Maggie had decided that the best way to hand out the candy was to...have people find it. Anything else was just too tiring. And boring. And annoying. She'd actually have to WALK around and hand out candy. Like, no. Who was she? NOT a house elf that was for sure.

So instead Maggie was just dropping them. At random. Onto the floor. So essentially she was leaving a trail of candy after her wherever she went. That was nice of her yes? People liked candy. And she was nice. For now. She'd taken the time to mark all of them with her initials however so people would know they were from her.

Something about this scene seemed remarkably familiar. It definitely reminded Oleander of last term for some odd, yet rational, reason.

A trail of candy.

If this had been chocolate, then he'd consider Alexa Cambridge behind this somehow. Or Felix, the kneazle from the underworld. Alexa's kneazle. But it was all too curious not to follow the trail, right? Especially when he could see who was behind this. He knew her, from the common room. She was the one who fell asleep on Dante's shoulder, no? Must be her, or just another kid with a similar attitude. "Fairy-tales are so last year... er, Madeleine." That's the name he thought she had. It started with M, that much he knew.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat??? Nothing she did was last year.

Maggie turned on the spot, ready to yell at whoever had just INSULTED her so but.....then just didn't. Oh. She knew him. Sort of. Ish. She didn't know how name. She should really start learning those. "Magdalena." She corrected him automatically.

What did he mean with the fairy tales comment though? She looked down at the candy. Oooooh. "Do you like candy?" Hmm?

Well, he couldn't possibly keep track of everyone's names or what they were all up to. Exhausting, and pointless if he gained nothing out of it. Like right now, he'd probably get candy (and lots of it) if he wanted to. "Oh, my bad, I'm sorry. Magdalena." That was a mouthful. "I'm Oleander, by the way," and you're not allowed to make jokes of his name... usually... but he did mess up hers.

Madeleine suited her, though.

The Hansel and Gretel scenario was brought up again by mentioning the culprit behind his change of plans. Candy. "Not all the time. How about you?" Considering she was tossing it away, then no, "Why are you getting rid of it?" And in this way. She could leave them for people in the Great Hall. It made perfect sense there.

At least he apologized. Good. It was okay then.

"Oleander." Maggie echoed with a nod. Interesting name. Unique. Suited him somehow. Oleander. It reminded her of something. Hmm. Oh well. "How old are you?" She already knew he was Slytherin too, seeing as she'd noticed him around the Common Room.

'Not all the time.' What kind of an answer was that? Maggie wrinkled her nose slightly in confusion. Huh? So he...did like candy then? Yes? "Nope!" She shook her head, setting down her candy bag. It was starting to get heavy. Even though there was less candy in it now. How did that make sense? Weird.

His next question was a loaded one. She eyed him silently for a few seconds. And then shrugged nonchalantly. "Oh you know. I thought I should give something back." To the less fortunate.

Instant like. In a way. The girl didn't come up with some random nickname for him so he was grateful for that. Abbi was the worst so far, then again, it was his own fault for letting her know about it. So, Oleander nodded back, and eyed Magdalena curiously. "Fifteen, and you?" He was soon to be sixteen, not sure he was excited about that, it was just another birthday.

Oh, shocking. He noticed her reaction, she didn't approve of his answer, then? Tough luck. "No candy of any kind, really? Do you prefer fruits, then?" Or did she not eat at all? He was well-aware his sister was fan of fruits, but she also ate candy, so... he was at a loss here. But interested, nonetheless.

Give something back? A slight frown appeared on his face as he considered this. "Back to the Castle?" The floor? Because he didn't pick one, surely a lot of students will simply... no, they won't, they'd reach for the candy. Magdalena was smart in a highly unusual way.

Frankly, Oleander hadn't interacted with many younglings, that didn't mean he wasn't aware of their existence, as he obviously recognized this particular girl. Shame he hadn't gotten her name right at first, but hearing was not his forte. Faces were.

He noticed. It was peculiar how she added how old she will be, even if his birthday came before hers. "A teenager, I see, just like me." Except not just like him. "Almost like me. I'll be sixteen in November, though." She didn't ask, he simply offered this information for free. Perhaps he'll get candy from her (he doubted it immensely).

Wow. Interesting point of view right there. "Not necessarily, but you're entitled to your opinion," he couldn't argue with her, but Cassia ate candy, licorice wands, and she was the most beautiful angel that ever landed at Hogwarts. So, where were we? "All kinds of berries?" Just checking. April birthday reasons. "Lemon drops. And I also like lemons." FYI.

The people. We, the people, find it a bit insulting that we ought to pick up the candy from the floor, though. 'We' was used rather loosely, considering Oleander wouldn't pick candy off the floor. How desperate can you get? "Anyone in particular?" He started to wonder if these were poisoned somehow.

