Hello and thank you for peeking into my Seektober thread for 2022. I flip flopped a bit on which Professor because these lists are all brilliant, BUT in honor of my first Ravenclaw graduating soon, it seemed fitting to focus on Filius Flitwick. Last year, my challenge was completed using mixed media but this year I hope to complete through drawings only. I had originally planned on doing the aparecium challenge but... see above regarding flip flopping. I did already print the printable so in an effort to save some trees, I'll be using that to complete for Flitwick.
For those who followed last year, Seektober was a fun journey my kids and I did together and we'll be reprising that a bit with my oldest doing drawings with me each day, so don't be surprised if there are two compilations that pop up here and there!
Oh my, that fwooper is really so cute! I just love the bright colors too! And yes, I think Accio would be especially helpful as I lose things as soon as I set them down lmao.

Thank you, Roro! And I must say, it is SO good to see your UN around!!

I often think that, of all the spells, Accio is the one I wish was real TOO. Just bring me the thing I want, especially the lost thing. Thank you for Larry's hairbrush, so we always know where to find it.
Thank you! It's definitely fun getting their input too. They're the greatest tiny cheerleaders too which helps the motivation to do it!
Right!? Accio and Apparation are what I want around! They would be so useful and fix SO many of our every day issues!! No work commutes! No missing keys!

Thank you, Kath! The more I look at the Fwooper's angry little face the more I like him. I do like having an easy place to look back on with these seektobers threads for a mini project with the tiny humans. :3

Thank you, MJ! I'm a big fan of going bright Ugh I empathize with you there. The amount of time I spend in a day looking for my phone lmao

9. Swish and Flick
So... this one definitely shows I think how squirrely my brain can go. What stood out to me for this prompt was Flick, and I couldn't help but think of the protagonist from A Bugs Life (which is a favorite movie in our household!). I was telling my husband about it and he requested I also add a basketball to represent the swish part. And... voila!
I would not refer to myself as an artist, but this is fun so I did attempt to make a doodle of my kitty, Manny. I went with squeak for him because he does this meow when he's super sleepy where his mouth opens and just a little squeak comes out It is super cute, but I'm also really biased towards him.
For this prompt, I went with tiny charms on a necklace to represent. I was going to try to do things to represent my family, but last minute a few of my 'favorite' (or perhaps just currently loudest) characters popped into my head so I decided to represent them instead.
We have little ballet shoes for my most problematic, Kimberly Amstern, whose always had a passion for dance even if she decided to do something else professionally. The paint palette is for my little artist, Tavion Sawyer. Sailboat for Pablo Leventis and his one track mind (two tracks I guess if you can't girls. This boy, I cannot.) Books for Evan and the little sun at the end is for one of my lesser played, Ekaterina Kong, who has earned the nickname Sunshine from her loved ones for her generally bubbly personality.
There was only one character who popped into mind that fits the term 'gentle', and that is Gray Russell-Liu. Gray is a currently employee at the Ministry of Magic, working in DERP. Gray was my secondary ministry character for a year IC before I swapped out for Sookie. He is.. the exact opposite of his mom, Nekoda Russell who was one of my first characters I played here on SS. While Kodee is generally unforgiving and quick to anger, Gray is sweet and patient. He's a big fan of herbology, which is why I choose to doodle a potted plant for him. And just flowers because they're fun color pops to add. lol
Duellist felt it had to be an ode to my little spitball Vera. She is CONVINCED she is natural born talent as a duellist. And her favorite things are chocolate and rainbows, hence this rather simple drawing. :3 I'm a big fan of rainbows so despite the simplicity on this one, it was one of my faves so far.
I refer to the kiddos as goblins one and two, so for this one I did their favorite animals. My son is O B S E S S E D with pandas. Which is honestly very fitting for his personality. And my daughter, the Leo of the household, has always had a particular interest in lions.
oh boy, you've done loads since I was last here *-* and I can't help but react to them all so i'm sorry in advance but aaaaaa i can't wait to see the pages from the tiny humans too omg
firstly, something about that fwooper feels very relatable, and I love everything about it but look at those little (big) eeeeyes. also your son insisting on 'blue ninja' on the green book was a true power move.
I'm so with you on the accio spell thing, and it's that you used a lost and found box in the prompt for it.
'swish and flick' got me good - I recognised flick before i made the connection to swish but omg that was pure gold. beautiful. and squeak!!!! kitty in a bowtie!!!!!! you have won the entire month just for that. and the charms one is so perfect, those teeny tiny little charm doodles, and the connection to your characters ;; winged keys I think is another favourite of mine, look how they POP against the background, A+. I particularly love the border detail on gentle, it really looks so good with the plant in the middle.
i saw duellist and was like
heheh. I really enjoy how you connected this one to vera and portrayed her it :3 and your thinking behind goblin made me chuckle and reminds me of one of my characters who affectionately refers to his youngest children as the same. the lion and the panda are so cute ;; remind me of stuffed animals (mostly because when I first glanced at this I thought this was the immobulus prompt and my brain said 'stuffed animals are allegedly immobile it's true', but then I realised I was not paying attention lol). i love this prompt a lot, one of my favourite prompt-to-piece associations

You posted so much! All at once! A list:
1. Swish and flick? More like squish the flick, am I right?
2. Your distinguished gentleman has a LITTLE BOW TIE! He is so handsome.
3. Your little goblins are super cute. I like the peeks I can see of other images, because it tells me how cool the overall page is going to look.

