Bambi stared at the girl in front of her. Well she's certainly... eccentric She thought to herself before forcing a smile. She had said that she liked Time Magazine after all and she had never met another witch or wizard who read it, besides it was about time to make friends within the ministry. "I work down in the Death Chamber, but I'm pretty new." She replied to... had she said her name was Ariadne?'s first question. Then heading to her next question. "Not much in here today, some interesting stuff about a new computer, but of course that doesn't matter much to us. I lived in the muggle world for a while so I have a bit more interest than most witches would." She paused. "But you seem like you would too. What department did you say you worked in... the muggle worthy excuse committe? That sounds interesting, what do you guys do?" Bambi had seriously considered applying for a job related to muggles when she had entered the ministry but had decided that working too closely with them might be too painful given the experience that had driven her back to the magical world. She felt a wave of sadness course through her at the memory but quickly pulled herself together, smiling expectantly at the girl.

"Wow.... death chamber! That sounds soooooo interesting! But you can't pick your division, no? But I'm happy I got in anyways!" Ariadne exclaimed. Yep, she was super optimistic today, though it seemed to be scaring the girl so she'd probably best calm down.
"Oh yes, I know a lot about muggles. I have an adopted muggle sister, Anna, if you read my file in the filing cabinet? Ahhh.... yes!" Ariadne still didn't pause.
"I seriously don't know much about my department, see. I'm a newbie too. I've been here for about 3 days tops..." she sighed. This was the only time almost anyone had seen Ariadne... not jumpy.
But she was persistent. "So whatcha do in your in your division?"

"What we do down there is supposed to be top secret." Bambi said, giving the girl an apologetic look. "So I'm really not allowed to tell anyone, especially right in the middle of the work area." She laughed. "But seriously we're not allowed to anywhere." She grimaced. "I wish I could talk about it sometimes but then... I suppose there are reasons why it's kept a secret." She grinned at the girl slyly. "So anyways you're a newbie too? Isn't it strange to be working at the ministry? I quite like it though, keeps me busy."

"Secretive, secretive!" Ariadne laughed. "I can see, though, your division has some things kept..." she paused here, (for dramatic effect I suppose?) "quiet... then let's continue on with our discussion!" She smiled at Bambi. "I hope you don't mind, but I am quite hungry, only an Italian Biscotti for breakfast, and I do fancy another coffee, maybe some butterbeer, another donut, and a creme roll? Can I get you anything, Bambi?" She positively beamed at the girl. Sometimes she went a little overboard with her optimism (bwahahahahaha)

Bambi couldn't help but gawp at Ariadne for a second. She didn't think she had met anyone this enthusiastic in a long time. "Oh no I'm fine." She said, thinking that she'd rather like a coffee but she didn't want to ask Ariadne to get it for her or insist on getting it herself. She thought both options seemed somewhat rude. She smiled back at Ariadne, feeling that even if she was a bit too errrrr... ecstatic she was at least quite nice.

Ariadne went to go get her food, thinking that she did like Bambi very much, oh very much indeed, even if she was a little down. But, no wories, Ari would cheer her up, cheer her just like everyone else! Yes, Ari was a happy person, and what no reason to be happy? I mean, you are alive? And you have enough time to be thinking this so why not go overboard? Even though Bambi said she wouldn't like anything, she had finished her coffeee, so she brought her another one, along with a Biscotti for Bambi in case.
"So," Ariadne said, continuing her conversation with Bambi, "What is your very favorite part about the ministry so far?"

"It's very interesting." Bambi replied thoughtfully. "I mean with all the different types of wizards and witches here. I mainly hung out with a group of very similar people at Hogwarts so I guess I never really expanded my horizons. Everyone's been really nice though." She forced another smile. "Thanks for these by the way." She said, indicating the coffee and biscotti. Ariadne was sweet, and well to be honest had never really been around too many truly kind people in the last couple years, but she certainly wasn't going to tell Ariadne that, she was practically a perfect stranger after all and besides Bambi trusted virtually no one. "Well what about you?" She asked. "You said you were new, are you straight out of Hogwarts or have you been doing other things for a while?" Bambi thought that she could probably guess, Ariadne looked young, and her demeanor was of someone who had not experienced too many pains in life. Most likely she was fresh out of school.

"Well, I've just came out of school..." Ariadne paused and a far away look came into her eyes... "Oh, but in year 7, bad things happened in my family, very bad things indeed.... it was very hard for me to find a job after that....." Ariadne stopped and sipped her coffee slowly. She just mainly wanted to listen to Bambi right now, not talk herself out as usual.

"Ah." Bambi said simply, deciding not to question Ariadne about her family. She knew what it was like to have a painful experience and not want to talk about it. "So what house were you in at Hogwarts? I was a Slytherin myself." She laughed. "I miss it quite a lot. I'm 23 so I haven't been to school in what... six years? The ministry is pretty good though."

