Just outside the entrance to the Hogwarts Quidditch Stadium is a rundown building. This is where students and staff may store their personal brooms (make sure to use an Intruder Charm) and also where the school-owned brooms are stored. As you approach the shed, you notice a sign hanging on the door:
Quote:
No first year is allowed to have a broom at Hogwarts.
Quidditch equipment is NOT to be touched without express permission from Professor Tyner.
Once inside, you will see a shelf directly in front of you on which you can find various tools to keep your broom in tip-top shape. Tail-twig clippers, Fleetwood's polish, and a pile of rags are among the options you will see.
Robin made sure to get the most stable broom she could find in the shed- although really didn't know what counted as stable exactly...
as she grabbed the broom and ran out of the shed her heart was leaping this is it Robin... just remember not to look down... if you even get up in the first place.
This would be her mantra
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
Why weren't first years allowed to have their own brooms huh? What a stupid rule! Not that he actually had a broom at home but still...stupid rule. Kevin reached the broomshed and searched for a good broom to use. Although, he didn't know which broom would be good. He checked the tails of a few brooms and picked out the one that looked the best. He wondered what kind of broom it was as he picked it up and left the broomshed to go to the first flying lesson.
Well, a flying lesson. That was new, Leah thought, as she made her way to the broomshed. She had heard rumors that school brooms were not good and they kicked anyone near them. Why weren't first years not allowed their own brooms? Leah never asked this to her dad before as she did not want an hour-long lecture about safety.
After making sure that none of the broomsticks harmed humans, Leah approached the brooms more closely. She kicked, pocked, patted and even wriggled her finger at the brooms and finally chose one that looked in better condition than the others. Then carrying the broom safely in one hand, Leah rushed out into the grounds. She could not wait for her very first flying lesson!

Grace was still kind of bummed that she couldn't have her own broom. It was a silly rule, but one that had to be listened too. So she didn't have her own broom. Her mom probably couldn't afford one anyway, so that was the end of that. The slytherin beamed to herself as she hurried down to the broomshed. She was so excited for the lesson. She loved flying. She did spend at least 5 minutes in the shed, picking out her broom. She wanted to make sure that it was okay, and good, and that it wouldn't break. Finally she was happy with her selection, and excited the broomshed.

Altair went to the broomshed. It was very exciting to see the different types of brooms. Even though a lot of them seemed very used, he was excited at picking one out. Out of the corner of his eyes he saw one with gleaming red letters with the feeble word "Firebolt" written on the handle, followed by a number he couldn't quite make out. It looked to be in tip top shape underneath some of the other brooms. He picked the other ones up and lined them up neatly until he finally got to the broom of his choose. "Brilliant," he whisped as he took it carefully in his hands. He examined the fine broom, as it smelled of fresh lacquer and pine. He smiled, and then made his way to the stadium.

I usually like to keep to myself. Hopefully, all that is about to change.
Gwen's first thought when she finally found the broomshed was "does Mo not know this is here?" because he had given up his broom, and they had shared when Mo was coaching them. She looked at all of the magnificent flying machines. Which should she choose? She looked at every single broom before finally deciding on one. It was the straightest and the shiniest. It in hand, she headed back to her first official flying lesson.
Bri nearly ran to the broomshed, to pick out a broom, so she can learn to fly...finally. She glanced around before pick out one that didn't look to old. She grabbed and left the shed, and headed out to the Quidditch patch almost skipping due to her excitement
Brynn had a vague clue about where things were around the pitch having been here once before and it wasn't much of a problem locating the broomshed. Once inside, she noticed a few others her age obviously here for the same reason. She managed a smile for anyone who looked her way and waited until there was a space for her to approach the cluster of school brooms.
She stood in front of the selection, brown eyes scanning her choices. She had no clue about what would make a decent broom or not and they all looked the same anyway. The eleven year old stuck out her hand and grabbed the nearest one. Broomstick in hand, Brynn headed out of the broomshed, heading for flying class.

