cookie How do you make a charrie stick?

So i've been thinking lately about one particular thing that seems to be prevalent in the RP; charries whose voices get 'lost' so that the RPer feels they have to abandon them or have them leave Hogwarts

I understand it happens, I think we have all lost muse at some point or another, but personally it makes me sad when my charrie loses friends or potential friends (or I ooc lose charries I love to stalk) due to this problem.

Which brings me to the purpose of this thread:
A) have you ever lost muse for a charrie? What did you do to try and get it back? What made you give up in the end and switch charries? What would you do differently next time and what did you learn from it? Do you ever feel guilty about abandoning ship so to speak?

B) what tips do you all have to avoid this in the first place? How do you establish a charrie? How do you make them fun to play? How do you stimulate your muse for a charrie?

Essentially, how do you make a charrie stick?

Oh, how we drift away from our friends. And the ones back home play remember when

When I can find time to RP I have to admit that I have lost inspiration at times. That has usually been due to personal issues. When I first joined SS, my muse was very significant and I found roleplay very easy. A few years later, I got diagnosed with neurological/mental issues so my brain lost part of its function. Depression hit me hard. I also found that on other sites where I would RP that nobody would reply and I would wait two months at least so that made me decide not to RP.

In terms of my character(s), I go with the thought of how would I react if I was in this situation as I find that makes me able to roleplay more. I also tend to use the personality of characters that my character's model played. So for my character of Samantha Montgomery, I incorporate a touch of Samantha or Serena from Bewitched.
