| h: 350 / m: 350 / f: 25 Dani's Citrus Duck Spawn | Mama Giraffe | Lemon PATch | Pushed the Red Button Of course. It was his luck that he'd be up against a seventh year in the first round, and even more wonderful that it was the Head Girl.
Sure, Dima knew what he was doing but.... not THAT much.
He was planning to give her a run for her galleons at the very least, though. An extra year of magical education on him? It'd be a challenge, that much he knew, and the sixth year definitely didn't mind those. The entire way down to the first floor, he pep-talked himself. Had this! Yeah!
When he entered the room for his duel, Dmitriy wasn't exactly ready, but it was as ready as he'd ever be. "Good luck." All in good fun, yes? After bowing, he immediately raised his wand and cast a standard Knockback Jinx at her, wasting no time. "Flipendo!"
Waiting was for the ones with better plans, and he had none, clearly.

| H: 400, m: 400, f: 25 YesJess! | Captain Goggles | Mama Badger | Eva's Soul Sister | An OG™ | It's all in the Numbers Tia didn't know why she was nervous. She was older than Dima by a year, but maybe it was the fact that he was always so quiet which made her nervous. She was quiet and reserved too, but not like Dima. He always seemed focused on his studies and maybe it was that in part which made her worried that somehow he'd read some super secret and awesome ninja dueling technique that she didn't know about.
Breathe. She would give it her all and wouldn't go easy just because he was in her house and younger than her. Just like she hoped he wouldn't go easy on her for being a girl.
Bowing to him in polite dueling fashion upon entering the dueling arena, she returned his 'good luck' with a "Ditto" and not taking her eyes off of him was about to cast the disarming charm when she felt herself be knocked down. For someone who barely spoke, he was quick at the tongue. She thought about slowing down his tongue with a babbling curse or langlock, but instead recalled something else she read about. Though it was most effective on creatures, she knew that the eyes were vulnerable and thus wasted little time with a counter. "Conjunctivitis!"

| h: 350 / m: 335 / f: 25 Dani's Citrus Duck Spawn | Mama Giraffe | Lemon PATch | Pushed the Red Button Merlin. There it was— the Ravenclawish sort of stuff he'd been expecting from the likes of Tia. What kind of person would be trying to give him pink eye?
The devious ones. He was dueling such a student, apparently.
Dima was quick on his feet, and it would have been smartest just to dodge the curse she'd sent his way, but he panicked. A shield. A shield would be the safe, right? "Protego!" Mancini's aim was perfect, because her spell hit the invisible layer exactly where his face would have been if not for the extra protection. He'd seemingly cast a pretty powerful charm; the Conjunctivitis Curse bounced off the magical barrier between them and back to her.
Uh.... would that work?
Hopefully. If so, that would be GREAT.

| H: 380, m: 387, f: 25 YesJess! | Captain Goggles | Mama Badger | Eva's Soul Sister | An OG™ | It's all in the Numbers Well of course, she hadn't been just expecting him to just take the eye pain spell. She should have shot two spells at him because the chance of actually getting him hit with one of them might have been successful. But no, he had to go and put up a shield charm to deflect her own spell back at her. Thinking quick, she ducked to the ground to let the spell fly overhead and dissipate into nothingness. Last thing she needed was to be blinded.
Ducking down was enough to concentrate on more curses to use against Dmitriy. "Everte Statum!" she cast, raising her wand up from the ground, and for good measure and also kind of because it'd be funny, she threw in a Ears to Kumquats curse followed immediately with the Jelly-Fingers Curse.
She just hoped they'd be effective this time. But surely he couldn't block everything, right?

