Default Ian Hart's BBC drama 'The Driver' coming to U.S. Acorn TV this April

Following the U.S. Premieres of the final season of Foyle's War, the epic period drama New Worlds starring Jamie Dornan (Fifty Shades of Grey), BBC's Jamaica Inn starring Jessica Brown Findlay (Downton Abbey), and addictive Aussie period drama A Place to Call Home, Acorn TV will feature the US Premiere of the BBC thriller The Driver on consecutive Mondays, beginning April 13, 2015 on Acorn TV, the premier British TV streaming service in North Americafrom RLJ Entertainment (Nasdaq:RLJE). David Morrissey (The Governor on The Walking Dead, State of Play) stars in this action-packed, character-driven British miniseries, which Showtime is currently remaking into a drama series, adapted by Justified executive producer Taylor Elmore and also starring Morrissey.

In the British miniseries, David Morrissey stars as Vince McKee, a middle-aged nobody who accepts an offer to drive a taxi for a criminal gang in order to escape his turbulent home life. Created by BAFTA and International Emmy winning English screenwriter Danny Brocklehurst (Accused, Shameless) and Jim Poyser, the three-episode series also stars Ian Hart (The Bridge, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone) as McKee's fresh-out-of-prison friend, Colin; Claudine Blakley (Pride & Prejudice) as McKee's wife; and Colm Meaney (Hell on Wheels, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) as the ruthless gangster boss, the Horse.

RLJ Entertainment's Acorn brand will also release the miniseries on DVD in June 2015. Distributed by Content Media, The Driver broadcast in the U.K. in Sept. 2014.

Acorn TV currently features the US Premieres of the final season of the beloved mystery series Foyle's War starring Michael Kitchen; the 1680s set British period drama New Worlds starring Jamie Dornan (Fifty Shades of Grey) and Joe Dempsie (Games of Thrones); and new BBC period drama Jamaica Inn starring Jessica Brown Findlay (Downton Abbey). Throughout April, Acorn TV also premieres Season 2 of must-see Aussie period drama A Place to Call Home.
