He changed my life the moment we first kissed. Since then my life has been a crazy rollercoaster ride but this was one ride that I hoped never ended…

On the dance floor, I saw all of the people who I knew. The Gryffindors were calling to me, their lips mouthing words that I would never hear. I saw so sick of keeping this a secret. I’ve spent my whole life trying to please people, trying to make these people be impressed by me. Just staying within the line that I had created. The lines that said I was just that bookworm that was Harry and Ron’s best friend. I want to be more than that. I wanted to be the girl who could kiss her boyfriend in the spotlight not the darkness. I walked past my friends and tried to find him in the crowd of people. He was here. I could feel him, I could sense him, almost hear his heart beat. I turned and turned and only saw the faces of familiar strangers but not him. Then I saw him look at me, his blonde hair falling into his eyes that way that they had done the first time I had kissed him, when we became more than just inevitable rivals. I held out my hand to him, begging him with my eyes to take it. He looked confused but I just smiled. He walked toward me and grabbed the hand, the way we had both dreamed we would be able to do.

“I thought you wanted us to be a secret.” He said and I touched the side of his face with my hand.

“I did but I did for all the wrong reasons. I cared more what everybody else would think than what my heart was telling me.” He smirked,

“What is your heart telling you now, my beautiful bookworm?”

“My heart is telling me to dance with you, dance here with all these witnesses. My heart is telling me to stop being so stupid.”

I had honestly tried to stay away from him, thinking life would be so much easier if I just stayed the Hermione that everybody else wanted me to be. But I needed him. I needed him to touch me and I needed him to tell me he loved me. I just needed my friends to know. I couldn’t continue living a lie. We were breaking one of the unspoken rules of Hogwarts, Gryffindors and Slytherins weren’t supposed to be together. But he was my everything and I couldn’t live without him. You can’t live without your heart.

When our song came on, we started to dance. He put his hands on my waist and brought us close together. We lost ourselves to the music and ignored all the glares we felt.

When the song ended, Draco pulled me close and set his hand on my face, his thumb stroking my cheek. I smiled and he came closer, and whispered in my ear.

“How do you feel about our little secret being revealed?”

“I feel unbelievably happy. You have no idea how much I missed you.I love you, no matter what everybody says, you are meant for me.”

“I love you.” Draco said, and kissed my lips, making me sigh and clutch him to me. I know a few things. That Draco would always be my first love, that he would always have my heart. Who knows if we will be together forever? We’re just living in the moment, the way two teenagers do when they are in love for the first time.

I can live with that, at least I won’t be untouched.