Josette made her way towards the broomshed after she'd seen the sign posted by the Professor. They apparently were supposed to go to the broomshed & grab a broom before they did anything else. She opened the door to the broomshed taking a step inside & found herself surrounded a by a large number of brooms neatly piled together. The first year took a moment to glance over each broom as she tried to decide on which one she should pick.
It was when her blue eyes settled on a particular broom in the corner did a small smile come across her lips. This broom looked very nicely shaped & she felt it would probably be the best one to suffice her needs. So with some shuffling in the shed & maneuvering, her tiny hands grabbed onto her chosen broom & she was soon seen running out of the shed back towards the Professor with the rest of the class.
He picked up his broom and started to head out like everyone else, but continued to listen to the fallen girl. "Just you come from muggles right?" Altair was pretty sure about his assumption. "You just seem to be willing to jump right into things. How are you so sure any of this is safe?"
Altair nodded about her talk about planes. He of course knew everything about them. His papa was a pilot after all. He walked along side her as they headed back to the broomshed. "I'm in Hufflepuff," he answered. "It's just, well, I'm not completely understanding all of this. I had no signs of having magic and then one day I get this letter telling me I'm a wizard and my whole world is turned upside down." It was obvious that Altair wasn't the first one to go through this unknown capability, but he was struggling with understanding and accepting it. Why was he chosen? It was kind of like some of the superheroes he read about, but the troubles they faced along the way was terrifying. He wasn't ready for such a path. So far, the discovery seemed more of a burden than a blessing.
Walking up the hill toward the broomshed Robin tried to keep the broom from dragging on the grass, her robes swishing as they trudged onward. She slowly nodded at his correct assumptions "Yeah both muggles" She confirmed and continued stumbling towards the shed keeping pace with the boy. "I'm not sure it's safe exactly, but I just tell myself to be careful and if I get hurt it's my fault for not being careful" She didn't think that made much sense so she tried to rephrase "Like I'm sure if it wasn't safe they wouldn't have us do it, and if every other first year in the school can do it so can I, I just learn the basics in the safest way I can- no broken bones, no foul" She grinned at his house mention. "Well you are the first Hufflepuff I have met yet so congratulations!" She gave a thumbs up "I'm in Gryffindor, oh my names Robin by the way" she couldn't believe she had gone that long without introducing herself it was rude of her. She nodded with understanding at the boys story, she didn't have any major magical signals either, just unusually good luck in dodgeball when a ball came flying toward her face and mysteriously missed. Of course no one (not even she) ever noticed. "I think you're feeling a little scared and intimidated" She said boldly, trying not to pry. "But you should know that you won't disappoint anyone or be disappointed yourself if you try your best, that's all you really can do. If you don't try your best that's what you will really regret. You'll never know if you don't try, and if you don't try you automatically fail" She mused. It was similar to what her grandmother had told her before she left, as long as she did her best she could be proud.

Tiara arrived in the broomshed with a box under her arm. Overflowing its edges were several pairs of tail-twig clippers, large containers of Fleetwood's handle polish, several brand new polishing cloths, and a few other random tools. She was hopeful that with the bright, sunny day they were having, a few students with free time would show up to help her refurbish the school brooms. Ever since the school had reclaimed what they goblins had repossessed, Tiara had noticed that the brooms were in less than tip-top condition. But as the Quidditch season was upon them, it really was time for that to change.
She set down the box and pulled down the nearest broom. It was time to get to work.

'Course Alice was there. She wasn't eager to be helpful in most all situations, but anything involving Quidditch had the seventh year's attention in a heartbeat. Including broom refurbishment.
"Hi professor." Merlin, those things looked dingy. Beautiful, but dingy. How did anyone even ride them? Alice found herself mentally thanking the Quidditch gods that she had her own broom by now. "Whatcha need help with?" Polishing? Clipping? Getting the most hideous of the sports quipment out of her sight? Tyner's wish was her command.

