| Liz's Bestie ● Helvetica ● ● Jigglypuff ● Jeff Vader Whilst watching her employees attempt to work out how to deal with the situation, Becca was shunted forward by someone who was obviously in a rush. Blue eyes rolled to the ceiling before she'd even heard the apology, but once she had, Becca realised that it was another of her employees - one who was meant to be leading some of the others, in fact. Turning to Theo, Becca frowned a little bit. Was he okay or was she going to have to help him to get into shape so he could attend emergencies?
At Theo's question for Albert, Becca's eyebrows raised. That was a little bit rude, but okay... She'd let Albert deal with that one and just observe. Her gaze kept flicking back to the people who were trying to deal with the basilisk baby and she only made a noise once Albert spoke in response to Theo and then spoke to his employees in a most impatient way. Yeah, maybe she'd talk to him later about that and how it was inappropriate to do that when they were in the middle of a situation.
The redhead found herself itching to intervene and just help the strugglers instead of watching them get berated and belittled. "Jordan, Rose, you're doing well so far. Don't give up, you can do this and I know that you can. I believe in you." This was all that new world encouragement junk that supposedly worked. Supposedly. "Theo, Albert, while I appreciate that it's highly frustrating to watch people struggle where we can do something without thinking, the only way they will learn is with patience, understanding and guidance." Yeah, so stop insulting them! "Jordan may have been a professor in his previous job, but I can't imagine that he'd have dealt with a baby basilisk in his classes, what with all of the red tape that surrounds having teenagers in your care." Surely Albert could have offered up his own opinion. Hopefully he hadn't forgotten that teaching was the first step in anyone's path to anything. Maybe they hadn't dealt with a baby basilisk before and needed serious help.

The baby hissed and stuck it's tongue out to smell the area. He knew there was food around and slithered closer. Picking up one and then the next piece until he was in the box chowing down on what they had left him.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Lola A. Second Year | Mischievous Niffler Today was promising to be a very interesting workday. As the official undercover buyer and magical trade personnel of this department, she'd been assigned this morning to buy a few illegal flying carpets - all undercover, of course. There was almost no danger involved at all, as this was something she'd done many times before.
Which was good, because the undercover buying was NOT what made today special. Today was special because she'd been assigned one of the Hogwarts interns to be her shadow as she worked. She'd never worked with students before so this should be interesting.
Any moment now her intern should show up. She'd already sent her a memo telling her what they would be doing today (it involved leaving the Ministry to go to Diagon Alley.) Dora would be pretending to be her assistant. |

I thought one of them was an ex-Professor?" Herding teenagers was harder than a baby basilisk, surely?? "Come ON guys!" Why was this coming across to be so impossible for them? "Time is ticking." And he certainly wouldn't be recommending either of them for any individual cases for a while.
They needed leadership. Not independence. Quote:

Picking up one and then the next piece until he was in the box chowing down on what they had left him. If there was somebody who made their impatience known, it would be Theophilus. It was correct to assume that the older employee also ran out of patience simply because of how this day has started. First, it was supposed to be the Director of Beast who should be helming this ghastly situation, second, DMIC messed up their reports, thirdly, the Beast people were clearly SLACKING with their jobs, and last but not the very least, he'd been very clear with his instructions and the crucial part hadn't been carried out. Mentally waving off the comment from Theophilus, Albert simply stayed quiet while he willed his dangerous temper to a simmer.
The former Durmstrang professor eyed Becca from where she stood and slowly got out of Rose's way to stand behind the crouched employee. "I am well aware of that, Becca, as my youngest son had been under the tutelage of Mr Hernandez," Of course Aramis would've reported anything and everything about his Creatures study, considering the fact that he would one day take over his place as the owner of their breeding business. "As a former student of Hogwarts and Durmstrang, I would know too as to just how limited Hogwarts can be with their...curriculum." Dark creatures and anything that was 'dark' in nature were forbidden. It was exactly why he'd begged his parents to transfer him elsewhere. To learn reality. It was too bad that his wife didn't share the same view as him, thus, Aramis found himself 'stuck' in Hogwarts. Luckily, for the young man, he can call Albert anytime to expand his horizon whenever and wherever he wanted. "Patience, understanding, and guidance...yes I do agree that these are crucial when educating someone. However," Albert made a pregnant pause and lifted a brow, while his left arm was jutted out in protest, as well as his nose slightly up in the air, "I believe my instructions from a while ago were explicitly detailed, for I have considered that they are not familiar or had direct encounters with a dark creature. Am I right, Mr Hernandez? Ms Kitridge?" They were the first respondents to the scene, therefore, they did receive his instructions. Albert casted his ice blue eyes towards the students his employees and waited for them to respond.
They could all say that they were saved by the basilisk this time around for it was following the trail of the food and into the steel box. "Swiftly now, Ms Kitridge. Seal the damned box." Just a bit more and they can all go and deal with it once and for all.
Perhaps if they just listened to him from earlier, this would have been less embarrassing for them all.

