there IS a story behind this one. it's dedicated to charlie upstead, the littlest
upstead in my personal arsenal. he's prone to serious illness and so his dad is
very protective and doesn't really like to let him do sports or anything
especially physical, because being too active can set him off. but charlie is very
lively and active when he's doing okay, and does want to do sports. he's also
very strong-willed and does not tend to listen or do what he's told, and is
absolutely the kind of kid who would benefit from the outlet of sports if not for
the not-being-very-well thing.

point is, jake tries to direct charlie's interests elsewhere to keep him occupied,
with varying degrees of success. he tries to read with him and at one point got
him into greek mythologies and legends and heroes. kind of backfired, but
again, that's not for here. so here we are, with an ancient greek helm, sword,
and shield. only used a reference for the helmet so uh. yeah. shield is wonky.

I almost posted this for 'bronze' but ultimately charlie claimed it with
'protective', and apparently he's the boss.

I really love the selective coloring you did in Blue and Green. The color layering and values and clothing folds you got are really nice. That is an outstanding watering can the spout (spout? That's what the bit where the water comes out is called...right? Like a little teapot?) is really eye catching. Your perspective here is really really nice.

I love me some ancient Greek references and this is so nice. I especially like the use of your color pencils with this one. The shading and metallic texture you achieved

I have been ridiculously busy with assignment stuff this week but finally found
time to do my last prompts (and now to finish catching up in all the threads).
I had intended for this and the next two prompts to be like #29 and #30 but
time was yet again not on my side. so I decided to practice with my markers,
which clearly is necessary because the blending is either not great or not
noticeable. but it's fun so.

my pencil sketches were much better and I predictably regretted doing the line
work in ink immediately because that's where I always mess up. but I'm pretty
happy with this.

this is Lucky Fuller-Thompson, eldest son of Tobias Fuller-Thompson. to be
honest I mostly just wanted to draw him and found a prompt to fit him. the
one I chose is Herbivicus just because at the moment he's in that stage of his
adolescence where he's on the brink of adulthood and accepting what he needs
to do to grow and reach his full potential. iirc the hat seriously considered
Hufflepuff for him so it was nice to have a ~hufflepuff~-ish prompt for him.

day twenty-seven:

Things Went Wrong and a big part of said Things was me not letting the fine
liner dry entirely plus not actually knowing what I was doing before I got
stuck in with the Everything. v happy with his hair though.

my very own half-blood prince. daxton prince, son of a muggle and a wizard.
(I still think I'm hilarious and it is still my fatal flaw). father of angelo milano
evans. riddled with mistakes both in art form and just himself as a person. this
is daxton around the age of 11 or so because when I was drawing it my brain
kept returning to the hatstall prompt even though I'd already done it, so I gave
in to it and now he's a first year again.

day twenty-nine:

faaaaaace.

noah fence. well on his way to being an obscurial before all the big bad
dramatic things happen that resulted in him wandering wizarding london with
his mind wiped and his memories gone. they caught it early, before it got
serious, and it was partly because his mind was wiped that he was able to
recover, and other than that, some heavy duty healing and therapy. everything
to do with this little bean has always been very dramatic.

and this is him now kind of. ran out of time to finish the hair.

anothah one.

anaximander (ax) flint. believes he is cursed. was in fact under a literal curse
until recently, and believes it is still in effect. probably believes it in the
general sense too. one of my very many angry boyz. looks far too happy here.

(as is always the case with my pencil drawings this and #29 do not photograph
well and actually look a lot better in the not-flesh despite the mistakes. FULL
disclaimer: I used the grid method to get the general outline for these last two
pieces because of time issues, though then ended up adjusting those bare
bones anyway. still. it cut a lot of time out and I cannot take full credit for these
last two pieces turning out well. more than anything I wanted to practice
shading features and figuring out which of aspect of faces (ha) I find the most
difficult/need to practice most. (it's the whole thing.))
