After climbing nearly 6,000 metres, you finally arrive at the base camp where you are greeted by a humble site of small campfires and tents in every color imaginable. To your right is a small corral where a small herd of yaks stand grazing on bits of hay and apples provided by those who run the base camp. They are the ones who have helped carry all your belongings up the mountain and would love to receive a little pat on the nose in appreciation for their efforts. While you might be rearing to continue your climb, your guide instructs you to take it easy for a day for acclimatization and pick a tent. They may appear small on the outside, but once you step inside you are greeted with a fully furnished room complete with working fireplace, kitchenette, and comfortable beds for you to sleep on.
