Northern Line of the London UndergroundThe abandoned stations along the Northern Line have been reclaimed for use by the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. It's dark down there!
The track bed between Cranley Gardens and Muswell Hill, though incomplete, has been modified to accommodate a main floor suitable for a working space. As a result of this you will find that each division of the MLE has set up shop in sections at intervals along this space. An assortment of second hand desks and chairs have been provided and small partitions help differentiate one division from another. Despite the length of the track, it's still rather cosy, so here's to hoping you enjoy a collaborative environment.
Parts of the space may be used for division meetings, simply pull up and chair and form a tight circle, alternatively the main floor also serves as a conference room. All Department wide meetings will happen here.

Coming to an open area of sorts, Simon looked around to take it all in, his work satchel slung over his shoulder. This was the work space? The offices, or rather office they would be working with from now on. It seemed to the auror to just be a few step ups from a cleaned up construction sight. Did they even have the work files of all the cases that had to still be worked on.
The deTalone case? The security sweeps he had been running?
He moved further into the area, settling into the open space that wasn't denoted for any particular division and allowed himself to slowly turn around to get a good glance of the entire room as he moved in a gentle circuit. His eyes briefly pausing as he caught sight of reference to both the auror office and the security one but still continuing on.

Once she had made her way past reception and slightly further down the track, the woman came to a slightly more open space. Her eyes fell onto the work stations, them all being partitioned into each of the divisions. She proceeded to glance down further, as far as her eyes would allow her to see. It was dark and slightly chilly and she pulled her coat around her a little tighter as she took a few more steps forward into the desk area. The Greeks eyes scanned for where her desk would be situated for she covered two divisions with her current role.
She spotted the man she had followed into the area and she coughed to announce herself, not wanting to startle him. She'd been an Auror once, she knew they were always on their feet. "Hello" she called out, her voice echoing down the track, accent loud and clear. Eerie but she supposed the atmosphere was quite fitting. "I'm Octavia" she introduced herself, stepping forward to join him in the gap.

After deciding it was indeed Simon ahead of him, Jory decided to catch up with him. But it seemed the man practically flew! Darn, he walked fast! Well in the end, he did catch up. After Simon had already entered a room.
Jory paused at the doorway and looked around. It wasn't so bad, right? Still, he preferred the Ministry. And there was Simon!
"Hello, Simon,'' he called, heading over to the Auror. "How are you?'' Not having a fit about the new work place, right? Oh! There was another person whom he hadn't seen before. "Hello. I'm Jory,'' Jory added.

The one thing about the space was it certainly echoed. So Simon heard the footsteps even before the cough and turned to notice an unfamiliar woman approach and greeting him. "Hello..." he returned, offering a hand to shake and be polite. "I'm Simon," the young man introduced in exchange. "Welcome to the MLE." Now don't run away due to our new digs.
He managed a smile when he spotted one of the YATIs over her shoulder. Jory had joined the team last year and he had gotten good vibes off of him, though he had hoped that he had actually had more time to work with him. "Hello," Simon returned before debating how to answer the younger man's question. "Alright...More than a little perplexed though, for certain." But then he supposed they all were.

Ooookay.
So needless to say, Anna was in for a bit of a shock when she reported to work this morning. It all started with not being able to access the entrances to the MoM and then discovering that her new workplace was here, in an abandoned area of the London Underground.
As she traveled the tracks and looked for her work area, she wondered where her husband had set up the Transportation crew. Were they nearby? She heard voices, so she followed them and pretty soon, she could see a few others just up ahead.

"How about you? Did you enjoy the break?"
So, he and Simon didn't get to work much together during his first year of training but it was a new year and maybe that would change this time around. Right now, Jory nodded in agreement with the Auror. "Yeah, I'd prefer it if we were back at the Ministry.'' But hey, at least they were back to work and in his case, training. And hopefully they'd make a lot more progress with the deTalone case.
"I'm good. The break was alright but I'm really glad to be back.'' Yep! Jory was back and ready to get to work!
Well, this was a rather unappealing place wasn't it? At least it made others not want to even attempt to bother with MLE for now anyway. Maybe. Who knows. All Blaise knew was that on his first day back to the British Ministry in his old department, this was definitely far from what he had pictured.
Once he stepped into what he figured was the area they were supposed to be in, he glanced around. He wasn't sure who all would be here considering he didn't know too many people.
Blaise noticed Simon as he walked around, and gave him a nod of his head to acknowledge him. This time he wouldn't interrupt his conversation. He made himself comfortable on one of the desks, skipping out on the chair entirely, to face the rest of the people in the area.

