Default Which Harry Potter book is your favorite? And why?

Which is your favorite Harry Potter book?
And why?

The original seven works of J.K. Rowling captivated the hearts of young and old alike, but just which of them captivated yours the most?! Why is that? Were you transported along with Harry and his companions as an 11-year-old into the wizarding world in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone? Perhaps learning the tragic back story of Tom Riddle in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was more your cup of tea? Or maybe it was seeing it all come together in its epic conclusion with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows that truly captured you. Whatever the reason, this is your space to share your favorite book and why!
Rules & Guidelines for this thread:
  1. Before posting, please make sure you have read through the Newbie Process, Snitchseeker's Rules & FAQ, and perused the Site Resources forum.
  2. This is not a questions thread. If you don't understand something and/or have a real question, go to The Question Thread.
  3. This is not a discussion thread. Rather, this is a place for you to share your personal experience and and opinion on the original 7 Harry Potter book series. Please do not talk about Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Cursed Child, Quidditch Through the Ages, etc. in this thread. There is a place for you to share about those right here.
  4. Likewise, this is not a place to share your views on the original 8 Harry Potter films. Just the books. There is a place to share your favorite film and why right here, however.
  5. No spam. This means no posting off topic or posting multiple times in a row.

The Prisoner of Azkaban has always been my favorite book out of the lot. I love how it would go more in depth about Harry's parents. It was also the first time he started to feel like he had a family with Sirius.

The Prisoner of Azkaban is my favorite because it was the first book of the series I read, and it was full of hope for Harry’s future.

I want to say Prisoner of Azkaban is my favorite because it was the first book of the series that I read, but I've got to go with the Deathly Hallows because have a lot of respect for how it shocked me. With most series, they eventually develop a pattern and become predictable, but even until the very end, that book threw stuff out of nowhere.

tough choice between the 1st one that started it all and the goblet of fire. I think the goblet of fire is where the real stories begins, I just feel like 4-7 really build off of the same story line, where as 1-3 each are kind of their own story.

But still like them all

I love the Prisoner of Azkaban the most mainly because we meet Sirius and Harry is introduced to a kind of intimacy that he's not well acquainted.

Half-Blood Prince because Draco Malfoy tbh. I think we get to see a little more into his life. And I love the relationship growth with Harry and Ginny

Default It’s order of the Phoenix for me 🙋🏼*♂️

Originally I voted DH, but in reflection I would say for me it’s ootp. Now I know this is generally unpopular but this was the first book I read and I had No idea just how good and different they are to the films. After seeing voldy return in the film I wanted to find out what happend next. And the rest is history.

Half blood prince - an almost perfect book (in my opinion) because we get to see in-depth character development for the likes of draco, voldemort etc. that have previously been quite one dimensional. My only criticism is the the introduction of felix felicis opens up too many opportunities where it should/could have been used in later plotlines (much like the time turner - it simply makes the scope of the magical world too wide!).

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban because we got to see Sirius Black in this one and while at the beginning we might have thought he was really out to get Harry we learn at the end that Sirius is his Godfather and that he wasn't the one who killed Harry's parents.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is my favorite, but I have only watched the movies so far. I plan on reading the books but this is my favorite movie and I am sure it will be my favorite book too because I like when Harry goes into the chamber and fights the Basilisk.

I know when you look at the character of Snape he's horrible - he really is, but even as an 14 year old (thats how old I was when I read the books) I was drawn to him and so the half blood prince became my fave. I loved that we learnt more about Snape.

Goblet of Fire for me as the best balance of seriousness and whimsy. It's the point where the childish perspective really starts to give way to a more mature conflict. Plus, there are a lot of memorable characters and scenes.

My favorite book of the series is Prisoner of Azkaban. The first three books are more lighthearted compared to what comes later. The backstory for the Marauders as well as details of what happened the night the Potters were attacted.

Same as for the favorite film, this one is a great preparation for more grim storyline starting from Goblet of fire. Also it never gets me bored, I could re-read it just after finishing the last page immediately.
