It goes without saying that everyone's favourite person in the train is the trolley lady. Old, plump, and just as sweet as the food she sells, she can provide you with the sugary delights you desire -- from Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans to Chocolate Frogs to Pumpkin Pasties, it is all there in her trolley! The woman comes around during the middle of the journey and is generally the cause for any traffic jams taking place in the corridor.
When you hear "Anything from the trolley?" be hollered, even from a distance, it would be wise of you to jump up, make sure you have your money in your pocket, and get in the corridor before a long line begins to form. If you are the unfortunate soul that has to deal with an endless line, keep calm and stay put because the wait is certainly worth it. Please make sure you are waiting your turn with patience because the trolley lady is likely to refuse making a transaction with you if she sees you trying to cut in line or pushing people out of the way.
OOC: No one plays the trolley lady, so please role-play receiving snacks and paying on your own.

Zoryn was decked out in full camouflage. And by full camouflage, I mean that she was walking around the train with a luggage bag on her head. But it was the best option for mobility and practicality. Except she kept running into things... And people. But she wanted some licorice wands so IT WAS A NECESSITY.
Could someone tell her when she made it to the front of the line? 'Cause she couldn't risk being seen out here. WHAT IF JONAS FOUND HER. Zoryn Spinnet could not stand the boy or his antics. There was a reason why she took a bite out of his arm in CoMC.
She couldn't risk it. If this is what her future life as a celebrity would be like then at least this was practice?

Julie had a lot of thoughts milling under her luscious curls as she approached the familiar food trolley. Number one? More or less how she really needed to buckle down and serve this term if she wanted to get Prefected and she did- badly more than anything, even more than she wanted to win the Queen Dream crown and that was seriously saying something because the slytherin fourth year had dreamed of that crown and all it's glory since she'd been five.
The Point Was: she wanted it really bad and nothing was gonna stand in her way. It was her birth-right as a Bellaire to exceed and excel while making it look effortless.
.....
.....
.....
Okay, but she really needed sugar. Like, now-ish. Julie pouted as the line carried on, unbothered by her feelings and needs. maybe she ought to have found Mairwen first, she'd at least have had someone to commiserate with- to bother and distract herself with- It wasn't like her brain was just going to casually shut up any time soon and-
wait. why was that kid in a....
Actually? Julie wasn't sure what was obscuring the kid's head, but it was a definite something and that was just enough to keep the Slytherin's eyes glued.
"Uh... " Julie began, a laugh curling the corners of her lips. She was totally about to start giggling except- Wow, this was a perfect opportunity to show how responsible and kind she was by helping someone out. Hello Julie. "Hey, are you doing okay in there?" she asked, slowly approaching the girl from the side rather than from behind(lest she scare her)- she assumed it was a girl anyway. The body was on the more feminine side from what Julie could see.

After putting his luggage away, Jonas had forgotten to eat that day. So, he headed down the isles to the food trolly. When he got there though, whole and behold, he saw Zoryn, struggling with a heavy luggage and a mystery girl trying to help her. He just crossed his arms and stood against the wall.
"There really should be emergency situations for underage wizards to use magic outside of Hogwarts, don't you think?" He asked trying to get both girl's attention.

Zor wasn’t entirely sure whether the line was moving up or not, but she assumed someone would help guide her when the time arrived. That and she periodically tried to peek out from underneath her luggage hat when she could. Just y’know, to be safe.
It wasn’t until she heard a close voice addressing someone (her). And she did wait quite a bit before replying, ‘cause she couldn’t exactly SEE who the person was talking to. “Who me?” It was a fair question. “YUP. Weather’s GREAT in here! I'm juuuust—“ Actually stranger with a voice that sounded kind of familiar but mostly not, Zoryn wasn’t doing just anything. “I NEED AIR,” she struggled pulling the heavy bag from over her head and gave the older girl a proper look.
“Dang. You are hair goals.”
She had maybe spoken to Julie Bellaire all of two times, but Zoryn knew an icon when she saw one. Perhaps Julie was even ALMOST as iconic as Zoryn was. Almost being the most important word here, of course.
It was then that the third year heard the voice belonging to the very person she was trying to avoid here. At this exact moment Zoryn decided to address Julie once again before dropping the chunky bag over her head, “Sos, hide me!”

Jonas' amused smirk only widened as she tried to hide herself.
"Why must you feel a need to avoid me Zor?" he asked.

