Nearly ten years and here she was on the pitch again. It was no surprise to her that he was here, she always found herself down here when she wanted to clear her mind. Back to her outfit, wear this attire wasn't the greatest choice for Quidditch but she knew that she could still win. "Even though I'm wearing a skirt and heels I can totally kick your butt." Talullah grinned and giggled a little. She totally had this. She just needed her broom. "Accio Firebolt Supreme." her broom was so much better than his but then again she needed the best of the best. Talullah waited for her broom and caught it when it came to her.
"You're good at blocking?"
Lucas smirked. "Are you sure about that? Don't forget that I helped coach the Brazilian National team.'' Which meant he had to be REALLY good at that. He had stuck at coaching because teaching had been his other passion, aside from Quidditch in general. In no way did he underestimate Tallie, having heard about her Quidditch accomplishments. He already knew how good she was and he also know what a competition she would put up.
She was already impressing him with her broom but Lucas had faith in himself and his trusty Firebolt. As they waited, Lucas surveyed the pitch, looking for a free spot for them to have their little match. "Yeah, I am. I liked playing Keeper and Chaser positions more than any other.'' He looked back towards Tallie. "How are we going to do this? Whoever scores the most will be the winner?'' He had the balls in a crate tucked under his arm but hadn't actually worked out a plan for their game. He figured they could be spontaneous.

The woman nodded to him. That sounded like a good idea to her. "I like that idea. But we need a high score to set or beat." Now what if they tied? Nah! She wasn't going to bring that up because that wasn't going to be happening.

"Come on, one has to be full of them self when playing for the pros." It was true, who actually liked someone that wasn't actually full of themselves? It made for a boring little spat after the match. "Trust me there is no deflating my ego....I've tried." She smiled with a little chuckle. She remembered when she tried to do that but it only made matters worse. "Well I used to deal with that when both the manger and the coach got sick of dealing with the young new players. So I know that side of your job." She didn't mind training the newer players but man there were some that just wanted the fame and when the manger of her team found that out she would fire the players and choose someone that actually cared about the game and not the fame.
"Deal." the blonde smiled. "But just to let you know I'm so going to win." She narrowed her hazel eyes and looked at him. "So, I hope you don't mind taking Brody and I out." Tallie giggled. Perhaps all you needed was to suffer defeat at my hands.'' Tallie knew all about what coaching was all about, eh? There was just no getting around her and Lucas knew when to accept defeat. "Okay then, Tallie,'' he said with another laugh. "You win.''
His new friend... she was so competitive! The man liked this about her. It gave him the feeling of being back among all of the competition that students and pro players exuded. "If you say so, Tallie,'' he stated with an air of one being unconcerned. He mounted his broom, their quaffle tucked safely under his arm. "Ready to shake hands with defeat?'' Lucas waved at her then zoomed upwards, leaving her behind.

Her patrolling couldn't have come at a better time. Another minute stuck at her desk reviewing case files and she might have blown a vessel in the head. It was hard focusing on papers after spending the majority of the night before organizing them and a bit of fresh air could do wonders. Like now, strolling down London's street hoping something went wrong.
As an enforcer of the law it was always good form to hope for the best and keep all public mishaps in check but...that was boring--it meant they were doing a bang up job, but still boring. It was as if all the dark wizards had migrated or simply gone on vacation without giving adequate notice. Just look, she'd made it all the way to the quidditch pitch in the heart of London without so much as a pick pocket.
Perhaps the issue was taking the wrong route to get here but she'd never know now.
Already here, the Auror saw no harm in taking a closer look. Her lunch break was fast approaching and if she was lucky, she might catch a team practising...or a nap. Merlin was she tired.