"Wow, 23? I'm only 18!" Ariadne laughed. She was quite happy that the girl didn't question her about her past, and she seemed to understand how it felt so Ariadne could only return the favor.
"I haven't been to school in one year! But I do have a lot of friends, here at the ministry. Do you know Jennifer Arcwright, the head of Magical Creatures? Or Emerald Skye, she works in the same department. Marie Bonnie Potter? She's in Magical Games and Sports. And then I also know Alex Napoleone, from my department, and I've only been here 2 days!" Ariadne giggled. "Do you know many people?"

Bambi shook her head. "I actually don't know anyone outside of my department. I didn't know anyone coming in see and I haven't been here for long." She shrugged. "I don't mind though. I prefer to be alone." Then she added hastily, "Not that I mind your company." She smiled. "It's nice in here, good place to meet people, even if you weren't looking to." Bambi never looked to make friends, last time she had done that well... it had been a mistake, but she definitely didn't mind people coming up to her, especially friendly people who didn't ask too many questions.

"Aaaahhh... yes.." said Ari. She hoped Bambi couldn't hear the sadness in her voice. "I'm three days here, and as much as I like to take part in things, people barely reply when I talk to them and I'm left out of almost everything."
Ariadne hastily changed the subject; to......? "Sooooo....."

"So what's your Quidditch team?" Bambi said hastily. She could sense that Ari wasn't comfortable with the subject that they were and there had been a moment of pure awkwardness, and Bambi had trouble with those moments. "I like the Tornadoes myself, been a fan since I was born. I guess it's built into me as my father was a Tornado fan. My mother was never one for sports though." She shrugged. "So how about you?"

Ariadne was very happy with the new subject of quidditch,
"Oh yes, the Tutshill Tornadoes are nice," she said. "But I do prefer Appleby Arrows, or the Holyhead Harpies. My least favorites are probably Chudley Cannons, and the Wigtown Wanderers. I also like Montrose Magpies, and Wimbourne Wasps. Do prefer Puddlemere United or Pride of Portree? And the Kenmare Kestrels, do you mind them, or the Ballycastle Bats? Have you heard of the Falmouth Falcons? I've heard they play average, but never seen them. And please, please, tell me you don't like the Caerphilly Catapults?" She blabbered very fast, wondering if Bambi could take in all she was saying.

"The Appleby Arrows really?" Bambi said, with a small joking smirk on her face. She crinkled her nose. "Ew. But I'll give you a break since you like the Hollyhead Harpies, they're really good." She shrugged. "I'm pretty indifferent to the others, but the Caerphilly Catapults are probably my least favorite team." She laughed. "I can't stand their keeper." She laughed. "Did you play Quidditch at all at school?" She asked.

"Oh, yes, I played Chaser two years, Seeker another. You, Bambi (or Ainra?)?"
Ariadne said quickly, taking a bite of creme roll and sipping her coffee.

"I was a beater from my third year on." Bambi said, allowing herself a moment to reminisce. "I was captain in seventh year actually." Bambi smiled, she had always loved Quidditch. She took another sip of her coffee. "I would play pro if I was good enough." She laughed.

"Me too," laughed Ari. She really liked Bambi, she was very easy to talk to and provided most of conversation when needed, also letting Ariadne talk too.
"So.... if you could have picked any department in the Ministry, which would you like to work in?"

"Magical Law Enforcement probably." Bambi said. "I think it'd be very interesting." There was another reason she wanted to work there but that was a... sensitive topic. "Plus I was always tough as a kid so I think I'd be good at it." She paused. "What about you? Do you like working with muggles or would you rather be somewhere else."

OC: My Hogwarts character's name is Ainra, so I get them mixed up sometimes, sorry about that.

"Well," Ariadne paused to think. "I'd want to work in the Department of Mysteries as an Unspeakable, Magical Law Enforcement, or Accidents and Catastrophes, where I am now, but I'm just happy I got in. I sometimes do a part-time muggle job, but I quit to do this one. You?"

Out of Character: That's fine

"Um yeah I used to do... muggle jobs." Bambi quickly looked away, her voice fading at the end of her reply, and her smile slipping away like quicksand. There was no way to describe the pain that thinking about the time in the muggle world caused her. She turned back to Ariadne, putting on a happy face, but she could tell it looked fake. "So do you like your job?" She asked Ariadne, trying to change the subject quickly.

Ariadne turned away as she could tell Bambi was reliving the horrors of her past. Funny Ari should know exactly what she was thinking as she had read her file.... Ariadne quickly change the subject.
"Yes, I like my job. It is quite interesting. I had many muggle jobs, one was a chauffeur. You know, driving limousines, and cars for muggles who didn't thtink they were capable of it. It was quite boring actually. But the other ones were a lot more interesting..." but Ari didn't continue, not wanting to bore Bambi with her tales.

"Oh you were a chauffeur?" Ainra said, her temporary emotional breakdown gone. "I drove a taxi cab! Did you get any crazy people? I always had somebody who I could tell my friends about. There were some great stories from that job!"

"Yeah, I got some really odd people." Ariadne laughed. "Well, I've got to run! Nice to see you Bambi!"