| *drops open post and runs* Mrs. Alex Turner *asterisks user* Secret Door No one would know, given Violetta’s ever present work ethics, but things weren't exactly alright. Not that they were wrong either, it was -- odd. Yes, just that. Nothing was harming her, she didn't even have a headache and, although the workload in the IMC had increased predictably with the arrival of a new Department Head,it didn't bother her at all. No,what was puzzling Violetta Carden that day as she carefully walked down the steps, work files held tightly against her chest, was something far less important.
Her hair was getting darker. And she was pretty sure she hadn't accidentally taking a hair colour changing potion. But not only was the platinum blonde gone, replaced with a light caramel, she was pretty sure parts of it looked even darker, too.
But. The latest immigration figures were still needed and she had correspondence to file and archive and maybe even answer. Her Croatian counterpart really wasn't all that pleasant. So she continued on, making her way across the stairs, silently cursing in Mermish whenever someone bumped into her. Oh! Look at that! Were those moths?? |

| for Violetta *randomly tagged* | Norbert(a) | The Wandmaker (tm) Things had been busy since the staff meeting. Conley was still trying to find his footing on the rocking ship that was the IMC department. He was hoping that the storms would cool and that his staff would come to accept him. They hadn't done anything per-say that was...unwelcoming, but they still hadn't been...welcoming. He wasn't really sure how to explain it. It was at times like these when he missed his wife. She had always known how to explain that which failed him.
The stairs were crowded today. He wondered why as he made his way slowly up from level 4 to 5. Perhaps the lifts weren't working. Perhaps, like him, people just wanted to get in some exercise. Plus, Conley hated lifts. Too enclosed. Too easy to get trapped in.
People passed him. Some he knew by name, some he knew by sight, but most he didn't know at all. Conley really needed to get out and meet people... Quote:

"Beg your pardon," he said politely and then stopped on the stairs turning to follow the young lady's movements. "Violetta, was it?" he asked uncertainly. For the young lady sure looked different from the last time he had spoken with her.

"Violetta, was it?" he asked uncertainly. For the young lady sure looked different from the last time he had spoken with her. Personally, Violetta didn't appreciate the feeling of the charmed memos hovering above her head while she was in an elevator. There might have also been an incident involving an elevator door opening, a sharp memo flying out too fast and Violetta Carden herself getting scared it'd poke her in the eye and dodging it, crashing into the French Minister's entourage. Not dignified at all and, for someone who valued professionalism, not something she could just get past.
She waved a hand about at the apology, dismissing it at once. While she didn't much care for rude behaviour in her daily life, at work some haste was necessary; they had all places to be and things to do. Well. Almost all. She could think of a few people in various departments who really didn't seem to do anything.
But really, those moths circling the light. She couldn't get her mind off of them. Like she couldn't forget they were there when she had never even noticed them before. So that was probably why it took her longer than necessary to realise that the person was 1. talking to her and 2. her department head. "Oh!" Turning back to him, she clutched the files tighter. "Violetta yes, Mister Phora." She couldn't call him Conley, he was her boss. Even if he had been below her in the hierarchy (a hard feat, to be sure), she would've been hard-pressed to call him by his first name. Which was probably why she tilted her head as she looked at him. "Violetta Carden, sir." Just in case he didn't remember her last name. Hm. She turned fully to him, turning her back on the moths. "Can I help you with anything, sir? I was about to take these files to your desk." Or his secretary's desk. Whichever. |

