"Pies and pastries. Flour comes from wheat, so health food. I appreciate your lifestyle." And it didn't seem to be doing her any harm. Rhys offered his cake to her for sharing. "I'm just Rhys. There are too many Tates, and it would get confusing."
"I like your rules. They should be written into law so that all have to abide by them, or at least stop giving me looks for choosing to eat my desert before my main course." She heaved a dramatic sigh that was followed by a toothy grin. Honestly though, it was HER choice what went into her mouth first. Not the rude person serving her.
She took a bite of her scone and washed it down with some of her coffee. "I like Rhys. Is that a family name or did your parents want to go for something different?" Because as cool as it sounded, Rhys was definitely out there in her book.

"Deal."
The model turned on her heels and headed towards the exit, hair flip right on cue.
Their walk had seemed concrete for Elodie, and she was certain that although Cassie was sure that she would say yes... she was also slightly unsettled that she wouldn't. She didn't have anything to worry about, of course, because Elodie was already pretty much signing a contract in her head and she didn't have any sort of regrets about it. A job was a job, and it wasn't like she'd wanted to punch the other female yet.
Which was a plus in this industry. There were many a female Els wanted to knock seven shades of soup outta.
She shifted her bag a little higher on her shoulder as they took seats at a table, and tilted her head. "Tell me more."

Cassie slipped into the seat and settled her purse on the table. She just wanted to get into it didn't she? The dark haired vixen very much liked this but first, they needed to order tea..or coffee..which she did.
"Okay well my father is the founder and CEO of Storm Industries. We create bottle and also sell fragrances..perfumes..lotions etc to different companies, celebrities and so forth..BUT.."..yes there was more.."we also bottle and sell fragrances for ourselves. Or line is Storm in a bottle." Nifty wasn't it?
"We now have a magical fragrance we'll be launching called the love potion and it's call thus because we use pheromone based scents in the concoction to entice the males when they smell it. We haven't launched it yet because we were looking for the perfect face..and you're it!" Which was perfect because she wanted this out for all the young witches to cop before they went back to school.

With coffee ordered, Elodie had a smile set on her face more than she had done previously, and she was listening most definitely to what Cassie was saying. Bottles. Fragrances. Storm. Bottles. La la la. Words, words, words. Everything was stuff she didn't want to hear, until the whole enticing of men came into play. Her smile turned into a smirk and she picked carefully at her nails as she listened.
Perfect face, huh? Sure, okay. Ego bumping was cool.
"Sounds perfect. I'm in." Yes, it really was as easy as that with her. Yes, it took only a few words to get her to agree to do something. Actually, she really just wanted something new to look forward to. "What timeframe are we talking, though? My work load will be decreasing as of September. I have university starting then." And truth be told, she didn't really want a distraction from her studies.

Aside from her pretty boyfriend, of course.
Just like that? Cassie blinked.
She needed to talk to Elodie's manager, granted she was glad that the young woman was on board but there were contracts to be signed and payments to be discussed, which should have been agreed on before the model agreed to the gig.
She smiled at her.
"I'm happy to hear that but we haven't even discussed how much we're paying you. Shouldn't that be your first concern?" As in did the woman want payments in galleons or muggle currency? Did she want payments before or after?
Time frame she could discuss however.
"I want the campaign off before the end of summer, so that's good."

Mercedes was glad she got the chance to get out of the office and have lunch with her wonderfully amazing boyfriend, Chris today. Where else would they go but to the bakery. Bakeries were kind of their own little hang out place, you know. One of the first places they were went together.
Cedes slid into one of the booths. While she waited for Chrissy to get here. She was so excited to see him. It was only a few only a few hours ago that she last seen him but it was too long for her. Plus she had something very important to tell him.

Chris strolled into the bakery. He grinned slowly when his eyes landed on his wonderful Mercedes. "Cedes!" he greeted in a near excited squeal. It had only been a few hours, but hey, he was always excited to see his girl.
He slid into the seat next to her and gave her a hug. "How's work going?"

