The Seating Area Right as you exit the areas set aside for the main buffet, the juice bar, and the dessert bar, you'll come into a section filled with enough tables and chairs to accommodate the large number of employees working at the Ministry of Magic. There's really nothing special here. The tables and chairs are typical of those you'd find in any other cafeteria, with the exception of the multi-colored theme that seems fairly evident throughout the food court. So grab a chair; a red one, blue one, yellow one...whichever you'd like! Enjoy your meal, and please--come again! |
Simon / Khat On her second day on her new job Sophie broadened her exploration to the other levels. She had her beeper with her so if there was an emergency or a scene of crime that needed her skills she could leave at a moment's notice. Pushing up the strap on the bag she was carrying Sophie walked into the Food Court that her boss Aron had mentioned at the Garden Party. Crossing over to the buffet table she helped herself to a tray consisting of a Caesar salad, bread sticks, and a big glass of pumpkin juice. It was pretty remarkable that she still loved pumpkin juice after first drinking it in her school days and she was now 28 years old. Choosing a table at random with orange chairs she sat first her tray and then her bag. Taking a seat Sophie pulled out the paperback she had picked up at the book store on her way home from work the previous day and started to read. |

As he turned with his tray and walked towards the tables in the main seating area he spotted a few people taking their lunch break already. One in particular stood out and as Simon moved closer he understood why. "Sophie! What a surprise..." he said as he came to her table. "Mind if I join you?" |

Sophie was about to start reading the second chapter of her paperback romance novel when a voice said her name. Raising her brown eyes Sophie instantly beamed "Good day Simon!" Slipping a book mark into her book she closed it and shook her head as she gestured to the seat opposite her. "Not at all, have a seat! I was actually thinking of seeking you out later this week for a chat. This is much better." Definitely! If she had gone to his level they would probably have been interrupted. |
Quote:
"So you are working at the Ministry now?" he inquired, placing a napkin on his lap in case of spills. Had she mentioned thinking about it the last time they had run into each other? |

Her face cracking up into a beam Sophie said excitedly "Yes I am. I work in Accidents and Catastrophes as a member of the potion accident response team. I hope I'll get called out to my first case soon. I'm eager to get some hands on experience." Simon would understand she was sure. Auror’s were called out too. "Are there any special places in the ministry that I should check out when I’ve got a break?" |
Amy was enjoying a quiet lunch break away from the daycare. It was nice to get out of her department while staying on the level at the same time. Eat some proper food, instead of simple snacks she could get from her cupboard. Make some new friends. Most of the times she was tending to the children at the nursery, and they made good friends too. The new employee spared some time to come to the food court at the end of her first week. She decided that she had done a good job so far and could enjoy herself as a treat. The quiet lunch time was pleasant but as Amy took a bite of her pie, she wished for company she could talk to. |

Even though the nineteen-year-old wanted someone to join her for the break, she could not help but be surprised as the woman she noticed just now approached her. "No," Amy said, "please take a seat." She moved her plate slightly to make space for the other woman. |

Getting up from her seat, she went to go get a Pumpkin Juice and sat back down and asked, "Sorry for talking so much but what is your name? You do look familiar though. Did we meet at that garden party back then." she chuckled taking a sip of her pumpkin juice and trying to be quiet and let the girl speak. |

