Morgan P. Nickles EraAll historical records pertaining to Ministry of Magic RPG under Minister for Magic, Morgan P. Nickles [IC January 2094 - December 2096; OOC October 2017 - October 2018]
Elliot Lupin--not Morganzo, as she often mistakenly did to the annoyance her husband--had done..a lot of work getting to London today. Pushing the double stroller, she peered over the top, making sure both Hudson AND Felix were secure. Hudson's blonde hair was a mess today and just would NOT stay down. AND Felix, of course, looked less like Elliot the more he GREW. And she HATED it. Max's spitting image. How irritating. Hudson looked more like her and he wasn't even her SON.
Because MERLIN, had it been a trek. The apparation process was very complicated with two children. And the stroller. And klfheriuhguiqhg. She was glad she was here. And in heels, too? Yeah. Elliot felt like she was damn good at being a woman right now. Her hair was positively GLOWING in this wind. She was pretty, wasn't she? Elliot know she was....she was. She needed to look in a mirror soon juuuuust to keep her OVERSIZED ego going.
Hanny Bananny would be quiiiite soon, too, with her two little dears.
They had sure grown up quickly.
Pushing the stroller inside, she found an empty table near the counter. Elliot USED to pick window seats--but now that was just too much. She wanted to be near the counter in case of spillages--napkins were important, and especially in a muggle-filled area where she couldn't use magic OR call on Robbly to help. So now the waiting game before....Elliot didn't mind the people watching, though. Hudson was squirming to get out of the stroller, too. Unbuckling the three-year-old, she pulled him onto her lap and waited.
Felix was fast asleep. Thank Merlin.

She might have lifted her head from the table again but at the moment she didn't want to, consequently it remained there.
"I have made the choice, I made it ages ago but it's the wrong choice and regrettably I don't feel like changing it." As much as she liked pretending, even she knew it was a bad thing, made even worse by her lack of inclination to change it on her own.
"And that's hardly accurate. It's a game because she says it is, even if she's the only one playing." Alexa USED to play games with Amanda and she always won until Amanda got pregnant, then Lex realized her winning streak was over and she promptly dropped out. Dare she even bother trying to change the subject again?
No, he didn't get it. Not totally. But that was because he didn't have the full story. Pretty simple really.
And then, she went and said that. Had his thoughts not been tangled up where they were, he probably would have taken it a different way, and probably would have been able to brush it off. Roll his eyes. He'd heard it before, the jab about his 'ideal society'. From Damien, from so many people. Even from himself. But this was different. Because of where his mind was, because it was an accusation, because...
Putting his cup back on the table very deliberately, Sabel shifted himself out of the booth. "If you make a wrong choice, fix it. If someone says they're playing a game, find a way to flip the board. Your problem, is not your past. It's your damn pride, Lexi."
The slip of the tongue didn't register until after. And when it did, he felt like he had run headlong into a wall. He blinked at Alexa, once, twice, three times. Each time was the same. Same blonde hair. Same stubborn attitude. Same frown.
He gathered up his cup, his voice low and quiet. "I might have ideals, and I might believe in impossible fixes, but I never believe there is no fix. And I never give up trying to find one."
They'd talk about her training later. They'd talk about work later. For now, he had an incident report to write up. Somewhere other than here.

LexI. Always with that name, always with people putting letters where they didn't belong. There was NO 'I' in her name and what some found endearing, she found to be sinfully annoying, especially now in this context. Everything he said before that name was discarded and the fact he'd gotten up didn't register for a few more minutes.
Did she SAY her problem was her past? Did she SAY she had a problem to begin with? Hating children didn't bother her, it bothered him.
Funny how he spoke about never giving up too, after preaching to her about needing to know when it was time to quit. A contradiction, yes, but not one she felt like pointing out so she simply sat there with her head lifted once more to watch him leave.
That was how it was gonna be? Well then he should have done it sooner, back when she'd initially decided she was done trying with him. It was just as well he left considering all the failed conversations they'd been having. If each ended this badly then she was just as fine sitting alone by the window and watching people come and go. This is where she would sit until the work day was over thanks to HIM.
Rotten day this turned out to be.

