| | Library A maze of thousands upon thousands of books, the library is heaven to any book-lover. Upon entering the high-ceilinged room, the smell of books, both ancient and new, hits you. There are many tall, narrow shelves neatly lined up, each divided into different sections -- charms, potions, Muggles, fiction, and so on. If you find a book you're interested in, simply make use of the sliding ladder or summon the book with Accio to retrieve it.
But the library just isn't a labyrinth of books. In the heart of the library and on the outskirts of it are tables and seating areas designated for quiet research and reading, some with accompanying fireplaces or large stained glass windows. Tucked away in the very back of the library is the Restricted Section, which requires permission to enter because of the more mature titles that are tightly locked and chained within (students sixth year and older may browse this section without being accompanied after asking for the key). At the entrance stands the front desk where the school librarian can usually be found, who will happily recommend a book, check out a book for you, and help you with any of your library needs. OOC: Please do not play for librarian Kalen Kennedy.

She asked calmly, not at all inclined to help if whoever it was would find themselves on the wrong side of that broom but the elf was being loud, and she was trying to learn. Surely they could discuss this in a voice more conducive to a library then he could be on his way. "And just what do you propose to do with them?" The more important question as blue eyes drifted back to the broom. Quote:

But who was that? It was the angry head elf. And there was no doubt who he was looking for. "Schmoop hasn't seen him lately, he hasn't. Not since he broke the snake tank, sir." Not that he had been looking for the younger elf. In fact, he had been avoiding him for this very reason. "Toddles!" Algamus continued to boom loudly at the badged eagle girl. "Little rascal has been making messes everywhere!" Yes, the head elf may have exaggerated slightly but at the pop, he couldn't help but turn and accidentally smack Schmoop with his horizontal broom.
Well he was right there in his face. "When Algamus finds him...."
With that the old elf popped out of there, since obviously the teenage elf wasn't there.

Another place that didn't carry the obligation of socializing. Most of the students here were studying. And if they weren't, he assumed the librarian would realign their priorities.
He happened upon some of the ... elves were they? And another student who was attempting to engage with the creatures. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Andromeda Renzler-Denaker Gryffindor First Year | Open Fluttery Pegasi Quinn slipped her wand into her left hand and waved some feeling back into her right hand; her wand hand. She really ought to take a break honestly, but she was determined to get through this shelf in the charms section tonight. Then she'll have a nice clean point in which she could spend some time copying the books in the transfiguration section before returning, easily, to where she left off with charms.
And Quinn still didn't feel she'd made much of a dent in copying the whole of the Hogwarts library into her infinity book. The library was simply huge.
After a minute or two, she finally slipped her wand back into her wand hand and repositioned the non-descript leatherbound book she was carrying in her left. "Effingo Librum." She tapped her wand to one of the books on the shelf. A thin wisp of silver-y material, not unlike that which appears when a memory is being drawn from a person, stretched out from the book, following the tip of her wand until she tapped the wand on the binding of the book in her hand. For a minute the books appeared linked by the silvery wisp as it flowed from the book on the shelf into the one she was holding. When it was finally finished, she repeated the whole thing with the next book.

Kalen had a stack of books trailing behind him as he walked along the shelves and with a wave of his fingers a few books would fly off of the stack and nestle back into their places on the shelves.
It was a common occurrence for him and he was deep in thought about other things when he rounded a corner and stopped so fast, his stack of books ran into him.
Thankfully they righted themselves as Kalen raised an eyebrow at the first year who was doing.. something to his books. “And what, pray tell are you doing to my books?” The librarian asked as he moved closer to her his left eyebrow still in its raised position. His green eyes were looking down at her rather sharply as he waited for her response. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Andromeda Renzler-Denaker Gryffindor First Year | Prof. Kennedy! Fluttery Pegasi Quinn closed her eyes, taking the briefest of moments to compose herself. She might not like or respect the man himself, not since she was tossed out of his class for doing exactly as he instructed in letting go of Reese's hand when asked to and heading to the window to observe the Aurora, with zero back talk on her part, but he was a Professor of Hogwarts, and would show the professor all the respect a professor of Hogwarts deserved.
When she was sure she could keep her voice calm and neutral, she turned to face the professor, looking him over swiftly. "To them? Nothing, sir." And she really didn't appreciate the insinuation that she'd ever defile a book, thank you kindly. "Look." Quinn pulled the last book she copied off the shelf, opened it and handed it to him so he could see, plainly, the book was in the exact same condition it had been before she came along.
Then, as he looked the book over, she tapped her own book, whispered the title of the book he was holding, and opened it, revealing a perfect copy of the book printed on its pages. "I was simply copying the book into mine, see?" No damage what-so-ever to the original. She closed her book and held it protectively against her. "I call it my Infinity book, sir. I came up with the idea when...when I didn't have regular access to my library at home, and asked my neighbor to help me with it. She used to teach here."