She hugged him back and kissed his cheek, "Good. How has your day been?"

Chris made a face at the Chrissy nickname. He didn't really mind it, in fact, he kind of liked it. He just didn't want to give off that impression. He'd much rather Cedes think he was more of a guy than to openly respond to a girl-ish nickname.
"I'm great. Just, you know, class." Which was what he always did. "But I'm done for the day now." No classes to teach. Woo hoo!

Money. Money, money, money. It was the root of all evil.
"Shouldn't my first concern be the campaign and if it's something I want to be the face of? Shouldn't my first concern be choosing a brand that I like and would like to work with again? The money isn't a big thing for me. I don't need it. Pay me whatever." Was she almost begging for the job to give her something to do instead of sit at home and regret the things she shouldn't have done previously? Yes, yes she was. But Elodie didn't care, and it was clear that her attitude towards it wouldn't change in time.
She didn't care how many nice dresses she could buy.
She didn't care how many tickets she could buy to expensive galas.
Actually, she only cared about trying to make each day something that she wasn't going to hate herself for. Of course, it wasn't going so well yet, but when university started up...she was sure it would.
"That's perfect, then. I don't think I can combine a heavy promoting job on top of both History of Magic and Pre-Healer Studies." And even if she could, it would mean that her grades would slip and Elodie Rae Robertser was no failure. She was not Failodie anymore.
Having decided that he was bored with the food in the break room and food court, at least for the day, Kade ventured out of the ministry and down the street in search of lunch. He passed the restaurant and was about to turn back when he saw this little cafe.
A coffee and a croissant later, Kade was seated at one of the small tables by the wall. He had time for lunch, so he was going to enjoy it by doing absolutely nothing until he had to go back to work.

It wasn't busy in the Wizengamot these days, thankfully. Vic didn't know if he could handle the fuss that was his social life and the nerve-wracking of courts and cases at the same time. He'd always been able to keep everything under control and keep a calm attitude, but never had he ever proposed to a woman. Better yet, he'd never proposed and received a 'yes'.
So now that he did, a big load was dumped on him between wedding date and ceremony decisions, and after-wedding plans and lifestyle decisions. It was just too much, he was wondering how January was feeling about all this?? He hadn't talked to her lately, been too busy with Lucie and... stuff. He stopped short on his way into the ministry to grab a cup of coffee, that was when he spotted Fuller. He took his cup and with a friendly smile headed towards the man, "Afternoon." And flopped on the empty chair across from him with an exhausted sigh.

This was a nice little bakery, Kade had decided. He would have to bring Monique sometime and show her the place. He even considered calling her and inviting her over while he was having lunch, but... the other seat at his table was suddenly occupied. With a man.
"Hey," Kade greeted, nodding to Bones and setting his coffee down. He looked at the guy, briefly wondering why he had decided to sit with him. They weren't exactly friends or anything. Though, this was a muggle cafe and the options for company were limited if you wanted to know who you were talking to beforehand.
"How've you been?" He asked, figuring that if they were going to sit together they should probably talk or something. "...Oh, and congratulations. January told me the news."

Vic didn't notice Fuller's hesitance..? Caution...? He was too busy rubbing his face and sipping from his coffee, his mind wheels working in the background like they had always been in the past few months. "Hmm? Oh yeah, thank you. It's been really crazy ever since." He chuckled, straightened up and mussed up his hair in a nervous gesture. "I mean, I'm really lucky to have Jan say yes, but you don't expect things to get so crazy afterwards. No one warns you about that, I haven't even got her the ring." Another face rub.
Why was he even talking to her ex-boyfriend, current-bestfriend? This was supposed to feel awkward but Vic weirdly didn't feel it, he just needed another man's ears to hear what he had to say. He'd been trying to be nice and subtle with Lucie, make her feel safe and unthreatened, and he'd been trying to be man!excited and happy with Jan, but he hadn't been able to freely express his worries. With a man. His eyes looked up at Kade, trying to figure whether or not he should trust him. "What 'bout you? How're things with you?" He knew next to nothing about the man's love life... why should he open up to him yet?

