Drabble 1: Snowball

Whack!

The sound reverberated through the Ravenclaw Common room. The First years shrieked as they jumped up, startled after begin left out and ignored. Whack! Another loud bang sounded, this time from the window. Getting up, the bravest First year walked up unsteadily towards the window, snow gently filling the crevice and looked out.

"They're throwing snowballs at us!" He called out, grinning as the others converged around him. Suddenly, without warning the window sprung open and a medium sized snowball smacked the boy in the face.

He stood there, snow dripping off his chin as the other laughed joyfully.

It was an unusually warm spring day outside and the windows to the Ravenclaw Common Room were open and young Luna Lovegood was sitting twiddling her thumbs gazing outside at the butterflies. She was by herself, which she preferred so she could look through her old books and try to find a Crumpled Horn Snorkack.

She peered out the window again and thought she saw something flutter past, and for no reason whatsoever began to yodel…loudly. The room burst into hysterical laughter and she turned, grinning,

"How else do you expect to find a Crumpled Horn Snorkack?" she asked innocently.

All was quiet inside the Ravenclaw Common Room as the House-elf walked inside and picked up the broom, wanting to clean quickly. She didn't like this place, it was creepy at night. Sweeping up the clutter left over by a first year she scoffed at the mess, wondering how those Ravenclaws were smart if they didn't clean up after themselves.

She whirled around, thinking she heard a noise and was about to Apparate out when she sighed. No one was there; they were all sleeping. With a nod, she snapped her fingers, watching as all the mess disappeared and left.

A shout was heard from the stairs leading to the girls' dormitory and two third years ran down, glaring at each other. The crowd of first years, studying for their History of Magic final turned their heads and watched apprehensively as they argued.

"I tell you it can't happen!" one girl said defiantly.

"I tell you it can! It is possible!" the other shouted back angrily.

The first girl shook her head sadly. "Fine, if you think gorillas can tap dance on the moon, you're crazier than Looney Lovegood!" she said, before stomping off as the room burst into laughter.

The bell rang for the afternoon classes to begin and Myrtle, a shy young girl of 13 ran to grab her Herbology book before she was extremely late. Her glasses glinted in the snow outside the closed window as she turned, thinking she heard a voice behind her. Shrugging it off, she dashed upstairs to the girl's dorm and picked up her books, running back and snuffing out the fire for good measure. Holding on to her bag so it wouldn't drop, she ran towards the door and closed it behind her, heading off for class. How she hated Herbology.

Transfiguration was one of the favorites of Most Ravenclaws, and they often sat in the Ravenclaw Common Room attempting the complicated spells. One night, a burly Seventh year sat twirling his wand, muttering incantations, when something happened. Myrtle, who was looking over her Potions homework suddenly turned into a Duck.

"Quack?" she asked, her beady eyes glinting in the candlelight. She began to waddle for a few minutes around the room as everyone laughed. The Seventh year, who had tears of mirth coming from his eyes, flicked his wand.

Myrtle stood there quacking before running from the room suddenly embarassed.

The Ravenclaw Common Room was bustling with students preparing for their Muggle Studies examination. Stacks of magazines could be seen tottering on the edge of chairs and tables, while they prepared. A young boy, who looked no older than 13 asked,

"What's the function of a rubber duck?"

The crowd went silent as they thought of the answer before the answer came,

"It's a duck which swims in the bathtub with you." A girl replied in a shy voice, frowning slightly. The room roared with laughter as she scurried towards her books and hid behind them blushing. "Sorry." She muttered.

ZAP!

The sounds reverberated through the empty room of the Ravenclaw common room. The lone figure stood hidden in the shadows, holding their wand as a House-elf appeared in the room, searching for something. Smoke seemed to engulf the elf as he walked towards the fireplace, putting out the glowing embers.

The elf stopped suddenly, looking in the shadows, as if knowing the figure was there. Walking up gingerly, he sniffed the air but shook his large head and apparated out. The figure walked out of the shadows and grinned.

"Way too cool." She whispered her eyes aglow with wonder.

