IC Rules
Prompt: After the first day of class, once the door is shut, you're no longer welcome inside without point deduction (5 points).
Attire: School uniform wear is recommended. On active days you are permitted to wear comfortable attire. Just don't wear your pajamas to class.
Food: Make sure you've eaten prior to arrival. We don't want unwelcome guests feeding off crumbs or Peeves trying to steal it from you. If you bring food, it better be enough to share with the class or it'll be vanished from your hand.
Respect: your Professors, your peers, and more importantly, yourself. If you don't want any trouble, then don't bring or encourage it.
OOC Rules
The SSRPG & SS Site Rules apply here, so do take the time to refresh yourself or for new players to become acquainted.
Do be careful with mixing IC as OOC. IC actions are handled via my character's canon and not meant to be taken personally OOC. If a matter is OOC, you will receive a pm from me to ease any concerns.
Plagiarism (word-for-word answers / changing a couple of words from another's response) is not accepted. Always make the effort in putting the answer(s) in your own character's words (no matter how creative they come across).
If the class has already started, it's not too late, simply post as if your character had already been there (albeit quiet) all along! As long as your post doesn't say they are now arriving, it's okay.
One student character per lesson. This will ease confusion and ensures the correct house earns the appropriate class points.
Any questions & concerns you're more than welcome to contact me. I'd be more than happy to discuss!
Most importantly, have fun! You are appreciated here. =)

Canon Curriculum
The following information is for IC character's knowledge and is not meant to be taken as a strict rule, therefore subject to change. While the elective canon-wise cannot be attended until Third Year at the earliest, on the SSRPG anyone can attend Muggle Studies classes. Even those who never achieved a passing O.W.L grade. For those wanting to have their character attend Muggle Studies early or as a prep course as their canon, see the "All Years" category.
First & Second Years: N/A. See All Years.
Third Years: Basic Electricity concept & practice (ie. pickle light bulb experiment). Famous Muggles & Pop Culture. Essays involving Muggle inventors and their wizarding counterparts.
Fourth Years: Monthly O.W.L Prep Courses. Muggle European History. Muggle Currency and Conversions. Essays involve theories and Muggle Inventions that should convert to the wizarding world.
Fifth Years: First semester, projects on muggle inventions. Creating your own invention for Muggles. Second semester, O.W.L Friday review days on topics from previous years and famous Muggles & Squibs. The semester of essays and practice tests leading to O.W.L's examination.
Sixth Years: Monthly N.E.W.T Prep Courses. Blueprinting concept on major muggle to wizard invention conversion. Muggle-Wizard Relations and simulation. Career Opportunity Lectures.
Seventh Years: Long-term assignment on forming a business with a new invention or internship prospects. Muggle Economics & Financing. Business modeling to patent at least one invention by end of term or choice of career planning. Weekly review days on earlier year topics and Wizards who converted muggle inventions for wizards.
All Years: SS canon lessons. (Re)Introduction to Muggle concepts and items, including art. Activity-based courses with items. Free for all to attend including first, second years, and those not meeting O.W.L requirements. Older years would attend as prep, extra credit, or recreational time.
Career Planning: Schedule a meeting with Feirgrund for career opportunities and guidance as early as fifth year if interested in Muggles and/or Healer Studies.
Points Value
Per Lesson you may earn up to 40 points! However, this can only be awarded for one of your student characters, so choose wisely on who will attend. The following is how the points are typically broken down. Depending on classroom format, the points will be adjusted to distribute 40 points maximum equally.
Arrival / Greeting: Posting at the beginning prior to lesson starting earns you 4 points.
Question(s): Character answering / thinking of the question(s). 8 points possible.
A1: Practice & Mini-Activity. 1-2 posts minimum for up to 10 points.
A2: Main Activity. 1-3 posts for up to 18 points.
That's it! 4+8+10+18 = 40 for all the minimum posts completed.

Long-term Assignment: Term 65
• HuffleStud • Knight of The Zodiac • Manly Beard-Grower • Cicatrice de Harry •
Canon Details
Long-term assignments formed by Professor Feirgrund are opportunities to get further acquainted with muggle artifacts and technology. Depending on the term's topic, students would be spending most of their lessons learning how the specified device works before making use of it in their spare time.
For Term 65, students would be acquainted with watching VHS tapes on the VCR machine and TV display. The students would then be allowed to watch a movie with themselves, a partner, or in a group after full knowledge on how to work the machine. The choice of movie is provided in the following guidelines along with the canon information their student would have learned about prior to activity.
SPOILER!!: Term 65: Information
The VCR (short for: videocassette recorder) is a device used by muggles to record video footage that includes the audio displayed through the television. Muggles in the late 20th century often recorded broadcasts of movies and shows in advance if they had another obligation that would conflict with the scheduling of the movies/shows. The footage would be recorded onto a VHS (short for Video Home System) tape that held up to 2 hours worth of footage.
The VCR had the capability to playback the recorded footage near the same quality with the "Rewind" feature. The buttons on the VCR displayed with symbols indicating Start, Stop, Rewind, Fast-forward and Record. VCRs could even playback footage recorded from devices other than TVs such as video cameras from inspiring and professional film makers and families that recorded footage of each other for memories. Similar to how we have moving pictures and portraits.
In the first decade of the 21st century the use of VCRs diminished with DVD and Blu-ray players surpassing in terms of quality and amount of storage. Devices that allowed users to convert VHS footage onto newer formats further eradicated the use for VCRs.
Pros:
- Preservation of footage recorded.
- Can re-watch and experience footage over time.
- Being able to schedule footage to record in advance and watch later.
Cons:
- Quality of recorded footage deteriorates over time.
- Be Kind and Rewind. Tapes needed time to be rewinded after each viewing.
- Had the tendency to fail, with rejecting or destroying tapes. Usually requiring trial and error before accepting the tape.
OOC Details:
Before posting in the sign-in thread be sure the movie meets all guidelines.
SPOILER!!: Movie Guidelines
+ Movie must follow the equivalent of a PG Rating or less (applies to all ages)
+ Themes and topics discussed from movie must align with SS Rule Guidelines.
+ Movies must have a VHS copy available
+ Foreign-language films are okay if they have English subtitles on display while viewing
+ Sorry, no Harry Potter or Wizarding World movies to avoid conflict
+ If unsure, you can PM me for Movie approval in advance.
One student per user can sign-up as early as 6th September 2023 with the venue opening 21st September 2023.
As soon as venue opens, you must sign-in prior to posting in order to receive credit.
Can sign-in and roleplay with more than one user. This could be in the form of a date or friends outing in a small group.
You're not required to own a VCR, VHS tape, or any technical equipment to participate.
There is no limit to the number of posts in which the movie is being watched.
Posts must consist of the student(s) entering, getting acquainted with the VCR, any issues encountered with the VHS tape being solved, discussion/thoughts of the movie taking place, leaving venue as clean as upon entry. Remembering to rewind before returning the tape.
Each student can be awarded up to 40 points. Full points will be awarded to characters completing the movie.
Points will still be awarded even if role plays have not been completed by the deadline.
Please do not take frustration out on the machine. It's been charmed to withstand the harshest of spells but will not take any form of vandalism without alerting Professor with the siren alert.
This assignment will remain open until 20th November 2023 giving time for grading and points delivery.