It was something he noted a lot of employees did around here. Perhaps it was because his coworkers felt invisible or unimportant. The idea made him sad. He hoped his department didn’t feel that way. Perhaps he should set up lunch meetings with his employees in order to better get to know them…
He flashed a shy smile. ”No,” he said in response to her question. He hadn’t needed anything. He was just trying to be friendly. ”I can take those now,” he offered holding out a hand to take the files. ”Save you a trip. I’m sure you’ve other things to do. And if not,” he said conspiratorially in an attempt to make the young lady smile. ”Take the opportunity to take a short coffee break.”
The exchange allowed him a moment to evaluate the young lady. Violetta certainly looked different. At the staff meeting the young lady had looked happier and her hair certainly had looked blonder. ”Something looks different about you,” his eyebrows pulled together slightly, causing a small crease to form on Conley’s forhead. ”Did you change your hair?”

At the staff meeting the young lady had looked happier and her hair certainly had looked blonder. ”Something looks different about you,” his eyebrows pulled together slightly, causing a small crease to form on Conley’s forhead. ”Did you change your hair?” If Violetta knew what was going through her boss' mind, she definitely would've laughed. Not in an amused way either, but more flabbergastered than anything. Truth was, all her male role models had been strict and unapproachable -- a fact that made her absolutely relaxed about approaching anyone at all. If one had to deal with the Carden males during all their life, the French Embassador or the Minister of Magic really weren't challenges. Therefore, she wasn't particularly warm or friendly. A little bit of their coldness had rubbed off; Mother usually said it came with the name.
And she definitely didn't smile. Or took inappropriate breaks even if her own boss was suggesting them.
Handing him the files, she shook her head politely. Just because she wasn't one for polite smiles and small talk, didn't mean she was anything but perfectly polite and respectful. "Thank you, sir." She did appreciate the efficiency he so clearly demonstrated, though. A little too eager he could be, but she had no complaints as far as work went. "That's alright. The Croatian Ministry is demanding those figures, I still need to hunt down the files." Tilting her head, she regarded him curiously. "Unless ... you would like company on a coffee break?" Networking was always important, after all. And, weirdly, she wondered if he wasn't feeling ... lonely.
Hm.
Something was definitely up with her. "Oh!" Running her hands through a few strands of her hair as soon as he mentioned it, Violetta frowned a little. "No. Not intentionally, at least. It seems to be --- changing colour on its own." Without anything on her hands now, she did feel rather awkward standing here. Small talk really wasn't for her, no matter how much she tried to get better at it. "Human nature continues to be surprising, I guess." |

| *randomly tagged* | Norbert(a) | The Wandmaker (tm) ”No, I’m off to a meeting,” he replied in response to her asking if he had wanted company for a cup of coffee. [b]”Transportation’s has been experiencing issues with flying carpets it seems.” He took the files from Violette and then flipped through them for a moment. His attention lingered on the paperwork for Warner McCarthy a moment. He closed the files then gave Violetta his full attention again. Clearly she wasn’t going to take him up on the offer of taking a small break. The boss in him was happy to see she wasn’t one to slack off. “Rain check though.”
Hair chaning color on it’s own. Didn’t that mean that one was usually turning gray? Conley had better manners then to ask a lady that question. ”Well,” he said tapping the files against his thigh. ”The color suits you,” Something about the darker color seemed to fit the young lady’s personality. He wasn’t quite certain about the implications of her human nature comment, but then women were a mystery that Conley expected he would never unravel. A tight-lipped smile crossed his face. ”If you’ll excuse me,” He turned to go, then turned back. ”Actually,” he scratched his head a moment. ”If you are heading back to the office, could you please let Katja know that I need to speak with her when I return to the office. The issue with Transportation shouldn’t take too long.”