The firecracker bounced happily around the Common Room as onlookers clapped and cheered. It was the night of rebellion and everyone was doing their part to annoy the hated professor. Bangs could be heard as the firecrackers exploded in brilliant bursts of light. It was nearing midnight and no one was sleeping as the noise of the bangs kept them up.

"This is awesome!" Cried Roger Davies as he watched a dragon sized firecracker zoom in through the window. He ducked his head as the dragons soared out the window again, laughing as the sparks landed on him without burning.

The sound of laughter echoed noisily throughout the Ravenclaw Common Room as Myrtle sat there, covered in sticky sap. She had been doing her homework like a good little Ravenclaw when suddenly she felt something sticky drip into her long brown hair.

"Olivia!" she cried out, her eyes sparkling with unshed tears.

"Oh, give it up Myrtle it was just a joke!" Olivia said, grinning widely. The other Ravenclaws howled with laughter as the sticky stink sap dribbled over her cheeks.

Myrtle glowered at the girl who had treated her horribly for the past year and stomped out utterly humiliated.

Luna walked into the Common Room, expecting there to be no one around, due to the face that the term had officially ended. Unfortunately the boy she didn't like very much was sitting there, gazing out the window gloomily. Thinking she'd be nice she walked over and poked him.

"You saw a Blibbering Humdinger didn't you?" she asked conversationally.

The boy jumped, screamed and ran from the room. Luna looked at his retreating back and scratched her head.

"Why do they always run when I ask them that?" she wondered aloud, shrugged and sat down, looking for the Blibbering Humdinger.

"Have you ever wondered what our future holds?" Cho asked no one in particular as she gazed out the window of the common room. No one replied of course; since the events of the Triwizard Tournament she had been left alone. She didn't like being alone, even Harry, who had gone out with her once had left her. She felt despondent though.

Sighing she quietly walked over to the window and looked out at the night sky. Cedric was up there now she thought with a sniff as she dried her tears on her sleeve. Cedric, her one true love.

"She seems lonely."

"Why don't you go over there and talk to her?"

The girl shrugged turning back to look out the window. Snow was falling gently over the grounds, and it was bitterly cold, even with the fire blazing. The girl turned back, looking at Cho over by the corner, sniffing back tears. Her present looked bleak she thought sadly as she walked over.

"Mind if I join you?" She asked sitting down beside her. Without thinking, she wrapped a comforting arm around Cho, not caring if she wanted to be alone or not. Everyone needs friends after all.

Looking back now the past seemed like a distant memory, a long dream m finally ending. Never ending feelings over swept Luna as she walked into the Ravenclaw Common Room one last time in search of her missing articles of clothing. One more term and I'll be free she thought as she climbed the steps, tripping over her robes in the process. Getting up quickly, she dashed the rest of the way, opening the door.

Running over to her bed, she threw back the covers and found her radish earrings. "Yes!" she cried out, dancing down the stairs in glee.

Penelope sat alone in the common room, bored out of her mind. The sounds of exploding snap could be heard through the room as she twiddled her thumbs. Suddenly, out of nowhere a spell was cast and Penelope found herself up on a table tap dancing as she began to yodel…loudly.

The room began to throb with hysterical laughter as she danced along the table, her black hair swirling around her. Finally the spell wore off, but Penelope continued to yodel. Hey, it was the most funs she's had in years, so why not she figured as she yodeled louder.

Hexes were hitting the floor, making Roger look like he was dancing on the spot. It was dueling practice in the common room and Roger began to roar with laughter. Ducking as a Rictumsempra spell missed him by inches, he whirled around, throwing his body to the floor as he cast the Bat boogey Hex, watching as the spell hit his opponent.

"Yes!" He cried out as the boy fell to his knees chuckling. Walking over to the boy, he grinned took off the Hex and said,

"Want to go again?"

The boy looked at him and shook his head.

Roger was angry, angrier than he had been in his life. It was a few hours after the Quidditch finial, and even though they had won he was still angry. He threw off his Quidditch gear, pulling on his normal robes before going back to the common room and slouching into a chair. He had been looking forward to going against Harry, but he had been in the Hospital wing.

