair from her top belonging to the Golden Retriever the family now owned. “But then again she probably is more intelligent than me.” It wasn’t meant to sound as self-deprecating as it did, which would explain why a grin was plastered on the girl’s face. It also happened that Aurora considered all magical beasts to be of equal or greater intelligence than humans and therefore required respect and admiration and plenty of chin tickles. “And she only has short stubby legs so if she does want to swipe they can’t reach very far. My Uncle has a Sphynx, one of those hairless cats. I wonder if Kneazles can be hairless too, like for people with allergies.” A TRAGEDY in her opinion, to be allergic to such majestic beasts.
“We didn’t learn it, I made it up for our potions assignment. We had to brew an original healing potion and I thought it would be mighty useful if I became a Creature Healer. Potions isn’t my best subject so I’m glad it actually worked. I’ll bring you a tube tomorrow! I didn’t turn myself into a Kneazle or anything when I applied it” That probably didn’t sound anywhere near as reassuring as she hoped it would.

Their dynamic was quite effortless really, particularly since he was well accustomed to so-called 'ramblings' considering his little brother. Though Cooper preferred to consider them as a 'sharing of enthusiasm' rather than belittle the effort with such a biased word. At the end of the day, weren't we all talking in hopes of finding the right audience?
"Sounds like you come from a real feline friendly family," he mused with a smile. They weren't his favorite but he certainly was far from disliking them as well, especially when they kept their claws to themselves. The little, possible, jab at herself did not go unnoticed either...but with the Branxton boys having a knack for self deprecating humor so it the comment was water off a duck's back and elicited a chuckle instead. It was true that humanity tended to undervalue the minds of those perceived beneath them and it was that hubris that could result in some nasty scratches. "I'm not so sure about there being hairless kneazles, but there certainly are allergy potions to counter any fur allergies that a hopeful owner could take," he nodded thoughtfully. Sure, it wasn't exactly a completely carefree relationship if you had to rely on a brew to get by, but there were options. "I grew up on a loch, so suppose the family pet was a kelpie," he mused, the smile easily reaching his eyes as he reflected upon his upbringing and the homecooked meal from mum waiting for him tomorrow evening.
Both brows rose and he put his paperwork down on the shelf beside them to offer Aurora a little round of applause. "It may not be your best subject but with the proper motivation you will surprise yourself," he encouraged - and, clearly, the little Ravenclaw had grown and realized some untapped potential during this assignment. His own project, had there been one during the terms he took Potions, would have likely been a new film developing solution. If there was a way he could develop film on the fly and not require a dark room...that would be rather nifty. But then again, there was charm in doing things the more traditional way and if a method was not broke then there really was no need to fix it. And besides, he was nearly don't with the renovations of one of the closets in his and Olivia's flat that would give him his own little dark room and it would be a shame to waste all that effort.

It wouldn’t be the first time that she had been accused of rambling, it also was unlikely to affect her anyway for no matter how many times she was told she talked too much she continued to do so. She’d be extra thrilled to hear Cooper’s appreciation of her ‘sharing of enthusiasm’ though, not that the blonde needed the encouragement but it helped to ease the minor imposter syndrome she was feeling being a newly turned sixteen-year-old in the workplace.
“That’s a shame..” she mused over there being a lack of hairless Kneazles. “Uncle Bradley’s has to wear a jumper in the winter because he gets too cold. And his wrinkles make him look especially grumpy even when he’s purring.” Most people were creeped out by him but stroking the cat felt like touching suede, they were surprisingly soft and oh so affectionate. She’d heard of anti-allergen potions but the thought of taking one every day because of something as debilitating as an allergy to pet fur just.. well it sucked and she felt sorry for them.
Now that was particularly interesting. Kelpie’s, as horse-like in appearance as they were, were not on Aurora’s list of potential pets for the future. She supposed she couldn’t quite get over the eating humans bit even if the possibility of taming it was on the cards. “Did you ride it?” she asked, nonchalantly twirling a Crup collar from the display around on her finger.
An applause would normally call for a curtesy of appreciation but Aurora was too busy wracking her brains for the exact methodology she had used for her potion. “I hope so, I might have to look for a tutor for my NEWTs. My best friends will all have graduated by the time I get to my seventh year and they are usually my study buddies.” Not that that was a thought that bear thinking about right this second.

