Xena knocked on the office door. She had gotten an owl off someone called Antigone. She presumed that she was the boss here. Her high heels clacked impatiently on the floor, as she waited to gain access.
Antigone was rubbing her temples when she heard a knock at her door. Her typically tidy desk had a few things strewn here and there and there were several broken quills laying beside the rubbish bin where she had missed it when throwing them.
Sighing she unholstered her wand, gave it a flick and vanished the things. "Come in, " she called.
Xena folded her arms. What was taking so long? It wasn't like Antigone wasn't expecting her. Then she heard the come in. Finally. She pushed the door open, her hair held back in a tight bun. "Xena. You must be Antigone." She would've held her hand out, but germs, and well the woman was a stranger.

Tiggy made no move to rise from her chair or greet the woman other than a slight tick of the head to indicate the chair opposite her desk. "Lovely to meet you. Welcom to the Department of Education. What can I help you with today? Got any questions at all for me?" she said in her business voice. She was really lacking sleep and proper nutrition lately... she needed to go to the apothecary soonish.
Xena nodded, and took the seat opposite. She made sure her skirt did not crease as she sat down. "Lovely to meet you too," she said, not even cracking a smile. "As you got from my owl, I wish to know of the pay scheme here." Well thats all that mattered to her right now. "Also who am I to report to? I do not take kindly to rude people." And she would not take it at all.

Antigone rubbed her temples once more and looked at the woman and smiled weakly as she grabbed one of her unbroken quills and scratched a figure on a piece of paper and slid it across the table. Pay schemes and rude people.
Raising a brow Antigone stated, "You are to report to Briony Whitehall once you enter the work areas. If at any point you encounter someone within my department that is rude please come report that to me right away. I have no patience for rudeness." *rub temples*
Sitting back in her chair she sighed a bit and asked, "Is there anything else that I can help you with? I think that you will be a great asset to the team up here."

Xena took the paper from the woman. She picked it up and glanced it over. Interesting. "Are there opportunities of a pay increase? I was paid slightly more in my previous position." She was still going to take the position, after all it was a job. And it involved kids. Slightly.
"Briony Whitehall," she nodded. Ah good there was no tolerance for rude people. She had spent enough time being threatened to be stabbed, to take that sort of crap. She looked up from the paper, and at Antigone.
"You have the most amazing eyes. Did you know that?" They were pretty amazing. She lifted a hand to her head, and removed the band securing her hair. Giving it a shake, her ginger locks fell to her shoulders. "That is all I believe, thank you Miss McArdle" She didn't stand up from her seat. She would wait to be dismissed.

Antigone smiled a bit more genuinely at the woman. She seemed a woman after ANtigone's heart... very determined and no nonsense. They would get on just fine. Yep yep yep. "There may very well be. I need to evaluate your performance and we can talk again after 90 days," she told her matter of factly.
Antigone blused slightly as she watched the woman let her hair down and it cascaded over her shoulders. "Why thank you. I think your hair is amazing. Mine hardly ever does what I want it to these days," she said with a sigh as she tried in vain to make hers stay in place again.
Antigone stood and smiled at the woman as she said that would be all. "Alright then. If there is ever anything that I can do for you feel free to drop by and ask me, okay. Can I show you to the work areas?" she said but stayed on her side of the desk. If the lady wanted an escort to the area she would oblige but otherwise she was going to wait until she left and possibly bang her head on the table.

Xena nodded. A raise sounded like something she could live with. 90 days wasn't too long. If she didn't like it, she could quit way before then anyway. "I look forward to having that discussion with you in time." Though she hoped they would talk before then.
She smiled, "It takes a while to get it looking like this. It rarely does what I actually want it to do. But when it does. It does it well." She loved her hair when it looked good. In the morning though, was another matter. It did not look good then.
An escort? Sounded like a plan. "I would love to be escorted to the work area, maybe you could introduce me to Briony. I do need to know who she is, after all." She stood up slowly from the chair. "Would you like to go for a drink some time? I don't really know anyone around here, it would be nice to have some company."

Xena smiled, and waited for the lady to leave before her. "Oh good. You should send me a memo when you are free. Since you have the harder job." She followed after Antigone. She hoped her cubicle was somewhat respectable. Unorganised was not good. Especially not in her own private space.

Ronan walked towards Antigone McArdle's office and knocked firmly on the door.
'This should be interesting.' he thought as he waited for some sort of response from indoors. The young man shoved his hands in his pockets and sighed hoping that he had made the right decision about changing departments.
'Least I'll be able to talk about work with Pandora now.' Ronan thought with a crooked grin.
Upon hearing a knock at her office door Antigone stopped scrubbing her desk by hand and straightened out her skirt before sitting down. "You may enter," she said as she flicked her wand at the door, sending it flying open. She had FINALLY got to getting things tidy again and was happy with the office's appearance. It seemed to almost sparkle. *happy!sigh*

Ronan was taken aback by the swinging open of the door. He cleared his throat before stepping into the incredibly clean office. He looked around in wonder and then to the woman behind the desk. "Uhm, hi there..Ant--Ms McArdle."
'Stick to formalities unless she says otherwise.' he thought to himself continuing to look at the young woman in a respective manner.
"I've come to report to work for you."

