| | Journalists Desks
Reminiscent of the muggle stock market, the Daily Prophet journalists desks area is cluttered, loud and cramped. Mismatching desks fill the floor in what was probably once an orderly manner, their surfaces covered with piles of paperwork, back issues of the newspaper, personal affects, empty coffee mugs (and coffee mug rings) and all manner of other oddities.
There is no clear definition for which section of desks belongs to which section of writers, but they have all managed to adapt to the unspoken agreement of which group sits where. The floor is shared by the News section, Lifestyle section, Sports section writers and editors as well as the Layout editors.
From here, the entire office is visible and each and every journalist and editor is able to hear when one of the Editors-in-chief beckon. The danger is... they can all be seen and heard by said Editors as well. You are here. |

"Fine. No taking over anything. I bet the Ministry would frown on the Prophet's annexation of Diagon Alley anyway," Hunter summoned a mug from the coffee station for Ian. It almost hit him in the head before settling on the desk next to him.
And then she summoned the brimming coffee pot. "I'm quite good at getting coffee, you know? I should get paid extra for it."
Jane laughed good naturedly and nudged her empty coffee cup toward Ian.
Moar plz?
"Well lets hope a few missing cobblestones won't mess with the Feng Shui and cause some financial cataclysm in the Alley." Jane so knew what Feng Shui was. Stuff had to face ways and stuff.
She started peeking through a brochure for Quality Quidditch Supplies. Up next yes?

Hogwarts RPG Name: Tahir Kovac Khatri First Year | Ama!Nabs IS NAMED MINHO & Is SO Black Panther Right Now Nearly decapitated by a summoned mug, Ian did his best in hiding his displeasure. He was, for the sake of the paper, trying to be amicable and mend...whatever it was that needed mending....between himself and Hunter Bones.
If there was something in between anyways. Was there?
Taking the hovering coffee pot carefully into his hands, Ian tilted his head. "Lo and behold," he began in a bored yet grand (*snort*) voice. "The power of Bone's summoning prowess. I commend you. I'll give you a tip for the coffee if that's what you really want."
Before he could he trust himself to speak again, Hoshino decidedly filled Loo Roll Jane's cup and then his own. "In any case, I'll go with you, Jane. If just to make sure you don't get carried off to Mungo's"
Or...something. |

"Aw you're sweet, Ian." Jane commented when he filled her coffee cup, her eyes twinkling a bit at his next comment. He told good jokes that Ian. "If I did get carried away to St. Mungos I'd make the most of it and go undercover as a patient. I hear there is a healer there who is a complete terror, she might be a hag you know, probably eats children."
She noticed a little envelope on her desk and eyed it curiously. When had that got there? Had it been there all along? Jane took a sip of her second coffee and pulled the envelope closer. Quote:

"Sure thing." Jane answered, pleased that Hunter actually wanted to come hang out with her. Her, right? Not Ian? Jane still had her suspicions after that night at The Stub.
She opened the envelope and her eyes went wide.
"I have to... go to Ms. Knoll's office. She wishes to speak with me." Why did Jane feel like a naughty student who had been called to speak with the headmaster? Or in this case, the deputy? Had anyone ever wondered why the Sherriff had got it but the Deputy hadn't? Those Deputies were made of stern stuff. Jane hurriedly downed her coffee and stood up.
"I think I'll be right back. I hope? Ummm and then we will go out and run our errands." She smiled between Hunter and Ian and then hurried off to see the Managing Editor.
Even her title was scary.

She tapped her foot against the desk impatiently. "You're really coming to rescue the stones for Jane?"