Okay..but that Swish and FLICK just SENT me I love it and really adore the zanny direction your kids take the prompts with. That's just really special and the minds of children are truly WILD. They come up with things you would never think of
Also...fur baby. Love a good fur baby tribute.

Oh I love your concept for Swish and Flick! It's been forever since I've seen A Bug's Life. My kitty does that little squeak sometimes too and he has a necktie, so I think they totally have to be friends. I especially like your prompts for charms and winged keys, but I continue to love the bright colors in all of them. Phoenix is in duelling club, is Vera as well? They should practice sometime.

I am soft that you take the time to respond on them all. No need to apologize for being encouraging!! Thank you for taking the time! I think for the Fwooper it's the endlessly grumpy looking expression. The more I look at him the more 'grumpy cat' he feels. My son runs the house, he just allows us to live in it.
Next year I should do a series of all the prompts from my husband's viewpoint because the jumps his brain make are w i l d. Thank you for all your kind words!!! And I must say, I got so stuck on immobulus because all I could see was stuffed animals again because your brain made the genius jump. Those ARE always immobile!
Thank you again, friend!!

All these recent uploads are masterpieces
You asked!! How could I not poorly attempt to deliver! It's definitely my favorite picture of him, so I had to try to include the little bow tie.
I like the Ladybug the best from the circus, but Flick is a strong contender!
Thank youuuu, friend!

I did!! I have come to find if I do not spam post them all, I will never finish the month
1. lol you are definitely right. The basketball is really there to take care of the bug problem
2. Thank you! He surprisingly loves it
3. Ahhh thank you! There are definitely some boxes where looking at them next to each other infuriates me but I think for the most part it'll look fine and v i b r a n t at the end.

I'm glad it made someone laugh!! Wacky prompt responses are maybe some of my favorites.
Aah thank you! I have bits of the kids scattered throughout so it feels right to include the fur child too. :3

Thank you! It's such a fun movie! We try to watch it a few times a year since my husband wants the kids to love it as much as he does lol The squeak thing is so cute!! They sound like kitty soul mates, they are absolutely friends now. Thank you, MJ!!
Vera is in duelling club too! And she would love to practice with Phoenix!

Ahh, thank you Suzy!! The unfortunate thing is the little guy knows it
16. Cushions
I... could not think of anything fun to do for cushions, so I decided to just go basic drawing and play more with some of my favorite b r i g h t colors from my kids markers. It's nothing particularly special, but the green background makes me feel cheery.
So this was an idea that kind of flopped. I thought It would be fun to try to do a trick of the eye type of thing with the lock just baaaarely visible between two different shades of pink. And yet, as you can see... the two chosen colors were too different. But oh well, it still gives a fun colored box.

Aw, I really like your concept for Fidelius Charm! I wonder how those markers work with layering? You put down a light base layer and then put that same darker pink over the top of both the background and the keyhole again and maybe the effect you wanted will happen?
I love your 'mischief' doodle - the foot prints are so consistent and evenly spaced. It's really well done

So I did think about this! But unfortunately these aren't super great for layering ;__; At least, not as a combo with the basic printer paper I used. Anything more than two layers and the paper goes a shredding. I would have tried to play around with this more but I watched my son's page just... absolutely crumple. lol
Eee thank you! Not gonna lie, after like two footprints I was questioning if that's even what foot prints look like anymore

My fave? BLUE!!! And not just because it's my fave colour I really love how the birds are stuck between the clouds.
Eeee thank you!! It is... something so far. The boxes together where I used too much of the same color drive me MAD but I think for the most part I'll like the overall.
Blue is my favorite too I am actually pretty happy with how that one turned out! J was very excited about the little hammerhead sharks, those are our favorite xD
20. Avis
If there is anything this Seektober has made me doubt about myself.... it's that I'm not sure I know what birds look like anymore. Between a disastrous attempt in draw with mods and these little nuggets, I'm not feeling very confident about feathered friends. xD But... here they are!
I struggled with what to do for Confundo because I felt like my Avis prompt was... pretty much what I would have done for this too. So I got hung up for a bit, before my tiny Batman running around in his shirt made me think of the Riddler. So... voila! It's very simple, but I like the bright colors and this is my first moderately successful bat sign so I'm gonna call it a win.
