| | Which Harry Potter book is your favorite? And why? Which is your favorite Harry Potter book?
And why?
The original seven works of J.K. Rowling captivated the hearts of young and old alike, but just which of them captivated yours the most?! Why is that? Were you transported along with Harry and his companions as an 11-year-old into the wizarding world in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone? Perhaps learning the tragic back story of Tom Riddle in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was more your cup of tea? Or maybe it was seeing it all come together in its epic conclusion with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows that truly captured you. Whatever the reason, this is your space to share your favorite book and why! Rules & Guidelines for this thread:- Before posting, please make sure you have read through the Newbie Process, Snitchseeker's Rules & FAQ, and perused the Site Resources forum.

Please do not talk about Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Cursed Child, Quidditch Through the Ages, etc. in this thread. There is a place for you to share about those right here.
- Likewise, this is not a place to share your views on the original 8 Harry Potter films. Just the books. There is a place to share your favorite film and why right here, however.

I really love them all but I have a soft spot for Chamber of Secrets and Goblet of Fire!

Prisoner of Azkaban because it introduced Remus and Sirius and I like the introduction of darker matters. Chamber of Secrets because it is mysterious and funny.

| The Original Seven
Hi! I've read and lived with the Harry Potter stories half of my life and I began my journey back in 199/2000.
The first novel is important to me because it's a gate-opener. It shows me Harry and the reasons why I need to read more about him. Then I have to say that the three books that I enjoy the most are:
* The Order of the Phoenix
* The Half-Blood Prince
* The Deathly Hallows
The story matures and darkens here and I really love the transition. It starts at the end of The Goblet of Fire and then it deepens. So utterly brilliant.
There are so many characters that blossom/develop in the last three novels and that draws me in and deep.
I keep returning to the stories continuously. Pure brilliance from Joanne Rowling.

You mean Goblet of Fire?
I think the Half-Blood Prince is the best one, but I admit that Order of the Phoenix is awesome due to its mixture of Hogwarts and the outside Wizarding World content.

I love all the books - I was gifted the entire set for my birthday one year, and ended up reading them all in a couple of months. I was recovering from surgery and they kept me occupied.

I think my favorite is Prisoner of Azkaban followed closely by Deathly Hallows. I love PoA because the story starts to get darker and it introduces Remus and Sirius. I love DH because it was just such a satisfying ending to the series.

Like many, PoA is my fave. It doesn't follow the formula the way the other books/movies do, and it was just a great time reading it and watching it. Jut my opinion.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Dusty Chandelier | Felix Felicis FTW
The felix felicis chapter is probably my absolute favorite out of all the books, I don't think Slughorn is a bad person, he's just very scared and ashamed.

| My Favourite Harry Potter Book? For fear of repeating myself, I won't be touching on how much I love the whimsy which is present in this book. Another reason why I love philosopher's stone is that it feels like if the rest of the series had never happened, than it could've been a self contained story. It feels cleanly wrapped up by the end, harry and co. uncover the mystery, beat the bad guy, and harry goes home for the summer where he will anxiously await the rest of his schooling. the sequel bait is there, sure, but it's not so very there that it takes over the ending. that and I feel it was the book that had the most slice of lifey "wizards doing wizard school stuff" content that I really like. the wizard fights, magical destinies and mysterious ancient artefacts are nice and all, but whatever happened to learning magic at wizard school while chilling out with your wizard pals? (looking at you deathly hallows ) |

Halfblood Prince is my favorite because it depicts the trio more as teenagers than hero’s. I think the other books try at this but HBP really achieves the teenagerness of small problems being bigger than they really are which makes it all more realistic

Order of the Phoenix is my favorite Harry Potter book. It's the first book where things seem serious and impactful the entire way through. I also found the ministry scenes near the end of the book are also great, they're some of my favorite action scenes in the entire series.

I'm not much of a reader of fiction - I tend to read non-fiction, so I've not read any of the books - I love the films though. I do intend to read the books at some point - my eldest daughter has read them all - her favourite is the Goblet of Fire.

I'm torn between POA and HBP. POA cause the time travel aspect appeals to the sci-fi nerd in me, and HBP cause you can finally get into Snape's head, so to speak.

Prisoner of Azkaban is my favorite because I love the way the mystery ends at the end. The ending with finding out all the stuff that was hidden all book is so cool and satisfying!

I think my favorite book is The Order of the Phoenix, which is weird because the movie version is my least favorite of the movies. But even though it's the longest book, for me it flew by. I loved the opening inside the Ministry of Magic. I love to hate Umbridge, such a good antagonist. I like all the new quidditch stuff and building the romance of Hermione and Ron. I love that the book is a character study of Harry and we get a lot of his mental issues, angst and pain. Fascinating book.

I definitely love all the books, no doubt! However, if I had to pick one - I would pick Goblet of Fire. I love it because I feel like its where it took a turn from the whimsical childhood stories that we grew up with, to a more mature book that dealt with darker, real world themes. Like political strife, death, quarrels with friends and all of that.
Also, I feel like it was where more of the world outside of Hogwarts & Diagon Alley was a bit more fleshed out, it made the Wizarding World feel more real, and made me feel more immersed in it |

I do love the half blood prince because it gave us a bit of an in depth insight about voldemort and especially snape which is pretty crazy. As the series go on I think it got a little darker and grittier through time and up to this day it still holds up and shows a great narrative.

Goblet of Fire will be my favorite, first Harry Potter book I've read without asking my sister about each characters history (because she's more of a Potterhead than I) also loved how they bloomed from being a kid to teenagers on this book.

Love them all but Prisoner of Azkaban edges it for me. Ironically it was my favourite reading them as a child and also as an adult. I vividly remember feeling shook with the twist involving Sirius.