It was a nice enough day, so Benjy had taken an early lunch break from the skate shop and headed vaguely towards the local quidditch pitch with the idea of squeezing in half hour or so of cross-training before meeting up with Char for lunch. Per his usual form of transport, he was on four wheels - though, if possible, his skating style looked even more relaxed than usual, and he wasn't looking for a curb to jump, or doing tricks to show off.
Seeing a familiar face in front of him, he jumped off the board lightly, and kicked it up into his hand as he easily caught up with her. "Alexa Cambridge. Aren't you meant to be behind a desk somewhere?" he asked with a grin. Did they even try to make her do that? He couldn't see it.

Lex had heard the sound of wheels against the pavement and in a split second had decided it wasn't a threat. Auror training taught you how to do that and it kept you from being overly jittery when you were on the street. That being said, constant vigilance still needed to be exercised. There was someone approaching on wheels and Alexa was acutely aware of their position at all times.
The sudden halt in the rhythmic pattern of rolling wheels followed by quickened footsteps however got her turning ever so slightly. It only took one glance for her to halt her own steps, obviously taken by pleasant surprise.
Lex pulled a face at his question, now reminded of how she spent the greater portion of the night before. "If I never see my desk again it'll be too soon. There's only so much documenting I can do before I start committing the crimes myself." It's why at somewhere around perhaps 2 am, she'd opted to leave the office in favour of anything else.
"I see you've gotten better at your stops too." Her features split into a teasing grin as she made a light jab at the first time they'd met. That....had been an interesting train ride.

He tucked the skateboard under his arm and shoved his hands in his pockets, undeterred by her vigilant reaction. He kind of expected it from an auror, even a friendly one. "Hang on, they actually try to make you do that?" He laughed, not quite being able to ever imagine Lex behind a desk when there was excitement to be had elsewhere. "I thought you'd have bribed a minion to do that sort of thing by now."
Was she making a jibe? Hadn't seen him in forever, and she goes back to the first time they met? "Well, you know...nearly 10 years of practice since will do that." And a few of those as a Pro too, but he didn't feel the need to make a thing of it.

Minions? "You mean the YATI? I wouldn't trust them to watch paint dry, let alone allow them anywhere near my case work." Sure, she'd been a YATI once; all bright eyed and bushy tailed and eager and it was for that reason that she knew for a fact she didn't want them handling anything of hers. Still new, still prone to mistakes and overlooking crucial details that could be case breakers. That was something she simply couldn't afford. "It's not all paperwork, really, just once you've gotten your baddie or have a whiff of where they might be, sometimes it requires a lot of background work so not everyday can be a field trip." Unfortunately.
Lex gave a solemn nod at his retort to her observation. It'd been a few years since they'd both graduated Hogwarts but his Ravenclaw humour was still intact. Overly literal and missing the real point. It was like that Gaia girl she'd run into--even if she hadn't, herself, gone to Hogwarts.
She began walking again, trusting he would fall into step with her like he'd done just now. "So what brings you to the Quidditch Pitch? Thought skating was more your thing." A glance forward revealed a small group making their way onto the pitch. Looks like she'd get a show afterall.

He nodded. The YATI, someone else in the department, it was all the same to him. He wasn't exactly an expert in Departmental structures in the Ministry. "Too many rookie mistakes for you? Fair enough." It was slightly surprising, but also pretty reassuring. "Any big cases recently?"
Missing the point? Ahem. The point being what, exactly?
Hands still in his pockets, he followed along with her. "Took an early lunch from the shop...figured I'd see how busy it was here, and maybe do some cross training before going to meet Char at the Ministry." Because clearly he still was skating, given the skateboard under his arm, though perhaps less obvious he was actually earning money for it. "It's good to have a change now and then." Especially with the bite safely hiding under his shirt still healing.