Hogwarts RPG Name: Tahir Kovac Khatri First Year | Ama!Nabs IS NAMED MINHO & Is SO Black Panther Right Now Loo Roll Jane clearly took her job seriously. Every moment for her was a good one to spin into a story, apparently. Nodding as she went, Ian turned his attention (and raised brows) towards Hunter.
"Obviously," he answered and raised the mug to his lips. Black coffee. Huh. "I'm coming because I'm bored. There's nothing more to it." And maybe because he was curious to watch the hole stone hauling attempt.
Heh. "You really like that girl, don't you?" |

Ian was over there, wasn't he? Was that him? Damn Sienna's sunshine hair. Rico was still half-dazed from the encounter.
"HOSHINO," he called out, almost startling himself. "I need to speak to you."
There, see, job half done.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Tahir Kovac Khatri First Year | Ama!Nabs IS NAMED MINHO & Is SO Black Panther Right Now Loud. Someone was unusually loud today. Again, the faithful coffee mug collided with Ian Hoshino's lips for a long swig. "I think the boss wants me," he whispered to Hunter. "Don't go terrorizing the streets without me."
Pushing off Loo Roll Jane's desk, Ian headed towards Serio's office, coffee still in his hand. |

| Yeahhh, Mr White! Yeah science! The rather eerie and strangely silent office was little unnerving as Nathan exited the conference room and headed back to his desk. Where was everyone? The small office was usually crammed to the rafters with journo types sweating to meet their deadlines.
He sat in his rickety old seat which emitted a loud squeak as his behind came into contact with the seat pad. That was new. Would Ian, as the new boss, use the budget in the same way as Rico had intended and buy new furniture for the staff? He wished he asked in the meeting but there it seemed there were far more important matters to be discussed. Nathan was almost tempted to bring a nice comfy chair from home, but, the man was a Greenwood, and therefore as stubborn as a mule and he didn't see why he should.
Meh.
A cushion instead maybe..
He took a large gulp of his steadily cooling coffee before setting it down on the desk, then opened his draw and retrieved a few papers. He began to scan the latest finished stories for the next edition of the rag.

Emma tip-toed into the office. Yes, tip-toed. She still wasn't good with company, which was why she did most of her work elsewhere. At her home, mainly. Which was stupid, really, and therefore she didn't really have any friends. At all. Of course, there was Abilee, and Pippa, and Jenkins, but she hadn't seen them in so long. She made a mental not to herself to send an owl to them later.
But now she was in the office, and her quiet entrance, coffee in hand, was going thankfully unnoticed as the room was basicly empty. Well, apart from one ocupant, whom she recognised vaguely. But only through working, she'd never actually spoken to him before. Slinking through the numerous desks, she slunk down into her own.

Daphne Jones headed towards her desk for the first time in ages. She smiled as she sank into her chair and saw the neatly arrange space atop her desk. Before she left on holiday, she made sure to clean it up, so upon her return, she'd feel relaxed. "Mission accomplished," Daphne said to herself, feeling strangely tranquil.
She immediately began to check her "IN" box, which was piled higher than it ever had been before. Daphne's gaze returned to the clean, tranquil space on her desk. After this brief pause, she picked up the first letter on the pile and opened it. Going through this backlog of information would take the better part of the day. Daphne wondered whether she'd be able to sneak out for lunch, but imagined she'd be too busy for a break.

Hogwarts RPG Name: November {Noe} Franze First Year | Brain Twin | MASTAH ASHURRII | Reisdent PokeNerd | Digifangirl The little coffee break room Ollie had first discovered was much too small. It was okay when it was just him and a couple people. Once more filled in, though, the room seemed even smaller, with fewer places to sit, and some people wet and others loud and claustrophobia set in. His friends never understood why he hung out on the fringe and tried to avoid their large, intimate crowds. After bumping through the room full of people, Ollie slipped out, down the street to the Leaky.
When he returned, an extra large cappuccino in hand and a satchel dangling from his shoulder, he took his explorations elsewhere and instead, found what he assumed were the journalists desks. At least, he imagined the desks were intended for such, despite being covered with a number of junk.
Hesitantly, he dropped into a seat at a random desk. Three people already seemed to be in here, and one looked none too comfortable. New, perhaps, he presumed? The other female was checking through a box, and a male was busy doing something at this desk. Well. This was... awkward? Weird?
Ollie shrugged his satchel from his shoulders, opened it and withdrew a leatherbound journal. In this, he carefully noted the details of his article and interviews he needed to make, for further note. Taking a drink of his cappuccino, he looked around again.
"I take it... people don't hang out here much?" he noted, attempting to make conversation with these unknown co-workers of his. |