Though it was some time ago, the former Captain remembered it like it was yesterday, "I felt a connection with mum at first sight.. I just didn't realize how much I loved her until later on when we had the stars above us to share." "The radio isn't wrong about that, people realize how much they love each other at different moments. It can be first sight, days, months, even years. As long as both feel the same way, the ending matters more." As he recalled the moment, Kirk did notice the rat JT was eyeing. "You see anything you like?"

He had never been one to be particularly fond of putting creatures in clothing, though he knew many people who enjoyed the pastime. He had also been a photographer had enough functions and seen enough creatures in everything from campy costumes to sleek formalwear and could admit that the right fit was positively adorable. "Sounds adorable," Cooper smiled. "Does he get to partake in the whole ugly jumper tradition of the holidays?" Apparently Cooper lacked a certain sense of style and he wore such garments rather naturally - Mercer was kind enough to insist that it was just a unique style, but his little sister was a bit more forthcoming in her opinions.
"We've all taken a ride on them before," he nodded with an even more nostalgia sort of smile. "Dad is by far the best at getting them to cooperate and settling in for a mount...and my little brother," he chuckled and shook his head while running a hand through his hair. "He nearly drowned so many times trying to be as good as dad, too persistent for his own good, but he got there eventually." And used it as a flex with Mitsuki once or twice, though he wasn't so sure that she was particularly impressed by it or not. He hoped, for Mercer's sake, she had been though. "I've jockeyed winged horses more than I have ridden our loch's kelpie though, trilling as it is to get to do it...sometimes being submerged underwater like that gives me the heebie jeebies." He wasn't a terrible swimmer but he wasn't a strong one either...and especially not a thrill seeker nor that brand of adventurer.
Cooper could somewhat relate to that feeling of being left behind. Chasing the heels of Phoebe, Theodore, and the whole gang of Stark Schooldom, all of them a year older than himself, and never quite catching up nor never quite fitting in had contributed to a lot of his insecurities and scrutinies of himself. It kind of wasn't until he allowed himself to be out from under the shadow of all these friends he looked up to so much that he really understood how much he already was on his own and how much he could do. He sensed the sadness and fear of her friends graduating and understood it instantly, which was what motivated the tender smile that danced across his scruffy jawline. "For sure utilize the resource that is your head of house or the professor of the particular subject you need help in," he nodded encouragingly. "They'll know some of your peers they can connect you with or even open up some office hours for you specifically for review and NEWT studies." He paused and a moment and tapped his forehead with his palm as if it would shake the information free from his brain. "Potions...is that still Professor Adara?" It was hard to keep up with these things now that he had no siblings left at Hogwarts and no students at Hogwarts left that he had attended with personally to keep him up to speed in letters.
Bloody hell he was getting old.