If there was one thing that Xavieria had figured out, it was that there was definitely always someone to meet when there was food. Since she hadn't quite found her friends yet, she figured that this was as good a place as any, right? As to prove the assumption, she spotted a very familiar head of hair. "Hey Julie!" See? A dormmate! Food was a great way to find people.

Jonas raised his eyebrows as a random Slytherin girl walked to the food trolly not even noticing he was there. It was fine. What ever he had guessed.
"Being perceptive is waaay over rated," Jonas muttered out loud not letting the smirk leave his face.

THIS WAS IT.
The moment she had been waiting for! Nope. Not the sorting. The fooooood trolley! Somebody had told her all about it, and pretty much from that moment on, Maddie had been planning out her purchase of tasty treats. She half-skipped toward the trolley, only pausing when she saw a huuuuuge line of people ahead of her. There was a line?! And a big one at that?! What a letdown. When she'd planned out her purchases, she hadn't pictured having to wait four hundred years for them.
Reluctantly, she joined the waaaaaaaaay back of the line and immediately began shifting her weight from one foot to the other in anticipation. She was super short, but she peered this way and that to see if she could get a better look. Nooooope. No such luck. Maybe somebody would let her cut the line! Hmm...too bad she didn't know anybody to ask.
Her only worry now was that the candy would be all sold out by the time she reached the front of the line. OHHH, HURRY, HURRY, HURRRRRRRRY.

Scarlett wasn't usually much of a sweet tooth - except for cupcakes - but she was like TOTALLY craving a cauldron cake right now. Perhaps it was the post-OWL stress eating taking effect again. It was weird, instead of stressing FOR OWLs she had begun to stress AFTER it was all done - because like, what did she do NOW? Worry about NEWTs? Ugh, that was a whole year away.
Whistling happily, she got in line a particularly jumpy girl and raised a dark eyebrow. She just kept moving back and forth like it was life and death if she didn't get sugar NOWWW. Geez. These first years...
"Don't worry, there's plenty of candy to go around," she assured her with a chuckle.

The line was moving but Julie didn't notice. Who could have blamed her? There was a girl with a bag over her head and a boy who... Yeah, Julie was certain she had seen him around the common room but his name escaped her. Anyway, he happened along and seemed to believe (judging by his wording) that the girl with the bag over her head was in some sort of trouble- an outcome the older girl hadn't considered for a second. Kids, y'know? They did weird things. Julie most certainly had.
"Oh yeah, I know. Thanks." Julie said, beaming brightly and tossing back said hair. Okay, she did know this girl. Spinnet. A Gryffindor and a friend of Theo's which made her, quite naturally, a friend of Julie's. The hair comment certainly helped. She'd been about to ask a lot of questions, like: Why she was in a bag? Or why this boy seemed so seriously amused? Or why they hadn't moved up in line to grab their candy? Maybe this was all some third year thing she had missed out on. Like fighting your friends for boys or dying of heartache- lol, except the second thing had absolutely happened (shout out to Levi Kenning). Anyway, the point was that by the time Xavvie floated over Julie was fairly confused herself.
"Hey Xav. I have absolutely no idea what's happening here. It's too early, isn't it?" The brunette was torn herself between amusement and legitimate- concern? weariness? maybe she was just kind of creeped out by that Slytherin boy's ever present smirk and need to interject every five minutes. Julie didn't even spare him a solid glance. There must be a better way to do this. Something Sleeker than a yelled out SoS and a run for it, yeah? But Julie couldn't see how. The jig, as they said, was already up. Gryffindors, they couldn't even ghost someone properly. "Are you in line?"Julie asked, finally turning her green eyes to the boy." 'Cause, we're all in line and I don't take kindly to being cut in front of." Her tone was light, joke-y, but the point was there. Back of the line, lad.

