Why did you join Snitchseeker?

Waaaaay back in 2011, I joined Snitchseeker because of the hype with Pottermore. Back then, I was looking for another Potter site as an outlet cos Pottermore only had the first book interactive experience available and I finished that one in a day :lol: And now I'm here! |
*eyes Kimmy's post and giggles* Waaaayyyy back in 2003 the movies and films were still being released and this was the place to be for all of the news updates. The Knockturn Alley forum and Fanfiction Forum were reasons 2 and 3 - then it just .... evolved. |
I joined when I was 13 back in 2011! Initially, I was just interested in diving deeper in the world of Harry Potter and finding people who loved it as much as I did. It was before the final Deathy Hallows film came out and I remember the hype surrounding that! In the end, though, it was the RPG that got me hooked, as well as the lovely community of HP fans I have met onsite. :loved: |
I joined way back 2011, on my mother's birthday actually. I remember it was near the end of the day and I had just finished reading the only HP books I had that time (I think only four, so until GoF). So I chanced the internet for some fanfiction and it brought me here. Coincidentally, the sorting happened a few days after I think so I jumped into the RPG (it was my first time) and it turned out to be a really fun and exciting experience. I also made some very smart and creative friends out of the members so since then SS has always held a special place in my heart even if I have a tendency to disappear from time to time. Lol. |
I just joined, and to be honest it is the first time I've heard about the website. I was feeling nostalgic regarding to the old foruns in warner bros website, and wanted to relive those feelings I had back in 2005, 2006 :) |
I joined because I was looking for a site where I could discuss all things Potter with people who are also hooked on the Potterverse. I also wanted to catch up on news about my favorite actors/actresses as well. :) |
I joined while making an OC for another site...then saw all of the content. THEN saw that there's an RPG community here as well. That sold it for me. But now that I'm here, I'm seeing so much more! <3 |
I used to be big on messages boards years ago met fantastic people. Even had a a couple of boards over the years. I thought I would get back into the boards and I have never been on a hp board before. This board has it all and I can’t wait to get to know everyone. |

One of my best friends showed me SnitchSeeker back in 2010. I thought it was so cool, and I loved the Hogwarts RPG! I also thought it was so neat to have such a friendly community of HP fans. I forgot about the forum until just recently, so I decided to join in on the fun! As a writer, I'm really looking forward to joining in the different RPGs here. I'm also stoked to meet some new Harry Potter loving friends! |
I'm missing a forum I used to be a part of. :( I don't know what happened to it, I took a 2.5 year hiatus from it due to having my daughter and wanted to get back on only to find that it's not there anymore!! Anyways, hoping I'll have the same experience here and looking forward to meeting people... and that's why I joined SnitchSeeker. :) |

I originally signed up in 2011 as it says. I had found another site that offered RP opportunities and I had never even realized that it existed! After a fairly extensive search, I came across SS and fell in love with the detail and the amount of people involved in the RPG. I liked that it was a big all-inclusive story, and as I got more comfortable, noticing all of the wonderful mods here. BELIEVE me, not all HP sites have such genuine admins/mods! I ended up taking a hiatus due to RL, but gladly returned in 2017 for the same reasons. ((Thank you all for making SS what it is!)) |

I vaguely remember stumbling upon SnitchSeeker YEARSSSSSS ago, probably around the time when the earlier movies in the series were coming out. I came for the news on the movies and the high quality movie stills. :x3: But recently I've been really missing the HP forum life. I was heavily involved in FictionAlley Park back in its heyday (oldbie SOFAA member right here!!) and loved getting to talk to other Potterheads who were as wrapped up in the fandom as I was. The fandom is still alive and kicking now with the FA movie series, along with all of the Pottermore extras and random tidbits of info JKR has released over the years, and honestly, I'm having some serious nostalgia. I want to connect with Potter fans again, so here I am! |

I have not been in a forum setting in a very long time. I used to run 3 HP forums, and I kind of miss it, I'll admit. I think the main reason I joined Snitchseeker, though, is because I have realized I don't have enough Potterheads in my life. I do enjoy discussing the wizarding world a great deal, and finding like minded folks that love the wizarding world as much as I do is something of a godsend these days. |
I used to be a big RPer on the WB Harry Potter message boards. We're talking like, early 2000s; I hit my peak my senior year of high school, 2006. I really poured my heart and soul into it, and met many amazing people. My experiences on the WB boards really got me through some tough, dark times in my teenage years. Those boards inspired my love of writing. So much so that I went on to get a degree in creative writing. Over time, I slowly lost touch with many of the people I RPed with. Some of us continued playing on our own boards, and some of stayed connected through email. Tried as we might, we were never really able to rekindle the magic we'd all felt on those original boards. Every 6 months or so, I do a deep Google dive trying to find a board that may fulfill that sense of community. SnitchSeeker came up as a top hit on Google, so I've decided to give it a go! I'm much older now than I was back then, but I've still got a lot of whimsy left in me! |

In general, I've been keeping an eye out for HP forums like this, because I really wanted to re-engage with the fanfiction and roleplay communities for the fandom! The site's different boards all really appeal to me, which is what caught my eye in the first place! Why did I choose Snitchseeker specifically? To put it simply ... their open support of BLM and the LGBTQ+ community assured me that the site mods were the right kind of people to be running something like this, and I didn't have to worry about getting involved in a nice-seeming community only to find out they all support transphobia or other such nonsense. It seems friendly, and it seems safe, and those are all things I think we could all use a little more of these days! |

I was really involved in the Harry Potter community when I was younger. I remember playing on the Warner Brothers website, planting/killing mandrakes, and getting sorted into a house (with a sorting hat quiz that literally included the favorite color question). Eventually, I branched out to generally Harry Potter forums as well as RPGs. Back then, I really enjoyed RPGs that were set during the Marauder's Era. I thought that time period gave the greatest creative freedoms. If I'm being honest, I think I joined SS now because quarantine inspired me to return to something that was comforting/familiar. I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone, and joining what seems to be a lovely community! |