Aurora wasn’t sure it was her uncle’s usual style either but needs must and a simple wool jumper was better than the poor cat from freezing in the harsh winter. Her aunt meanwhile was exactly the type. They were a strange couple of complete opposites that seemed to work so well together. “My Aunt Kat wouldn’t call it an ugly jumper, she knits them herself” she giggled. And it wasn’t the cat who was most unimpressed by the request to wear festive garments but rather her own Ma and her aforementioned Uncle who often looked disgruntled and lacking festive cheer.
For as long as the Ravenclaw could remember, she had been obsessed with the idea of owning and riding a horse. Unfortunately the constraints of the centre of London did not accommodate her dream and she’d only managed to ride a pony on occasion. Being able to ride a Kelpie, as both terrifying and enthralling as the idea might have been, was definitely not on her agenda. “I’ve heard they aren’t the easiest to tame. Your family must be really good at it.” Especially considering that Kelpie’s had a reputation for trying to drown humans. “I’ve only ever ridden ordinary horses with their feet firmly on the ground. I’m terrible on the broom, I’m worried winged horses might be the same.” The outcome must be incredible, the process maybe not so.
It was okay, Aurora was a master at disguising how she really felt in favour of keeping up her sunny persona. Being left behind was a horrible thought, she was instead focusing on making the most of the year ahead of her. She supposed that her lonely last year at Hogwarts would be consumed by studying anyway. “I tried helping a friend study once, made him flash cards and everything but.. I think I was too distracting. I go on tangents sometimes, or I talk too much, or I’m too happy..” She couldn’t help it, no matter how hard she tried, everything was too exciting for her to keep her mouth shut and her emotions in check. “Mhmm..” she nodded, about to ask whether she had taught him only to remember that she herself had a different Professor in the first couple of years of her education.
“Do you have to make your own healing potions for creatures? Or do you buy them?” She asked. She hoped it was the latter, for her own sake.

I didn't know how to describe it other than it made us want to talk with each other. I do think that counts as love in a way.
Daddy's words, and hair stroking was reassuring so JT relaxed just a little as he still eyed up one of the rats in the cage with interest until another thought came to mind, and he blurted out worriedly. "But dad what if Buzz will think that my new pet like that rat," he gestured to the rat with the long tail and whiskers again that was doing tricks in the cage so that his dad knew who he was interested in. "As food, and eat him up? Is it safer to go with a cat or an owl? I don't want Buzz to get all weird on me. He has to like my new school companion." He knew that mummy and daddy were just an owl away if he needed help with something when he was away at Hogwarts and he knew that some of his professor's were okay to talk to too. "Do you think I can sleep under the enchanted ceiling in the great hall if I want to be alone?"
"I hope I someday I will find someone who will love me just as much as you love mummy," JT said. "Maybe I will even meet them on the train ride to school." It was possible. He was about to say something more when suddenly something big and red literally fell down from the ceiling, and landed on JT's head causing him to topple over, and land with a hard thump on the floor hitting his head, with a red cat lying ontop of his chest eyeing him up. When his head finally stopped spinning, and his eyes finally focused on the cat he whispered out shakily. "Um, Hi! Who are you?"

"Ah," Cooper chuckled with a polite bow of the head. "I certainly meant no offense so please do not tell her, or the felines, that I accidently called her handiwork ugly." He was saying so in jest, of course, and it seemed as though they were both on the same page of the same book in this being a lighthearted conversation - even if his sincerity was entirely genuine on top of his playfulness. An aunt nicknamed Cat though, he had a mum with that nickname and the blonde would have quirked a brow in speculation were it not for the fact that his very Italian side of the family were all entirely too invested in each other so there was no way room for error. That and, well, Cat was a rather common nickname. "And I am sure the cats appreciate her effort as well."
Cooper considered for a moment as to whether or not the family were particularly gifted with kelpies or...was it more of a coincidence? "I think it is more the kelpie population on the loch got accustomed to a wizarding family living nearby who also happened to have an infatuation with creatures. You know this, how creatures have a special sense that just makes them know what people are more their people...and even if the person is not then said creature will turn that person into one of their people." A very complicated train of consciousness there but ... hopefully Aurora followed it all without too much trouble. "Ah, well, dad had me on a broom before I could even walk...he was just too eager to have a son to teach things too. He played professional quidditch after graduating from Hogwarts for the Wigtown Wanderers and I think...had sort of been hoping I would follow in his footsteps to a degree...but I was more drawn to broom racing, though that did not really stick either. So...all that to say I am a poor judge of the comparison since I was brooms first hooves later, but I don't really find them to be comparable and...should the opportunity arise...you should give it a try." He would offer a trip to Monsieur Benoit's ranch but that felt like it may be too grand an offering considering it was in France. But, perhaps, if her mums weren't opposed to it, maybe it could be possible. "Especially on a calm winged horse, like Sunflower."
Cooper smiled, finding her struggles with studying and helping a friend both relatable and not simultaneously, and nodded along. "That was a kind gesture of you though, even if the study session did not turn out to be as productive as you had hoped," he encouraged. "You're a bright girl, Aurora, and you have a clear goal in mind for what you want to do. Use that to your advantage to help you hone in and not distract yourself."
But also...speaking of distractions...he probably should get to all that paperwork he really did not want to file and go over, but he did have a couple of afternoon appointments and he really did not want to get behind too much.
"I do not brew anything...and I can confirm that we do not brew anything in the shop either, so it all comes from the supplier," he chuckled. "So, to answer that question I think is hiding between your words, you do not have to be able to brew the healing potions you use in order to be a creature healer," he explained with a playful wink. "That being said, knowing some immediate tricks with magical plants and ingredients could help save a life in a pinch so it is good to have at least a basic foundation."

