Which do you prefer, the films or the books?
And why?

Both hold special places in every Potterhead's heart, but which do you prefer? Do you enjoy revisiting Hogwarts on paper in the original 7 novels written by J.K Rowling or as a feast for the eyes in the 8 screen adaptions? Let us know and why!

I prefer the books, mainly because they’re able to contain so much more detail. The world-building is insane!

Smile reveals aspects of the Wizarding World not found in the movies

I love the books more than the movies because they reveals aspects of the Wizarding World not found in the movies.

Ravenclaw I like the books

The books have always been my favorite because they went into much more detail. Also, the way they found the room of requirment makes more sense (to me at least)

Definitely the books, because they provide a much richer experience. However, the movies should also be credited, because I wouldn't have been able to visual the full magical effect of the world of Harry Potter!

I love both actually, the book gave you every detail that you needed. While the movie made you experience the magic that we imagined.

So difficult to choose but I’d lean towards the films. As much as I enjoy reading I just get goosebumps every time the theme tune starts and the films begin.

Default Peeves!

I personally prefer the books just because there is so much more story to them. The characters are more sassy the plot line is better and of course Peeves is there! But I do find I end up talking more about the films because more of my friends have seen the films and not read the books

The books, but I enjoy the films too. The books remain favorite because using your own imagination pulls you into the story more.

I love both.
I love how books make me visit magical places in my head, but I also enjoy watching the movies over and over again.

I prefer the movies to be honest, it's hard for me to sit down and read something for a long while. Something about being able to visually see something, gets me invested into something.

Both for different reasons. the books have so much details but it is nice to see the stories unfold on the screen too.

The books. I've always been more fond of books as I find it easier to paint an image from a book as opposed to a movie. The movies also miss things out that are my favourite part of the books

I have a soft spot for the films as those are what I saw first and that is how my daughter (svspiria on here who referred me) got into them and it is something we share having movie marathons.

Preferred the books - they held a better detail to them

To my mind, the answer to this question is not so simple. Both books and movies have their own pros and cons. But personally, I think that reading is much more interesting.

Reading the books was better for the max amount of detail and you could let your imagination go. Movies gave me a visual representation and made it more real.

I love both the movies and the books. But the books are the ones with whom I started this journey and they are the ones I ended it with. So they are always special to me.

Nothing beats the books in my opinion! Even though they did an amazing job with the movies, I prefer to imagine everything by myself. And there are always fun details that you will only find in books!

I like the books best because half the story is based on my imagination. There is little left to imagine in a movie.