Her. Schedule. Was. Messed. Up... and this was not the way she had hoped to start her second term in the top job. Though at least there was nothing to suggest that the lockout had been a fault of theirs, no. As far as she was concerned, it wasn't. After leaving her make-shift office at Alexandra Palace, Emily walked purposefully to the communal work floor, having taken the shortcuts through service access doors and inner station corridors so as to quicken the trip to what felt like a mere stroll. The communal work floor they had erected in time for this 'opening' was at least less likely to be insect and rat infested, the tracks being boarded up saw to that.
It was time to get back to work, and irrespective of their whereabouts and the implications of not being able to access their work, Emily was still pleased to be back. Work proved to be ample distraction to the grievances of being locked out of the office. The show had to go on...
A blue folder tucked under her arm, Emily nod her head in greeting to those few that had already assembled. Bennett, Stonewall, Newell and Carlisle she was familiar with. Blaise though, got a double nod, "Not what you expected, huh? We'll talk soon..." she mused as she passed him, her attention captured by the slightly familiar face from among the recent applicants and MLE hopefuls - and she rather enjoyed crushing the hopes and dreams of a few. Knuckleheads they were, glorified air breathers. "And you must be Ms Theodori, welcome," she greeted a hand extended for a shake. She didn't bother introducing herself, it was clear enough who she was, no?
Now... where were the others?
Did they not realise there was a meeting scheduled to start with or without them? Hhhhmmm?
....
Grunting beneath her breath, Emily commandeered one of the station desks - a tacky hand me down with scratched paint and crude engravings - and dragged it across the floor a meter or two before perching herself on the edge.
Her lack of apology for the screeching table legs which echoed through the underground was evidence enough to suggest she wasn't in the best of moods, and that she perhaps hadn't had her on-the-way-to-her-level coffee yet, owing to the fact that the levels of the underground and their multitude of stairs were different to those she was used to.
The underground itself she liked, the break in routine and lack of proximity to the other departments she didn't.
"Meeting starts in five," she announced flatly once the echoing had subsided. In other words, gather round and pull up a chair.

Seeing the Department Head just up ahead, Anna finished the walk to what she assumed was her new work area then returned the woman's nod of acknowledgment. Funny, but this woman had always seemed familiar, and it wasn't just because she was the Department Head of Law Enforcement.
"Good morning," Anna said, reaching her co-workers. She paused to take a long look around. Ugh. This was every claustrophobic person's worst nightmare. "Any idea where Magical Transportation's located?" She was supposed to have lunch with her husband today...

Not long after Octavia had entered the 'room', another man (Jory) had joined them and was talking to the other man, whom she had now learned was called Simon. She stood patiently waiting for their greetings to end before she saw both he, and Simon had introduced themselves to her. "Thank you" she spoke in response to the welcome. "Wasn't quite what I was expecting.." she briefly glanced around the facilities. "I'm Octavia" she smiled warmly at them both, knowing fully well that she would have to introduce her name multiple times today. It was all part of starting a new job, she supposed.
Two other people had joined but neither of them decided to speak. She gave them a nod in acknowledgement before noticing her new department head had entered the facility. She spoke to the others before her attention was turned on Octavia. She extended her hand, accepting the offer of a firm handshake. "That would be me. And thank you. The chosen location is.. unusual" she pondered. Where on Earth were all the other departments hidden? Spread across this vast city?
Thankfully due to the fact she had been living here for a year and she had spent a couple of months at a time staying in Britain when she had been travelling for four years, the woman had yet to have gotten lost. Plus she always had her wits about her, perhaps an aspect of her past careers.
She grabbed a chair and twisted it to face inwards, towards the rest of the group. She sat, crossing one leg over the other and back straight, ready for the meeting to begin.

