The Ministry of Magic Placement
SnitchSeeker prides itself on its Ministry of Magic RPG and job placement process. You won't find it duplicated anywhere else on the internet and it is not automated, instead every single placement application submitted by our members is hand-sorted by our
Ministry RPG Admin and the
department heads. While this means that your results are not immediate, it also means that you will get a far more accurate and personalised result, and the anticipation is fun too!
All Ministry placement questionnaires should be filled out in character (IC) only, that is, from perspective of your intended Ministry RPG character. Your adult character is applying for a job, this is
not an application for an out of character (OOC) position or title.
We also offer an opportunity to play a second ministry character after you have spent a term or so with us. Read below for more information on the placement process and having a second character.
Ministry Placement dates are as follows:
FALL: October 1-15
WINTER: February 1-15
SPRING/SUMMER: June 1-15;
___________ To be placed in a job within the Ministry of Magic RPG you need to be a member and have at least ten legitimate posts.
(Please don't spam out of Newbie status just to join the Ministry -your posts WILL be deleted and your character WILL NOT be given a job until you make your legitimate Newbie posts.. You can read more about the newbie process here)
The Ministry Placement Quiz opens for all members during the month after the Hogwarts sorting closes. This means that if you miss out on the sorting, you still have an opportunity to join our Wizarding World RPG in some way. It is very labour intensive for the department heads and the ministry admin to run the Ministry Placement, so we only run it every 3 months or so. This also means that new MoM employees can be better integrated and more fun RPG plots can be played out during the intervening time.
When the ministry placement opens, a news article will be posted. The article will provide you with a direct link to the quiz. You will need to come up with a character BEFORE you take the placement quiz, as the job you are given will be based on the qualifications, interests, age and experience of your character! To reiterate, the quiz should be filled out IC from your character's point of view, not from your own point of view.
It takes a little longer to place members in jobs than what it does to do the house sorting. The first stage of the process sees the ministry administrator (currently sweetpinkpixie) place your character in a department, at which stage the department head will place your character into a specific job. You may hear from your department head before the specific job is confirmed, but in general you can expect it to take at least a week and up to two to be placed in the perfect job.
You will be contacted via a PM with your character's placement, and your department head will personally help you get settled in.
Remember that our placement quiz is not automated. This means that your answers are reviewed individually by our Ministry of Magic administrator and the department heads, and your responses are taken into account. Do be sure to read the questions carefully as you can only take the quiz once per placement. The more detail you give, the easier it is!
In addition to the news article to announce the Ministry of Magic RPG placement, a site notice or announcement will be posted, so you won't miss it. It will be open for approximately two weeks and you can fill out the quiz at any time during this period. If you have questions you are more than welcome to contact a Department Head. or sweetpinkpixie directly.
___________
Playing a Second Character in the Ministry RPG
The Ministry of Magic RPG allows two characters at a time. Once you have experienced a term or so with your initial character, you have the option of bringing in a second character, and you are also able take the placement quiz again the NEXT time it opens with a new character to replace one that hasn't quite clicked for you if you choose. There is no guarantee which department you'll end up in, but you can easily influence this if you give your application and your character's work experience some thought.
You can also have your character apply for a job change if you wish to keep the same character but switch to a different department. Keep in mind however, that they would still need the right kind of experience for this sort of transfer to be granted, just like in real life.
We also provide an overview of which types of jobs are currently available and most in demand for each department, which is worth looking at if you are thinking about trying something new. This list is available will be linked within the article announcing the Placement.
You can see an example application and read more about the Ministry Placement in a previous announcement here.
