Baby Valeria was content sitting on Mama's lap. Mama always smelled pretty and gave her lots of cuddles and kisses, like now. She squealed happily, the best way she knew how to express her happiness, and reached forwad for things on the desk.

OH! PAPER!

Valeria slapped her chubby little hand on it, clenched it into a fist, crumpling the paper, and pulled it to her mouth.

Smiling, Gabby ran a hand through her daughter's hair. Both of her girls had beautiful dark locks. They definitely took after their father more in that aspect, since her own hair was light brown. Of course it was every bit as beautiful.

Valeria had found a piece of paper and was in the process of chewing on it, but Gabby wasn't bothered; it was blank so no harm done. Just so long as she didn't ruin one that actually had important stuff written on it... She really needed to get started on work, but maybe it was best to get her daughter settled first. "Do you want mama to read you a story, baby?" There were a couple in the baby bag...

The paper was FUN to play with. It wasn't helping her gums, but it was making a sound. Valeria shook it, then scrunched it back again. She giggled at it, then chewed it again. It might not be good for the gums but it was somewhat good at catching her drool.

Mama was saying something, then. It was a word and Valeria had heard that word before. Story. After frowning for a moment, working out what the word meant for her, she smiled. "Dorie," Valeria said, imitating the word 'story'. She lett go of the paper and tried to swivel around in Mama's lap so that she could be cuddled more. Stories were good, and stories sometimes made Valeria's eyes heavy.

The noise was making Liana slightly restless. Gabby could see her baby stir in the carrier even though she was still asleep. Not wanting her to wake up, she held Valeria firmly in one hand while using the other to push the button to make it rock back and forth gently. That done, she pushed the other button that made soft music. There, that was one thing taken care of. Now she just needed to deal with the drooling.

Frowning slightly, Gabby got a towel from the bag and wiped Valeria's face. Hopefully this teething thing would be over soon because she knew that her baby girl was uncomfortable. Unfortunately there was only so much they could do about it. There were a few teething rings though, kept cold enough to help numb her gums without freezing them. Thank Merlin for magic making this possible while she was at work. She handed one over to her daughter before snuggling her in closer and starting on reading Green Eggs and Ham.

It was a strange book in her opinion, but it had been a shower gift and Valeria DID seem to like it even if it made no sense.

Evan was here. Right on time with coffee in hand. Yeah, he had been running just a tad bit behind this morning after chasing some toddlers around the house. So it had been coffee on the go for him.

Taking a sip of the still rather hot drink he entered the office stopping in his tracks just inside the doorway. What was that noise? Crinkling or something. Sounded like someone wasn't all that happy with the paper they were working with. There was another noise though along with it, one he knew well from his home. Babbling. Baby sounds.

The man chuckled quietly to himself as he made his way to his cubicle. "Morning Gabby, you brought the little one with you today, hmm?" Or not so little anymore as she was over a year now, wasn't she? That's when he took full notice of the littler baby in a carrier and laughed once more very softly. "Ah, both little ones. You won't be getting much done today it seems." He was teasing of course but who really knew. Sometimes you got lucky and could get a great deal accomplished even with little ones under foot. It all depended on the person and children as well as the day. This much he knew.

Valeria felt the wetness on her face disappear, which was more comfortable. And then she had a cold chewing toy! Her mama gave them to her sometimes, and Valeria took it with her chubby hands and started gnawing on it. Her gums felt better already. What was even BETTER than the cold chewing toy was mama cuddles. Valeria snuggled up against her mama as she started reading the BEST book, even if she didn't know what it was called. She watched all the pictures and listened to her mama's voice whilst she read it.

Valeria heard another voice, and with heavy eyes, she tried to look up to see who it was. It didn't sound like Dada, or even like Poppa, and it wasn't a voice she could remember hearing. But before she had time to really look at the other person, her eyes closed and she fell asleep.

Gabby could tell that Valeria was falling asleep before she could even finish the story. Books were a great way to have her fall asleep, and the comfort of the teething ring only served to help matters. A nap would be good for the both of them.

Finishing the book, she kissed her daughter's head gently so as not to wake her up.

It was at that moment she realized that Evan had arrived. Not the best timing, but he was being quiet enough. At any rate she was pleased that people were starting to come in because they needed to get to work. Fingers crossed they would make a lot of progress and Valeria would have a nice long nap. So long as there weren't any loud idiots around... Any of THOSE would feel the wrath of an angry mother. "Morning, Evan. I wanted to take them in today. We should still be able to get everything done." Gabby was an amazing worker and an amazing boss, so she could get through everything no problem. She was amazing like that.

Being careful not to disturb Valeria, Gabby went about setting up a little bed on the floor. There was no way to take a cot in with her, and no way that she would have her child sleep above ground level in that case. A bunch of pillows and blankets worked perfectly, however. Carefully she set up a little bed and placed her daughter on it before covering her with the blanket.

She needn't say that everyone need be quiet so as not to disturb her. That much was obvious, and besides there shouldn't be any yelling in the office.

