Noltie's Botanical Novelties is a peculiar little shop which looks as though humanity has abandoned it entirely and nature is trying its best to take over. While the storefront is similar in appearance to the stores on either side, tendrils of plants have broken through and weaved in and out of the brickwork and there are strange and beautiful flowers seemingly growing right out of the mortar.
Inside the store its generally humid like a greenhouse and it smells fresh and loamy - definitely heaven for anyone with the proverbial green thumb. The plants are organised by their geographic origins, and as you approach certain areas you might notice temperature changes and weather charms expertly in place to best serve the plants in question.
Noltie's prides itself on acquiring and stocking only the best magical and mundane herbology supplies. Even those plants which are not on the permanent inventory can be acquired on request, so too can almost any non-magical plant, for a price. Nothing illegal is stocked here. Noltie's will not sell dangerous plants to minors, or anything that requires a license without the appropriate paperwork, everything in this store is above board, though we have heard there is a shop in Knockturn Alley that takes care of that sort of thing...

Maybe that was something she could get a future ticket to from Avery - again, out of curiosity of course.
She loved being predictable - honestly. Knowing Julia was already anticipating what she might have been thinking would have brought her large amounts of amusement and pleasure. But it was fun to keep one on their toes too - mix things up by giving the occasional break from her flirtatious nature. With any luck, maybe the other girl would miss it or just spend more time later thinking about what it could have been. “Being the youngest is the best I imagine. By default, doesn’t that give you a pass to delegate some of the responsibility?” Perks of having been born second, right? Though that was just what she figured having observed the Sawyer’s. The youngest certainly had it made in that family.
While she didn’t mind terribly talking about her brother, it was still appreciated when people backed off. So Julia just got a return smile at her nod while the red head happily moved on to other topics.
At the mention of being forwarded, Shay threw her head back and laughed before regaining her composure quickly and giving a small shrug. “Ever notice how much time people waste with subtlety? Life’s too short to not be direct.” One of her mottos, as it were. “Is the idea of me seeing you again not welcomed?” She wasn’t a monster, if she was making the girl uncomfortable she could certainly back off. But she was taking the blush to her cheeks, present moment included, as a good sign.
Yet another comment made her cheeks feel slightly warmer than they normally would have. Fortunately this time her skin didn't get warm enough to redden. If anything it was a light shade of pink. But Julia could not deny that she knew how to outshine people. She had done it more times than she could count in her youth, left her mark at Beauxbatons, and had even gotten into WADA. Things just got a little more muddled at the performing arts school with all that talent under one roof. "It'll be if it's meant to be," she responded with a smile. Even if fame and glory didn't happen, at least she'd be doing something she loved.
"It does have its perks. I certainly am the baby of the family," the brunette had to admit. "But, at the same time, there is a lot of pressure that comes with it. If you have a sister like mine, there's quite a bit you have to live up to." Which was why she had pushed herself to the brim when it came to dancing. Further details on that were for a later, much later, discussion.
The directness was something that Julia did not mind at all, even if it did ultimately cause her to blush in front of someone she had just met. In fact, she found herself not able to disagree with Siofra's words at all, though she couldn't say she paid much attention to the amount of time people wasted by beating around the bush. "You're not wrong," she commented. "Carpe diem and all of that."
Now, in response to the last phrase that came out of the redhead's mouth, the brunette smirked a little. "To be determined," she teased as they began to walk away from Noltie's. "I guess we'll see where we stand after a few cocktails."
While Flourish and Blotts was Gilly's safe haven, it didn't take terribly long for Drake to realize Noltie's was his. He liked going in and looking at the assortment of plants available, and what literature they had available was also far more curated to his tastes that it was fun to pick up the books and carefully peer through the pages.
Which was exactly what he was doing at the present moment. Having been in the shop for a few moments, he'd found his way to the shelves and pulled a spine out so he could flip through - not even registering the name of the title, but certainly admiring the diagrams with in. Drawing plants all day every day sounded nice. Glancing around this way and that, he found a corner of wall to lean against as he continued to do so.

The first time Phoebe had access to a garden was when she'd arrived at Stemp House at age 7 (before then, she only remembered living in apartments). She'd loved plants every since, and even had a few of her own. Right now, she wasn't allowed to buy any more (not that she had the money to anyways), but that didn't stop Pheebs from hanging around Noltie's Botanical Novelties. She hung around the store like a clumsy little ghost, looking at all the plants and occasionally asking if there was anything she could help with. Today, she was drawing a little picture of a dittany plant to give to the shopkeeper and 'bugging'(at least, she was worried that she was bugging) them with tons of questions about the healing plant. When she was done with all of her questions, she drifted over to Drake, who was standing in the corner. "Can I look at your book too? Please?" She didn't want to encroach on his personal space without permission.

