She shrugged not really making her usual eye contact that she liked to have when speaking to people.

She listened as he talked about the departments being so far away, it really wasn't that inconvenient for her since she really didn't have many friends other than Gavin and Emily in other departments. She really should try to get out more, but at the moment she wasn't sure what the point was. "Yeah it is very inconvenient. I guess I should be glad I'm not one that needs to go to the other buildings." She tried to jokingly chuckle but it did come out forced.

It was certainly time to change the subject, "So Gavin, any new women trying out love potions for your behalf?" She did manage an actual smile with her joke, "Just kidding, but what has been going on in your life. It really has been a while since I've gotten to see you." Was he dating? Though the thought of Gavin dating made her chuckle. He did not like it when she wanted to fix him up, so she'd be shocked if he would even try it out. Maybe she should follow his lead on that one.

That was as legit an answer as he supposed he'd get. People who were used to being social didn't enjoy the reclusive lifestyle for too long. He'd never had that problem but he'd heard of it happening. His best mate being a prime example of that. Poor man, couldn't be by himself for too long. "It's good you did. Hiding doesn't suit everyone." Not meant as an offence naturally, more like her being better when she was out there while people like him were better alone.

One of those that had to go to the other buildings? He had to from time to time, it was of course a hassle without Newell setting up those apparition zones he'd sanctioned but he'd live. "It's not that bad. Gives an excellent chance to stretch your legs and in my case get away from an office that's falling apart." The less time he spent in that place the better.

Gavin chuckled at her question finding that despite the lack of appeal it held it still amused him. That wasn't the only reason he found it amusing either. "Nah. If that happened, I don't know who Emily'd kill first; me or the women." An idea that in retrospect, shouldn't have been that amusing...but it still was. "I haven't had a need to be near the stuff since I left Mysteries." And he could admit it'd been a while since they caught up but what was happening in his life? A lot and nothing. He gave a shrug. "Been keeping busy with this lockout among other things. What about you?"

The more she was around Gavin the more this old familiar about her life started to come back a little. She felt her smile start being easier and not forced. She looked up at him as he spoke. "Yes the healer has actually said that as well. I guess when you are a PR person it's not really in your genetics to be isolated." She was use to being with a group of people or at least talking to people. Not just home alone or well the leaky alone. She had to rethink her living arrangements now. Maybe find a flat or something until she figured things out.

She hoped she didn't offend in her words, but he didn't seem phased so she shrugged, "Yes I feel we are all getting a bit more exercise so I guess if you had to travel to other buildings it would give a good excuse for exercise. " Maybe she needed to find a reason to go to one of the other buildings. Maybe go visit Emily. She hadn't seen her friend in ages.

..and speaking of Emily's, she could have hurt her neck for as fast as she snapped it up to look at him. "Emily? You don't mean MLE Emily? Are you dating her?" There could be thousands of Emily's what was the odds, but a certain conversation between the two women had popped in her mind. "How long have you been dating and not telling me? I thought we were friends Gavin." She liked this information, why had he kept it from her and for that matter why did Emily keep it from her. She'd really have to visit her soon.

Yes, they were back to the park.

João didn't go behind the tree but turned around to look at WWW.

"What a man!" he exploded angrily, "and he is the head of department? Poor mysteries." He pitied very few people, but right now the Mysteries had all his pity. Pity pity pity. Stupid stupid stupid man lacking vision.

"I wish there was a way to talk to Minister about it." But he, the political genius, lacked the brains and words for it.

There you had it, even the Healers were going along the same line of logic as him. People like Victoria did better around others. Just hearing that she'd tried isolating herself seemed all kinds of odd to him. "So you've been getting out then? Trying to fall back into the social routine?" A routine he could never understand but there was always a flip side to life. "Shouldn't be too hard. With the lockout I've noticed a lot more people hanging around this place." Mostly the restaurants and cafes but she got the idea.

He nodded in full agreement. Exercise, yes, definitely. It almost made one feel sorry for the Minister's Gopher except not really. "Some Departments have all the luck. It's interesting if not bothersome." But at the moment he was leaning closer to bothersome. Certain people weren't simply a floor lower now and Maintenance was Merlin knew where. He knew the location of course, he had a file but he didn't know where that was just yet.