Hogwarts RPG Name: Solana Selwyn Slytherin Fifth Year Hogwarts RPG Name: Selene Diana Evans Ravenclaw Seventh Year | Snow Miser | Munchy | Molly Hooper | T | Hey, you | Phantom | Mrs. Chris Evans | Brat Pack | Tristalen Kalen’s other eyebrow joined the one that was already raised as Quinnlin spoke. He could clearly see she was doing something to his books and he didn’t appreciate her saying it was nothing.
He took the book from the first year and examined it carefully, he opened it and gently turned the pages of the tome before closing it and he even subtly checked to make sure the enchantments he had on the books were in place.
Everything seemed to be in order, but he was still skeptical. “Well it seems to be all right.” He said finally as he looked at her and then looked down at what she held in her hands.
She was What now? Copying the book into hers? How old was she? Last time he checked she was merely a first year and she was already doing such complicated magic. Magic that he didn’t exactly approve of. “I see.” He said as he put the book he was holding back in the shelf and turned to look at her, carefully measuring his voice and his reaction as he spoke. “I’m rather impressed that you’ve managed to do such a complicated piece of magic. However, I would have appreciated you asking me if you can do this. I’m in charge of the books in here, and something like this, is like checking the entire library out.”
He wasn’t too thrilled with what she was doing, but she technically wasn’t breaking any rules. “Also many of these books have anti-copy charms on them.” He said softly, because how easy would it be to copy things down magically word for word from a book and turn it in as an original essay. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Andromeda Renzler-Denaker Gryffindor First Year | Fluttery Pegasi Quinn blinked casually up at the man, convinced fully he had it in for her for some reason. It was abundantly clear in the way he seemed so intent on finding a single bent page or crease in which to punish her for.
And now she was being lectured for not even harming the books. And it wasn't a complicated spell. The enchantments on her book that let her copy other books into it, that was complicated. And she hadn't cast those, as she had just stated plainly. Imogen Greyvson had cast those. Quinn had assisted her in looking up latin for the incantations, but the actual spellcasting? The majority of figuring out the spells and enchantments? No. That had been all her neighbor.
The actual copying was so easy Imogen had enchanted a common stixk to do the job before Quinn had her wand.
But it was clear he didn't want to know anything about that. Or her really. He'd made up his mind and nothing was going to change that.
She bit her lip and slid her book back in her bag, coolly. "Apologies Professor. I was unaware it was against the rules to check out books from the library." Because wasn't that what his objection boiled down to? Naturally no person could check out every book at once, but she honestly wasn't either. Every book was available on the shelf for another kid to check out. Nor had she tried to sneak into the restricted section to copy those. So what this boiled down to is him saying she couldn't work her way through the library checking out book after book until she'd checked out and read every non-restricted book her, or quite simply, it was apparently against the rules for her to check out books.
And obviously she wouldn't be able to copy the books with anti-copying charms.
She blinked up at him a moment longer and gave him a perfect curtsy. "Since that is the case, I shall bid you a good day, Professor."
She slipped past the man, careful not to brush against him or the books on the shelves, least she lose points for that.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Kassandra Sutton Graduated | Flying long term assignment planning post 2 | Ravenpuff | Part Ninja | Boat Rocker | Exhausted Pigeon |
It was almost April and she hand't accomplished any of her goals. Not to her liking anyway. Emmalyn knew she needed to be more specific in her planning if she was going to make her major goal by the end of term. The library was just the place to force her to get some specifics down, without the distraction of being outside.
She pulled out her notebook and started planning.
Much happier that she had a fully laid out plan, she put her notebook away and closed her eyes to picture herself accomplishing all of the goals. She was doing well so far and wanted her success to continue. There still time to achieve her major goal. She could see herself flying higher and higher, going faster and faster, then just as she was about to loop, her vision turned to her body falling towards the ground and landing with a sickening thump. Her eyes popped open and she shuddered at the thought.
After giving her heart a moment to return to a normal pace, she grabbed her things to head out to the grounds for more practice.
