| Office of Becca Yenorin Liz's Bestie ● Helvetica ● ● Jigglypuff ● Jeff Vader The office of the department head is simple, minimalist and tidy. Mess is not accepted unless she made it herself. Feel free to come in once invited and take a seat. All comments, complaints and enquires are welcomed.
Do be advised that coffee isn't allowed into this space, but tea is okay. OOC: Anyone from any department is welcome to RP here.

| Swedishfish Girl! Madame Librarian! Jess's Soul Sister! Sweetest Swede! Sophie remembered reading about her new boss Becca Yenorin when she had been featured in the Daily Prophet years back as Magical Creatures new Department Head. Before accepting her new job position Sophie had of course done some discreet inquiries via friends to know a little more about the woman that was going to be her employer. An older married woman with four kids, a vast work experience and a reputation to be though, demanding and having a high work ethic. None of those things scared Sophie off. If anything it made her more curious to meet this Becca and see how she was in actual person.
When the letter had arrived to invite her to a meeting with her new boss about her new job position Sophie had taken it as a sign that her wish to meet officially was mutual.
She easily navigated her way to Becca's office on the day, where she raised her hand to knock on the door, right on time.

With everything around her seeming to be doing its own thing, Becca had given up on controlling anything today. Was anything going to go right? Oh! It seemed that Sophie was on time for her appointment, at least THAT was something that had gone right so far. Getting up from the floor and throwing a paper towel in the bin that she'd used to clear up her spilt tea, Becca called out "Come in!" Now to pretend that everything had gone perfectly well that day.
Once settled behind her desk, Becca pulled a tray of drinks and cups toward her and looked up expectantly at the door. Hopefully Sophie would get the message and choose a drink before Becca even had to offer.

Hopefully Sophie would get the message and choose a drink before Becca even had to offer. Sophie picked at a loose strand on her black ministry robes as she waited to be allowed entrance. Would her friends judgements about her new boss be confirmed or would she have another view entirely after the meeting? It remained to be seen. Just then she heard a faint female voice call out 'Come in' from behind the closed door.
Pushing some brown locks of hair out of her face Sophie turned down the door handle and entered the office. She first took note of the flaming red hair, and then the whole woman that sat behind the desk, and the refreshments tray. Slowly walking closer to the desk Sophie greeted politely when her brown eyes met the other woman's "Good day Mrs Yenorin," Pouring up a cup of coffee for herself with a touch of milk and sugar she remained standing. "The orientation event at the rugby stadium was interesting. Is orientation events held yearly?" If it was then was it okay to not attend next time?

"The orientation event at the rugby stadium was interesting. Is orientation events held yearly?" If it was then was it okay to not attend next time? As the woman reached for a drink, Becca gave her a warm smile. "Hello, Miss Connolly. Please, call me Becca." Her blue eyes followed the cup as a frown started to appear. Was that coffee??? Where on EARTH had she got that from??? Becca started moving things around on the tray, wondering where the coffee had come from. "Oh, um, yeah. They're a way to have new staff meet the department heads and other coworkers before work begins and hopefully help some of the anxiety of starting a new job abate." Becca clearly was distracted, but answered thoroughly.
Once she was finished, she stood up and frowned at the mug in Sophie's hands. "I'm sorry, I have no idea how the coffee got into my tray, but could you either get rid of the smell with a spell or remove it from the room please? It makes me feel quite unwell." Was it that sneaky Maddox trying to play tricks? Nah... that was far too much like effort for him. If this was going to keep happening, she would have to check that tray every few hours!

Was it that sneaky Maddox trying to play tricks? Nah... that was far too much like effort for him. If this was going to keep happening, she would have to check that tray every few hours! Still standing with her coffee cup in her hands Sophie beamed warmly in return. "It's a pleasure to finally meet you Becca. Please call me Sophie." And not Sophelina like one of her ex colleagues at Beauxbatons had done. So irritating. She watched as Becca started to move things around on the refreshments tray like she was looking for something or other. Nodding Sophie responded "Yes, it was a fun night. I walked away with a handy clock for my grandmother from the auction tables." Maybe she was less anxious about starting her new job now, but she wasn't going to give the Orientation event that she had really thought a big waste of time that credit. And she wasn't going to tell Becca her real honest feelings about the Orientation event at a rugby stadium either. Cringe.
Sophie's brown eyes travelled from the wonderful smelling coffee in her cup to her very distraught looking and sounding new boss. Oops! Reaching for her wand with her free hand she quickly made the liquid disappear with only a teeny tiny bit of reluctance. Eyes on her boss Sophie apologized. "I'm sorry I didn't know you could become nauseous just by a smell." Something to log into memory. "What on the tray can I drink that is safe?" She was not interested in inconveniencing her boss a second time.