His eyes widened at her sudden movement. Er....had he said something strange....? Once she started asking questions he sort of understood. "Yeah, that Emily. I don't think I know any other Emilys. She never did like the idea of amortentia." Neither did he but he liked the idea of potion making. Vic caught on quickly, it saved him half of all explanations. "It's been roughly three, three and a half months if my math isn't off. Took her to France during the break we had back at the end of December." He chuckled at her dramatics. "We are friends, just never thought this would be headline news for you."

"I..." she stopped her lip quivered a bit and she stopped taking a breath. She wouldn't break down in front of people. No that was just dumb and no one needed her problems. People had enough of their own issues to have to sit and deal with hers. Once she felt she could talk with her words not shaking she looked back at him, "Getting there. Mostly just work right now, but it's nice to get to be social with you." She gave a genuine smile. She was happy to see her old friend. The lockout yeah, "I guess people are, I haven't really noticed. It'd be nice if we could just take some work home and stay there." Though she had no home really, just staying at the leaky. She moved a bit and looked at the ground.

She chuckled, "Luck? I'm not sure any of us have become lucky with this. Have you seen the Hanger Sports and Games is in? The Gobstone Office is in an actual plane." A plane, though it was nice they were outside then she hadn't had any run ins with her girls father lately. Her mind drifted to them and she had to push it back to Gavin, "Though I do miss my coffee cart with the good coffee." That would be nice to have back.

She chuckled, "Wow, just how long have I been in hiding, I mean this is great. I'm so happy for you both." She loved seeing her friends happy and the fact that one of her friends made the other happy was even better. "I knew you'd find someone, I just knew it." She enjoyed the fact that he was dating. Her mind did drift to a thought, she'd have to ask Emily. Girls were allowed details and all. "and you took her away already? Wow this is serious, you really like her." She couldn't help but smile and feel happy towards this. Her smile faltered at the we are friends, not that she didn't think they were, but right now she just wasn't sure which way was up and the thought of still having friends was nice to hear. "I just like to know what's going on in my friends lives and that they are happy."

O_O Sweet. Merlin. Someone tell him she wasn't about to cry. The man wasn't good with tears...or sadness.....or anything remotely related to such strong emotions. He couldn't, he really couldn't and his eyes widened at her lip quivering. What did one do with a crying friend? Would hugs need to happen? He hadn't mentally prepared himself for those and found himself praying against all else that she'd keep her composure. The smile almost made him sigh in relief, but he was much better composed than that and offered a smile of his own. "It is nice." He would happily agree if only to keep her smiling. In truth it was nice. There weren't many people he classified as 'friends'. "Nah, you wouldn't want that. If the goal's to get out there again then I can hardly see taking work home being conducive to that. It's like Emily working even after work, probably necessary but dreadfully boring and pointless when there's life outside of work." Thankfully he'd gotten her to see it that way.

He could see where the idea of luck would be amusing given the circumstances but it was true--not for him, but true. "Yeah, I've heard of that. I take it you haven't been by International Cooperation or Environmental Protection?" He whistled, showing how impressive they were...compared to everywhere else. "Aside from all that muggle exposure, they've got it pretty good. Fancy offices, clean floors--excellent coffee." At the mention of her missing her coffee cart. "I'd say you should have a look but last time I did that I got myself an upset Department Head to soothe." Not fun...but highly amusing.

The idea of him finding someone, it was still odd to say the least and possibly only half true. He wouldn't have noticed Emily if she hadn't invaded his space that morning on the lifts. She would have been like the man with no face that grudgingly happily complied when he asked for more room. Strange how that worked out. "It's more the other way around." Her question caused another smile to spread across his face, a wider one this time. "I did. It was an.....interesting weekend, lots of ice and shopping." Among other things. It must have gone without saying that he really liked her. This was Mr. I Don't Like People, Please Don't Touch Me afterall. "It's a lovely trait of yours and in the same breath, I'd like to know you're happy." He gave her a measured look. Happy she was not, not right now anyway.

Paper bag in hand, January crossed the open meadow of the large park and headed towards the fountain. Luckily this fountain was muggle-made (as far as she knew) and would not be attacking her this time. She chose a bench in the clearing and took a seat, setting the bag next to her.

In that bag was two servings of lunch from a local sandwich shop. One for her and one for Vic. She had told him to meet her here for lunch because she didn't quite fancy eating in the makeshift cafeteria they had created. As she looked around, January didn't see Vic yet, but she knew he'd be arriving soon. For now, she would just relax and enjoy the sunshine.