Even though she was 99.9999% focused on the candy up ahead, Maddie was able to hear a little bit of the whistling sound behind her. Out of curiosity alone, she turned to see some older girl get in line behind her. Right as she turned around, the girl began reassuring, which meant she must be able to read minds really well! That was super cool! She'd known just what Maddie had been thinking even though nothing had been said out loud. "There is? Do you know for sure? Did you see them stock it?" she asked, lunging right into her usual stream of questions.
Not being able to help herself, Maddie turned back around and poked her head around the crowd. The line had only moved a little bit tiny bit. Somebody was being a slow poke up there! "What do you think's taking so long? Do you think some kid is taking their dear, sweet time? What if I went up there and suggested things for them? Do you think the line would move faster?" she asked. She needed answers!
Jonas' smirk faltered, a tint of red on his face, and he nodded. "Uh, sure," He said and got in line glancing back at Zoryn in the bag. Seriously? If she was really trying to ignore him, she should do a better job at it.
Welp, here was Matt, visiting the food trolley once more that day. Sharing your sweets with other people made them run out quicker, so he had to stock up again.
Yeah, yeah, he knew they were getting closer to Hogwarts and that the feast would be waiting for them and desserts and all that jazz, but STILL. He was going to get a load more of sweets just in case. Once could never have enough and who knows when their first Hogsmeade visit would be?
That's right. Matt was planning ahead. Forward thinking, it was called.
Anyway, he started exchanging his money for the goods and filling up his pockets as much as he could. Again.

Olivia had been avoiding trying to hit up the food trolley but it was inevitable. She always at least made one stop to the trolley per trip but it was always worth it. She wanted something salty and sweet. Now that could be two snacks right there. Maybe they had some cashews or something? OOh. That would totally hit that craving. She left her compartment and walked down a few paces to find a very familiar face waiting in line. Or well.. the back of his head. But she was fairly certain (like 99.001% certain) that this was Matt Merriweather Solo.
"Solo! Hey! Long time no see!" she called out to him with a wide grin. Merlin. She hadn't seen her housemate in ages. Vi wondered what he was going to purchase from the trolley. Peering around him, she noted that they did have cashews which made her only more happy. Then glancing back at Matt, she asked, "Stocking up on the goods?"

Matt turned his head to look who was talking to him, but he actually recognised the voice anyway. He grinned at his housemate. "'Sup, Holden; all good?" He asked, turning to make sure he was getting one of each sweet available.
"Of course! It's a must. I've lost count of how many times people ran out of sweets and I had to come to their rescue." He said, still filling his pockets. "You can never have enough of these lovelies." Matt briefly lifted samples of Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans and Cauldron Cakes, only because he didn't have enough hands to show her other samples. "But don't worry, I'll leave some for you." He added with a cheeky grin.

It was good to see a housemate and a friend. "Yeah all good. Glad to be back," she grinned. Vi was ready to get back to school. Seeing her housemate on the train was like prepping her for the big year ahead of them. Six year. Merlin. They had already reached it. "And you?"
A sweet savior was Matt, was he? "A sweet savior? You must be an expert... I now know who to contact if I run out of my sweets," she chuckled. And she watched him begin filling his pockets even more. Merlin. How full could he get those? She wondered. He must have had very deep pockets which was unfair because girl's pants barely had any pocket room. She watched as he showcased samples from Bertie Bott's and Cauldron Cakes. Classics to have. "Ah good, that would be great. I'm after some cashews and then something sweet... I just don't know what yet. What would you recommend, oh wise master of sweets?"

Scarlett mentally thanked Merlin that none of her younger siblings were this excitable - it had been like, a minute of hanging out with this girl, and she was already exhausted. She blinked at her non-stop stream of questions and then laughed. "No, buttttt the trolley has been operating for YEARS on the Express, they knew how much they need to keep in stock in order to assure everyone gets something," she told the girl. She assumed there was some sort of magical extension charm on the various compartments of the cart, but she didn't want to get THAT specific with the obvious first year.
She shook her head. "Nah, someone is probably just trying to find their money stuffed in their pockets," she assured her with a smile. She was too nice to tell her that offering up suggestions would probably just irritate some of their classmates. Especially some of the Slytherins. So grumpy.
"I'm Scarlett, by the way," she added, figuring that the LEAST she could do was chat with the girl and introduce herself. She reminded her a BIT of herself at that age. Just with a little more enthusiasm.
Erm...a LOT more enthusiasm.

The brunette was torn herself between amusement and legitimate- concern? weariness? maybe she was just kind of creeped out by that Slytherin boy's ever present smirk and need to interject every five minutes.