Her gaze was trained on those ahead of them, half hoping something would go awry but the bulk of her attention still remained on Benjy as they walked. "Wouldn't say anything too big--not since becoming a full fledged Auror anyway but when I was still a YATI, I uncovered this werewolf trafficking ring. Got to call the shots within reasons and help with the takedown. After that these idiots got themselves kidnapped in Knockturn Alley. Got to help track 'em down and return them to Hogwarts just after Christmas." That one...was less exhilarating. Left to her they'd have stayed wherever they'd been taken for thinking Knockturn Alley was the best place to play. If no one else, their parents should have warned them better.
Could have been on a million better cases but had to spend weeks combing through nothing to find children that lacked self-preservation skills and common sense.
Her company earned himself a curious look at the mention of a shop. "Oh? I didn't know you had a shop now. Reckon it must have something to do with skateboards, yeah?" She did have to ask because she also remembered him and a certain cousin having connection to wine. It was a toss up and it never hurt to be sure.
"Just patrolling. You think London would humour me for my efforts but I guess not."

He couldn't help but stop momentarily at the mention of the werewolf trafficking ring, subconsciously tugging his t-shirt down lower over his scar, before falling back in step with her. Did he need to worry about things like that? A frown briefly crossed his face, though it soon disappeared as he got back into the conversation. "Those kids? I remember seeing something about that in the paper. Must have been nice to reunite them...bet their parents were worried sick."
Assuming they were actual nice parents, and not like his mother.
He shook his head lightly at her question. "It's not my shop, I just work there part time...but yeah, it's a skate shop. It's a much more stable income than sponsorship, and pretty fun too." He got to test out the latest stuff, and help little kids get into the sport. Pretty awesome, all in all. "You ever get on a skateboard again?"

Was it nice reuniting the children? Had she felt a sense of justice prevailing and some degree of warmth knowing they were now safe and could continue on with their lives if they so desired? Not really, but Alexa had learned her lesson on this particular subject, in fact, it had nearly cost her her badge so Lex simply nodded and opted to stir the conversation in a completely different route altogether. Yes, she had an odd moral make up. Yes, she did find sympathy hard to come by. No, she wasn't in this job to become a saviour of the free world. Selfish intentions to the core, ones she'd learned to lie about if she wanted to keep working as an Auror.
Thankfully, Benjy had started talking about his shop and even asked about her skateboarding history after they'd basically parted ways. "I remember you talking about getting sponsorship and skating for a living." Vaguely but she remembered. "What'd you do when you're not at the shop?"
As for getting on a board...."My cousin tried forcing me on his when we had our get together last summer. Poor thing gave up after I promised to rearrange his face." She adored her cousin, all her cousins really but sometimes tough love was the only way. It just happened that on that day she really wasn't up for being prodded and he didn't seem to know how to take a hint.
"Reckon all your hard work's gone by now." Lex admitted, a small smile growing at the memory of him teaching her. All a hazy fog now she supposed. Pushed to the back of her mind by everything else that decided they needed to take precedence.

He assumed from her silence that it hadn't all gone swimmingly returning those children, but he was happy enough to let her move the conversation elsewhere since she had decided to let his momentary pause go. And for that he was grateful; it was still too fresh to be talking about to anyone other than family. At least, he assumed she'd noticed, since she was an auror and constant vigilance was a key part of that, no?
"Yeah, Odgen's sponsor me, as do a few other places," he confirmed with a smile. "And I do exactly that...I skate. Got on to the Pro tour couple years back." His smile spread into a grin. "Compete all round the world now." It felt pretty cool to be able to say that to Lex, actually.
His grin faltered and eventually dropped at her next admission though. She'd given up? "You didn't even humor him?" Well, that was disappointing. Surely even without practising since school she could have done a small something to placate the kid? She'd had jumps down at one point! "I'd ask if you were off duty and wanna go on mine, for old time's sake, but with that, I'm guessing not."
He looked down a moment. "So what do you do in your spare time? You met someone?"