Maria couldn't help but smile at the way Jared was waving at the girl. As much as the man liked to think he was suave and cool with that smirk of his, she knew better. He was really just an adorable dork on the inside.
"I thought I was your favourite." The teasing smile was still there, that was, up until he mentioned something about being older and wiser. Oh ho ho! The woman rolled her eyes before saying, "Yeah, you wish you were wiser than me." There might have been a bit of a nudge from her part. Joking, okay? She was jo-- Tell Nerissa that daddy was smarter? PSH. Yeah, right, Catter--
WELL then.
Before she could do more than open her mouth to respond, she felt his hand on her waist and his lips against hers. Her cheeks reddened and a goofy smile spread itself across her face. "How do you go from adorable to plain dorky to sarcastic to romantic in the space of a couple of seconds?" And he should do that a lot more. She wouldn't say no.
Still blushing furiously, Maria turned her attention towards Nerissa. N'aw, how adorable was she? Choclake. "Chocolate cake for the daughter and chocolate cake for the dad as well?" Green eyes on you now, mermaid lover.
Jared snorted and smirked. "Nearly." He had his hand behind Nerissa's back and fixed her bag over his shoulder as he looked at Maria. "To wish is to achieve, darling." Jared could give her a list of things he had wished for and guess what? Now he had all of them. "Isn't that what daddy always tells you, Nerissa? Yes, it is! You want something, you go get it." And the man flashed Maria a grin. "Like I did to you."Wink.
The former Ravenclaw laughed at her next comment. "Let's call it a specialty." Had been mastering these skills for many, many years now. "And there's no need to turn red." He joked, though he admited it was adorable. Did he make Maria a bit shy? Yes, he did. Haha, he loved that.
"Chocolate cake it is then." He announced. His daughter wanted it, she was going to have it. remember all that wish and achieving thing? Exactly. "Chocolate cake as well?" Jared asked Maria before he turned to the person on the counter.

Felix was fast asleep. Thank Merlin.
Two children. She had two children. One would think the shock would have worn off by now, but it hasn't. Hannah never saw herself as a kids person, but once these two beauties were brought into the world it all changed. Having twins was a challenge because it was twice the work, but-- PFFT. She was rich and had a nanny. Not to mention her house elf. Icarus was a dream too. He helped her, and merlin he was easy on the eyes.
You would never know that Hannah had twins because she looked just as fabulous as usual. Her hair was in wavy curls that fell mid back, and her make-up was on point. As far as her outfit went... when did she ever NOT look stunning? Nothing changed about her appearance. Who says you can't wear six inch heels and be a mother? Ugly people, that's who.
Iris and Henry were being just lovely in their stroller. She would expect nothing less from children that came from such an amazing blood line. As Hannah approached the cafe, she waited while someone opened the door for her before she made her way inside. There was her friend. "Elliot, my dear," she cooed as she kissed both of her cheeks. Motherhood worked for these two.