Ronan reached for the door handle and turned it open, stepping into the incredibly clean office. He looked around in wonder and then to the woman behind the desk. "Uhm, hi there..Ant--Ms McArdle."

Antigone was a bit surprised to see Ronan Cavanaugh in her office... Yeaaaaah. This was bound to be a bit awkward. "Hello Mr. Cavanaugh. Please, be seated," she said in her business tone.
"I have sorted you into the Inspections Committee. You will be working under Mr. Ryan Chambers. Is there any specific reason you came to be in Education?" she said, going headlong into the question-answer portion of things.

Ronan refrained from wincing from Antigone's tone as he walked towards her desk and sat down in front of her.
'Is there any specific reason you came to be in Education?'
"Well as an Unspeakable, it was really hard not being able to tell Pandora about my work and how exhausting it could be sometimes. And with the twins on the way, I think it would be really nice to be involved in the department that oversees everything that goes along with the education they will at Hogwarts when they are old enough." the young man explained as he smiled briefly to his new department head.
Antigone wanted to vomit at the mention of Pandora. She fought it back that and smiled tightly at the man that had lied to her and set a whole ordeal into motion. MEN! Grrrr.
"Well that sounds lovely, Mr. Cavanaugh. I think you will fit in nicely," she said and looked at some paperwork on her desk for a moment before continuing, "Now if there is anything I can help you with, let me know." She shuffled the papers around and looked back up at him.
"I am here to help should you need it. I have an open communication policy. Despite what you may hear down in the work areas, I am not a wicked witch out to kill you all," she giggled. "Now, I need to get back to work. You should go report to Mr. Chambers. THank you for coming to join us up here," she finished.

Ronan smiled warmly to Antigone who was being incredibly civil after their previous relations.
"Thank you Miss McArdle, I will keep that in mind. It's a pleasure that I am able to work under you." the young man said standing up and heading towards the door, set on going to the work areas and try to introduce himself to the other employees.
Once Chloe had composed herself, she stood up with her essay in her hand and walked to Antigone's office, knocking quietly on the door once she arrived. She didn't particularly want to talk to anyone, but she knew that she had to give Antigone her essay. Taking a few deep breaths, she stood outside the door waiting nervously.

Ronan walked towards Antigone's office the same determined look on his face as he held his essay in his hand.
He paused outside the door and knocked gently not wanting to storm in as that was unprofessional. The young man waited for a response so that he could deliver the parchment to his boss and perhaps explain how much he wanted to help out in his new position.
Antigone heard both knocks on her door and did not bother to wipe away her tears, She flicked her wand, opening the door and in a cracked voice said, "COme in."