... Well. Those were more words than Kade had expected would come from his simple comment. Though, he tried not to show that fact on his face. Because honestly, if it had been the other way around (and not Bones that he was talking to), he would be spitting out random information about his own engagement, too. So he just nodded and gave a not-entirely-forced smile.
"Wow. That's..." Rough? Bad? "At least it's for a good reason." There. That was civil and whatnot, right? And supportive or something? "Being dragged into planning and everything?"
How were things with him? Kade took a swig of his coffee before answering. "I'm getting married in December." So. Yeah. He knew that things got a bit crazy after putting a ring on it - even if the ring wasn't even real, in January's case, since Bones just said he didn't have one yet. Kade suspected that his and Monique's crazy was a bit different than January's and Bones' crazy. He didn't say so, though. "So, yeah. Things are going really well for me. I don't have any complaints, really."

Yeah. That's... that. Vic smiled genuinely, thinking of the good reason Kade was referring to. "Yes. Definitely. I wouldn't say I'm dragged into it... I am the groom, really, so I need to be there for some things. I just didn't realize how big it was?" They hadn't set up a date or anything, even. "My sister's helping me figure some things out, so that's supposed to be good." See the 'supposed to' part? Yeah, it was kind of a keyword there.
Oh? He didn't know Kade was engaged, too. What a coincidence. "Oh, congratulations." Vic felt sort of guilty that he didn't know this the way Kade did. But again, Jan never mentioned it so he was happily blaming this on her. Look at him not complaining about planning or overwhelming feelings, though. Vic had a weird urge to shake the man's shoulders and see if he was somehow bewitched to remain calm? His girlfriend's work probably? Hmm? "That's great. You do look quite calm and collected." He didn't have dark circles under his eyes like Vic did. Wow, he kinda hated the man right now. "Is it going to be a big ceremony?" Just checking.

She was going to be the best in her class.
Cassie reached a well manicured hand across the table to give Elodie's hand a very gentle pat.
"Pretty.." That was her new nickname. "I thought we already established that this is the best brand with the best line in the entire wizarding and muggle world." She was that confident in her product, otherwise she wouldn't have bet lunch and coffee on it. Storm was synonymous with the best. "I think we're in for great things together for a long time." She flashed her a smile and began scribbling notes down.
"Not to worry, Storm industries have the interest of our workers and client front of mind. What I'll need is a copy of your school schedule and we'll do our very best to work around it."
She also pulled out a card and handed it over.
"This is for you. You may owl or call or floo if you need anything at all." Break a nail? Need an emergency designer dress? Anything at all.

He had picked a seat out-doors, where the air was fresh and the sun at just the right angle so as to be pleasant but not blinding. It also afforded him the best vantage point of the restaurant, and a secure window behind his back. For some reason, the city had his nerves on end. Or perhaps that was the package that waited on the table, thick and bound in heavy mailing paper.
Running his fingers back through his hair, Sabel glanced around at the patrons enjoying their meals and drinks, or sharing in pleasant conversation. It was nice to see people so carefree and relaxed. It gave him some comfort to watch them in such a state, knowing that what he did and what the ministry did was not for naught. At the same time, it made the weight of the conversation before him that much more of a burden.
Resting his hand on top of the package, he flicked at the edges of the paper, searching for a familiar face in the crowd. How long had it been though, since he had seen her? Would he still be able to recognize her, and her him, or would they pass each other by and find out later by owl that they had been sitting a table apart, or on the other side of the glass.
Shifting around in his chair, Sabel glanced over his shoulder briefly to check his suspicion.