It probably wasn't the very best of timing for him to have walked in just then but this was always the time he arrived in the morning. Gabby had been reading a story to one of the girls who was now sleeping in her mothers arms a toy in her mouth. A toy that he knew well having had them in his home as well for Luna and Lukas when they had been getting their teeth in.

A sleeping teething toddler was definitely not one you wanted to wake up. It was in his favor this morning that he knew this and very well could be quiet. "Teething, hmm?" he asked quietly watching as his stand-in 'boss' made a small bed for her daughter and laid the child down. "Is she having a rough time with it?" His twins were forever drooling and putting things in their mouths when they had been getting their teeth.

There was no doubt in his mind that they would get everything done. "What all needs to be done this morning? Anything new?" Evan was still being quiet, his blue eyes scanning the office to see if anyone else had arrived yet and was just being incredibly quiet.

Carefully Gabby took the teething ring from Valeria. The last thing she wanted to do right now was accidentally disturb her daughter's sleep but there was no way that she could hang on to it. "Hopefully the teething is over with soon but I have no idea how long it's going to last for. She's uncomfortable a lot of the time." Frown. She hated seeing her baby distressed, but they were doing the best that they could for her. Maybe Zhenya could tell them more the next time she examined Valeria.

Anyway. They had work to do.

Gabby adjusted the blanket that was covering Liana, glad that the little one had managed to go back to sleep. Music and rocking always did wonders. "Still dealing with the broom nonsense and other than that it's a lot of the same old stuff." Hopefully nothing too crazy would happen today because she didn't think she could deal with it.

"It varies with each child from what I can tell. My youngest Lukas had a much more difficult time with teething then his sister did." The two were twins if that mattered at all with the situation. His wife had rubbed something on their daughters gums which had helped the baby but it hadn't worked much for their son. "Lukas likes to chew on things, so he has many toys that are safe to teeth on. Baby biscuits help a lot as well." Just an idea if Valeria didn't already have those things.

Work though. Yes, that's why he was here like every morning.

Evan waited patiently while Gabby tended to her daughters for a moment. Was that the main focus today? The brooms. Still. The man fought the urge to heave a sigh since they've been dealing with the same problem for awhile now. This was his work though. It's what he did. "I'll get right on that," the dark haired man confirmed nodding his head.

It was time to get started on what he did best. Maybe with any luck today would be the day that this problem would be taken care of once and for all.

Nod. Gabby was not surprised to hear that it varied from child to child; that was more or less what she had expected. "Valeria likes to chew on things as well. Baby biscuits?" That was something they hadn't tried yet, but if they helped... Well, it would be something worth stocking up on. Hopefully Valeria would like them because goodness knows it was hard to feed something to a fussy baby who wanted nothing of it.

Yep, more of the boring stuff. Gabby was beyond tired of the broom nonsense, but unfortunately it could take a little while for some things to sort themselves out. Her plan was to get everything wrapped up with that issue today. All depended on her workers, however. She nodded as Evan said that he would get to work on it. "Fingers crossed something new and exciting will happen today." So that they had something more enjoyable to do with their time.

After checking to make sure that Valeria was still asleep, Gabby spent a few minutes filling out a form that she needed to do before getting up to grab a drink from the break room. She was counting down the days before she could have regular coffee again, but for the moment she was settling on decaf. Thank Merlin she was a morning person because otherwise she had no idea how she would make it through workdays without an energy boost.

Cup in hand, she made her way back over to her desk before seeing something that made her drop her coffee to the floor. "Valeria?? Where is Valeria?!" Her panicked voice caused Liana to wake up crying.

Grabbing her wand, she took deep breaths until she was able to send a patronus to Archer telling him to get his butt over there.

Archer RAN.

RAN up the two floors to get to Gabby's area. "Valeria!? She's gone?" His head swivelled around everywhere to look for her. "Desks... she likes crawling." He got down on his hands and knees and looked under all the desks he could, going up and down... making sure nobody was sitting behind them first of course. "'Leria, baby, where are you?"

All the while he was looking, his Liana was crying. He started singing hush little baby, the song he used when his babies were unsettled at night, to help sooth them. But waking up from a nap was always traumatic to them, apparently.

"Babe, do you know if any doors were opened or... or if anyone left the office at all?" he asked her, his voice still in panic but quieter. He put a hand on her shoulder and gave it a reassuring squeeze.

Gabby didn't think she could cope without Archer there, and even still she was not able to hold herself together. Shaking, she watched as he started looking around, and she only snapped out of it when he started calming Liana. "I haven't checked to see. No one was here besides us and Evan!" Nuzzling into him, she started to cry. "I am the worst mother ever."

Archer looked around continuously, hoping for some sign of their daughter. A faint little giggle came from somewhere and Archer's head snapped up alert. "Did you hear that? Where did it come from?"

Gabby nodded, sharing the same sentiments as her husband; they both knew how Valeria could be, especially now that she was teething. There would be drool all over Lynley's office and she wouldn't be surprised if the little girl had stuck pretty much any object in her mouth. She gasped. What if there was a chocking hazard in there?!

Not even aware that her boss had arrived, Gabby rushed towards the office, knowing that Archer would follow behind her.