Motherhood worked for these two.
Elliot spoke with Hudson while she waited for Hannah Lockwood. She enjoyed hearing juuuust what his little three-year-old brain came up. Absolutely hysterical, he was, sometimes.
"Hudson, What is that?" she asked, pointing to the table riiiight outside, where an older woman had her dog on a leash next to her. It was a nice day outside, but Elliot liked being outside almost as much as she liked sweatpants....
Hudson squiiiiinted at the dog and put his hand over his mouth in surprise. "Ellyet--doggie--puppy--why they have puppy here? Get in trouble?" he asked, looking SO concerned for the wellfare of the dog-owner. Elliot had to laaaaaugh. "No, dear, no. They won't get into trouble. You can bring your dogs if you stay outside." she tried to explain simply. Hudson wiggled on her lap. "But Ellyet, somebody STEALED the dog?" he looked at her with wiiiide blue eyes. Elliot ruffled his hair. "Nobody will steal the dog, Huds. Promise. We can pet him when we leave if you're good." But Hudson was usually very good.
Aaaand Hannah arrived! Elliot smirked and kissed both of Hannah's cheeks back. "My HANNAH!" she cried, semi-excitedly, peeeeeking into the stroller with a grin. "They're so pretty, Hannah! As beautiful as you..." she snickered. Hudson was shyly staring at Hannah and the twins, one hand shoved in his mouth, the other waving timidly. "Hannah--you remember Hudson? Huds, this is Elliot's friend--Aunt Hannah. She met you when you were a baby..." she said softly to soothe him.
Hudson squinted up at Hannah..."Like Felix?" he looked at his little brother. Elliot nodded. "Yes...like when you were Felix's age." She honestly couldn't remember QUITE how old he had been, but that didn't matter.
"Have a SEAT, Hannah--" she grinned. "We have some catching up to doooo."

Huh. Nearly. Nearly. Maria raised her eyebrows at him before saying, "I'm going to remember that." Two can play at this game, whatever this game happened to be. "Well then you can keep dreaming that you'll be wiser than me." Not going to happen, Catter-- BLUSH! "When did you turn into such a flirt?" Because she hadn't remembered him being like this back during their Hogwarts days.
A speciality. His speciality. She would playfully hit him but he was being too adorable right now and it just wasn't fair. "Do you use this speciality of yours on all the ladies or am I just the special one?" Think about your answer carefully, mermaid lover. "You need to stop making me turn red," she said, poking her tongue out at him.
Chocolate cake for her as well? She nodded along before saying, "Chocolate cake for me as well. And maybe a cup of coffee." This was a celebration, wasn't it?

He'd had enough of the office for now. His boss was playing games in the break room and making it practically impossible to just get coffee and go back to work, everyone else seemed to be busy doing something or another and asking him questions and Charles just needed a while to think. He was sat down with a cup of coffee and a sandwich and was happily reading the newspaper at the moment.

With Xandra spending the day at the Daily Prophet with her father and the twins off playing at friends houses Sanna had the day to herself. She didn't start her new job at the ministry yet for a few days which meant that she could run errands and browse around in the Diagon Alley shops. A luxury that didn't come often with three kids.
Heading into the Peqoud bakery to get a coffee and a scone the middle-aged blond headed straight up to the counter to order and pay. With her coffee cup and scone in hand Sanna looked around for somewhere to sit. Spotting a gentleman sitting alone she headed over to him. "Hello, do you mind if I join you? Everywhere else is pretty crowded."

When a voice broke his concentration, Charles looked up and studied the woman for a moment before nodding. "Please do." he offered, more than happy to let her sit there. She seemed like the type who might just eat and drink in silence and leave him to actually take a break. He turned the page on his paper, but then looked at the woman again. He knew her face. "Have we met before?"

"Thank you." Sanna said quitley as she slipped into a vacant chair across from the man. But not before making sure that it was clean. She was not going to spoil another dress if she could help it. Sipping on her coffee she noted that he was looking at her again. Had she forgotten to clean off a toothpaste line around her mouth? She had almost pulled out her pocket-sized mirror from her purse when the gentleman stopped her asking if they had met before. "It's possible," she offered. The man was slightly familiar to her too now that Sanna regarded the gentleman's face a second time. "You've haven't happened to have attended any recent social functions for ambassadors?"

Oh, she was the quiet type. He liked quiet. So many people underestimated the value of silence. Her question had him tilting his head. "I have. I'm currently preparing for a bi-annual council meeting, too." That would tell him if this woman was of his world or not. She did look extremely familiar though. He must have seen her a few times.