| h: 350 / m: 320 / f: 25 Dani's Citrus Duck Spawn | Mama Giraffe | Lemon PATch | Pushed the Red Button Three at once. Dima managed to jump out of the way of her Everte Statum spell, and he threw up a shield to avoid the others. Unfortunately, he was only fast enough for the magical barrier to defend and reflect back the Jelly-Fingers Curse. Tia's Ears to Kumquats spell hit him full on, and suddenly Dima couldn't hear anymore.
.... well. Wasn't like he needed his ears right now anyway, was it? She was still in his line of sight, and it wasn't necessary to know what spells were coming his way if he could see her lips moving and notice light coming from her wand. In the case of nonverbals, they weren't even helping.
Instead of using his wand to counter the spell affecting his hearing aids, he chose to counter attack instead, so she'd have her rebounded Jelly-Fingers curse as well as a new problem coming her way. First, he cast a Disillusionment Charm on himself so she couldn't see him, and then Dima moved quickly and surely to the other side of the mat to cause some confusion. It was from his new position that he shot a, "Slugulus Eructo!" spell at her.

| H: 380, m: 363, f: 20 YesJess! | Captain Goggles | Mama Badger | Eva's Soul Sister | An OG™ | It's all in the Numbers Judging from his previous decision to counter spells with a shield charm, Tia had figured her two offensive spells might be countered as such. Which was why she cast up a "Protego" just as a precedent to defend against any returned spells. Because last thing she wanted was to not be able to hear or hold her wand. Which worked for defending against the jelly fingers curse, but her kumquat spell hit Dmitriy full on and she might have been mildly amused for a moment at his ears, before he disappeared. Uh what? Oh, disillusionment. Why didn't she think of that? See, it WAS the quiet ones that one needed to be fearful of.
Looking all around and trusting her hearing for where Dmitriy was in the room, she frowned when she couldn't find him and just as she cast "Finite Incantatem" to end all spells in her vicinity - which would surely make Dmitriy visible again, except she heard the slug vomiting incantation and felt a slug coming up her esophagus. Ugh, gross. And there's another one. And another.... and she was crouched over, just practically letting them walk out of her mouth to let the jinx run its course.

| h: 345 / m: 240 / f: 20 Dani's Citrus Duck Spawn | Mama Giraffe | Lemon PATch | Pushed the Red Button He saw Tia's mouth moving, but his ears were still kumquats, so Dima had no idea what she'd cast until.... he could see his legs again. He could see his legs again? Already? She'd not even let him feel cool and smart and invisible for even a while?
Rude, Head Girl. Hmph. What a waste of a spell.
But apparently his other ones had done their jobs well, because Mancini was doubled over and retching slugs. Son of a garden gnome. Had he done that? The sixth year felt a little guilty and a lot ungentlemanly watching gastropod after gastropod pour out of her mouth (not to mention, ew), but... it was a duel, right? All fair? This was okay? He could get her mouthwash and ice cream afterwards?
If he remembered correctly, she'd be doing this for ten minutes. That gave him a huge window of opportunity, and it would be nice if he could finish off this duel cleanly in the meantime. Not even a minute into her vomiting, Dima was already casting on her. "Incarcerous. Expelliarmus." The second was aimed at her wand, intending to disarm and not throw her back. He'd done enough harm to her already, surely.

| urine trouble | Pat's Strong Confident Other Half | Pees Like a Champion Unicorn Racehorse Truth be told, this was a duel the man was highly looking forward to, even if there was every chance that Mr Toussaint could hate him for pairing him up with someone older than him. And the Head Girl too, no doubt. Talk about pressure.
But the ball started rolling and, to be honest, Hirsch was getting more and more impressed. He'd forgotten all about refereeing this and started to enjoy the duel like any other spectator would. It was intense and full of complex spells and various twists and turns. Merlin, what more could you want in a duel?
Pity that it had to be over.
When the time struck, the man struck up that shield again so that Dima's Incarcerous and Expelliarmus spells disappeared before hitting Miss Mancini. Probably lucky for Miss Mancini who had still been belching up slugs. Blegh! Nearing the two Ravenclaws, he flicked his wand and let all the effects still in place disappear. No more slugs, thankfully. "That was an excellent duel! Really well done to both of you." Turning to Dima, he added in, "Merlin, I didn't expect that kind of sneaky tactics from you." Except, he wasn't judging. Instead, he had an impressed smile on his face.
Anyways. "Congratulations on your win, Mr Toussaint. And well done, Miss Mancini. Keep it up!" Stats: Dmitriy Toussaint: 82.4% TiaMarie Mancini: 79.43%