He was so engrossed in looking at all of the pictures, and reading a few excerpts about different variations of common plants he'd known about previously, that Drake hadn't even noticed much about his surroundings. Including the presence of his sister's dormmate (and one whom he would consider a friend). It was only when the familiar voice was quietly asking to look at the book too, that Drake's attention snapped upwards and brown eyes settled on Phoebe.
"Oh hi!" The curly haired boy greeted her enthusiastically, scooting more towards a corner to make some extra space against the wall for her to squeeze in too. "Of course you can! Have you seen this one before? I don't really pay attention to titles but I don't think I recognize these diagrams." He moved the book to give her a better view.

Although there was nothing on her Hogwarts list here, Sydney Masters had her own reasons for visiting the plant shop. Namely, the venus flytrap plant tucked under her arm. The plant, (somewhat) affectionately named Alastor, needed a larger pot, and this seemed as good a place as any to buy one. She hoped to find one in red, maybe with a nice stripe pattern, but it didn’t matter. She could always paint the pot if she couldn't find a design she liked, but it would save time to just buy one.
As the blonde meandered through the shop, a display of flesh-eating plants caught her eye. COOL!!! She couldn’t wait to turn seventeen so she could get one of those! She’d like a fanged geranium one say, or maybe a venomous tentacula… which she didn’t see in the shop but she’d read about them. Such a shame she was too young!
Sydney may be young, but she was not stupid! She admired the flesh-eating plants from a safe distance, holding Alastor far out of the way.

Noltie’s was definitely not a new place for Marcus, what with his green thumb and one to used to finding comfort in the familiar smells permeating the space. In fact he used the quaint little shop as a cautionary tale on how to be careful not to let his greenspaces completely take over. His gardens and greenhouse weren’t THAT bad or so he defended to his wife and family. It wasn’t like he had any flesh-eating plants where they could harm the kids when they were growing up or any of their friends that happened to be visiting and didn’t have the wherewithal of how to behave around them like Aggie, Lily and Turner themselves did.
And now he had an excuse to see if he needed any more new plants. Granted the greenhouses of Hogwarts were far from bare but Marcus was certainly up for adding his mark to the space. Which was what mainly brought him through the doorway this time around. At least his main excuse at the moment. He had already conversed with the shopkeeper earlier in the summer to work out student supply needs. Hmm…now where to begin?

Did Adrienne need another plant for her apartment? Absolutely not. Which is exactly why she was shopping for a plant for niece, because while that little girl was still young, Adri was determined to be the aunt to support greenery in that child's life. She doubted very much she could rely her brother to teach about plants and while Nora definitely did alright in Herbology, she was the aunt. Then fun nerdy plant obsessed aunt.
She'd definitely need something easy to care for. Difficult to kill. Chocolate brown eyes roaming the shelves, she twirled a lock of hair around her finger, deliberating.

Hmm…nothing dangerous.
He wouldn’t want a student coming to visit him to accidentally stumble on it and have to rush him or her to the hospital wing. THAT would be something he would have to explain to the headmaster and could risk the job, especially as a new hire. Maybe after a few years under his belt after he’s learned what sort of boss the older man was. So that pruned a portion of the available options off of his choices as he moved into one magicked environment. Probably best if its preferred condition was something he himself could stand or charm that way, he mused to himself as he absently turned around a corner…
…and into a young woman causing him to wince and quickly step back. “My apologies…” he remarked honestly. “I should know better than to just wander around plants.”

She was familiar with the plants in the section that she was perusing. They were all relatively mild, but the only thing that gave her pause is that from her recollection they required regular watering. While she loved her niece dearly, she wasn't sure how much she could be expected to water her plants. For one the girl was under five years old, so Adri definitely predicted her to lose interest after a couple weeks at most.
Before she could ponder too much, someone bumped her and as a result ... she herself was caught off guard and extended her palm to brace herself on the shelf. Which she was grateful at that moment to be strapped securely to the ground, for it did provide the necessary support to keep her upright. The downside was that the impact her slamming her palm against the shelf she felt a small twinge as her wrist bent backwards a little too much and she knew instantly it was a broken wrist. Her face winced in pain, she turned around ready to barrage him with questions except he seemed so genuinely sincere as he apologized. "Whoever said plants didn't cause physical pain, was seriously mistaken." She said, sighing and shaking her head. "You don't happen to recall the spell for creating a splint, do you? My healing skills for humans was always lacking." Which was why she chose a career involving plants, not people.

His entire face fell when he registered the wench across her own. Oh Merlin, just what had he done? “I can certainly give them plenty of examples to that fact,” It was truly one of the hazards of being a herbologist and working with the more magical and dangerous types of their ilk. Apparently one of the others was hurting more defenseless young women who you happen upon in a botanical shop.
“Thankfully I do…” he remarked, slipping his wand from his pocket and looking at the woman in askance for permission to cast on her. Of course then he realized she wouldn’t be asking if she didn’t. “Actually works nicely to tie back vining plants as well.” Marcus mused to try and soften the seriousness of the situation. “Hold it out please…” he instructed, giving her a moment to brace herself before focusing and casting “Ferula,” on the poor limb.