"I take it... people don't hang out here much?" he noted, attempting to make conversation with these unknown co-workers of his. Daphne poked her head up. In her experience, the desk area was quiet for the most part, but she welcomed the change in tone. She often found this part of the office much like a library; if she chewed too loudly she feared a disgruntled librarian would tell her off.
She smiled to the guy. "It's really quiet here, for the most part," she said, carefully matching the volume of her voice to his. After all, there was no real reason to whisper, there were only three people around. "I'm Daphne," she said, extending her hand.
Several of her fingers had rings of various colours on them. She had seen similar displays in muggle fashion magazines and wanted to bring the trend to the wizarding world. Daphne dressed fashionably ever day to make the best first impression. It also kept her busy, as getting dolled up was no easy or quick task. "I'm the editor of the Sports section," she explained, sipping her coffee. Her eyes drifted to the pile of papers, but decided this conversation would be more rewarding than reading useless memos. "I just got back from a holiday, and I guess the world doesn't stop for me," she laughed, picking up a note and putting it aside.

Hogwarts RPG Name: November {Noe} Franze First Year | Brain Twin | MASTAH ASHURRII | Reisdent PokeNerd | Digifangirl Sports was a matter Ollie had never understood. In his family, sporting events weren't prioritized, like in other houses, and thus footie and Quidditch never really meant much to him. He preferred books and paintbrushes and clay between his fingers. Shocking further, though, Ollie found himself surprised that she was Editor of Sports. Somehow, those flashy rings seemed to contrast with his concept of a sporty girl.
Despite this all, she had responded to him, and that was fine by him. He nodded at her, as if he completely understood, even though he had just met her and shown up here. Nonetheless, the noise level of the area was as she said. Quiet.
"I guess... I sort of expected something else," Ollie offered with a limp shrug of his shoulders. "Television and movies depict journalism vastly differently than this. In movies... in movies it's... exciting." He closed his eyes and took a breath - his fingers tingled. "Noise, bustling people, the sound of copiers. Muggle world is different, I realize." When he reopened his eyes, the man chuckled. "But this... feels almost... boring. Everyone seems to focus in their own little world and I suppose it just... it's something unexpected."
Again, he offered a nod at her. Holidays. The world never stopped. This he could relate to.
"At least you enjoyed your holiday?" he asked. Workloads were daunting, but as long as the time had been enjoyed, he supposed it time well spent. |

Daphne unrolled some parchment and began to scribble down a response to one of her memos. She couldn't possibly reply to all this paperwork, but she found ones from notable members of the sports world and took time to politely respond.
She liked that Ollie was speaking, it felt more like a newsroom now. "It can be exciting. There's just not a lot going on now. Don't worry, working here is really fun," she smiled. She could tell Ollie was having second thoughts about working here, which saddened her a little. She loved her DP work, especially after getting to go to the Quidditch World Cup, and he should love it, too. "My holiday was lovely, thank you for asking!" she replied politely, as she had been trained to do since a young age. Being polite was always the way to go. "I have family in Barcelona and me, my dad, and my mum stayed in a home they have in Barcelona. The weather was lovely and the beaches so nice."
She could happily go on, but she had to continue to go through all her paperwork. "You mentioned the muggle world, you spend much time around them?" she asked. Her mum was muggle born, and Daphne had spent a lot of time in the muggle world. But it'd been a while since she'd done something particularly muggle-like. Ollie probably knew much more about it than she did. He brought up a bunch of things she had never heard of before.
