Lesson: CoMC Activity

It was a beautiful sun shiny day. Perfect weather in the early days of April to get outside and enjoy the fresh air. Meet up with friends. Or perhaps join Professor Paton out on the grounds in the pasture for a Creatures Activity.

Birds could be heard chirping in trees, butterflies and bees visiting the flowers that were just starting to bloom. These were only some of the creatures out and about as the students made their way to the pasture where Hady was waiting for them. Nothing at all today was left secret, several long tables were set up. One for drinks of various kinds, another with some snacks. The main featured snack being cookies in the shape of today's creature, cookies everyone would get to decorate for themselves!

Another table had loads of arts and crafts supplies of all kinds, feathers, markers, glue, glitter, fabrics. If the students might need it for this fun project, chances were it was there. The final table was empty but had chairs around it for them all to work at.

Their professor was tending to a bird that was making sounds similar to cries. Over and over again this is what could be heard from the Augurey. It was too much of a lovely day for rain, no?

Was he dressed comfortably? Yes. Was he enjoying this fine weather today? Also yes. It was difficult to believe his fourth year was winding down. In a handful of months, he’d be a fifth with a bunch of exams on his shoulders. But that was a problem for the distant-ish future.

Making it to the pastures, the Slytherin observed the surroundings. What had Aunty Hady planned for them today? Tables, food and artsy supplies. It seemed she had planned a lot for her students. But hang on…

That was an Augurey!

Being a creatures lover, Ary could barely contain his excitement as he quickly went over to Hady. “Need some help, Professor?” he asked hopefully.

JT liked creatures, and taking apart in a fun outdoorsy activity involving creatures of the unknown variety sounded exciting. The second year snake boy, dressed comfortably, but sensible since it was still fickly april weather and headed down to grounds and pastures for the activity. JT hoped that they'd get to pet, and help tend to some creatures, but time would tell. He heard the bird cries long before he saw Aryan and Professor Paton in the pasture along with a bird that he recognized from his CoMC book to be augurey. Would they be working with birds today? Ooh maybe he'd get to see a phoenix, that'd be awesome. Approaching Professor Paton and Aryan he called out with a big smile "Hi Professor Paton, and Hi Ary! Will this be a bird activity?" The question was of course directed to Professor Paton since she was the organizer of the activity.

Bryony couldn't be more ready for today's activities if she tried. Long blonde hair was pulled back off her face into a messy french braid, and she had on a comfortable pair of purple overalls with a stripped shirt. Whatever her mama had planned, this girl was ready for it! Her excitement was clear as she skipped over to join those already gathered in the pasture, blue eyes trying to take in all the tables at once.

"Ary! Hi JT, hiya mama!" She beamed, wiggling her fingers in greeting. "What are we do-..." The question fell short on her lips as she spotted the bird that was making all that news. Poor thing. Such a pretty Augurey for it to be crying like that. "Ooooh, so pretty!" Hi there birdie!


There was a shift in Hady's attention as the students began to arrive. Her smile growing as she hears her nephew's voice and the excitement within it. "Hello there, Mister Atreyu-Rehman." She looked between him and the wailing Augurey. "I would love some help. Our visitor here.." There was a nod of her head at the greenish-black bird, "Seems to be telling me that there's rain coming. Now, it doesn't feel like rain is on the way, but.. I do have high trust in the creatures knowing what they are crying about. What do you think?" Will their activities this afternoon be rained out?

The following young snake to arrive got a wave in greeting as she spoke. "Good afternoon, Mister Forsfelle. Yes, it will be! On top of meeting our new friend here..," Cue a nice long shrieking cry from the Augurey. "There's other things planned." Not to worry, she would fill them all in on things shortly!

Annnnd yet another Slytherin to join them. This one her own daughter. "Hello Miss Paton." No correction was made this time at being addressed as 'mama', as she was trying not to grin about it today. "Indeed, this is a very lovely bird." Hopefully the things planned would take the students minds off of the mysterious graying affect that has been taking place on most everything and everything around them all.

"If you like you're welcome to come over and interact with our friends here. For those that don't know, this is an Augurey. Her name is Stormy because her cries for tell rain." A fitting name she thought. "Despite her cries she is very friendly." So the students need not worry about getting close to her. "There's also drinks and snacks for anyone that's hungry... Including some special cookies for you all to decorate yourselves featuring Augurey's. And lots of supplies for everyone to create their very own Augurey." They could make a puppet, a statue, a stuffie.. whatever their hearts desired!