She was not interested in inconveniencing her boss a second time. Sophie would work. It was better to be on first name basis with people. It helped with the camaraderie in the field if they needed to go out and deal with something big. "Fantastic! I hope your grandmother liked the clock?" Even with the coffee smell, Becca was focusing on Sophie. "How did you find Orientation?" Becca was curious to see how people felt about the event to see what she could suggest to them for next time.
Letting out a sigh of relief when the coffee disappeared and the smell followed it quickly, Becca smiled at Sophie. "Thank you. It's been a lifelong problem." She wouldn't tell her what happened if she ingested any of the foul stuff. "Anything else. I have no idea how the coffee got there! I don't allow it into my office at all and I'll have to investigate how it got there." Had Gid done it to try and get her excited at finding the perp and tracking him down? If so, he was in sooooo much trouble. "So, Sophie. How have you found the department so far?" Looks, how welcoming it was, all that fun stuff.

If so, he was in sooooo much trouble. "So, Sophie. How have you found the department so far?" Looks, how welcoming it was, all that fun stuff. Finally she had gotten a boss that seemed to accept that she didn't like being called nicknames. Sophelina, was still a thorn from her past employment that Sophie couldn't just shake off. To have good camaraderie in the field on a big case it helped if you knew your co-workers well so she was going to keep that in mind while talking to Becca. Smiling Sophie said "My grandmother loves the clock. It has made it immensely easier for her to remember when to do things." Like when to take her medicine.
Orientation. Sophie paused for a moment to choose her words wisely. When she spoke she said tentatively "It was okay I guess. I didn't know what to expect going into it. I met a few of the other creatures employees and they seem friendly enough. I thought the event would give me a better idea of what each department does and which departments creatures cooperate with most." It'd make field work easier if she understood that. "You're welcome," Sophie smiled. "I suppose your smell problem isn't much different from my pox tinted fingers." It was something that she had to live with for the rest of her life. Shrugging she asked "Have you gotten a new assistant that doesn't know about your medical problem that could explain the coffee?" It could be a simple mistake like that or it was a prank or something that she didn't want to consider. "Erm, the department is very welcoming and my cubicle is nice and airy." Sophie answered a little unsure of what Becca was after. "Do we share the breakroom with DERP?"

Becca beamed at Sophie, glad to hear that her grandmother was finding her time keeping easier now. "If you need any help with her, please do let me know." Mhmm, Becca was good like that.
"Not many people know what to expect." That was for sure. "My first orientation since I came back to the UK, they had t-shirts basically saying I was the property of the Ministry. I may or may not have burnt mine." She totally had. "I can pass that comment on and I'd love to hear any more suggestions for the orientation that you may have." It was always good to know what was going on in people's heads.
"Yes, it's not the best problem to have when my husband adores coffee so much." Becca sighed now. "I don't have an assistant, I find they kind of become a middle man and people rarely get to talk to me. I also prefer to do my own paperwork." So that kicked that theory in the teeth.
"Fabulous, is there anything else I can get you to make you feel comfortable?" Hopefully they could make every person feel fantastic when coming to work. "We do, but they're friendly. Mostly people with green thumbs and people who want to protect our world for future generations."

My grandmother is getting a bit batty with her old age so she is slowly driving everyone crazy." Especially since she kept on buying more and more odd pets that she couldn't care for. "Do you perhaps have any connection with the muggle zoo here in London?" Because not all grandmas pets were magical.
Making big eyes Sophie said "I'm glad i didn't get a t-shirt with that statement in my goodie bag this year. I would have refused to wear it. I'm an employee not someone's property." Ugh, she'd start fuming if someone were to even hint at that.
Taking a breath she refocused on what Becca was asking. Shaking her head Sophie said "I don't have any more orientation suggestions at this time. I'll think on it though." The coffee allergy that Becca suffered from was peculiar. Sighing she said "I think you should still investigate this and get your husband involved...He is the head of the MLE department right?" "I don't think so. My cubicle is comfortable and I like my co-workers but maybe we could have a creature field training session?" Sophie suggested. It would make future crisis cases easier to handle if you knew you could trust your colleagues.