Life was so boring these days. Well, work was boring so life was boring. Vic had this disoriented look on his face as he strolled down the street. He thought it was the street that led to that park January described earlier. She was bringing lunch, and he was happy to replace the vampire nest cafeteria with an outdoor lunch with a beautiful redhead.

He spotted her sitting in the park even before he walked in, and his spirit was immediately boosted. His mouth stretched into a wide grin and he picked up his pace, jumping onto the grass and no-walking zone just to come from behind her and surprise her. His boots got into the mud, though, ruining his attire and he felt a little stupid for going this route after only a few seconds from deciding to do it. Merlin, he was thirty nine, he wasn't a teenager.

"Afternoon, love." He hugged her head around the neck and placed a kiss on the top of her head before turning around and taking a seat next to her on the bench. His mud-ful shoes leaving mud prints behind him. Ugh. He gave them a disdainful look.

"He IS!" He so was hiding something! MANY things. João, having kept his anger all to himself on the ship, now had difficulties with keeping his voice down. But anyways, who would understand anything from his response? At least WWW had the common sense to keep his voice down.

"Exactly! We just wanted to see the place. Clearly, those stuff take too much time to show people around." By now, he was talking lowly too only for WWW's ears.

His boss? "Gavin Isaacs, you say... I'll talk to him about it then, and ask just under what circumstances would the Mysteries be investigated." Because judging by the treatment they had just been subject to, it was easy to see they wouldn't get any answers from Mr. Isaacs too.

He had noticed she could tell by his face, so she had to figure a way to just smooth it over though her just smiling seemed to clear the air a bit so she left it at that. “Oh I think I’d rather have that then have to deal with things I deal with daily.” She really wasn’t meaning the hanger its self, but the people in the hanger really. She loved working with Mariel and missed it terribly. Not that she wasn’t working with her still, but working for her was very much different than just working with her and the new girl really hadn’t spoken all that much, so she couldn’t have an opinion yet, no it was more Charely and the fear of an awkward run in with the man. “Though I’m not sure Mariel would enjoy me taking work to my place of residence right now.” Not that she was unorganized, but the leaky wasn’t a place to do work. She chuckled a bit as he mentioned Emily, “She is quiet the worker isn’t she? I’m glad you are getting her to relax some, she truly needs it.” Always worried Victoria was of Emily, because she was one to focus more on work than anything else.

She shook her head, she hadn’t seen any place but her own or well unless you count the training and then she had been there as well. “Nope just the hanger. I don’t really have a reason to go to the other places. So just the hanger and home usually.” That had been in life so far, not really reason to go and visit people she really didn’t know. Maybe she should though open the door to meet knew ministry employees. She might give it some thought, but the awkward of just walking into the buildings was enough to leave her out of that sort of thing. “It’d be nice to have decent coffee at the hanger, but Mariel and I have brought some to try and make it better.” Whether anyone appreciated it she wasn’t so sure. She couldn’t help but chuckle, “Gavin getting into trouble with department heads, hmm that is very interesting.” She wished she could have been a bug on the wall to see that. He wasn’t one that struck her as a problem employee so to have another department head upset with him she found that amusing.

So Emily found him, good for her. Gavin was a good guy and good guys were hard to find at times, so she was glad Emily found him. Now if they could just keep each other and stay happy that was the harder part of relationships. The part she was horrid at it seemed. “Ice?” That was an odd thing to have said, unless they went somewhere colder that had ice. Her mind had went to possibly getting hurt a lot which sent her mind other places, but she wouldn’t be asking for details. None of her business. Her smile at his kind words faltered and she looked away, “Don’t worry about me Gavin I’ll be fine.” She wasn’t going to use the word happy, because she wasn’t at the moment and she wasn’t sure when she would be again, but fine she knew she would be.

January kept her eyes in front of her, watching the fountain and the birds and the various people that passed by on the walking paths. She wasn't aware that she had a handsome man galloping across the muddy grass to come greet her, so when an arm wrapped around her neck, she was rather startled. But then the 'afternoon, love' part registered in her brain and she relaxed, a smile spreading across her face.

"Hello," she said, grinning as he took a seat next to her. January leaned over to give him a kiss on the cheek before placing the paper bag on the little space between them. She pulled out one wrapped sandwich and handed it over to Vic. "I didn't know what you like, but I figured a club was a safe guess?" Everybody liked those. January pulled out her own sandwich, two water bottles and another smaller package. "And chips." Everybody liked french fries chips, too.