Your secret's safe with her, Cooper. Mostly because by the time Christmas rolled around and Aurora was exposed to her aunt Kat’s handiwork she would’ve forgotten about this conversation entirely. That and Rora didn’t enjoy upsetting people, as unintentional as it might have been, the guilt would eat away at her forever. “I won’t but maybe I’ll ask her to knit you a jumper this year.” Or the Kelpie but she imagined that would be an especially difficult achievement to both create and try to wrangle onto the creature. Kat in this instance was short for Katrina, the nickname was ironic in the sense that she was much more of a sweet excitable dog than her outwardly grumpy (but secretly squishy) husband.
She didn’t mean to make this entire conversation about felines but everything seemed to fit. “Or the opposite, like when cats know someone ISN’T a cat person and then purposefully takes residence on their lap for the whole visit,” she giggled. There was nothing more amusing than a non-creature person being inflicted with a creature's presence much to their chagrin.
Quidditch, or flying in general, wasn’t on anyone’s agenda in the Ackerly household and so the encouragement hadn’t been there. Her Ma might as well have been a Muggle who favoured sports very much so on the ground like Hockey and her Mom and sister were more into fitness than sports. “I admit I don’t know much about Quidditch at all but if I was going to support a team it would be the Holyhead Harpies. They’re the female team right?” The family was all about female empowerment, poor Ander didn’t stand a chance. Unfortunately for Cooper, Aurora would take that suggestion as an invitation for inviting herself to wherever Sunflower was stabled.
The Ravenclaw wasn’t totally oblivious to the fact her academic struggles were attributed to too many ideas in her head that she struggled to narrow down and that her mind tended to wander creatively towards the coulds and not the definitelies. She was not stupid by any means and yet amongst some of her peers who appeared to know everything despite being much younger than herself, she couldn’t help but to feel inadequate sometimes. It therefore wasn’t frequently that she would be described as ‘bright’ by anyone but her parents, a compliment that was received by some serious flushing of the cheeks. “I’ll try” Was about as much she could muster through her mild fluster.
The last term had proved that she wasn’t incapable of putting the research in nor of understanding the purpose of different ingredients in a potion, it was just the arduous task of brewing that she had a problem with. She could do it if she tried but it was something she’d rather leave to the experts. “That’s a relief” she grinned, having swiftly got over the tongue-tiedness of earlier. “Like Dittany!” She spoke proudly. That one she had done a LOT of research on and knew that digestion in the raw form could heal moderate wounds. “I used that one for my Kneazle Scratch Loti—” she started before the ominous sound of howling came from the Crup room. “I should probably go..” She drew out before swiveling on her heels and bouncing off to check out the situation for herself, ponytail swinging behind her in perfect rhythm. “I’ll talk to you later, Coopie!” Came a fading voice as she disappeared beyond view.

