| | Which Harry Potter book is your favorite? And why? Which is your favorite Harry Potter book?
And why?
The original seven works of J.K. Rowling captivated the hearts of young and old alike, but just which of them captivated yours the most?! Why is that? Were you transported along with Harry and his companions as an 11-year-old into the wizarding world in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone? Perhaps learning the tragic back story of Tom Riddle in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was more your cup of tea? Or maybe it was seeing it all come together in its epic conclusion with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows that truly captured you. Whatever the reason, this is your space to share your favorite book and why! Rules & Guidelines for this thread:- Before posting, please make sure you have read through the Newbie Process, Snitchseeker's Rules & FAQ, and perused the Site Resources forum.

Please do not talk about Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Cursed Child, Quidditch Through the Ages, etc. in this thread. There is a place for you to share about those right here.
- Likewise, this is not a place to share your views on the original 8 Harry Potter films. Just the books. There is a place to share your favorite film and why right here, however.

Goblet of Fire. Because it's longer than the first three and I like long books. I haven't finished the rest so I don't know about them.

I really loved the last one because we get to see Harry, Ron and Hermione outside of school and everything gets tied in together.

Order Of The Phoenix, partly as its the longest and the most content but its a nice blend of fun/magic/drama
I agree that the PoA has the most well-rounded plot for the books plus the Marauder's make it a fun book to read as a whole

Hi there. My favorite one is Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. I remember the time when I read this book and then watched the movie and it was incredible. I don't know why but the way it was written and the plot affected me a lot |

I think Harry Potter's Philosopher's Stone is the best-looking. I feel a whole new world has been opened. It's novel and incredible. We are all Muggles. Imagine that the owls will send Hogwarts' admission notice one morning. And the first is the closest to the original.

HP and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
Here is why:
- Because the book wasn't 700 pages long;
- the Weasley twins give Harry the Marauders map;
- Harry learns how to perform the Patronus charm;
- We have my favorite DADA professor at Hogwarts, Remus Lupin;
- Harry gets to meet his godfather and almost gets to live with him;
- the time-turner saves more than one life.
The whole thing! I love it.

While Chamber of Secrets was awesome and Half-Blood Prince captured my heart, nothing beats Goblet of Fire to me. Mainly because of the other schools and watching the interactions of the different wizarding cultures and students

I can’t pick! If I had to choose it would probably be Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, because that’s where the turning point in the series was

Right now, torn between the fifth one and the seventh one. Fifth one because Harry begins to experience different emotions now that Voldemort's back and (because he's growing up). We see more anger, more empathy, more frustration, more 'adult' feelings, I suppose. And then the seventh one because it's the longest (most time spent in the HP universe) and because it's the end... everything comes full circle and is explained beautifully.

The Chamber of Secrets has always been my favorite ever since I was a kid. I think I’ve read it more than I have any other book in the series.

This one's actually kind of hard for me. I love Order of the Phoenix for it's complexity with Harry's character, but I love Deathly Hallows for all the action and suspense. Please don't ask me to choose between the two of them!!

PoA has always been my favourite. I love learning about the Marauders (plus Lupin and Sirius are two of my favourite characters). I guess the movie has a lot to do with my love for the book too, because the feeling/aesthetic that Cuarón managed to create is so fitting to the story that I also get it while reading the book.

It's kind of a toss up between Order of the Phoenix and Deathly Hallows. I especially love the climax of Order of the Phoenix, but Deathly Hallows shares a special place in my heart because it's the finale of the story, everything falling into place.

Hallows. I love how it all comes to an end, to see how the characters grew up to adults, to see Harry win against Voldemort.

Goblet of fire really got my imagining racing when I first read it and I found it impossible to put down. I loved that the focus of it was about the tasks and imagining the gorgeous Fleur, since she was described as so perfect in the book.

I'm going through a re-read of the series as an adult now so I may change my mind. But growing up, I really liked Goblet of Fire. When I first got into the series, GoF was just released. So I kept re-reading them and it always ended on book 4 and Voldemort returning, which had such an impact. It wasn't until 3 years later that book 5 came out and I could finally continue the story. So book 4 always stuck with me. I also really like how it broadened the world by introducing us to other schools and the Tri-wizard tournament. Plus the whole mystery aspect of Crouch jr was fascinating.

I loved all of the books and read each of them over and over again, but the one that stood out to me the most was definitely Harry Potter and the Goblet Of Fire.

My favoruite is a mix between the Goblet of Fire (because I enjoyed the learning of the other magic schools, am a sucker for ball and I enjoyed the storyline) and the Half Blood Prince (because I enjoyed learning more about Snape)

Out of all seven, my absolute favorite is "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban". In a previous thread, I mention that it is also my favorite movie.
Although I love "Deathly Hallows", I have to say that I love "Prisoner of Azkaban" more.
It might just be because I considered Lupin a great character, or because the Dementors are so enthralling and fascinating to me.
For the first time, I think, you see the true Magical community, you are thrust into a very different situation than before. It starts off with Harry jumping out into the unknown, all of a sudden he's not at the Dursley's anymore - he's run away - and while his little escapade was short lived, it was thrilling. He's alone, in the magical world for a couple of weeks. He is enjoying himself in Diagon Alley, he's actually doing his homework with diligence. This is the most freedom he's had up until this point, so we can see more of the wizarding world.
This is also where the story starts to mature, and in many ways the turning point of the story. Yes, Goblet of Fire is the middle of the story and thusly where the story's course changes to that fateful and epic conclusion we see in DH, but it all started with Wormtail's escape at Hogwarts.
We have this magnificent backstory about Harry's parents, and we get this glimpse into what his father's family was like. We are introduced to Sirius at last (he is mentioned in the first chapter of PoS, and the name stuck in my head--I wanted to know who he was!)