She had noticed the faltering, the hesitation, the way he seemed if only for a moment unsure about himself and the current situation but she'd also grown into the habit of leaving things be. As a general rule of thumb, she didn't like to be poked and prodded so she left others to their own thoughts and never went out of her way to draw attention on such things. Whatever had him pausing was between him and himself. If he'd wanted her to know, he'd have at the very least blurted it out without thinking.
Besides, with the look that crossed his face, it couldn't have been anything nearly as pleasant as talking about his professional skating so she would stick to that. There was no reason the conversation needed to grow heavy. "That's absolutely brilliant!" She said, a wide grin stretching across her face. "It's what you've always wanted and you get to see so many places! How many trophies have you got now?"
Lex watched the change in his expression, noting the disappointment but it was only met with a shrug. "Dax is a big boy, he should understand no well enough." At 17, you'd think he would. Hazel eyes drifted over to the skateboard he held under his arm. Did she want another go at it? Could she remember anything at all? "I'm on lunch in the next 5 minutes or so. Reckon I could take a crack at it."
His next question, however brought her into her own reflection--both did actually. "I try not to have spare time but if I do I go places I like and places I've never been before." Wandering was slowly slipping out of the category of 'hobby' and into the category of 'bad habit she couldn't kick'. Her brows furrowed just a bit, an indication she wasn't quite sure of her next response. "I haven't...or rather I have but not in the strictest sense of it or the most conventional." At last, she gave a firm shake of her head to clear it and a shrug of feigned indifference. "I guess not."

He full on beamed at her. "It's pretty sweet, yeah." He'd been dreaming of it forever, so actually competing on a stage of that scale, and being paid to get an adrenaline rush in front of a crowd was awesome. As for trophies? "A few," he admitted. "Not as many as I'd like. I'm working on that." It wasn't all about the winning though, Lex. Given his Mum had poisoned him for even trying to qualify for the pro tour, he was just thrilled to be a part of it. "There's an event in London next month if you wanted to come along."
Dax? He was sure he recognised the name from Lex talking about him at school, which probably meant the kid wasn't so little. He returned the shrug, still disappointed although he really had no right to be. He just thought she actually enjoyed skating with him at school. "Only if you want to. I reckon you could still throw out an ollie or two. They say it's like riding a bike."
Not that he'd ever ridden a bike to know. He assumed she'd at least get the reference though.
He dropped his hand from his pocket, and rubbed his tattooed wedding ring thoughtfully. "What you hiding from?" A bit direct, perhaps, but there had to be something. This was Lex. Why wouldn't she want spare time? Why else would she circle the question like that?

Yeah...she bet something like that would have been epic. Skating in itself was a thrill and it kept your heart pumping at just the right rate. It was kinda like how she used to view Quidditch before they went and banned it. Now that was what what her job was for her...so long as she wasn't stuck on desk duty or babysitting the lockups. Next month? "I wasn't planning to be in London but I can swing it." The more she thought about it, the more doable it became and the wider a smile spread across her face. "Yeah....yeah I'll be there! Just gimme a time and a venue when you get them." If the timing worked just right she might have even been able to drag Fox along.
"Is it?" She asked, shooting him a curious look at the comparison. She'd had a bike, used to ride with her friends all the time when she was younger but she didn't think it could be compared to riding a skateboard. "We'll see what happens after I get back on that thing." She had no doubt it'd be fun but she wasn't trying to break anything before she got back to the office. Imagine having to explain that to Legend. Desk duty for life. Reckless. Careless. Not serious enough. Yeah...she could hear it already.
And Benjy was on a roll with his own questions it seemed. Lex glanced over at him. Hiding? Huh. She hadn't necessarily thought of it that way before...Hiding. It was entirely accurate she supposed...but...didn't sound nearly as alright aloud. "Nothing." She decided. "What makes you think I am?"