Sighing, and not wanting to talk to anyone, Roger got up and walked to the fire, thinking perhaps we'll challenge each other next year. With those comforting thoughts he smiled.

Ancient Runes was over and Penelope hurried into the Ravenclaw Common room ready to finish her homework so she could sneak out and spend some alone time with her boyfriend, Percy, who had been almost begging to take her to Hogsmead that weekend. Her brow furrowed slightly as she remembered her past experiences in Hogsmead and she wondered if she could cancel saying how she wasn't feeling well. No, he'd just make her go to Madam Pomfrey. Sighing in resignation she put her books away, got up and made her way to the Prefects Bathroom, hoping for a bath first.

The stars twinkled merrily down from the open window of the Ravenclaw common room and Cho sighed, almost wishing upon one as it blew past. Her Astronomy homework sat beside her untouched as she looked for Jupiter's moons through her telescope. She knew she'd get into trouble for not doing it properly but she didn't care. She only cared about the Triwizard tournament and the last task, she prayed things would work out, yet she had this nagging suspicion something would happen. If the stars showed anything at all they showed danger and she was concerned over Cedric and Harry.

Divination; one of the most horrid subjects at Hogwarts was the one class that Ravenclaw students disliked most, yet there they were heads buried in their books in the Common Room, reading up on the subject, homework beside them. Cho sat there watching them, shaking her head glad she hadn't taken the subject. She never wanted to know about Divination, it was so dull! Suddenly one of the kids broke out into tears of frustration and she chuckled. Getting up, she handed the girl a chocolate frog and peaked at the work. Dream diaries, interesting she thought walking back grinning.

Roger watched as Hagrid walked back to his cabin after Care of Magical Creatures class ended and the students went back to their common room, the Ravenclaws talking excitedly about the class. He missed the sign up for the class last term and wished he hadn't it sounded so interesting, especially the Nifflers, boy he wished he had one of those right now.

He looked across the room as a boy talked animally about the class his hands flying through the air and began laughing, why he didn't know. Slowly he stopped laughing once he realized everyone was watching him.

The boy walked into the Ravenclaw common room, his robes steaming at the edges where something had hit. Penelope frowned, getting up as he walked by and sat down.

"What's wrong?" she asked, handing him a handkerchief.

The boy sniffed once more and dabbed his eyes, blushing horribly. "I had an accident in Potions."

"I'm sure it wasn't that bad." She replied calmly.

He cried harder at this and she reached out, taking his shoulder in her hand.

"Professor Snape called me something." He whispered.

She was about to ask what, but then thought better of it, hugging him instead.

"Repello!" the boy shouted, blocking the spell from coming near him.

It was nighttime at Hogwarts and the Ravenclaw Common Room was packed with students watching the two duelers practice for their Defense against the Dark Arts exam the next day.

"Great job Marty!" the girl called out clapping happily as he took a small bow, just as the Bat Bogey hex hit him. Bat sized boogey started attacking him and he jumped around waving his hands.

"Always watch your back." His friend reminded him, taking the hex off.

He nodded, his breath coming in small gasps as he frowned.

Luna walked in whistling merrily as she sat by the fireplace, pulling out her Arithmancy book. She was only taking this class because her father wanted her too; she hated it personally, but what could she do. Pulling out her notebook she began to sketch, her blonde hair falling into her face.

"Hey Luna." Roger said, walking in and waving as he passed.

Luna waved back smiling and turned back to her drawing of the Crumple Horn Snorkack. It looked pretty good too she thought. Suddenly she sneezed and jumped up looking around. Not seeing anything she sat back down.

"How charming." The girl said, pulling out her dragonhide gloves and wrinkling her nose at her friend. "We have to wear these?" She asked.

"Yup, for Care of Magical Creatures class and other classes." Her friend replied.

They were sitting in the common room, birds chirping merrily outside. It was a gorgeous day but since they had homework were sitting inside, being kids.

"Eww." She giggled, throwing them back in her friend's bag.

"Yeah, well what can you do." Her friend replied shrugging. She looked out the window and sighed,

"Come on, let's finish." She said, pointing to their work.