In recent times she never could get enough of being out of doors, and it gave her the overwhelming urge to run, to spread her legs for more than a few levels in a stuffy building full of people she would be more than happy to avoid. Of course, as nice as the day was, there was another reason why she could appreciate today's outing into town, and that was a friendly face.
When the cafe's familiar tables came into view, Emily began scanning the modest crowd to see if she was early or merely on time. Standing with her hands in her jacket pockets, Emily's hazel gaze panned the outdoor setting until... they landed on her company. Smiling to herself, she proceeded to make a bee-line between the tables until she reached the one against the window.
"You've aged," she started jokingly, pulling her hands out of her pocket and extending them to embrace her old partner.

As much as Sabel had been dreading the meeting, fearing the worst outcome and trying to organize his thoughts into some manner of professional speech and argument, all of that faded to nothing as he heard Emily's voice.
Turning about, a grin spread on his face. "You're one to talk, stranger."
Standing, he took a moment to look at how much she had actually changed, before pulling her in for a hug. "Merlin's beard it's good to see you." Drawing back, he gave her shoulders a squeeze before pulling back a chair for her. "How have you been? How have things been?"

Had it been anyone else to say that, and they'd be in for it... but as it was only between them, it was only banter. As tight-knit as the MLE group were, she'd missed this, it just hadn't been the same for too long now.
"I guess time got the best of us," she shrugged as he stood. It was true, they were little more than children last they properly saw each other. Time had passed, and change had set in. it was just nice too see there was still a semblance to the past.
She never had been one for hugging or other public displays of affection, but there was no hesitation is wrapping her arms around Sabel now. "It's even better to see you, in one piece." It was something she was grateful for, all things considered. Dropping her arms from his side, Emily took the seat Sabel offered, unbuttoning her coat to sit more at ease.
"I've been well, things are well - good - great actually." There was little for her to complain about, not that she ever would. "And how are you? The family?"
Sabel couldn't help but chuckle, both at the truth in her words and the change in her actions. Time had gotten the better of them, but hopefully the best.
Taking a seat across from Emily, he pulled the package on the table a little bit closer to himself. He didn't want to get into the meat of it right off the back. It would be nice to revel in their friendship for a while longer, to speak openly without proper title addresses or more somber statements.
He shook his head in wonder. "Still not one for over elaboration, huh?" He had hoped for a little bit more, but he wouldn't push. There was time enough for that.
"We are all well, thank you. Arya and the baby are good, strong now." He had provided a brief letter to Emily a few months back, detailing his sudden need for unquestioned time off to take care of his family. While their health couldn't be better, time hadn't quite healed the trauma of nearly loosing both of them. He swallowed his emotion back. "Emma's grown tall, speaking and walking and feeding herself."
Sabel blinked, realizing how much time had really passed. It felt like just the other day Emily and him had been YATIs with the MOM. Now, here he was, talking about being a father of two.
Shifting his weight, he tilted his head. "And you? No new news with you?" Family? A significant other? Not that he thought she would tell him, of course. But it never hurt to ask.

The package on the table between them didn't go unnoticed, but it wasn't for her to initiate discussions of its contents or its exchange, whether or not it was relevant to their meeting. For the time being, she was simply going to enjoy Sabel's company - something she had been deprived of for too long.
It was her turn to chuckle at his comment regarding elaboration. When did she ever? ... "No, that hasn't changed, but for you I suppose I could make an exception, if I'm feeling generous," she considered. After all, there was no time like the present for... change, and things of that nature. Though in truth, there'd been a fair bit of that already.
"I'm pleased to hear it," and honestly she was. Though the owl she received hadn't contained much of an explanation, she didn't need to know these things. All she needed to know was that he was okay. Of course, it was still difficult to imagine Sabel with children, just as difficult as it was to imagine herself with an almost teenager. "I don't doubt that for a second, and I'm sure she's as beautiful and bright as ever."
With her arms draped over the arm rests, Emily continued to smile and focus her gaze on Sabel, it never ceased to amaze her how easily they could pick up where they left off as if time hadn't been as imposing a factor as it had been. Still, the gap between the Sabel in her memories and the one seated before her could not be mistaken to be the same.
She could tell he was fishing, it wasn't so unusual from him and considering it was such a nice day she could make allowances for this opening up and elaborating thing. "Lots of news actually," she informed, her brows raised for emphasis. "Would you believe I've softened over the years? I have healthy relationships with humans now." And yes, she'd used the word relationship. "I've been seeing someone for close to three years, and I've extended my family." Saying the words I adopted a son were still a challenge in normal conversation, something she was slowly getting better at. But for the time being she could take baby steps and lead into it.