She'd come? He returned her smile easily, glad he'd mentioned it. "I'll get you some tickets. They're setting up this temporary ramp in Trafalgar Square, crazy design...should be pretty awesome." There was nothing like performing in front of a home crowd, right? Even better when that crowd had good friends in it. "Been working on a couple of new tricks for it."
He shrugged. "No idea...never ridden a bike, and never stayed off a skateboard long enough to test the sentiment of the analogy either." He'd been skateboarding for as long as he could remember. Benjy dropped the board on the floor, and nudged with his foot in her direction. "You won't know unless you try though. Promise I'll conjure cushioning for you if go over." He couldn't have her seeming too reckless to her boss-person now, could he?
Nothing? He didn't, for one single second, believe her. "One? Not wanting spare time...that implies working all hours, which is definitely not the Lex I know. Two? You were always straight talking...black and white. Not whatever that answer was. It reeks of something being up." He wasn't completely oblivious, especially about someone he considered a close friend. Plus he tried the running away from problems thing multiple times. It wasn't too big a step to realise she was avoiding something.

"That sounds brilliant!" Lex decided, already trying to imagine a large ramp in that area. It would certainly change the look of the place, maybe even for the better. "I think I might actually take my little sister. Dad's always saying she needs to get out more and I don't think it's something she sees everyday." So inviting them both then and they could all go for food later. Lookit that, and here she thought she'd have had to leave the country to have a marginally good time. "Anything you can show me now?" Sneak peak? "Promise to still look as surprised and awed later."
Her eyes widened just a little at his confession. "Never? Not even once?? Oh Merlin!" It wasn't until the afterthought hit that she realized not everyone's parents had any interest in Muggles or tried raising them like one...but skateboarding...was arguably just as 'Muggle', wasn't it? She watched the board being rolled over to her but rolled it right back shortly after. "How's about you gimme a demonstration to refresh my memory first?" Please? It might help her not feel so...lost.
Lex was only somewhat surprised to find that his reasoning behind his allegation was solid. Benjy had always been a smart cookie. Picked up on things fairly quickly. "The Lex you know likes adventures and danger. When my job provides that, I don't mind working later than required because it's for my own enjoyment." That was a perk of having a job you liked. The urge to leave wasn't nearly as strong. There did, however, come a pause before she tried explaining away the second. Looking back, it hadn't sounded very black and white at all..."I think I was working that one out aloud. I have met someone--but not in the way you mean it, see?" That was how it made sense to her. "Reckon you mean someone I consider special who I'm going steady with and like sharing my time but it's not like that. Not really." Was he starting to see why even she couldn't make this black or white? "We're not together, not like that."

Oh, it'd be more than just a ramp. There'd be several ramps, some grind rails, and maybe even a halfpipe. He was pretty excited to see the final design and start planning his runs. "So, two tickets then?" he confirmed. "I can probably get you backstage access too, if you want. Give your sister the full experience. Char can look after you whilst I'm warming up and doing my stuff." As for something now though? He bit his lip. "I'd love to...I'm just not meant to go too crazy just now." Healers orders. "I could maybe do something on that handrail though."
When exactly was he supposed to have ridden a bicycle, Lex? He shook his head. "Never. Didn't really ever take my fancy, and it's kinda hard to hide a bike at home." A skateboard fitted under the bed, after all. "Can you ride one? You could teach me if you wanted." He was willing to give it a shot. And hello again skateboard. He sighed, rolling it back and forth under his foot for a few moments. "You're not gonna get on it unless I do, are you?" Fine. He'd demo for her, though after they'd got to the bottom of whatever she was avoiding.
"The Lex I know? What about...the one standing in front of me?" He turned to face her, taking a moment to look her up and down, still not convinced. "You can't have danger and adventures all the time...you've already admitted as much to me today." There was the paperwork too. He would let the second bit slide though. "I don't believe I specified whether they needed to be significant in a particular way, but I concede that point at least."
"I'm here if you wanna talk about anything. I won't judge." Never had.

