"No, I guess that's just an Accidents and Catastrophes sort of thing," she said, laughing a little. "We do deal with other random things, such as...foreign ministers popping up in fireplaces for little chats every now and then." Of course, those kind of random appearances really only happened in the Minister's actual office, but Allie had always been nearby when most of them had happened.
Allie started to say something else about all the random happenings around the office, but then Wes blushed, and she forgot all about what she was going to say. "You're blushing...what for?" she commented. There were many reasons a person might blush, but none of them really applied to the conversation she and Wes were currently having. He didn't really seem like one of those guys that grew shy over just any little thing, so...it must have been something else. "You don't seem like the shy type at all." Wes chuckled. "Yeah, I figured. I like it down here...you have the aquariums outside!" he said with a grin. He loved to fish watch! Too bad he himself couldn't keep a beta fish alive for more than 24 hours. Although Minister's popping in and out via floo was...a little unsettling. He could just imagine himself sitting at his desk when POP someone apparated in or just waltzed out of Taylor's office after arriving by Floo and scaring him so badly he dropped his coffee on his lap...ah well. He'd get used to it!
Uh oh. CAUGHT. GASP! He'd never been CAUGHT blushing before! At least, no one had ever come out and pointed out to him that he was blushing before. How embarassing! He KNEW he was going to make a fool of himself in this job! "Oh, me? Blushing? Haha that's...that's nothing, just nerves from the first day I guess. I never thought I'd be Junior Undersecretary in a million years!" he said, coming up with a quick fib on the spot to explain his beet red cheeks.

When Wes commented on the aquariums lining the first level corridor, Allie beamed in return. She'd suggested installing the aquariums, so of course she loved the fact that they were here, too! "Oh, I had those put in. I'm glad you like them! I thought they'd give they place some character and give us something interesting to tend to," she replied. Of course, Allie stayed so busy that she never really got a chance to actually visit the fish tanks. Thank Merlin the Ministry was full of employees that didn't mind helpful out. She imagined they enjoyed tending to the fish, too.
Wes? First day jitters? Somehow, Allie found that hard to believe. She'd always seen Wes as this really strong man that let absolutely nothing get to him. If he was nervous, then she'd completely had the wrong idea about him. "Oh, well, you'll get used to the new position, and I'm positive you'll do just fine," she commented, although she still wasn't sold on the whole nervousness excuse. "So, lunchtime is coming up. Do you want to go to the cafe with me? They serve really good lunches."

"They're nice and...tranquil," Wes said with a smile. It was always relaxing watching fish swim around. It was the perfect thing to do after a catastrophe down on Level 3. It took his mind off of things.
Wes looked at Allie's face and tried to read her expression, wondering if maybe he should keep going on about his jitters to make it more...believeable. OR it could do just the opposite and make his story UNbelieveable. Hmmm. Such a dilemna. He couldn't make up his mind so he finally just decided to keep his mouth shut about that. Moving on. New topic. "Glad you have faith in me," he told her with a grin. "Really? I've never been there even though it's been there for years...do they have grilled cheese?" he asked. Grilled cheese was SO GOOD.

Grilled cheese was SO GOOD. Allie nodded in reply to the conversation about fish. She said nothing, though, as she crossed the room to retrieve her handbag. She noted Wes' short silence and wondered, for just a moment, what he was thinking. It must have been something about all the faith Allie had in him, because a second later, he made some comment about being glad she had faith in him. "Mmhmm," she mumbled, half-focused on her purse, as she dug through it in search of her office keys. "Grilled cheese? Yup, they sure do. Come on, slow poke," she joked, giving Wes a playful look as she swung her purse over her shoulder and headed for the door. She tossed her keys across the room and toward Wes, hoping he at least knew how to catch. She had a feeling he did, though. "Lock up. I'll meet you in the corridor." Without another word, she gently pushed open the door and left out the office.