"Hello Jasmine," she greeted. Accidents and catastophes. That was probably the place where charms and potions were developed. She also believed that memory erasing - the job Amy considered the most important one of them all - was also part of that department. "I am in the Specialty area, on this very level." She said, pointing downwards slightly. "I am new around the department and ministry too. I guess finding your way to someplace when you are new is very difficult, though I had no trouble getting to the food court because this was the first place older employees told me to visit." Amy grinned at this. "Sure," she said, taking another big bite of her pie. Talking made her hungrier, not to mention thirst. She was drinking her coffee when Jasmine returned with her Pumpkin juice. "Oh yes, I'm Amy." She raised her eyebrows, not believing that she forgot to introduce herself. "Yes, I think we did meet then. Were you at the food marquee on the day?" Amy set her coffee down and thought about when she had met Jasmine. |
SPOILER!!: Sophie Simon nodded in understanding. The offices could get crazy with the amount of people stuck in one place for any one time. A mix of the quiet like himself or the not so quiet like Sophie's collegues. The auror office had certainly gotten an upswing of drama in the latest hiring. "Technically yeah, though they also have me working with security as well." It was a crazy balance but it worked for him. "And got roped into department liaison as one of the senior experienced members."Simon tentatively added the last as he tended to feel like he was boasting when telling all he did. Accidents and Catastrophes. Just one level away. He made a mental note so he knew where he had familiar acquaintances around the ministry. Friendly faces could come in handy at times. "Ah...so you're under Aron. I used to work with him when he was MLE before becoming department head. Good man." So in case she had any questions on her boss, she really needn't worry. "Well there's a technology lab up on Level One...and a coffee place down on Level Ten." Both he kinda only knew because of his rounds, it wasn't like a non-coffee drinker was going to spend much time around the latter. |
SPOILER!!: Amy! :D Oooh she met someone who was new to the department. Well that was great because she was also in the same boat. She was in the Speciality Department? That was pretty cool. "What job do you have in the Speciality Department?" she asked. She was just curious is all. Jasmine chuckled at her sense of humor and nodded. "Yes I see we had no problem finding the food court. I mean the smells would just lead me here anyways.." she joked with a wink. As she came back, she finally knew her name. "Ahh nice to meet you Amy." she smiled warmly. Oh! Whew! She did meet her there, I mean granted she did meet soo many people at that event. She was glad she remembered meeting some people from there. "I was at the food marquee on that day. You are very right. I guess I wasn't hard to miss huh?" she joked a bit too. "I think the ministry should have events like that more often. I love dressing up and catching up with people.." she smiled. Plus she was born to dress and entertain thanks to her mother. |
Text Cut: Simon "Do you like working with security or do you prefer auroring?" Sophie asked before she stuck a forkful of salad into her mouth. Chewing her salad down she continued to voice her trail of thought to Simon. "I guess our paths might cross professionally then since I will be called out to chemical spill accidents and scenes of crime just like you will be." The thought of that was exciting, slightly scary and fun. She'd get to do something important. Eyes growing big in surprise Sophie smiled broadly as she impulsively reached over the table and gave Simon a hug. "Congratulations to the liaison appointment! I’m sure you’ll make your department head proud." Not that Sophie was exactly aware who ran Simon’s department. She knew it was a woman though from reading the daily prophet. "Aron is an interesting man. I haven't really gotten to know him that well yet though." It was reassuring to know that Simon liked him though. Sophie furrowed her brows thoughtfully. "A technology lab sounds cool. The coffee place not so much. If I drink too much coffee I won’t able to sleep at night." It left her too geared up. |

