Which do you prefer, the films or the books?
And why?

Both hold special places in every Potterhead's heart, but which do you prefer? Do you enjoy revisiting Hogwarts on paper in the original 7 novels written by J.K Rowling or as a feast for the eyes in the 8 screen adaptions? Let us know and why!

i like the books more (the ones I have read) because there is so much description. And there are so many things that I never knew what they were until the second time I watched it or I read the book for that movie.

Books all the way. Movies never matched up, in my opinion.

I prefer the books because you get a lot more out of them. That and I was disappointed that Peeves wasn't in the movies.

Both have their advantages, but I would have to say that the books are better because they give you the back story to what you see in the movies. It gives you a better understanding of what’s going on.

For a visual of Hogwarts the movies are hard to beat . At first I watched the movie then read the book. Big mistake. Books so much better

Well, it's a difficulte question, but I think I prefer books, even if I have watch all of the movies and read just the 5 of 7 books, I prefer the books, because it is easier for a "newborn" potterhead to understand some things that will happen, without spoiler! What about you, what do you prefer? Opps, I wrote to the erong place, before

Books, because there's so much more room to imagine and immerse yourself. The third movie was pretty neat tho.

I prefer Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, because that is where the series picks up momentum as we get to witness the resurrection and arrival of Lord Voldemort.

I prefer the books because they are richer in detail than the movies.

I prefer once more prefer the books because they contain the thoughts of the characters and descriptions of settings and places which the movies have not.

I do not like the movies a lot like the books, because the movies skip some scenes and plots in the books.

Also, I do not like the movies like I like the books, because the movies changes many scenes, events, happenings and plots in the books.

I definitely prefer the books. I have the characters pictured in my mind, and it just feels more official. I love the movies also, but when I read the books I have hogwarts and characters different in my mind for some reason.

The movies are amazing. But nothing beats the books. They are just something else.

The books will always old a special place in my heart because my friend got me introduced to harry potter through the books and we traded them back and forth until I had to move schools.

I like both. the books provided me with details and the imagination of not only with the characters but with the HP world. The movies solidified the fangirl in me. The castings were good and the movies were part of the reason I'm always looking forward to the cinema.

It's so hard to choose honestly because they did such a good jobs with (most) of the movies, but I think I have to go books. I reread them every year and they never cease to entertain.

I have to say I loved both, but now I prefer the movies. They’ve just made everything real in my opinion. I know as you read you become part of the world, but seeing it on film makes it seem even more real and not in my head.