By the way, "You've got a bit of mud on your shoes," she said teasingly. Obviously. In case he couldn't tell.

Isaacs too.
"It's alright, we'll get him yet," William assured his co-spy. He started rummaging through his backpack for the camera again. "We just have to figure out HOW." HOW were they going to sneak onto that ship, huh?

He nodded along as João talked and focused on the river in the distance. Hmmmm. "What if we lured the Mysteries Man away for an afternoon and tried to sneak on then, in disillusionment? Think THAT could work?" João's other idea was good too. "We'd probably need some evidence first."

All the MORE reason to get onto that damn boat!

Taking work home was better than what she had to deal with........forgive him but he was finding it hard to see how and was starting to get the idea he was missing something. Add the fact that Vic was a woman and it became almost definite that he was missing something. He could have poked around for answers but didn't for fear of new tears forming that he was no more adept at handling than the first set that disappeared before really getting far. "Think I'm liking Mariel more already." He said with an approving nod, but it was to be expected, he approved of anyone that got in the way of people trying to work too hard. Vic classifying Emily as 'quite the worker' would have been taken as an understatement a few months ago but he would admit she was making improvement. "Think I'm finally rubbing off on her. She doesn't fully believe it's a good thing but I'll have to work on that too. You'd be surprized at how relaxed she can get." He might have been surprized too if he didn't already expect it as part of the vacation conditions.

There was that other little hitch, the fact that she didn't actually have reason to be Department hopping and he wouldn't condone it either if it'd get in the way of productivity--something that was already being hindered by this whole lockout but lunch breaks were fine. "Life gets dull when you limit yourself to two places." He commented lightly, not by any means judging, just planting little seeds that would later blossom into the idea that she needed to get out more and to other places. Gavin wasn't going to pry but he could leave subtle hints just the same. Oh? Coffee? He didn't get that anymore, not unless it was morning coffee with Emily. The building wasn't safe, brewing coffee in there was like asking for a stomach infection. "Could check with Aron, ask him how he manages the good coffee." As a helpful suggestion befire shrugging at her teasing, a smile turning up the corner of his lips. "It was nothing grand, quite overplayed if you ask me. I'm discovering more and more that not everyone shares my sense of humour." Did it bother him? ......No. Should it?

Curious about the ice comment. It was expected, this was Vic afterall. [b]"Ice."[/i] He said with a firm nod and an amused expression at the memory. There was definitely a new appreciation for the stuff. "We stopped by a Christmas Market over in Paris, went ice-skating and I won." Okay....that might have been a somewhat distorted version but the basics were there. He DID take her ice-skating, they'd made a wager and he WON. Nevermind he'd technically cheated, Emily didn't mind and he got what he wanted. Double win. It was hard to not be concerned about her though. Not after knowing her while she was up and about and happy looking. He fixed his eyes on her for a moment, knowing fully well women hardly meant it when they said they were fine. "If there's anything you need help with, you can ask. Might not end up being of any real help but I can try." And in the end that was all anyone could really do, right?

Victoria have a smile and couldn’t help but chuckle, “I knew you would, it’s why I wanted to introduce you at one point.” but Gavin freaked about that if she remembered correctly. “and I’m not sure she’d mind if I took work home with me, Merlin knows I have enough to keep me busy, but I think she’d probably rather keep my documents in one place while I’m in transition of a place to live. The leaky probably isn’t the best place to do Quidditch schedules and trading card designs.” Not that she ever really left her room once there, but still not the best place for things to be. “Well its good she is relaxing more. I always try to get her to go out for a girl’s night, but she never seems to have the time or she just doesn’t want to.” maybe the second part was true, but lately really Vic wondered why anyone wanted to be around her.

She listened to Gavin, but really didn’t know why a Quidditch PR would need to go to the other departments. “Well if I ever find a reason to need to go to the other departments than I will jump at that.” That was probably all she could give him. Though he had a point. She wouldn’t mind getting to know more people, but why would people want to get to know her. Honestly she wasn’t just dealing with Bart now alone. She was going to have three children on her hands alone when they weren’t all at their fathers. Her social life was certainly being put on hold for heaven knows how long. “Maybe I’ll just have to take a bus trip to find your building and come visit you for lunch or something one day.” Emily wouldn’t mind if she went to visit Gavin right? He was her friend after all. She thought about the Aron comment, but really she was fine with bringing her own from home or just taking a walk. She needed little outside breaks now anyway. She chuckled at his next word, “Well I think it would have still been fun to be a bug on the wall to see it. Oh come on not everyone gets Gavin Isaacs sense of humor I can’t imagine this.” She liked the fact that she could push herself out of her own mind and talk about Gavin and his doings. This was good for her and she could freely smile and chuckle it was nice.