Baby biscuits were a toddlers chew toy and snack all in one. All the various flavors too were rather nice to keep a young one from growing bored. "I can bring you a few tomorrow, see if she likes them." That way if Valeria enjoyed them Gabby could go get her more of them. And well if she didn't like them then no harm done.

Evan nodded chuckling quietly. Boring or not work was work. He had settled himself into his cubicle and started on some paperwork that needed to be completed. He was making good progress with it when he heard Gabby shout. Huh?

Valeria was missing? Her daughter? "Wasn't she just asleep?" he questioned looking to the little area the child had been napping in. Children were quick and small enough to get into places they shouldn't be. Forgetting about the work he needed to complete he rose from his seat and began to look around nodding his head once at Archer when the man joined them.

Hearing Gabby and Archer say they thought their daughter was in Lynley's office he hoped for all their sake that the child wasn't. He watched them both rush off and returned to his desk where he could get back to work and keep an eye on the younger sleeping child of his co-workers. When they returned to the room he'd still be here.

Now that the interns had arrived, Lynley needed her employees to KNOW the interns had arrived, and they needed to give them a very warm welcome! She clapped her hands together.

"Ahem! Everyone! The two interns designated for our level are here and will be heading down shortly! Let us do our best to make them feel welcome and appreciated!" she said loudly enough for everyone to hear. Did ARCHER hear her? Because that was who she was most worried about, all right? "Once they arrive, I'll explain what they be doing to assist us this summer. Thank you, everyone, for your cooperation!" she was ready to go hide out in her office and finish paperwork, but alas. Now was not the time for that.

Once Colt was finished eating down at the orientation, he found level 6. He might have missed it a few times because he thought it might be on the lower level. Nonetheless he found a nice employee that was willing to help him and find his way. He found what looked like the office and he drew in a deep breath and knocked on the door. He opened it slightly and saw his boss and asked her, "Ermm is this the right place?" He was just curious if there was another area of the office he needed to be in.

Yeah, Evan had failed at making it to the meet and greet thing for the Interns. There really hadn't been any need for him to attend since his boss and few of his co-workers had attended, right? Plus he had been busy with his work which he paused from, lifting his head when he heard Lynley's voice.

Pushing his chair back an inch or so and looking around the wall of his cubicle, the man nodded once at his boss. "No problem, Lynley." He was all about having interns here in the department. Nothing wrong with the younger generation getting a jump start on possible career choices.

Just before he could get back to his work the door opened again and this time he swiveled around in his chair. He heard the voice of whoever was on the other side of the door but couldn't see who it was from where he sat.

So much for walking with the interns to Level Six; instead of waiting for Penelope, Chloe had saw Colt head off toward the wrong direction and had tried her best to steer him correctly. But alas, he had several paces and people between them and she had heels, which was not an excuse for him getting lost or her losing him. But that was that. And now he had made it and she should have just waited for Penelope, but no, no, she had to go attempt to play hero and help everyone. For the love of Merlin, who even was she? Her mother?

The redhead nonetheless made it into the work area, pleased that Colt was there, and Lynley of course (the woman had headed down many minutes before) and Evan too, who had she even seen at the orientation? She wasn't sure. Also, would it be appropriate of her to slip into her flats that she had stored away for emergency feet situations in her desk drawer? Normally she was fine with heels, but all the extra running around had not helped things.

Offering a brief, courteous smile toward her boss lady, she slowly inched toward her desk to swap out her shoes. Where was that boy of hers when she needed someone to lean on anyway?

Even though Gabby had been at the meet and greet thing, she had failed to meet either of the interns for her department. What did it really matter when she would be meeting them now in the office? Not one bit as far as she was concerned. Though she did nod when Lynley told them that they would need to try their best not to make them feel sad or unappreciated. She'd try her best, but things also depended on if these kids were idiots or not.

And there was one arriving just now. They only needed the other one to join him, and everything would be all set.

Things were running along smoothly now, weren't they? Colt had come down quickly, and she supposed Penelope would be down shortly. She was probably just finishing up eating and socializing; there was no hurry, at least not yet. Lynley raised an eyebrow at Colt and nodded. Because obviously this was the right place if she, his boss, were here, right? Logic. "Yes, son," she said half exasperatedly.

"Gabby, our intern Penelope will be working in the floo network. Mostly with you, since you're more hands-on than Anna is." Anna was the head floo person, so...she was more overseeing things and only getting involved when necessary. "You and perhaps Chloe later on in the summer, since both involve heavy charms work. Heavy and precise," she smiled at them both.

"Colt, I have a little job for us today. I thought I'd show you some of the important things about broom stuff in regard to level six myself, since our broom division is quite busy today with boring stuff. Like paperwork..." she grinned. "Are you prepared to take a small trip to Diagon Alley?" She asked him with a sly grin.

Evan chuckled lowly overhearing Lynley tell one of the interns they would be going to Diagon Alley. "Sadly someone has to do all this boring work," he commented grinning at his boss. Once he got all this finished he wouldn't having an intern tossed his way if that's what was going to happen. The young man standing there looked about that same age as his daughter.

Evan turned his attentions back onto the paperwork. The faster he completed this stuff the faster he could move on to something much more interesting.