Sophie didn't know a whole lot about the specifics of caring for a broom, but she kept her new one in a good enough condition so far that she figured she could be of some help to Tyner today. Plus, she would probably learn something and become even BETTER at caring for a broom, as long as the woman was there to show them how it was done properly and wasn't expecting them to just show up on their own and do it. Buuut... she could probably figure it out either way. Maybe. Probably. Hopefully Mo would be there, too, and could set a good example in the absence of the professor.
Peeking her head inside the broomshed, the second year was relieved to see Tyner and the Gryffindor Captain there. Cooool. "Hi professor," she greeted first and foremost, then smiled at Alice. She was good friends with Mo, right? "Captain Fischer," she chimed, offering the older girl a respectful but playful mock salute. Turning back to the Quidditch Official, Sophie eyed the school brooms and the box of refurbishing supplies the woman had. There were... a lot of things there she had never used before. Uh oh. Err... "How can I help?"

Bart had seen the sign and as soon as he saw broom he quit reading and headed towards the pitch. He would do anything if it meant being near brooms and outside. Making his way down as he stretched out his shoulders the best he could. They had been hurting lately. It had to be the beds, they were uncomfortable. He couldn't wait to go home for Christmas Break and sleep in his own bed.
Yawn as he finally got down there he smiled, "Hey Sophie" He hadn't talked to the girl in awhile just a passing glance in class and stuff. Scratching his hairy chin he grinned at the girl before turning his eyes, "Hey Cap" He had lost interest in Alice after recent events. Not even sure if he thought she was the prettiest girl in school anymore. Nah he was over it, but his true love was in front of him. Brooooms!!!
Seeing the Quidditch Official he gave a smile, "Hello.. So what needs done?" because he wanted to get started.

Of course West came. Brooms. That was the reason. He'd also made sure to inform the ENTIRE Slytherin Quidditch team that they would need to come and help out. Especially if they wanted to play in the first game of the season. West headed on in, wearing jeans, sneakers, and an old Slytherin Quidditch tee, and went over to Tyner, shooting a quick wink at Alice as he got there.
"Hi Professor, where do you want me? I'm pretty good with this stuff... I can show people how to do any of the steps. Maybe washing and drying the tail twigs ready for clipping?" He looked around for buckets and appropriate cleaning substances and then back at Tyner expectantly. What did she want?

Sander entered the broomshed and noticed that the other students in there. He walked up the Professor Tyner and asked,"Hello Professor, I'm Sander and I saw your sign on the Bulletin Board. I'm here if you still need help with the brooms." Sander offered his help as he looked around the broomshed.
He remembered how his Firebolt had been returned in bad condition after he had loaned it to his brother and it taken a lot of elbow grease to get it back into its shiny almost new self again. He hoped that he would be able to help fix up these brooms too.
As soon as he'd seen the sign, Tobias made it a point to come to the broomshed. He loved anything flying-related, and servicing his broom was something he loved to do when he didn't have any homework and the weather meant he couldn't go flying. Working with his hands and all that. He knew exactly how to do it. Of course, there was only so much servicing one broom could take before it was just pointless work, or even detrimental. And the opportunity to take care of something and give it love and attention and stuff? Too good to pass up. Toby had been intending to maybe offer to do some broom servicing anyway, but what with everything, he'd become distracted.
So here he was, with a jacket zipped right up to his chin, and his Hufflepuff scarf tucked inside and making his chest puff out more than was really necessary, and with a hat on his head. He entered the broomshed and immediately saw Sophie, offering her a cheery wave and a grin as he joined the general group.
But he didn't say anything, for reasons. Just kind of eyed what Tyner was doing and sort of stepped closer to where there was a bunch of brooms, and giving a questioning look, as if to say 'should we just get started'?

Okay, any excuse to spend a day near brooms. REALLY THOUGH. And Lucas actually loved cleaning his broom. It was therapeutic. It was nice. And after you were done, your broom was shiny and clean and it always ran a little faster once it had had a good service. That in itself, ought to have said something.
In any case, the second year hovered close to the Professor. He didn't want to step on any toes.. people could be super particular about their brooms. But. Still.