Oh so ice meant actual ice, she got it now, pushing things out of her head that had popped in there. “Oh ice skating sounds fun. I haven’t done that since I was a child. You won? Well that’s good.. I think.” What he won she wasn’t going to ask. It was none of her business really. She glanced at him and nodded with a forced smile, “Thank you that means a lot, but right now just having conversations like this is all the help I need.” Really no one could help her inside her head nor with her heart at the moment, so she would have to work both out on her own. Thought getting out of her own head was helping both at the same time.

Hmm.

"It's risky." He bit his lower lip in thought. "What about other employees?" The risks... looked terrifying. "How about we investigate from outside first? I'll speak to Mr. Isaacs, and you, sir, surely have a few friends to learn things?"

His grumpy mood was just a facade by now. It was like waking up in a bad mood and then feeling like you have to keep your frown all day even if you're not feeling that bad anymore. He did smile, a little smugly, at the ground when she gave him a cheek peck, then took the sandwich from her. "This is great, thank you. I couldn't wait to get out of that forsaken tunnel space. So boring." He pushed the wrapper away and took a big bite out of it. MHHmmmm. It was good.

Muddy shoes, yeah, he knew. Vic gave them a look before taking another chunk off the sandwich, "What I go through to make you smile." He grinned sideways at her, a little cheekily. He didn't mind going through that swamp, though she seemed more startled by his surprising hug than delighted at first, which was understandable to him. Having to work with a bunch of paranoid colleagues taught him well.

"How is your new work environment?" It must be more shiny and healthy than theirs. Grumble!nom grumble!nom.

"I believe that introduction was under a different context." He said, his lips twitching into something like a smirk. He could remember her insisting he meet Mariel, how could he forget when she'd just about made him crawl out of his skin? Of course he remembered. Vic had been on about him being the perfect guy for her friend and how she'd known he would treat her well and they'd be perfect. Quite the memory he had. Was it any wonder why he freaked? He didn't think he was the right guy for anyone, add what sounded like eternity and the thought he was good for anyone and it quickly became a 'no'. Gavin had been following her line of conversation well enough but there was one part that had him wishing she'd back track abit for his sake. "The Leaky Cauldron? I'm sorry, am I missing something?" Was that where she'd been staying these days? When did that happen? As for reasons Girls Night Outs didn't happen, he gave a small, unconvinced shrugged. "Nah. If she didn't want to she would have told you straight up." It was one of the things he could appreciate about Emily when she wasn't shooting holes through his ego, her honesty.

Sounded like a solid plan if she ever needed to and Gavin simply nodded along. It wasn't a must that she go seeing the other departments, not by a long shot, but it was interesting to see how the other half lived, or in this case the other Departments during this whole lockout. Might as well, it wouldn't be lasting forever. Not nearly that long. The lunch idea was inspired. "Let me know if you decide to. We can head over to that cafe they've got down the street....the building we have....isn't conducive to lunch. I couldn't expect you to eat in there." No. In fact he encouraged his own employees not to. Merlin he couldn't wait for them to blast a hole back inside the Ministry. He chuckled, amused by what she'd said next. "It still makes little sense to me. You think the world had a better sense of humour but he walked right in and proved otherwise." He gave an indifferent shrug. "His loss. Mr. Neves has the potential to be good company if you let him stick around." But noooo Mr. Summers didn't like visitors. Pfft.

"You're kidding." He said, leaning back into his seat and fixing her a curious look. "Since you were a child? Any particular reason or just a lack of time and opportunity." There was nothing he could do to hide the smirk. Yes, it was good he'd won. He liked winning especially with the prizes involved. "Pretty sure we both wanted me to win, even if she didn't say it." And there it was, the way he could help. Conversations like this weren't bad, he would almost admit to liking them if it wouldn't give people the wrong impression that he enjoyed the company of humanity in general. "I can manage that. It's not often I run into people...or try to for that matter," not even, "but it's doable." So long as it could help, he could.