"Hello," Simon greeted a newcomer to the group. He vaguely remembered her joining the department before but her name escaped him. Turning back to the YATI, he nodded in agreement. "I think we all would." He doubted many if any were in the mood to deal with the new working conditions of the ministry. Except maybe Mysteries...the arrangements might just interest them with their types of areas of expertise.
Ah there was Blaise, a new or rather returning after leaving member of the department. The auror returned the nod sent his way and silently acknowledged the non-interruption before biting back a chuckle at Jory's further remark. A young man after his own heart, anxious and raring to go rather than linger in their vacation. "Despite everything, I am as well."
And there their fearless leader appeared, another one Simon was sure was glad to be back to work. It was the one rare thing the two of them shared other than their training and time as aurors. She too got a return nod as she greeted them all, actually speaking to Blaise in the circuit. He shook his head at the question about transportation but thinking he might know soon enough. The head of security probably knew given the need to guard and survey it.
Simon looked around once more, debating his next move as they all seemed to want to try and settle in, distracted at the sharp sounds coming from Emily working on making the "conference room" out of their humble abode.
Right...meeting.
Settling on the auror section of the office since that had been where his former desk would have been, Simon deposited his bag on the desk that seemed the least the worse the wear. Then taking out some parchment and a quill he was thankful he had on him, he took ahold of the chair that resided there and moved it to the table they would be meeting at apparently. Taking a seat and joining Emily and Octavia.
"Morning," he said, finally properly greeting the former.
Ludovicus walked into the... well, it wasn't a room. They were in a deserted tunnel underground. It was dark, gloomy, poorly painted, the footsteps echoed like they were in a horror movie, and the rats made too much squeaky noise. Or maybe that was just in his head. All in all, it was not pleasant.
"Hello." He greeted the general crowd, for the second time today since no one seemed to see anyone anyway. He didn't bother with introductions or the chitchat again, it was dark, no one saw anyone. Grabbed a chair from a random place, he pulled it up and positioned it close to Emily. "Hey." He greeted her, not meeting her eyes, because really. This was not his day.

Good morning? Oh no... it was hardly that, Emily gave Anna a look which question her greeting. This would take some getting use to before anything would be good. She needed to revise her schedule, there were things lacking in her mornings which she needed in order to function without being a hag. As for transportation, that, she could help with. Emily flipped open her folder, having not said a word in return thus far, and cast her eyes down the list on the first page. "Abandoned boat yard," she supplied without further detail. Those could come later. Work ought to be the focus of the woman's attention.
Oactavia appeared well put together, and the firm handshake exuded confidence. Good. As for the location being unusual? ... Emily supposed it was, but it made perfect sense to her, hence her choosing it in the first place. Minus the occasional hum from the passing trains at the active end of the network, and the pitter patter of little feet -- the non-child variety, it was peaceful and private. "It'll grow on you, you'll see," or perhaps not, either way, she didn't care. This was temporary, because Merlin knew she'd blast her way back into the Ministry if she had to.
Patience was low, so all she could do was suffer in silence by sitting a while longer. How hard was it to catch a train in? Really?
…
Vic's usual cheerfulness was lacking, and this, did not go unnoticed. "Hey to you too," she replied, eyes on him. Did they need to have a talk after this? Hhhmm?
Suddenly feeling more lenient, Emily checked her watch in the dim light before glancing around the space. They could wait another minute or two.
"Final call," she projected down the tunnel. The echo would reach the stragglers. See? Tunnels be useful.

Anna raised her eyebrows at the look her department head had given her. Yes. She'd said good morning. What had the woman expected her to do--run in and start yelling at everyone as if she thought it was all their fault? Well, no. She could at least wish everyone well in this...
...well, confusing situation seemed to be an understatement. But yeah, something like that.
She did, however, nod at the answer she was given. "Wow...," she said, trailing off. "Well, thank you." Abandoned boat yard? Ewww. Anna was suddenly at least somewhat thankful she was in an underground, abandoned train line.
At the sound of the final call, Anna focused her attention on her department head. Questions. She had 'em.