Pulling her blond hair back from her face with the use of a few pins since it was ticking her, Sanna raised a brow at the gentleman in surprise. "Oh really? I'm preparing for a bi-annual council meeting of sorts too." Maybe it wasn't just coincidence that she had chosen to invade this man's privacy of all people currently visiting the bakery. Nibbling on her scone Sanna pondered out loud. "I think the meeting I'm going to attended is if i remember correctly hosted by the IWC. Does that name sound familiar?" If they both travelled in the same social circles then he'd know what organization she meant.

A small smile tickled his lips at her way of sniffing him out. "It does. I'm the ambassador-at-large and division head in international co-operation. Charles Taylor, nice to meet you." Now they both knew what was going on, it made this conversation much easier. "I've definitely seen you before. You're from one of the Nordic countries if I remember correctly?" he tilted his head, trying to work out which one.

'I'm the ambassador at large....' So that explained it. Know she understood why they recognized each other. Holding out hand for a shake she smiled back. "I'm pleased to meet you Charles. I'm Susanna Higareda, newly appointed ambassador for the Ministry of Magic." Getting the formal pleasantries out of the way always made for easier conversations. Higareda? He knew that name. "You're not related to a Gavin Higareda by any chance, are you?" Strange. Very strange. He almost choked on his coffee when she said the full name of the Ministry, but managed to keep himself quiet and clear his throat. "Um, we tend not to be so... open with names in here." he explained. "It's just a normal cafe." Yep. "Oh, I love Sweden. The views are beautiful and their food... oh, I miss the food." he sighed.

"Gavin is my husband." Sanna confirmed. "I take it that you know him then?" It seemed like an easy conclusion to draw. How Charles knew Gavin was another story. Her husband was a journalist so maybe he had interviwed Charles for an article or something? Grabbing a napkin from the napkin holster Sanna offered it to Charles to clean up any potential coffee spill as she said with a dismissive shrug. "The chatter level in here is pretty high. I highly doubt that anyone is listening in on our conversation." She saw no cause for worry.
"Where in Sweden have you been?" Sanna wondered curiously. "I miss the meatballs." she said with a small sigh.

"We've crossed paths." Heh. He was a lazy person who used to be in charge. Of course. He cleaned up his tie with the napkin and a word of thanks and then shook his head. "I exercise caution when in public, no matter how loud it is." he explained. "It's the only way to ensure that I am never the cause of any huge problems or security risks." Mhmmm. "Oh, I've spent some time in Stockholm, I've visited Kiruna, Skellefteå, I've been all over really." he shrugged. "Oh, I miss the amazing smells. Dining is more than just a necessity to the Swedish, it feels." He loved their dining etiquette a great deal more than the UK's.

"Crossed paths, as in professionally?" Sanna wondered curiously. If Charles didn’t want to share how he had met her husband Sanna would just have to ask Gavin when she was him at home later in the day. Nodding she commented. "Keeping cautious in public is wise," drinking a few sips of her coffee she asked. "Have you been the cause of any security risks in the past?" It couldn’t hurt to be informed given that she’d probably see more of Charles in the future. Reminiscing Sanna said "Stockholm is the most beautiful of those three cities with its many preserved old houses in Old Town."
"Dining is more than just eating it’s a way of socializing for Swedes and keeping up with what is going in everyone’s lives." It was a Swedish tradition.

It couldn’t hurt to be informed given that she’d probably see more of Charles in the future. Reminiscing Sanna said "Stockholm is the most beautiful of those three cities with its many preserved old houses in Old Town."
"Dining is more than just eating it’s a way of socializing for Swedes and keeping up with what is going in everyone’s lives." It was a Swedish tradition.
"He used to be my department head." he explained, trying not to show her how little he thought of the man. She obviously saw something in him. "It is." he agreed, glancing around and then sipping his own coffee. "No, because I am careful." Mhmm. "I would never put the Ministry or my job in danger because I just can't keep my mouth shut." Mhmm.
"Oh, it really is." He sighed happily. "I loved my time in Stockholm, it was... interesting." He'd never forget it for sure. "I know, it's so nice to have that time and interest. We're always so busy these days... no time for anyone." It was terrible. He'd made some of his best memories during dinner.