How could she not smile at that? “Maybe it was, but I always have my reasons.” She still thought he would be a good one for Mariel, but she liked him with Emily as well, plus Mariel had that journalist, though Vic really didn’t like him. She didn’t know why, but she just didn’t trust the man. She knew there wasn’t really any way around his question and the slip of the tongue put her in that situation, “Yes the leaky I’ve been there about a month now. I’ve been going through some things, I’ll be fine though, seeing a healer for most of it, but Charely and I separated. I need to start looking for a more permanent place, just haven’t gotten around to it yet.” The thought of finding another home was making her drag her feet. She felt so dumb even saying she failed again at a relationship, especially when she had children involved again. “You are right about that. It’s a great quality Emily has. She has many great qualities, but I do like her honesty.” A great quality that many people really didn’t have.

[b] “I really might think about seeing the other departments, maybe it would do me some good.”[b] For reasons of being social, she probably should get out more, but she feared it at the same time. “But I would like to visit and do lunch with you. So whenever you think is best. I’m always able to leave the hanger when I want, so my schedule is pretty easy.” She didn’t travel much, no need when she could just sent owls to the teams with what she needed, but maybe she should start going their way more. Get out of the office and be more hands on. It probably wouldn’t hurt. “A café sounds nice.” not having been to many around, she wasn’t sure what was good and what wasn’t. “Oh I eat at the hanger, it can’t be worse than that.” The plane hanger was just dreadful, but workable so she dealt with it.

“Everyone should get your sense of humor, it’s just odd when they don’t.” Maybe there was a little sarcasm in her voice, but Victoria got his sense of humor, she really didn’t understand how others didn’t. “Who is Mr. Neves?’ She was afraid to ask, but at the same time she didn’t really know too many people so he could be a person, couldn’t he?

Shaking her head, “I’m not really sure why, just haven’t been around it to have the chance to ice skate, but it does sound fun.” Maybe she’d find somewhere to take Bart, he hadn’t ever ice skated, and she assumed he might like it. Her smile grew, “Oh really? So you winning must have meant a pretty good bet.” Yep her mind was going places, but she just chuckled and grinned. Go Emily.. was all she was going to say about that.

“I’m glad it’s doable, because I am enjoying getting to talk to you and catch up.” She hadn’t realized how much she missed social interaction and talking with friends until just now.

He seemed pleased with the choice of sandwich, so January smiled and began to unwrap her own. She was fond of those little muggle shops. They made good food, you know. She took a bite of her own sandwich. "Not too fond of your work relocation?" she inquired after swallowing her first bite. She hadn't talked to many people who were fond of the 'new' Ministry.

She smiled again at his comment. Vic did make her smile quite a bit. She didn't even think he had to try very hard, either. January caught herself gazing at him and shook herself from it before taking another bite of her lunch. Didn't want him to catch her, too.

"It's alright," she replied simply. "Now that we've cleaned it up, it's much nicer. I don't spent a whole lot of time in the office, though, so it doesn't bother me too much." At least all the dust had cleared so she wasn't sneezing all the time. "Better than a tunnel," she teased. Poor Vic.

Other employees? William looked up from messing with his camera, looked out toward the river and that boat, and then back to João. Hm. Maybeee. Maybe William had some friends that could help out... or acquaintances, more like. Sigh.

"I've only been at the Ministry for a year," he answered honestly. "But I can talk to some people. You can talk to some people, we'll talk to some people, and we'll figure something out." Investigating from the outside seemed like a better plan than just jumping in headfirst, he supposed.

Oh? Like João? Hmm. But he had been in Britain all his life, probably, so he MUST know more people than the Brazilian.

"Yes, that's the plan." Pause. He didn't want to leave yet. There must be something they could do... but there wasn't, and João wasn't going to risk his life.

"Well, then. I guess I'll see you later, sir." He turned to find a suitable place to apparate.

He wouldn't let this go!

Right. Of course. Always had her reasons. He shook his head, clearly able to see the humour in it now. Well most of the humour anyway. "Unjustifiable ones. Can't leave that part out. I'd be horrible for her. I'm horrible for anyone." Listening in on a conversation between him and Emily was proof enough of that. How they arrived by half the things they discussed was still beyond him.

...

