| | |  First-Floor Corridor
 To get to History of Magic, or Muggle Studies, one will have to make use of the first floor corridor. Getting here is usually relatively easy if you're coming from one of the lower levels of the castle as you need only deal with the moving staircases for just a few minutes. Rugs with intricate patterns have been placed on the floor to soften your footsteps so that any learning going on inside the classrooms isn't disturbed.
Make sure you are not dilly dallying on your way to or from class. This corridor in particular is often times filled with students during the school day and a few professors pointing those who have managed to get lost in the right direction. Various doors flank this corridor, so make sure to memorize which of the portraits are outside of the classrooms you should be entering. And don't freak out when the corridor comes to a sudden halt -- the door at the end of the hallway will take you outside to the stone bridge and then to the rest of the first floor over in the next tower. Just keep moving!

Norman came to a halt in the middle of the corridor, looking behind him to make sure the students were still following. Although he’d paused to allow time for everyone to catch up to him, his mind was still going, formulating a plan. This was going to be like looking for a needle in a haystack. Peeves could be anywhere! The only thing to do was systematically search every floor, room by room until they found him. And if all else failed, they could try luring him with the opportunity to curse one of the only unaffected people left in the school!
“We’ll start with this floor and work our way up,” he instructed the group. An idea occurred to him, and he added, “If we find any of the school ghosts, maybe they can help us.”

Kennedy had remained behind, just enough to make sure the students were between him and Carton. A way of keeping track of them, and Peeves, should he have chosen to swoop in from behind. “They would most likely know his whereabouts,” Kennedy said, agreeing with Carton.
Green eyes surveyed the corridor for anything that stood out or didn’t seem right. One could never be sure Peeves will just calmly come to them. No. In fact…
An idea came to Kennedy. “Peeves thrives on chaos, does he not? He loves to cause it.” Clearly. “What could attract his attention? Perhaps a calm corridor filled with calm students and professors?” Could the students do that? Pretend like everything was okaaaaaaaay and zen? While they waited for ghosts to appear. Or Peeves.
Hmmm?

Caes was here as a part of the group. Somehow he had managed to avoid most of the hi-jinks with the exception of his sister's powers taking over when the mail came in out of her control. The sooner this could be taken care of, the more normal(?) their day could turn out.
He listened as the two Professors theorized the plan, "Should we act... natural, sir?" Caes asked. Though how much more natural could they act as in a group. He looked around at any others with them.

Rajesh followed along with Carton and the group, hanging back so as to lessen the risk of tripping anyone who might follow him with the puddles. When the head of house paused and explained the start of his plan, the sixth year nodded in understanding as they looked around. And the flying instructor had a good idea. Peeves was either in the center of chaos or heading to someplace that was the exact opposite to turn it into a mess of his own creation.
“The library…?” Nothing said quiet like following the rules of the grand library and letting everyone study to the sound of their own thoughts. And there was certainly a lot of things...books....maps...papers....that could be messed with to cause trouble.

Ash had elected to go with the indoors group, mostly based off of Professor Carton being one of her favorite teachers. She quietly trailed after them, listening, deep blue flowers following her. "Being natural might attract Peeves. Not necessarily calm, but just how we are regularly." Some people's natural state wasn't very calm at all. "We could pretend like nothing is amiss. That might set him off, knowing we notice the powers but don't care or find them particularly interesting." | |

'Here we come Peeves, I wonder if lightning hurts poltergeists.' mumbled to himself silently Luther while walking in the corridor. "How can one find something that can fly and as erratic as Peeves, though?" he mused but he carried on checking the empty classrooms hoping he could catch the poltergeist doing whatever it does when it isn't causing problems for anyone included. Remembering Professor Carton's idea, he decided to be vigilant for any signs of the castle ghosts.

Norman’s aquamarine eyes darted about the corridor, both searching for Peeves and taking stock of how many people had followed him. Searching the entire castle was going to be a big job for such a small group, maybe too big! Too many floors, too many rooms, and not enough time… there had to be another way!
While he showed no outward reaction to the ideas being bandied about, he heard and considered all of them. Maybe there was a way to combine all of them. His mind was going a million miles an hour. Escalante had the right idea in baiting Peeves with an environment ripe for chaos, and Atreyu-Rehman was on to something too. Maybe not the library itself, but a quiet environment like a library could work. Starriver’s idea got a slight smile. “That’s an idea,” he replied. “Hold on to that thought for now.” They could always use that as a back-up plan.
For now, he turned to Escalante. “Good idea,” he said. “It’ll save a lot of time if we can get him to come to us …” And time was a huge factor here! Every minute they had to spend looking for Peeves was another minute these students (and some professors) stayed cursed.
He nodded at Hawkins and Fox. “Though I think acting natural is best,” he replied. “If we appear too calm, it might tip him off.” The last thing he wanted was for Peeves to figure out their plan and not take the bait!
“I don’t know if it’s necessary to go all the way to the library,” he mused out loud, turning to Atreyu-Rehman. “What if we stage an impromptu study session right here in the corridor? Quiet environment, focused students… I doubt Peeves would be able to resist such an opportunity, especially if it comes with the potential to hit an unaffected professor.” He was more than willing to offer himself as bait if it meant putting an end to this!
Thank Merlin Professor Escalante didn’t follow Professor Hernandez’s group! Desiree thought as she joined the others. Granted, she would’ve followed wherever the flying professor led, but she felt better about their chances with two professors she trusted present. She blinked confusedly. Why was everyone standing around talking?! Talk was cheap; they needed to act! She could turn back into a teddy rat at any moment, and she’d like to make some progress before that happened!
Wasting no time, she opened the door to the nearest room and began searching, though she was careful to stay within earshot of the rest of the group so she’d know what the plan was. Suddenly a thought occurred to her. What if she turned into a wombat again while the others were trying to attract Peeves? That could ruin everything! She’d never forgive herself if Peeves got away because of her! Rejoining the others, she looked to Professor Escalante and asked, “What happens if I turn into a wombat again? I doubt that would make for a very calm environment…” Should she go search somewhere else?