"I saw a rat," Genevieve announced to whoever would listen as she approached the meeting area. It wasn't fear, it was just a greeting. Of sorts. Random information for the uninitiated. It was a bummer they were stuck down here in the tunnels, just when Genevieve had been SURE she was about to get her very own desk in the Auror office.
Now she'd probably end up having to ride the train around all day just to find a place to sit down. Very funny, Emily.
"Big as my head. Well, big as Vic's head," Genevieve nodded at the prosecutor (attractive thing, snappy dresser, really big noggin) with a grin. "I fed him your coffee to make him stop following me." Just FYI, Boss Lady. You used to have coffee before you chose the Underground as a hide out.

Blaise watched as Emily glided across the room in all her Department Head fashion. It didn't seem to phase her about the location of where they were at, but he was almost positive this was one of the worst possible spots to be put. It was interesting watching all of the people enter the work area - the varying ages and appearances of all of them. And then some younger girl yelling about rats... That was something he had noticed too, but was surprised he hadn't seen any more of them.
Even then, it didn't surprise him with the tarnished reputation that MLE was sporting here recently. Yeah... That probably had something to do with it.
Blaise raised an eyebrow at her with her comment in passing. Why would she need to talk to him? It was his first day back. There couldn't have been anything he did wrong already, there was no way. "Yes Ms. Boss Lady," he replied, holding onto his own folder and re-positioning himself on the desk he had accustomed his rear end on.

The meeting was about to start. Jory would like to chat more with Simon. Not about the holidays but about the man's work in the field. Jory hadn't gotten much field experience and really wanted to hear an Auror's take on it. But that would have to wait for now.
Instead, he grabbed a chair and positioned it so that it faced Emily just as Genevieve joined them. Jory bit back a laugh when she mentioned the rat. They'd probably be seeing more of those down here...
Falling quiet at Johnathan's question Kennedy made his way toward the group of people. He honestly didn't know what was going on. And that tickled his curiosity, which only had him thinking of so many scenarios.
Hearing Emily's voice echo through the place, Kennedy jerked his head for John to follow him. Woah. Full house on first day of work. That was...really good actually.
Noticing a few familiar faces, Kennedy nodded at them in greeting. Then his eyes landed on face (Anna) that he could have swore was familiar. Of course he hadn't met her, but...
... He coudln't place it. She got a friendlier nod from him.

Silence. That's all Kennedy had to respond with. 'Course that didn't necessarily mean bad or good news, it simply meant that this wasn't the time to discuss the situation and John respected that.
Nodding and following Kennedy, John made his way to the work area where there was more people.
Even though John didn't know anyone (except for Kennedy) he gave everyone a kind nod and folded his arms waiting for whatever was yet to come.

Wow was most definitely the right word, Anna was on the money with that one. She couldn't fathom being near the water with its horrendous stench. No, the underground was far more pleasant than any other decrepit abandoned location. Blaise's Boss Lady remark amused her greatly, though she had to admit she preferred Vic's version best. Scary Boss Lady had a nicer ring to it.
Emily peered up as Genevieve joined their ranks, engaging them with rat talk. She didn't comment, they were around and about, not an issue. Her observation of said rat was amusing though, and she couldn't help but spare a glance at Vic - and more to the point, his head. Impressive rat. Emily averted her gaze to her folder so as to hide a smirk, but quickly looked back up again. Genevieve could always be replied on for a coffee run, and while she didn't expect it, it was appreciated. This however, was not. "And you couldn't kick the rat? hex it? jinx it? curse it?" Her eyebrows were raised in mild alarm. Sacrificing perfectly good coffee to a rat was perhaps the most ridiculous thing she'd heard, so Emily concluded it was a joke. A joke. "Branxton, you'll achieve little by asking, actions speak louder than words. But by all means, take a desk and it's yours."
But alas, finally the stragglers were emerging from the shadows, literally. Emily didn't have the patience to wait any longer, late comers would experience the consequences.
...
Panning the area, eyes on everyone, Emily began. "Alrighty, let's kick things off because I know we all have better things to be doing," or at least she did, and they could make themselves useful. Mmhhmm. "First of all welcome back, I know this is a drastic change but I assure you it is temporary, we'll be back in the Ministry in no time..." perhaps wishful thinking, there was no knowing how long it would take, but they would be getting back in. "Please welcome to the department Octavia Theodori for Wizengamot, Johnathan Walker... the second...," seriously, the second? "for Secuirty," a glance to the man with Escalante. "Also please welcome back Blaise Carlisle who has kindly taken up the post of Head of Security, Blaise apologies but it seems one of your officers has gotten lost on their way here.." such a shame, though McQueen would be in for a treat when he finally made it. If he finally made it. What amused her most was how candidates always built themselves up to be promising, and this was short of that. "I trust you all to look out for one another, we're all back at square one here, so please exercise some patience and work collaboratively where necessary."
She wanted to just launch into her actual agenda items, but perhaps it would be prudent to settle any questions they had first. Emily moved the folder from her lap to the flat of the desk, her palms resting on the edge. "Before I continue, are there any questions, urgent or otherwise?" Speak now or forever hold your peace... until after the meeting.

