Default Gregory the Smarmy

Further down the fifth-floor corridor awaits a statue of a rather large bald man with several chins. If you know your potions or history well enough, you will be able to identify this medieval wizard as the inventor of Gregory's Unctuous Unction. Though a fine wizard, he is credited for worming his way into King Richard's confidence and making a fortune by administrating his BFF-in-a-vial to the former Muggle ruler.

While Gregory the Smarmy's story may be interesting to some, you might find what he is hiding to be more your scene. Looking closely behind the large man, you just might see a slight opening of a secret passageway. Few, however, have access to the passage and know exactly where it leads because not very many people know how to get the bulky statue to move aside. Trying all of the random passwords you know will result in failure and wasted time. Perhaps you need to take a leaf out of Gregory's book and find a way to excessively flatter him. Good luck.

Emma should have been using her time to study since her grades had always been just barely passing. But it was the beginning of the year, in the fourth year's defense which meant she had plenty of time for studies in the future months.

What she was curious about was finding her way to the Prefect's Bathroom. She'd heard about it from her father, but hadn't really given it much thought until recently. Although once she found it, it wouldn't do much good since it was password protected, but surely it couldn't be that difficult to sneak into? The problem lied in actually finding the bathroom because she only a vague idea of its location. It wasn't as if Hogwarts had proper signage indicating every room in the castle. Legend had it that there was a map, but she zero clue of its whereabouts or if it still existed. That left aimless wandering on the Hufflepuff's part, starting with some of the statues. If it came to it, she'd talk with the portraits on the wall, knowing full well they gossiped.

Rose was going to study with the other lionesses, but had gotten distracted by a passage in her now very thumbed edition of hogwarts a history. Why did the Prefect's need their own bathroom or carriage on the train for that matter? What was so special about being selected to be a house prefect? Rose knew what a prefect was of course since they had had that at her old school too but still a bathroom. Feeling adventourous the fourth year brunette went on an exploration trip. Knowing what lied where Rose saw as an added bonus as she curiously studied the different portraits and suits of armour that just seemed to be everywhere.

She had come to the fifth floor when Rose happened upon another fourth year, a blonde which she recognized, and made her smile broadly. "Hi Emma, are you here to look for the prefect's bathroom too?"

Emma was usually pretty intuitive and aware, except when she was diligently focused, which was exactly what happened in the next few moments as she prodded the statue, wondering if it needed some sort of passcode or perhaps if it merely just knew based on facial recognition of her lack of prefect status and therefore wouldn't reveal itself.

It was the voice that made her jump in surprise, wondering at first if it was an older student telling her she shouldn't be loitering. But quickly relaxed when she realized it was just her new friend Rose. What did surprise her however was the question? Did Rose read minds?? "Hi Rose. Are you ... you're a seer?" Emma asked incredulously. She never really 'understood divination', but perhaps her new Gryffindor friend could help her. Prefect bathroom could wait. There was slim chance they'd be able to enter it anyway.

Her budding new friend Emma was prodding a statue on the fifth floor which Rose thought was mighty curious. Could the statue lead them into the prefect's bathroom? It was possible since tickling a fruit lead way into the kitchens. Before Rose could stick out her own hand out to inspect the statue she had startled Emma which caused her blonde friend to ask something very unexpected which startled Rose into silence.

It took some head shaking before Rose shook her head and answered back "Hi Emma! No, I'm not a seer. Atleast I don't think I am, but my great grandma Mildred was one back in the days. Why do you ask?" Steeping closer to the statue Rose leaned in to examine it more closely. "Do you need to tickle the statue in a certain spot to open the door to the prefects lair?" She wondered out loud.

Anything was possible, but truth be told, Emma was more than willing to bet on higher security standards for something as elusive as the Prefect's Bathroom. It was like the Headmaster's office, that changed passcodes with the wind.

Pulling back from the statue to study her new friend, shook her head. "It's just cause well, I hadn't mentioned anything of a Prefect's bathroom to you before, so I was merely curious if you'd been reading my mind. But perhaps it was just pure coincidental." She watched Rose now examining the statue. "I'm thinking it's password protected. But I'm also willing to bet we're probably not quite in the right area. No matter, I'm kind of hungry anyway ... kitchens?" She grinned. At least that was a place she knew it's exact whereabouts.