Ronan stepped into the office and his heart sank as he saw that Antigone was apparently crying. He glanced over to Chloe for a brief moment before walking closer to the young woman's desk and placing the parchment on her desk.
SPOILER!!: "Ronan's response"
The reason that I chose to come work in the Department of Magical Education was solely based on what is going to in my near future. With the arrival of my twin children, I think it is important for me to be involved somehow in the behind the scenes of the education that they will receive when they come of the age to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. I know I enjoyed my time in school and I would like to guarantee that they do as well.
I thought that this would be an interesting field to go into because although I don’t think I would ever have the qualifications to become a professor at Hogwarts myself, being able to control who is there teaching the future minds of the Wizarding community is a prestigious and elite job and I take this opportunity very seriously. I feel comfortable working in this department and so far I have been welcomed graciously by my coworkers on a whole.
I decided to join the Department of Magical Education to further my own knowledge in various elements of the Wizarding world. In terms of the behind the scenes elements of magical education, I am a novice but I am willing to learn from everyone in the department and gain as much knowledge as I can in my time here. I am a hard worker and would like the chance to prove to everyone how hardworking and determined I can be.
The final reason that I decided to join the Department of Magical Education was because in the Department of Mysteries I was not able to talk about my work with my family and friends unless they were in the department. I did not like keeping secrets from those I love, especially my wife Pandora, and felt that it was putting too much of a strain on me.
I wish to remain in the department to prove to my fellow coworkers that I am a hard worker; able to keep the work place professional at all times, and uphold my responsibilities as a Ministry of Magic employee. I can guarantee that I will take my work in the Department of Education seriously and work to the level that my superiors ask of me.
Noticing the tension as soon as I walked into the work space I feel that I could act as a mediator when needed as well as report to you Miss McArdle as our Department Head if any sort of problem arises when you are out of the working area. One of the sole purposes of being your employee is to keep out of any sort of drama and do the work given to me without any complaints. I will also work to not talk constantly with my coworkers so that we can get our work done fast and efficiently.
Please understand that I do take my employment in this department seriously and would like to prove it in any way.
"Five hundred words just as you asked Ms McArdle." Ronan said with a gentle tone, shoving his hands into his pockets. "And you will find that I've alphabetized one of the cabinets as well. If you'd like me to do more of them, I will certainly get to work on that right now."
The young man clenched his jaw not able to contain the fact that he was watching his boss tear up. "Antigone." he said quietly looking to the young woman behind her desk. "Would you like me to fetch you some tea or a coffee? I think that it might help you to calm down a bit."
Chloe returned Ronan's look and followed him in the room. Antigone, apparently, had been crying just as Chloe had. She shut the door softly behind her and walked over to Antigone's desk. She placed her essay onto the desk and then took a few steps back.
SPOILER!!: Chloe's Essay
I spent years of my life after Hogwarts feeling like nothing more than a waste of space because I let man after man use me. I was too sweet and nice to tell guys no. I lacked self-respect, and left my heart so open that men would just interpret my outgoing and kind personality as a girl who was easy to get with. Which, of course, I was.
I realized that I had to change and have more respect for myself while I was living in New York. I was with a man named Christian, who I wholeheartedly believed loved me. And then he cheated on me with multiple people, but I never did anything about it. We moved in together, and he became abusive, verbally and physically.
My best friend from New York, Tim, found me sitting in Central Park one night alone, covered in bruises, clothes ripped, and crying. He tried to convince me to come home with him, but I wouldn't, and I wouldn't go to the hospital because I was a witch and knew nothing about Muggle medicine. Tim was a wizard, a muggle-born, but I had no idea at the time, just as he had no idea I was a witch. So, Tim sat with me in the park all night. In the morning, he took me to breakfast, and after explaining that he lived with his parents and two younger sisters, I agreed to go home with him.
After two nights with Tim and his family, Christian called begging me for forgiveness, I went back to him, and he promised it would never happen again. A week later, he left her so beat up and abused that I couldn't walk. Tim came to check on me and found me. He took me back to his house. I didn't leave the room for weeks. My older brother came and stayed with them, too, and between him and Tim, they kept Christian away until he lost interest.
Slowly, I recovered and began getting involved in Chelsea and Lauren's lives. They were both Muggles, though they knew I was witch, and both very interested in theater. I had been involved in the theater world since I was a young girl, and soon I began teaching workshops at their Muggle school about acting. I loved working with kids. Every smile on their faces healed my heart a little more, made me want to be a little stronger for them, made me respect myself a little more, and most of all, it made me want to protect any of them from ever being hurt the way I had been. I knew the only way to do that was to teach them to respect themselves as they had taught me to love and respect myself. Eventually, Tim's parents asked me if I would be an honorary goddaughter to Chelsea and Lauren. I accepted without hesitation. Those two girls had become my world.
I continued to teach workshops once a week for two years, focusing on building children’s confidence and providing them with a place they felt safe and giving them a positive role model, someone they knew they could always come to. Eventually, though, I knew I’d have to come back home to England, so I applied for a job in the ministry, not expecting to make it into the Education department on my first try, but to my surprise, I did. I abruptly had to pack up my things and move back here, and though I had to leave my kids, especially my goddaughters, behind, I was excited to be in a position to reach the hearts of even more children.
The reason I want to remain here has nothing to do with needing a job or an income. My fiancé has assured me many times that he is more than capable of providing for me. The reason I want to remain here is to help build children up to be strong, confident, motivated, respectful individuals who love themselves and love other people around them. I want to protect those kids and make sure that nothing bad happens to them. I want to make sure that when they are out of school and off on their own, that they are capable of making good, healthy decisions for themselves. I want to make a difference. I want to change the world. I want to make those kids feel as astonishing as my students made me feel, and they cannot feel that without having adults watching out for the best interests and ensuring that they have a safe, loving, and productive environment in which to live and learn and grow.
When Ronan spoke, Chloe just stood by and nodded in agreement. "I made it through several sets of cabinets as well," she said quietly. And then they were addressing the fact that Antigone was crying, and Chloe had to bite her tongue as she started to tear up as well. She did not like seeing her friend so obviously upset. "Yes, do you need anything? I'll get whatever you want or need," Chloe said with a pleading look in her eyes. She just wanted to make things better.

It broke Chloe's heart to see the tears in Antigone's eyes, especially when she knew she had caused them. "I assure you, it won't happen again. I will never be a source of disrespect or bickering in this department again," she said with a genuinely fervent expression on her face. She meant that. It would never happen again. She would never make Antigone cry ever, ever again. This was quite possibly the worst feeling in the entire world.

Antigone opened the mini fridge beneath her desk and grabbed a bottle of water. With shakey hands she opened it and took several large gulps. When she took the bottle from her lips a sob escaped. More tears dropped her eyes and she looked at Chloe and Ronan and said, "Thank you two for caring enough to see about me. I am sorry if I seem too hard on you sometimes... I just think that the work area is for work. I don't mind introductions or talking with one another about ideas for the Department or tasks, but just chattering is unacceptable. That is why we have such lovely things set up in the corridors for. Have a talk out there, go to a breakroom. The work area is for work though." She then conjured a pink hanky and dabbed at her eyes.