Zor did hear the confusion in Julie’s voice and would’ve spoken up to give an explanation, but currently she was very busy pretending that she wasn’t there so that Jonas would LEAVE. Who the heck invited him here anyways!?!?! Couldn’t a girl buy some licorice wands in peace!!!!! GEEZ.
The third year did, however, peak out of her bag!hat to smile at the pretty girl who had just joined them. How come there were so many Slytherins around? It made her feel slightly uncomfy. Of course that wasn’t the biggest issue here seeing as the most uncomfy part in this entire ordeal was the fact that Jonas was still present. A matter which Julie so bravely took into her own hands.
Zor would thank her later, probably.
Turning to the two girls, the third year spoke in a STAGE WHISPER, “He follows me EVERYWHERE!” She had lifted the bag at this point—the circulation in there was terrible—and glanced back at Jonas to make sure he wasn’t listening (which she couldn’t actually be sure of at any rate). “It’s sooooooooooooooooooo annoying.” The Gryffindor let out an exhausted, overdone sigh. “I need to stop being so lovable,” it was her only character flaw.

Why, oh, why he was here. Why? Really. It didn't make any sense to Nigel to be in line waiting for candy. He looked around questioning himself his life choices. There were a couple of kids but of course he knew NO ONE. Zero. Not that it was a tragedy to him tho, considering the fact that he was a new student. How sad was that? But blame it on his parents 'cause they didn't wanted to let him come two years ago, okey?
Breathe, Nigel, breathe.
But the question, the real question was: what are you doing waiting for the food trolley? First, he was not hungry. Or maybe a bit who knows, Nigel didn't even know either. And second, he hates candy. Not hate but he was definitely not a fan of sugary things.
Jonas found himself smiling again as he moved up in the line for candy.
"I don't follw you Zoryn, we just happen to be in the same place at the same time. Tell you what. Sense you are a third year, if you go to Hogsmede with me, I'll stop "following you" so much. Okay?"
Jonas knew it was a long shot but hey.
SPOILER!!: Zor

Steffie looked around, not wanting to sit down anywhere at the moment. She decided to go check out the food trolley because, yuuuuum... candy and sweets and all the good things. She searched through the cart, trying to figure out if she felt like chocolate or if she wanted jellybeans or even a lollipop. Steffie rocked on her heels. Being a first year,
she was a little excited to come to Hogwarts but she did miss her homeland already. She wondered if she could get some currywurst, blutwurst or schnitzel.

As she waited in line behind Matt, Olivia turned to glance over her shoulder to see that the line had grown quite a bit. Her eyes caught a boy that she had never seen before right behind her. Merlin. There were a lot of new students that she had met already. Vi glanced at the new boy. "Don't worry... The line will go by quickly."
"And I'm sure they'll be some left. Well probably not as many sweets... I won't take too many. I'm just after cashews or something salty," she offered him a smile. He was a bit old to be a first year but perhaps he was a third or fourth year.

Maddie raised her eyebrows as she considered what this older girl was saying. "But what if some kids buy more than other kids? Do they know that kind of stuff, too? What if I buy twenty-seven chocolate frogs, and they only thought I'd buy twenty-six?" she asked. "What then?" Hmm? Figure that one out! The line finally budged a bit, and Maddie skipped to her new place in line. "Hold my place!" she said to the older girl, and then she bounced out of line and began counting the people ahead of her.
"There's eleven people ahead of us! Well...twelve people in front of you," she declared. She passed the older girl a smile. "You're right, too. There's loads of candy left!" So the older girl's name was Scarlett. "Like the color! That's pretty cool!" she exclaimed. "I'm Maddie, and I'm going to be a first year. What year are you in? What house are you in? Have you gone to Hogwarts since you're first year? Do you like it there?" ...and there went another strong of questions.
Just then, the line moved again, and Maddie took another new place in line. Pretty soon, there were only five people ahead of her, and six people ahead of her new friend Scarlett. "Look, Scarlett! There's the candy!" she exclaimed. FINALLLLLLLLY. She was starting to think she'd turn into a skeleton before it'd be her turn at the trolley. She spun on her heels and faced Scarlett again. Soooo? The answers to all those questions?

Suspicion confirmed. Jonas was a boy with a deep crush and Spinnet was his unhappy crusher.. crushee? both, sure. Julie Bellaire being Julie Bellaire was now quite certain that stepping in had been the right thing. Honestly, what would anyone in this school without her to show them right and wrong? This was such a prefect point, someone tell Professor. Spinnet, ideally.
'course, all that campaigning was slashed out of her head when the Slytherin boy said something vaguely creepy. "Uhm, this isn't my business...." Julie began, arms crossed under her chest. "But, that's not really an appropriate way to ask someone out." She was older, and wiser, she would know.