Yes. Necessarily. She'd SEEN it happen. And her mother had said so. So she set her jaw slightly but seeing as he hadn't outright said he was WRONG, didn't say more on the topic. "Strawberries. And other berries. But I like strawberries best." YUP. She wrinkled her nose slightly and gave him a confused look. "You like LEMONS?" Like, to EAT? WHAT???

Well, what do you know? Magdalena has quite a pretty smile. And she was oh-so-obviously excited about this birthday of hers, becoming a teenager was the most exquisite and annoying thing for a twelve year-old. HONEST. The dramatics get intensified somehow, but judging by the candy on the floor...

...perhaps there's a Queen in the making. He'll be watching.

"November 11, easy to remember." 11/11, see? You were only in trouble if you forgot the month and the day, but if you were capable of remembering one, then the other will come to mind very easily.

Oleander wasn't wrong, yet their perspectives differed a bit. Let's give Magdalena a few years to sort out her perspective, then. "That's valuable information, thanks for that." He knew what to get her now. Wait, he should specify, "Not on their own." too sour.

'Maaaybe'. He smiled and shook his head, almost chuckling at her sole word, "I'm sure the person would get the message if you handed the candy directly to them." This just seemed like too much effort.

It wasn't very hard to keep pace with the Professor as he walked, hands still buried in his pockets. It wasn't like he was walking particularly fast. It might have been a wonder they hadn't all gone ahead of him but this was a group so it made sense they stuck around. Was Airey going to be grumbling the entire time? It was bad for his health.

"So, what do we know about the First Floor?"

Simple question while they walked. It'd be good to know what they could potentially hope to find. There was really only one thing he could think of at the moment but they ran around this place didn't they? Surely they'd...know more...

Sniff sniff. OH MERLIN.

Maddox began rubbing uncomfortably at his nose. "I don't suppose anyone else smells that?" Or was it just his sensitive nose? Ugh, it smelled like...like swamp water. Ew. Circe make it leave.

Soon enough they were out of the room off the Great Hall, through the Entrance Hall and up the stairs to the first floor corridor. They hadn't even been walking all that fast but then one shouldn't be fast when they are trying to see all that they could possibly see as they moved. Granted, they hadn't officially started the project until they had reached their destination.

"Well it is the home of the Muggle Studies, History of Magic and DADA classes," he offered, figuring it was a good enough start to their exploration and an answer for his question. As for the smell...yes he did smell it and he nodded in response.

"I believe its the swamp." Could it be on this floor as well? Benny was trying to remember as he didn't spend much time here besides the classes.

WEEEEEE.

Time to explore Hogwarts, and Lux was so excited. Practically skipping, she followed Professor Quigley with her notebook and purple pencil held against her chest. They would have so much fun and their team was amazing. The only thing that would have made it better was Bay because he made everything so much better.

What did she know about the first floor? "Well, there is a swamp...which I think you are smelling right now, sir." She was actually rather used to it by now.

Before she’d been able to respond to Lux’s statement about knowing her sister, Professor Quigley had gathered them all together and started heading out of the room and up to the first floor. Being short, she’d been oddly thankful that the professor had taken his time, and she’d managed to stay with the group. Besides, it hadn’t entirely surprised her that her name would have been recognized. “What did she say?,” she finally said, coming up alongside the older redhead. It was important, since she knew there was every chance whatever it was wasn’t good. Her big sister didn’t understand her at all.

She’d looked up at the discussion of what they were actually there for, though, scrunching up her nose at the smell of the swamp. There was definitely the reason why she hadn’t normally spent much time on this floor aside from going to lessons. “Ew.” She was going to try to stay as far away from the swamp as possible. She didn’t want to end up smelling like it all night long. It would make it impossible to sleep.

Adi was there! And AJ right beside him. Now that they were back together, he didn't want to be away from her. Eh... that might be turning him into a clingy guy. Heh.

Standing next to Benny, Adi listened to the Feline Professor. As his best friend answered the question, the Hufflepuff scrunched his nose a bit. Yup, he could smell that. The Swamp... which Lux pointed out.

*Splish-Splosh*

What is that sound? It seems that the rapidly expanding Weasley Swamp is making its way out into the first floor corridor. Unable to be contained by its roped-off boundaries any longer, the swamp water is beginning to cover the floor and slowly rise up your ankles. And the overgrown plant life seems to be taking over parts of the corridor.

There is a reason why you can smell the swamp so distinctly. You're practically standing in it!

Her and Adi being back together again has done wonders for AJ's mood. She was back to her normal cheerful self. If anything she was even happier than before. Life was beautiful again and she was pumped to make this map with the hot professor. Erm. She felt kind of guilty for even thinking that and risked a look at Adi even though she knew he could not read minds.

Actually, she did smell something. Her nose scrunched up in distaste, and she was just about to add exactly what she thought it smelled like when her feet felt wet. Looking down she noticed that water had risen to her ankles.

What the?

