"'Dear Claudian, yo' momma so muggle, she needs a roll of scotch tape to perform a sticking charm. Sincerely, Minister Taylor.'" He mock-read out calmly, his eyes following in a line-by-line pattern. "Oh....Ohhhhh!" He said a bit over-dramatically feigning insult.

"Alright, I best go and get the details from her. Thank you, Allie! And it's good to have you back again." He said excusing himself from her office.

....what? Allie hadn't written that! For a few seconds, she sort of blushed, thinking maybe someones papers had gotten mixed in with hers, and...

...oh, good. Claudian was only joking. Right---she knew that. "Claudian..., that's hilarious," she said with a laugh. With him around, Allie knew there would never be a dull moment here on level one. She nodded when he mentioned going to talk to Minister Taylor. "Mmkay, Claudian. See ya," she said.

Allie laughed lightheartedly. "Well, you succeeded! The day's brighter already," she said. "For one of us, at least." Chad had yet to actually see Reagan, but Allie imagined the Minister would be happy to see him.

She thought about telling Chad that his girlfriend had requested house elves and deep tissue massages earlier, but then again, the Minister had requested that Allie or Claudian schedule all that for her. "I'm glad you stopped by, Chad. Not for any particular reason, but you're right. We're long overdue for a little chat," she said.

She grew sort of quiet when Chad asked how Allie and Reagan were getting along. She considered telling him about how she'd felt during her talk with the Minister a little earlier, but she decided to just keep quiet about that. Besides, Allie thought she may have just taken it the wrong way and for the most part, she and the Minister were getting along well. So instead, she just smiled and said, "Oh, it's great. I'm really enjoying my new job."

Chad raised an eyebrow at the slight delay in Carley's answer. He didn't entirely believe her answer, but he didn't want to pry. If she wanted to say, she would say. "You look like you need a dance. Would you like to dance? Just a little one," he gestured with his fingers. "I'm feeling rather spontaneous. Let's dance." He grinned and held out his hands.

Hmm...so Chad was serious when he'd asked her to dance. He even had his hands outstretched, ready to accept hers and begin...whatever type of dance they were going to do.

What was it with dancing lately anyway? Even Lexi had been going on and on about some Alumni Ball taking place at Hogwarts. Speaking of which, Allie still hadn't made up her mind whether or not she'd actually be going to that ball...

Smiling, Allie extended a hand and closed it around one of Chad's. "After you," she said, letting Chad know she was going to let him lead.

Giggling a little as she and Chad danced around the room, Allie just muttered a "Hmm..." while she thought about the answer to Chad's question. What had she been up to lately. "Well, Lex keeps going on and on about some Alumni Ball she wants me to come to. A ball at Hogwarts, I mean. I don't think I can go, though," she said, frowning just a little as she said that. "I have a meeting that afternoon and one early the next morning. I don't think I'll make it back in time."

She perked up and added, "Lex and I are planning a get together soon, though. I'm excited to see her," she added. "...and what about you? What have you been up to?"

Chad gave a small pout when Carley said that she didn't think she would be able to go to the Ball at the wizarding school. "Aww, that is a shame. You would definitely make a good dancing partner. You should try to go, though," he nodded. "I know that I cannot attend. The French Ministry has requested my assistance in locating a loose werewolf in Marseilles. Locating and then capturing." Fun.

"Me," he questioned, grinning a little. "I have been on my floor doing my boss thing. And dancing with you, of course."

Hmm...Chad thought she'd make a good dancing partner? That thought made her smile...and a little sad at the same time. She hated the fact that she couldn't go to the ball, as it would not only be really exciting to attend, but she'd also get to spend some time with Lexi. "Well, thank you, Chad. I wish I could go, but...such is the life of a Senior Undersecretary," she said, shrugging her shoulders.

"Loose werewolf in Marseilles---that doesn't sound good," she commented. Hearing of assignments like that sort of made Allie wish she did more field work and less paperwork and organization-type work, but she still loved her job all the same.

Chad twirled her around and continued to dance. "No, it does not sound good," he agreed, "but the quicker we capture him, the better. Let the people of Marseilles get back to living their normal lives. And, maybe after, I can go visit my parents for a couple day," he smiled and shrugged. "Maybe not, we'll see."