Sanna ate more of her scone as Charles explained how he knew Gavin. Nodding she reminisced. "We were engaged to be married back then when Gavin worked as your boss and I was employed in the Law Enforcement sector." There was no use stating that she was an Auror. It didn't have much impact on the job she was starting now. Sipping on her coffee Sanna said "That's admirable if you can keep it up. I have met many people over the years that haven't been able to keep their views to themselves." A few badly chosen words could cause problems that could turn into something much bigger if it wasn't smoothed over. Sanna knew that all too well. "Diplomacy is an art that not everyone masters.”
"Did you work during your time in Stockholm?" Sanna asked to change the subject. Humming in agreement to Charles's words she wondered. "How do the brittish do it then? Don't you have family dinners too?"

He nodded. He remembered that much about Gavin. "It's really not that hard. I strongly believe in silence." he shrugged. "Silence can fix most things." Oh yeah. "I know. I've met a few who have asked me how I do it." he shook his head. It was as simple as not running your mouth when people were trying to rile you up.
"I did." he nodded. "I had a part time job there. It gave me enough time to look around and learn the country." It also gave him the time to enjoy time with his friends. It was where he'd been happiest. "We do, they tend to be times for the family to make nasty comments about your life and career and can feel like being in the spotlight sometimes." he shrugged. "I lost my family a long time ago, though. I wouldn't know."

Sipping on her coffee Sanna nodded. "Silence can fix things, that is true but it isn't always effective." From her experience at least silence could be double ended. Sometimes it was effective other times it just made things worse. Changing the topic sort of Sanna asked "What does the title ambassador at large mean? Do you represent more than one country?" The term was a bit confusing to her. Did it mean that he was head of all ambassadors or something?
"Did you learn the Swedish language too?" Sanna wondered. It was possible considering that Charles had been working while in Sweden so he had probably been exposed to the language to some extent.
When she had asked about British food traditions she hadn’t expected to hit a sore spot with Charles. Feeling bad and sympathetic at the same time Sanna apologized. "I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to bring up bad memories for you." Hopefully Charles wasn’t longsighted.

"Most times, you can answer with just a look. Though I do agree it isn't always effective." he agreed. Oh, um, this was a bit strange to explain? "An ambassador-at-large is a diplomat of the highest rank or a minister who is accredited to represent his country internationally. Though mostly I stay in the UK, I could be asked to travel to different countries to represent the UK if there was a huge problem that one of our ambassadors couldn't represent us for." he explained, hoping that would give her the general oversight.
"I learnt as much as possible. I wouldn't say I'm fluent, but I can understand it and respond accordingly." He tried to learn something new everywhere he went.
Her apology made Charles look twice at the woman in surprise. "It's okay. You weren't to know and to be honest, no one really asks me about myself, so it was new to me." he shrugged. "Forget about it."

Nodding Sanna affirmed. "Sometimes a look could work too. It depends on the situation." You had to play every situation by ear and adjust how you tackled it accordingly. She leaned back in her chair to take long sips of her coffee as Charles explained to her what his job as ambassador at large entitled.
Pushing a few blond strands of hair out of her eyes Sanna tried to put two and two together."You have the same rank and job as a muggle prime minister of say Sweden would have but for the magical world right?" It sounded about right unless she had complicated it too much.
"That's wonderful. Do you speak more languages than English and Swedish then?" Sanna figured that that wasn’t impossible given Charles position. He had to travel internationally a lot just like she would do and not everyone across the plant spoke English.
Surprised Sanna shook her head in disbelief. "That’s sad. You seem like a nice gentleman that more people should take the time to get to know closer." She wasn’t going to forget about it. It wasn’t in her nature.