How did that happen? And that fast. It was just like magic. "If the swamp wasn't on this floor before, it is now," she said casually not really grossed out about it. She was used to weird at this point in her Hogwarts career, and her feet could be washed.

Nessa could hear some sort of commotion from her office that seemed to be coming from just down the corridor. She figured someone or someones were coming to see her so she waited for that knock on her door. She waited a bit longer and it never came so, being the Nebby Nellie she was, went out to see just what was going on for herself. Was it something exciting she was missing?

Stepping out of her office, Nessa saw several students and one colleague just a bit further down the corridor. Hmm.. curious.. She headed that way, slowing down as she side-eyed the Weasley Swamp. She thought that it looked a little bigger the other day when she was dancing down the corridor, but it for sure was even larger. "Hello, everyone!" she said, slightly less chipper than usual as she looked curiously at the swamp. She stood back just a bit further from the group so as not to get her feet wet. "What's going on?" As in, what were they doing and why was the swamp so big? An answer to either question would be good.

"Hi, Professor Nessa!'' But that was all he was able to say before his attention was diverted.

Adi was still trying to get over the stench of the Swamp when he suddenly became aware that his feet were getting wet. O_O Scratch that. His feet were SOAKED. And it was all due to the rising water from the swamp. Ugh!

He had hardly registered the water when he saw the plants seemed to be playing their part too in further causing chaos to the corridor. O__O What was going on here?

Merlin's pajamas, she'd totally missed that map meeting, yeah? Meredith was a little sorry...sort of...okay, no she wasn't but she WAS sorry that she'd let Annie down.

Wandering along the corridor, Meredith caught up to the group investigating her floor and jumped in line. The back, y'know. Only geek burgers were in the front. Heh. Maddox. Heh.

"Would've brought my wellies if I knew we'd be dealing with this mess," She announced loudly, nudging the nearest student and giving them an 'am I right?' look.

Was it just him or was the smell getting stronger?

And not a good stronger since it wasn't exactly a pleasant smell in the first place. They hadn't moved so it wasn't like they were getting closer to it. Spotting some greenery along the wall across from him that he hadn't noticed before, he couldn't help seem confused. However it was then he noticed the water that had suddenly developed as it came up above the sole of his shoes to envelop his feet.

He stepped backwards unconsciously as they were joined by Professors Glendower and Moxley. "I would say we have an issue," he answered, his hand slipping into his pocket where his wand resided. Now should they be doing something? The Gryffindor looking between the four professors as he absently stepped back as if it would help.

So this was actually pretty exciting and completely useful. Exploring the castle was a sure fire way to learn the secret passageways quickly, so she could sleep more and get lost less. Following her group - she'd picked it because Lux had picked it and she'd been by her at the time so why not? - she eyed the Charms professor as they walked up to the first floor corridor. After those rumours about the detentions, Bambi found herself quite curious about him. He wasn't hard on the eyes either, but that was quite beside the point.

And then she wrinkled her nose. Bleh. "What's that sme- EW!" Bambi exclaimed, looking down at her shoes which were SO not meant for mud and swampiness. Instantly pulling out her wand, she Impervius'ed both her shoes and her black tights and hoped for the best. It will at least keep the really gross water out.

She was sorely temped to cast a bubble head charm as well, but resisted. For now. "Erm... Is this swamp thing supposed to be here?" Probably not, dumb question. How does one represent a swamp on a map anyways.

Almost as soon as she’d first acknowledged the smell, Brooklyn had realized a few things. First, they’d been joined by Professor Glendower and Professor Moxley, and second, the smell was getting a lot worse. And she realized her feet were getting wet. “Ew, ew, ew!,” she said, not caring how loud she was as she danced backward. Also, not paying attention to the plant life that was also appearing to be taking over as well. All she was fcocused on was trying to avoid the swamp, and having to take three baths once she returned to her dorm just to try and get rid of the smell. She’d already decided she was going to throw away her shoes. They were all swampy and icky now.

They had more than just an issue. An issue was an understatement. Brooklyn was clearly starting to panic, a steady stream of “ew”s coming from her. She was tiny. The water was obviously rising. It didn’t bode well for her if she didn’t find a way to get higher up. Higher up. There was an idea. Blue eyes flickering amongst the group as she danced back a few more feet, she suddenly launched herself at one of the taller people, starting to climb up their back as if her life depended on it. Apologies could happen later. Or probably not. This was a matter of survival.

Okay so what they were they going to do? Was it going to get any worse? The plants certainly seemed to be moving around more of the wall. But the other questions were floating in his own mind as he tried to think of what to do himself as he waited for some decision to be made. Looks like their map of the first floor may be different then originally thought of.

All of a sudden he felt weight come down on his back and taking a second to register, it was a smaller student who had climbed up there. "Hey!" he said in surprise, not even sure who it was since their group had started to grow on the way to the first floor corridor then the four or five they had had in the Great Hall.