It was a valid concern, since ferrets enjoyed rats and Jarveys resembled them greatly in appearance other than size. "Well, that is true though Buzz hasn't been given any rats to feast on in the past to give it any craving. We could arrange them to meet and see how things fare out.. But an owl or cat will also be safe and can tend to itself without needing as much supervision." He was more taken to owls because... well, he was a former Eagle. Birds of a feather flock together and all that. But it was JT's decision in the end and he would support them. Smiling at the thought, "You could... though I imagine your sleep will be interrupted if the Caretaker happens to check the area." Instead suggesting, "The Astronomy Tower was my favorite area away from the Great Hall."
It was this moment exactly, that got Kirk to feel warm in his heart. He could remember saying some of the exact same words to his dad and well, here he was trying not to get too welled up. "As long as you remain true to yourself, you will find someone worthy of your love." He would add the stars will show the way, but that was something he had figured out on his own time and hoped JT would learn the same way. "You just might. As long as you put yourself out there, check out some clubs and you'll meet people that you'll grow to like and someone may feel the same about you, even more so." Though it was important to join for fun and not just to find someone to spend time with. But JT was a sharp kid and Kirk knew he didn't need to remind him. Then suddenly, they encountered a furry little surprise.
Kirk immediately crouched so he could hold him up in his Keeper arms. "James! Are you hurt?" It was only serious matters that his true name came out. But a red bushy cat seemed to obscure most of the view. He sounded okay but spooked. His blue eyes focusing on the red cat and JT. The important thing next was to keep calm, "It's alright, I think they just want your scent first." He offered his hand closed to offer the cat whilst moving his other hand to the back of JT's head so he could lift him slightly without spooking the cat even more.

Cooper appreciated a great many things in life but handmade gifts were among the top in this category. Even if this charitable thought never came to fruition and he never had a new jumper in his hands, he was incredibly touched by the kindness. "It would be my esteemed honor to join the ranks of hairless cats," he chuckled with a gentlemanly bow from the waist. Truly, he probably could use a couple more jumpers since he was still wearing a couple that were a tad too tight but he had not yet passed down to Mercer but really should. Cooper simply nodded and chuckled a bit more loudly, knowingly, at the whole feline intuition. He had even seen it transition happen right here in this shop with people who came in looking for a rat or crup or even a pygmy puff and walk out instead with a kneazle.
"That certainly is," he smiled fondly. "A friend of mine played for them for time once she graduated from Hogwarts before ultimately moving on to something else. Another played for the Wasps before moving to France and joining a team there." He may have never joined the sport professionally himself, but he was certainly well in the circle of influence now. Took shoots for the Wanderers sometimes as well, a perk of being a 'legacy' child or whatever embarrassingly nepotistic term the current manager used. "I really should have all my loyalty to dad's team but...my chosen uncles played for other teams and I have mates scattered about others...so I make for a pretty poor quidditch fan in that regard," he laughed. The invitation to meet Sunflower was a point that would surely be revisited in the near future...which then meant he had some moms to meet and a short excursion to France to plan out.
Cooper had finally evolved to a point where he could more easily gauge the influence of his presence on others, so her blossoming cheeks did not go unnoticed. Rather than point them out, he did a quintessential Braxton Boy maneuver and offered her two very enthusiastic thumbs up and an accompanying grin of encouragement. The Ravenclaw did not really have the opportunity to get a word in before a crup started howling and his next appointment stepped in with a fanfare jingle from the bell above the door. "Of course, I'll see you again before your shift ends," he promised with a nod as the small blonde went scampering off.
"Coopie..." he muttered with an amused shake of the head as he buttoned up his robe and stepped forward to greet his next client and soon had disappeared into his creature healing office with the gentle click of the door closing shut.
