| | Which Harry Potter book is your favorite? And why? Which is your favorite Harry Potter book?
And why?
The original seven works of J.K. Rowling captivated the hearts of young and old alike, but just which of them captivated yours the most?! Why is that? Were you transported along with Harry and his companions as an 11-year-old into the wizarding world in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone? Perhaps learning the tragic back story of Tom Riddle in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was more your cup of tea? Or maybe it was seeing it all come together in its epic conclusion with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows that truly captured you. Whatever the reason, this is your space to share your favorite book and why! Rules & Guidelines for this thread:- Before posting, please make sure you have read through the Newbie Process, Snitchseeker's Rules & FAQ, and perused the Site Resources forum.

Please do not talk about Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Cursed Child, Quidditch Through the Ages, etc. in this thread. There is a place for you to share about those right here.
- Likewise, this is not a place to share your views on the original 8 Harry Potter films. Just the books. There is a place to share your favorite film and why right here, however.

The Prisoner Of Azkaban is my favorite because of Professor Lupin and how the pace of the book flows. The story is also quite good.

I love all of them, but the book that was IT for me, that made me fell in love with the WW was The Prisoner of Azkaban. It is where the characters start to mature, and the story to go darker.

I grew up with these books, and I grew up with Harry. And after reading the seventh book, my childhood is definitely over - too adult things and issues are covered in it. Perhaps that's why this closing chord is so satisfying to me. I read it again recently. I don't like Voldemort's death scene in the movie. I loved that in the book, everyone was watching and there to see it, and in the end, Voldemort was just a regular corpse. All his attempts at immortality failed, and he was a regular human corpse like anyone else. In the movies, Harry is the only one who sees Voldemort die, and Voldemort turns into confetti so Harry doesn't even have his dead body to prove to everyone else that Voldemort's really dead this time.

My favorite book was always the Order of the Pheonix. I think it has one of my favorite climax sequences, the battle inside of the ministry with the Death Eaters

while i do love all the books, I feel like I'm a bit too bias for Half Blood Prince (book 6). We get to see a more in-depth storytelling for the other characters (like with Snape, Voldemort, etc) and finally the horcruxes were introduced (or well... explained to Harry) for this book.

The Order of the Phoenix is my favourite! I know it's too long for some, but I feel like we get to see so many more characters, the fight seen is epic and it's truly a wonderful introduction into seeing the kids step into adulthood and fighting for their futures (even if they are too young).

Prisoner of Azkaban is my favorite. It's everyone's favorite, but only because it's so great. A lot of cool elements were introduced, like the Knight Bus, Hogsmeade, and the Marauder's Map. I find the part where Fred and George introduce the map to Harry to be intriguing, because it's cool hearing them describe all the different Hogwarts secret passages.
Also, I love Crookshanks and the small side story of him helping Sirius, which the latter reveals in the Shrieking Shack. Plus, when Harry tries to kill Sirius, Crookshanks out-dogs Sirius by loyally jumping on his chest to protect him. That cat was like, "Ya wanna get to him, ya gotta go through me!"
And Ron standing up on his BROKEN LEG to protect Harry from Sirius is awesome. Saw a Tumblr post once that analyzed a quote in that scene: "Something flickered in Black's shadowed eyes." The posting fan asserted that flicker was Sirius realizing Harry had found friends just as loyal and willing to die for him as he did in James and Remus.
In that same set of chapters, Lupin "embraced Black like a brother" and I love, as a reader, going, "WHAT?!" and then I found out Scabbers is really Wormtail and I go, "WHAT?!" again.
Sirius's overall entrance is solid. In the first 3 books, Jo did a great job building up each one's subject (Philosopher's Stone, Chamber of Secrets, Sirius), so each of their entrances to the story is satisfyingly dramatic.
And finally, Harry's cementing of the connection between himself and his father. Every young boy wants to connect to his father. This connection that transcends life and death is locked together when Dumbledore tells Harry, "Prongs rode again last night." And when he tells him, "Your father is alive in you, Harry." And when he tells him, "In a way, you did see your father last night, Harry. You found him inside yourself.

I love the Order of the Phoenix for 2 reasons
1: Luna <3<3<3 The best character, in my opinion
2: The revolution against Umbridge, the DA
3: Also finding out that James Potter wasn't always viewed as high and mighty

This was hard but... Goblet of Fire. Harry proved his worth to everyone by winning the Tournament. However- he did end up having Cedric killed- or rather- blamed himself for Cedric's death.

Prisoner of Azkaban is definitely my favorite movie, but Order of the Phoenix or Half-Blood Prince are probably my favorite books (can't decide between them). The Dumbledore's Army stuff, and Dumbledore himself with the Aurors, are some of my favorite HP stuff in all the books, and honestly, nothing beats Peeves causing havoc at the Weasley twins' request. BUT, Harry himself kind of drove me nuts with how unlikable he was in that book, so Half-Blood Prince might edge it out.

Goblet of fire!
id say it has the most action and is the rise of voldemort, i may not like him, but he drives the entire series so it was exciting to see the rise of the dark lord [ and there was dragons lol ]!

| Goblet of Fire
I think Books 1 & 2 are unequivocal classics and there is an innocence and magic to them unmatched by the rest of the series. Prisoner of Azkaban took an unexpected dark turn but the time turner eventually went from something cool to the most blatant use of Deus Ex machina in fantasies modern history.
Goblet of Fire was the first time the world expanded and I think the first time JK Rowlings world building really came into its own. It had the wonder of the first two books and the darkness of the third. Beautiful book.

I really like the first book Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone as it unfolds all the adventures which Harry & his friends will have in the coming series,
i also like the Prisoner of Azkaban book as it has a story of suspense and we come to know who is Sirius Black and not to forget saving the lives of Sirius black & Buckbeak.

I love them all, absolutely, but I think if I had to choose my 2 favorites, it would be The Half-Blood Prince (My favorite Harry Potter book in the original format of a mystery at Hogwarts that Harry and friends have to solve) and the Deathly Hallows, which followed a completely different format and took our protagonists completely out of the comfortable fortress of Hogwarts and into the wilderness, where they fought a very adult battle with very little help and support from other adults for the first time. All books are masterfully written, but in these Harry and his friends really begin to come into their own and we get to see the true complexity, darkness, and grey areas of the wizarding world and all its secrets, which come to light more and more as they are forced to grow old enough to grapple with them.

Mine is prisoner of Azkaban. I love Sirius Black because he seams really weak but his feelings for Harry are really strong and you get to know about wormtail and James Potters friendships.

I love all the books but I have a soft spot for Half Blood Prince - the more in-depth history of Snape, Voldemort, the introduction of the Horcruxes and it's the final book where they still go to Hogwarts and attend classes as normal.

I love them all and can't decide. They're all strongly connected to each other!
I do feel something special for the last one though. I couldn't wait for the translation in my language, and read it in english when it came out. I was a kid and didn't know any english at the time -- I learned as I read the Deathly Hallows.

The Half-Blood Prince explained so much of the magic itself and the secrets that you've been dying to know as you read the whole series.

Goblet of Fire, hands down!! I love how much it opened the world up, and the concept of a magic tournament did so much for my imagination growing up!

I like the Order of the Phoenix because it introduces Bellatrix properly.