Generous. That made him chuckle. The years then, had indeed been kind and long.
The Emily he remembered was a bit more of a cold shoulder, but there had always been warmth in her. It was nice to see it finally coming to blossom, even if that meant he would be the receiver of her smiles and long stares. He really didn't mind, it was simply nice to see her smile.
He reddened a little at the compliment, nodding his head at the same time. It might be boasting, but he would be the first to say that his children, his family, was gorgeous. It was merely strange getting used to talking about his own children with people he had not so long ago been a child with himself. "Maybe I'll bring her around the office." A bring-your-child-to-work day type of deal. Did the wizarding world have that, or was that a fluke of his muggle past?
The curiosity was quickly discarded for another as his ears and his eyebrows picked at up the mention of her holding soft relationships. At first, he thought she might be pulling his leg and leading him down some unexpected pathway. The real truth, while carefully veiled, was heartwarming. "That's wonderful, Emily. I'm so happy for you. Though, I want to meet this bloke, you hear?"
Make sure he wasn't some shifty-eyed bat. Emily had a good sense about people, but it went without saying that she was almost like a sister to him, and he felt responsible for looking out for her.
The second point of her softer heart, he didn't touch right away. Instead, he tried to puzzle it out, rubbing a finger along the side of his jaw as he thought. Extended her family? Did that mean she was engaged too? No, he didn't see a ring anywhere and she would have said fiance, not boyfriend. Emily was secretive, but she was also very correct when she spoke. Maybe a dog or a cat or a pet addition? Some people referred to pets as family, and he wouldn't judge. His dogs were very much a living and breathing part of his.
His finger stopped on mid-rub, and he eyed the woman across from him. Surely she didn't mean she had a kid. As wonderful as the idea was, and as good of a mother as he knew she would make, he just couldn't see Emily Browne with a baby, balancing her work with changing diapers.
He dropped his hand and leaned forward slightly. "Emily, you can't just leave it hanging at that." She could see, couldn't she, all the questions knocking about in his head? All the ones he was refraining from bursting out?

Yeah. That's...
Kade nodded slowly as Vic spoke. "I think traditionally, the groom's role is to show up and say 'I do.'" But he shrugged, because he wasn't exactly all-knowledgeable on weddings. Which Vic probably assumed. He could help but laugh when the man said that being helped by his sister was supposed to be fun. "Supposed to be? Not living up to your expectations, then?"
He took a bite of his croissant and finished his coffee. And then just kind of... looked at the man across the table from him. He sounded surprised. Which was somewhat offensive. "So... January didn't tell you?" He wasn't really upset. Well. He might have been. But he hoped he didn't sound like he was. But, honestly. His friend hadn't told her fiance that her friend was also getting married?
Oh. He looked calm and collected? Good. Bones sure didn't. But Kade didn't say so. "Thanks. It's going to be a small ceremony. Just close family and stuff." Yeah, he'd invited January... but he might have been reconsidering. Whoops. Moving along. "I'm in charge of the whole thing, actually, so it's been interesting." He smiled. Interesting in a good way. Meaning, he enjoyed every second of planning.