She laughed at the joke. "Yes, I understand what you mean. The smell is definitely pleasant." Jasmine seemed like a friendly person with a good sense of humor. Amy did meet her in the food marquee! "You were very approaching that day." She commented, thinking back to when she was getting food in the line. "I agree with you. Dressing up and getting to know more people is fun." Amy liked doing make-up and wearing dresses on special occasions. |
SPOILER!!: Amy <3 Aaahh she worked as a Daycare Attendant. Jasmine didn't know how people worked with other people's kids all day. "That is kind of fun right? I mean you probably don't fancy cleaning up after them and such?" she scrunched her nose up at dealing with diapers. Now it was time for her to giggle and shake her head. "No no no I do not have children of my own. In fact I am still single.." she shrugged and placed her napkin on her lap before eating. Now she was being curious of her own department. "Well I am a Charms Developer. What I do is like I test charms out and to see if they are good to use and I can create some of my own with my partner..." She smiled and had to admit her job was pretty cool. Why was she apologizing. Jasmine felt she was talking too much as well. "Oh please do not apologize. I felt like I was doing most of the talking.." she pointed to herself. "If anyone should say sorry it is me for babbling like a crazy women.." she winked and giggled a little bit. A little humor at her expense never hurt right? Jasmine smiled and nodded towards Amy. "It is very true. I love picking out new dresses and putting make up on. Also Amy are you single or do you have someone special?" she asked curiously. Maybe she hook her up with someone if she wasn't single. |
Quote:
The new employee laughed. "Please don't call yourself that. You are nothing like a crazy woman." She shook her head, and was still grinning as Jasmine continued speaking. "Um, I'm single." Amy replied. She could barely remember her last boyfriend, who had dumped her when she graduated. She had gotten over him quite quickly. "Do you know anybody who would be interested in me?" Amy raised her eyebrows. |
Quote:
Jasmine smiled and said, "Psshh we all have crazy inside of us. Some just hide it better than others." It was true though. It was how you contained your craziness that made you normal. Woaahh she met another single lady and was relieved. "Well at least I know I am not the only single lady." When she heard her question she couldn't help but snort again. "Well no guys have been interested in me yet but I will let you know soon. Once I see a guy I am a huge flirt." She wasn't gonna lie about that. "Maybe we need to go to clubs or something to get guys or walk around the streets and see if any one of them catches our eye.." she winked and took another bite of her food. |
SPOILER!!: Jasmine! :) Amy nodded. "I understand why some people do not like taking care of other people's children." Some found kids annoying, some thought them messy, and other merely did not understand the point of caring for other's children. She disagreed to all of those ideas, but had never spoken up to change their thoughts. There was a silent moment between the two women when they were both eating, Amy less hurriedly now that she had no more coffee left and she did not want to choke. "I shall take that as a 'yes', Jasmine." She said with a smile. She considered the other woman's words, chewing her pie. "Then I guess I am naturally good at concealing my craziness, because nobody has ever described me as mad." There were boys during her first few years at school who called her weird and crazy, but people said guys say that to attract attention, so she never particularly cared about them. "I am glad to know another single woman." Amy raised her eyebrows again. "I don't believe it. I can imagine at least five men chasing you around." She said, quite truthfully. "I am bad at flirting. My friends had to teach me how to flirt, but I never mastered it." She laughed. She could still remember the hours in the girls' dormitory, drawing diagrams and plans about how to talk to a boy. "I agree, and even if we don't get to find interesting guys, we still have each other." Amy grinned as she said. |
SPOILER!!: Amy <3 Jasmine chuckled and nodded. "I would take that a Yes. I will teach you don't worry." she winked and sipped her pumpkin juice some more. Jasmine laughed at Amy's humor. "Well then I guess we both have a talent at hiding our craziness. I mean it just takes time for us to unleash it right?" Jasmine smiled and was glad she met another single women too. "I am glad too at least we can go to clubs together and find attractive men." she winked. Seriously Jazz did love to party. Wait a minute Amy thought she would have men chasing after her? HA! Fat chance. She couldn't help but giggle. "Oh pleaseee...I was thinking the same thing about you. I mean you must have guys chasing after you too. I am just an awkward human being.." she laughed and joked with Amy of course. Jasmine eyes went wide and agreed with her. "I am horrible at flirting too! I mean a guy can easily tell when I like him, I just get all over him basically and won't leave him alone. I just need help in being less obvious when I like someone.." she grinned sheepishly. Jasmine smiled and was starting to like Amy more and more. "Maybe we can go out sometime this weekend?" she suggested. |
SPOILER!!: Jasmine! :) Amy smiled. "Thank you," she said with a slight bow of her head. She laughed along with Jasmine. Her laugh was contagious, with a decent sense of humor herself. "Yes, so be careful. My craziness might bounce out any moment." She put on a serious face for a second, pretending to change, then bursted into laughter again. Going to clubs together sounded good, though Amy was not sure whether that was what she really wanted. Going to parties were fun, but she was worried that she might not be able to find any attractive men, or she might get hurt because nobody was interested in her. She shook her head. "Thanks for saying that, but it is not true." She said. Even though there were guys liking her, she could not tell unless they told her, which rarely happened. The lady sighed and said, "I only wish I could be like you," she took a bite out of her pie. "I cannot approach men much. At least guys would pay attention to you if you um, won't leave him alone." Amy smiled. She felt closer and more attached to Jasmine now that they were chatting about normal things like men. "Yes, sure. I don't have much planned for the weekend." She nodded energetically. All she had to do was write to her family about her first week at her new job. "Where and when would you like to meet?" |
SPOILER!!: Amy! Oohh man her craziness might bounce out at any moment? Jasmine better be prepared. She laughed and nodded. "Alright I will warn you if your craziness is showing. Is that a deal?" she asked still laughing a bit. Even Amy's laugh was contagious and she couldn't stop. She looked around and saw people staring and she rolled her eyes. Couldn't they find anything better to do? What did she mean it was not true!? Of course it was! "What do you mean it is not true!? I do not believe that for a second!" she said pointing to her. Why did Amy wanna be like her? She gave her a quizzical look and pointed to herself. "Wait a minute you wanna be like me?" She didn't know why is all. She was awkward and such. "What I mean is like I am awkward and such.." It was a true fact like that. "Psshh please guys don't pay attention to me. I think I saw some guys over there checking you out.." she winked and pointed to them across the food court. "They weren't looking at me honey." she smirked. YAY! She wanted to go out and party this weekend. "Well I will text you when, do you use a cell phone?" she asked curiously. She knew it was a stupid question but she was in a wizarding world. They could not have them. |
The were certain benefits to staying within the Ministry during one's lunch hour...and just maybe one day Gavin would be able to find them out but for now, he still questioned his choice of coming here every now and then. It wasn't for the people--Merlin no--and it quite likely wasn't the food either but that was the least of his troubles at the moment. Time was drawing thin to get these documents into circulation and with one thing after another, it would be a miracle if he got it all done. The Senior Underscretary did his best to choose a table out of the way of others. This of course was to prevent that one mishap that had happened some time ago involving an exceptionally uncoordinated bloke and a lot of coffee on his documents. Necessary steps needed to be taken. |
Quote:
But he was very hungry and had to eat something. Naturally Tyler sought out the least populated area in the canteen to sit. And lo and behold. "Gavin?" This place was full of surprises wasn't it? |
Quote:
Not recognizing the voice at first, he glanced up from his papers with a scowl. One he hoped would be enough to force anyone to stay clear--though he'd come to the conclusion people weren't very good at reading signals and were incapable of realizing that in most if not all circumstances, he'd rather not have been conversed with. The scowl broke somewhat, giving rise to a look of surprize. "Tyler. I didn't know you'd joined the Ministry." Wasn't he still like 6? Merlin, they really were letting children into the workplace. First Mr. Bradshaw and now even Tyler. |