Allie smiled as Chad twirled her around. When she came back around to where she was facing him again, she released his hands and stepped back. "Well, that was fun! Thanks for the dance, Chad," she said with a smile. She picked up a few folders on her desk then grabbed her handbag. "I'm meant to be at a meeting soon, so I need to get going. Feel free to take a seat and wait on Minister Taylor, if you'd like," she said, nodding towards several of the empty chairs. "I'll see ya around." With a little wave, she opened the door to her office and headed out.

Wes was pretty sure he was in the right place, but he could be wrong. These past few days had made his head spin a bit, so he would not be surprised if he had accidentally wandered into Transportation or something. But it looked like it was the right place...sure enough, he spotted a plague not too far away with Allie's name on it, and his name had been added as well. It looked so pretty!

Wandered over to what he assumed was his desk, he dropped it nonchalantly on the wooden surface and started to unpack his photos and quills and other random junk while he waited for Allie. EEEE they were office buddies now! Sam was going to be SO JEALOUS!

She made a grab for her keys but stopped when she noticed that the door was slightly ajar. Funny. She didn't remember leaving it unlocked when she'd left sometime earlier. She was so focused on the unlocked door that she failed to noticed the new addition to the plaque hanging right before her eyes. She gently pushed the door open a little and headed inside..

Wes' excitement at working with Allie immediately flew out the window and now he felt HURT. She hated him! That was what this was about! He was ok to talk to every once in a while, but working with him must be one of her worst fears ever!

BUT in typical Kutcher fashion he was NOT going down without a fight!

"Look, Allie, I know it may not be the most...ideal situation for you, but I'm fun to work with! I promise!" he assured her with a pleading look. Could she fire him? Could she fire him for simply not liking him? He didn't want to risk it! "We can work together as a team and it'll be great! We'll be the best Undersecretaries Taylor ever had!"

She took a few deep breaths then, like the mature woman that she was...or hoped she was...she headed over to his desk to explain what had happened last week. "There's something I need to tell you. Last week, I...sort of went through this stage where I didn't think being Senior Undersecretary was for me. I had a talk with the Minister, and I actually resigned..."

She paused for a minute to take another deep breath then pulled up a chair next to Wes. "So the Minister actually transferred me to a department---Law Enforcement, to be exact. Before I could even report to work there, though, I had a change of heart and realized that I was making the wrong decision," she admitted. Merlin, this was difficult to talk about. "So the Minister and I had another talk, and I returned to my position."

"When I saw you unpacking, I just assumed she'd already hired you to replace me. Did she?" she asked, her voice a little small and unsure on that last note. "If she did, then I'm really happy for you. I'll be sad to leave my position again, but...wait. Did you say Undersecretaries? You mean...you and I? We're both? I get to keep my job?" With a sudden bright smile on her face, Allie leaned over and gave Wes one of the biggest hugs she'd ever given anyone. They were going to be working together!

Wes blinked. Ok, now he was BEYOND confused. So she didn't HATE him? Well, maybe she did if she thought she had been replaced by him...he didn't replace her! Or...did he? No, no, the Minister had SPECIFICALLY said JUNIOR undersecretary. She was Senior. She wasn't going anywhere as far as he knew.

"I haven't replaced you! I'm working WITH you...I replaced that other guy, I think. What was his name? Claudian something," he said. He'd met the guy once or twice and seemed like a pleasant fellow. Shame he wasn't here anymore. He was stuck in an office full of GIRLS. Not that he was complaining TOO much but...still.

He listened to her explain exactly WHY she was worried he had been replaced, and it started to make more sense. Now he could see why she was so distraught! "Oh, I'm sorry...I had no idea you were...in between jobs," he said. It was true, when was the last time they'd gotten a chance to talk to each other?! He had no idea what was going on with her life. "That's CRAZY, after I stepped down I was thinking of Law Enforcement as well!" Hey, they had something in common! "I changed my mind though, and I'm glad I accepted this new position, it's nice and cozy down here," he said with a smile. And it didn't smell of burnt wallpaper either.