After he heard the echo of the Boss Lady's voice ringing in the whole deserted underground place, Josh let out a whisper of a not-so-rude curse. Yeah, there was the meeting. Darn...he had to be quick. But also he had to be done with what he was doing so it took a bit more time, just a bit, before he rushed into the general work area. Emily was talking to the peeps which meant the meeting already started and he was late.
Whooops...
Before walking to the presence of his boss, Josh quickly fixed his clothes as they were kind of messed up from his sprint in the place. He, then, stopped himself when he was about to brush his hair quickly with his hands. He had better not touch anywhere anymore with those hands...yet, that was, until he was sure they were finally hygienic enough. Then he walked past Emily and stood next to his co-workers, of course, facing the Boss Lady.
He cleared his throat.
"Ahemm..." was she angry? "Sorry for being...late, boss...Emily." Maybe she would be less angry if he used her first name to ease the...air. "I had to find a bathroom. I drank too much tea at breakfast i suppose so...bathroom was needed urgently. It took so much time, sorry. And um..."
He eyed everyone in the place and turned back to his boss before going on. "And i apologize everybody for choosing a random...place for that. I know it won't add anything good to this already smelling area but i was being late. I guess you guys understand that."

And the meeting was starting. Jory fidgeted with the strap of his work bag as he listened to Emily. They were all hoping to be back at the Ministry. Hopefully "temporary" didn't last long. He didn't like it here though it seemed better than an abandoned boat yard.
His eyes flicked towards the unfamiliar people as Emily introduced them. So this guy, Carlisle, had worked here before. Of course Jory didn't know him as he only joined the Department last year. As for questions...he had none at the moment.
The YATI member looked around as Joshua joined the group. What was he apologizing for anyway? Underground wasn't bad. Then Jory heard the rest of the statement. Uh oh...Did Josh...?

Jackson ran into the room and stopped dead in his tracks. The meeting had started...not that he didn't expect that it would...especially since he was horribly late.
"I'm so...soo...sorry, Ma'am and everyone. I got lost...no excuse I know. I'm Jackson McQueen," he nodded apologetically at everyone and especially at the woman who seemed to be their Head since she was the one doing the talking.
"This is the first time I've been on the underground system here and I didn't know it was going to be so confusing. I assure everyone this will be my last mistake for the day." he told all the people in the room, but directing his full apology to his Department Head. Then he found himself a seat and sat down, quickly popping out his notepad and pen.
"Sorry for the interruption, Ma'am," he popped his head back up after belatedly realizing what he had done.
....nope definitely not making a good impression at all.
'Good one, Jackson. First day on the job and you're already in the doghouse.' Jackson silently chastised himself.

Vic was being the Grouchy Vampire in this group, he was slumped onto his chair and leaned his arms on his legs. The young blonde with the rat tale got a mumble, "Bloody rats and their little voices." Also. His head was NOT that big. He squinted his eyes at Branxton playfully, feigning annoyance. Oh she wanted a desk the poor girl? "Go ahead and hang upside down in a suit, I'm surprised we're having chairs on the floor."
Oh. Meeting was starting now? Okay, he straightened up just a bit, getting ready for business and hopefully keeping himself distracted.
... also Carter particularly said that he just PEED in their suffocating workplace. Vic looked like he just swallowed a sour lemon.
Questions? Yes. Vic shot his arm up in the air making sure he looked like a kid in class, "Can we paint the tunnels in white? Fluorescent paint too, it enhances our brains to be more agitated and alert." It was impossible for him to spend hours reading and going through paperwork in this environment.