Backstage access too? "She'll love that." Lex decided, though whether Jessa really would appreciate it all was something she didn't actually know. The girl was a strange little thing. Liked walking around with her nose in books reading anything she could about magic. It was still to be seen whether she actually liked more action packed things but there was no time like the present to expose her to new things. "You know me though, I won't need any looking after. We can hang with her but you don't have to worry, I'm a big girl." And a cheeky grin to boot. Honestly Benjy, when had she ever needed a babysitter?
"I can teach you to ride a bike too whenever you've got the time but...why would you have needed to hide it under a bed?" It was such a curious thought that it actually had her brows knitting together in wonder. He was perfectly right, one couldn't just fit a bike under a bed without magic but that...wasn't where you kept bikes in the first place.
As for the Lex he knew. "She's standing right here, with a new appreciation for different kinds of work and being kept busy." Granted, she'd always thought it was better to be kept busy but back then it was more easily achieved at more subtle levels. Running around the castle, blowing things up, forever chasing her kneazle, drawing on portraits. All methods of keeping herself outside her mind but no one thought much of such things when they were done by someone who was naturally hyperactive. Benjy had simply never noticed. "My job can't always provide it but I find other things that will too when it becomes unbearable."
Lex smiled at his offer, knowing he meant well. "I know, but it's nothing to worry about, really." Mostly for the fact she would never admit she had a problem to begin with but also because it would kill her to burden others with the trivial things that kept her up most nights.

He grinned. "Awesome, I'll see what I can do. Might be able to get you some freebies from the sponsors too." They often had stuff to hand out - free samples, lanyards, clothes all sorts of things. Though whether Lex would want her little sister trying a sample from his own sponsor, Ogden's finest, he wasn't entirely sure. "You saying my wife isn't cool enough for you, Lex?" He nudged her gently with his elbow. Yeah, he supposed that was his other big news, if she hadn't already noticed his tattooed wedding ring with his own initials entwined with Char's. "Don't worry, she won't try to babysit you."
She'd teach him to ride? "I'd like that." Just maybe it'd be better to wait until after the competition, and the thing at the end of the month. "Clarissa would have never condoned it." He shrugged matter-of-factly, Clarissa being how he now referred to his mother. "Bet Dad and I would have had a blast...we used to go surfing back in the day, but yeah..." The skateboard moved idly back and forth under his foot. "She'd have only destroyed it." And his allowance had been tight enough taking that risk for something he didn't know he would be able to ride was was stupid.
A 'new appreciation'? Benjy raised an inquisitive eyebrow. He was convinced there was something else there, but if he was honest to himself, he couldn't ever see her admitting it. And if she did, it'd only be when one of them, if not both, was caught off guard. "Fine." She wasn't the only one with problems, he'd had his own fair few in the years since he'd graduated. But he'd also learnt in that time to read between the lines better, so he dropped it and moved the conversation elsewhere.
"So, what's it gonna take for you to get back on a skateboard then, hmm?"

Benton headed to the quidditch pitch. He had his broom in hand. Once his mom had dropped him off he quickly ran toward it. He hadn't been late so that was good, but he knew Henry would be here and he felt maybe he needed to fly a bit before the best friend came. Henry was now on the U17 league and that meant he was super good and Benton only played for fun so not as good. Either way this was going to be fun.
Jumping on his broom he started making laps. Maybe other kids would come and they could make a game out of it. Wouldn't that be cool? He should have asked Cassie about coming, but he didn't think about it until now. Though she might not be ready for an actual game. Flying a few figure eights and zooming back and forth he pretended he had a quaffle in his hand and pretend shot it at the goals.

Vanessa decided to use her day off and head down to the pitch to see if Roarke was around. She hadn't seen him in almost a week and somehow she missed him more than maybe she should.... but then again, he was the only boy to make her feel special.. So with high hopes she got there and saw not her Boyfriend, but a younger kids flying patterns in mock action.. she kind of laughed seeing him cheering himself on as if he were playing in the World cup Finals..
She called up to him , " OI!!!!! Nice flying... " and jumped on her broom to meet him...
coming to a spectacularly flurishing stop next to him, " Hey... you're not half bad at those manuevers... " Smiling, " I'm Vanessa... what's your name , Kid? '