Let's see, inspection time. What does this broom need done? She ran her expert fingers over each tail twig and up the handle. Hmm. This could definitely use-- And then in walked a student. A Captain student, to be precise. "Miss Fischer, hello. And I believe I need help with everything," she said, gesturing apologetically. "The brooms.."
She trailed off as a young Ravenclaw entered. "Good day, Miss Brown. As I was saying to Alice, our brooms returned to us in quite sad shape. My first years were having more trouble than usual in their flying lesson the other day."
Another student, male this time, was right on Sophie's heels, it seemed. "Hello, Bart." She glanced out the door to see if anyone else was about to come in. "We need to overhaul these brooms. The handles need polishing, the tail twigs need clipping, and I'm sure there are several other tasks which could be done." Looking at the Gryffindor Captain, she said, "Alice here would be more than capable of assisting you. I have a feeling more people will be showing up and need some instruction. Everything you need is either on a shelf or in this box."

Now where was she on this broom? Oh yes, she was going to start cleaning up the line that the right tail twigs were making. At least... she WAS, until a new wave of people started to arrive. "Mr. Odessa, it is good to see you. Yes, your idea sounds good. I knew I had forgotten to bring something." She retrieved her wand from inside her robes and swiftly conjured a few buckets. "I'll let you handle filling them, shall I?" He had likely seen the box of supplies sitting on the floor right next to her, so she didn't insult his intelligence by telling him where he would find it.
Soon afterwards, two Hufflepuffs walked in one right after another. "It is indeed a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Sander. I trust you've met Mr. Tempus?" If not, there was no time like the present to get to know a housemate. Giving Toby a swift nod, she continued. "I assure you, Sander, that Tobias is more than capable of helping you if you need anything." Perhaps the boy wouldn't need help, but as she'd never met him before, she really had no idea. "Several of the handles need polishing, gentleman. I'd recommend starting there."
Just as she was finishing up those instructions, a young Gryffindor walked in (Lexers). "You start by reminding me of your name." Goodness, she had been getting quite forgetful of late, hadn't she? "Then you may join Captain Odessa in his quest to clean all the tail twigs, if you are amenable."
And another Hufflepuff? Yes, she knew this one. "Good afternoon, Mr. Rehman. I'm glad you could join us." What should she assign him to? "So far we have three tasks going: washing tail twigs, clipping tail twigs, or polishing handles. Join in on whichever sounds the best to you."
Finally she returned to her own broom. I think it's time to grab a pair of tail-twig clippers. She twisted around to dig into the box and let out a small GROOAAAN. Why had her back been so painful lately?

Ian shuffled in and saw others already at work. He saw the flying instructor and walked up to her. Good day. I'm Ian from Hufflepuff and thought I'd stop by and see what assistance I might be able to provide. Of course, an older looking person with aches in his hips might not be of much assistance, but he wanted to help, especially if he thought he might be able to help out his house.

Caleb wasn't in the mood to clean AT ALL. He'd found a gray hair on his head this morning. It was just one, but upsetting nonetheless. The peppered whiskers he could handle - that just required shaving. But on his HEAD? Not good, not good at all!
Plus, he was all achy and was starting to seriously question if he'd be ok to play Quidditch or not. So the last thing he really wanted to do was to be reminded of that by going down to the BROOMSHED. But he really had nothing else to do, so might as well, right? Maybe moving would make him feel better, especially in his knees.
"Hi Professor!" he called, putting on a smile when he saw the flying instructor. "What do you need help with?" he asked.

Sander smiled over at Tobias. "Actually I've seen Tobias during lessons but I've never had the pleasure to work with him. So I'll be most happy to help him out, Professor."
So they were supposed to polish the handles of the broomsticks.
"Polishing the handles. Got it, Professor. We'll have them so shiny that you'll be able to see your reflection on it," Sander grinned at the Professor before going over to grab a couple of rags and a tin of Fleetwood's high finish polish.
Then he went over and picked up the first broom. Sander inspected it before sitting down and placed the broom across his knees. Picking up one rag, he first cleaned off the dust and broken chips of wood from the handle.