Wes chuckled now at Allie's excitement over not being replaced. "Yes, Undersecretaries, PLURAL. I'm Junior Undersecretary...I work for you now! Not that I didn't always, kind of but...oh, you know what I mean," he said with a grin.

Then, he grinned even wider as she came over and hugged him. EEEE ALLIE WAS HUGGING HIM! Hehe. This day was so awesome. "We're office buddies!" he exclaimed in excitement. WOOT WOOT!

"I changed my mind though, and I'm glad I accepted this new position, it's nice and cozy down here," he said with a smile. And it didn't smell of burnt wallpaper either.

Wes chuckled now at Allie's excitement over not being replaced. "Yes, Undersecretaries, PLURAL. I'm Junior Undersecretary...I work for you now! Not that I didn't always, kind of but...oh, you know what I mean," he said with a grin.

Then, he grinned even wider as she came over and hugged him. EEEE ALLIE WAS HUGGING HIM! Hehe. This day was so awesome. "We're office buddies!" he exclaimed in excitement. WOOT WOOT!

Claudian. Wes replaced Claudian...not her. Suddenly feeling as if the biggest weight had been taken off her shoulders, Lexi realized that she hadn't exactly congratulated Wes or welcomed him to the team. She also felt a little guilty for her first reaction. He must have thought she hated him, which was of course not true.

"Claudian Slughorn," she finally said. "I've been so focused on possibly switching positions that I didn't realize he'd left us. I'll have to pay him a visit. You, though---you've joined us! Congratulations, Wes! I'm really happy for you and excited that you'll be working here on level one now. It's going to be nice to have an office mate, too---Claudian actually didn't have an office. I think he liked it that way, though."

"You were going to transfer to Law Enforcement, too?" she asked. Wow. She didn't even realize he's stepped down from his department head position. Another fact she'd missed with all her focus being on switching her own job. She'd just assumed Wes has moved straight from level three to level one. "Funny how that worked out, huh? It's almost like we were destined to work together."

"Junior Undersecretary---awesome," she said, lightening up just a little bit. "Oh, you work for me, huh? Oh now this I could get used to. I'd like my apartment cleaned from top to bottom..." She just laughed to show that she was clearly joking. "We work for the Minister," she said. "Wow. It's going to be awesome having someone in here with me all the time. It usually gets pretty lonely in here all by myself."

"Thanks," Wes said with a grin. "I'm excited...it's nice down here! I'm guessing the windows don't spontaneously start flooding down here," he joked with a small chuckle. While he missed all the people on the level, he certainly didn't miss all the...life threatening situations they seemed to get themselves into. He'd have to go back and visit just to make sure everyone wasn't injured!

And he'd need to make sure Gavin and Dan hadn't killed each other. Now that Wes was out of there the poor fellow seemed the most likely replacement for Dan's bickering.

As soon as Allie said they were DESTINED to work together, Wes got a bit of a goopy grin on his face and he chuckled. "Hehehe, well, yeah, guess so!" he said in agreement as he blushed. He composed himself a minute later, however, chuckling and clearing his throat. Oh man. If he were a comic he'd have those giant hearts for eyes right now. If he was going to work with her, he couldn't get all...gooey around her!

"We're going to have fun," he assured her with a smile. "I'm really looking forward to this, we'll be the best Undersecretaries Minister Taylor has ever had!" he exclaimed.

Glancing over toward the enchanted windows that decorated the office, Allie shook her head. As far as she knew, the windows had never randomly flooded the office, and she sincerely hoped they didn't start anytime soon. "No, I guess that's just an Accidents and Catastrophes sort of thing," she said, laughing a little. "We do deal with other random things, such as...foreign ministers popping up in fireplaces for little chats every now and then." Of course, those kind of random appearances really only happened in the Minister's actual office, but Allie had always been nearby when most of them had happened.

Allie started to say something else about all the random happenings around the office, but then Wes blushed, and she forgot all about what she was going to say. "You're blushing...what for?" she commented. There were many reasons a person might blush, but none of them really applied to the conversation she and Wes were currently having. He didn't really seem like one of those guys that grew shy over just any little thing, so...it must have been something else. "You don't seem like the shy type at all."