This is why he never believed women when they said they were fine. If you pressed a little harder you found out the truth and it didn't seem very fine at all. "I'm sorry to hear that." Was the first thing to leave his lips. It was a real pity it happened, she'd always seemed so happy with the man--WHO WANTED TO REARRANGE HIS FACE (because yes, he still remembered that)--and now this? Wow. It was enough to make her see a healer. "And the girls? You managing them alone?" Or did she not have them? He wasn't sure how to proceed with a conversation like this and young babies--twins at that were no walk in the park alone. "If you need help looking, I can help." House hunting, he wasn't an expert but he'd done it enough. Moving used to be his quick fix for everything til he moved here. There was a tiny smile spreading. "Yeah, many good qualities, that you can hardly convince her she possesses." But he was persistent enough and believed what he wanted so.....

"I think it would too. No telling who you'll run into but you seem to have better luck with people than most so you shouldn't have much of a problem." Social she was social and could make friends easily enough. Gavin gave some thought to the time for lunch. She was free whenever and he was free without a set time. It was usually when he felt he'd gotten enough done and if that feeling never came then he never left his office. A bit hypocritical when you thought of the lectures he gave Emily on having lunch but...what she didn't know wouldn't come back to bite him in a conversation they would have. "I'll see what my week looks like and owl you if it seems I can have a proper lunch that won't be work centred at some point." His workload had increased since the lockout and he couldnt' begin to question it. "The Cafe will do. You haven't seen the breakroom. The condition extends far beyond what it looks like." The room itself was probably a hazard zone.

Gavin grinned at her. "My thoughts exactly. I have a healthy sense of humour." Despite it usually being at the expense of others. If people didn't take life so seriously they could develop an appreciation for it too. "Mr. Neves is the Minister's Personal Assistant. We had a conversation down in the Atrium that I'm amused to see was taken into serious consideration." And skating was something she simply didn't have much time for. "Pity. I recommend you make time. It wouldn't be wasted if it's on you." There was a knowing smile at her assumption. "It was a decent bet, one she thought she'd have won--she might have won too but don't tell her I said that."

He offered a small nod of reassurance. He was available for talks. Gavin was an excellent listener and it would be for the benefit of a friend.

It seemed they were both running high on frustration and low on ideas at the moment. William nearly sighed again. "Right. Owl me when you find anything." He nodded as the younger man turned to leave and prepared to do the same, stuffing his camera into his bag with a grunt.

He offered a small nod of reassurance. He was available for talks. Gavin was an excellent listener and it would be for the benefit of a friend.

“Oh Gavin you never give yourself enough credit, they are not unjustifiable. I know I was in that crush state at one point.” She’d admit that now, because what was the point, they were friends, she had no interest, and it was funny. and for the record you are not horrible for anyone and I know Emily would agree that you aren’t.” So stop saying you were Mr. Gavin.
She shrugged, what else was she going to do. I’m sorry to hear that, one of the worst sayings ever made, because people aren’t sure what else to say, a break up, a death, and it’s just I’m sorry to hear that then awkward, but she wasn’t going to let this go awkward. “It happens, nothing anyone could do.” She glanced up at him as he asked about the girls, now he could cue the awkward, because what normal mother did what she did, “Oh well.. .They are with Charely at the moment. I had to take care of some things before we do a joint custody. So I want fully be alone. He will be there as well.” She knew they could work together for their girls and it wasn’t like there was bad blood, though he had ever right to be upset. He treated her like gold and she just left. Ill or not, it wasn’t right and she would live with that. Oh and house hunting, “Oh well thank you, I might just take you up on that.” She could probably use a man’s help, no one seemed to take the women seriously when it came to big purchases.

So it was settled she would try to make a point to go to another department, it was a challenge she would fully accept and try, why not. What did she really have to lose except sometime of working, but she was working extra to keep her mind off of personal, so it should be alright to have a little extra break. “Owling sounds good and the café does sound perfect. If your break room is anything like ours I understand.” The hangar wasn’t falling apart, but it was just so dull and dirty. Maybe she could charm some walls or something to make it a little more colorful.

Gavin’s sense of humor, she tried to figure out why people wouldn’t get it, but she really knew why. “Well this man seems to need to just lighten up a bit.” Life was too short to be so uptight. “Do I dare ask what the conversation was about?” With Gavin it really could be anything. Her smiled back on her lips and a possible small blush on her cheeks she looked down, “Well maybe you’re right. I might try to go sometime, Bart might like to go as well.” Of course she’d think of things to do with her kids. So why not ice skate. “Oh I’m sure you both won in the end.” That was all she was going to say about that.
