Madame Malkin's has, along with their regular stock, an extensive setup for custom orders. Along the left wall of the main room, another curtained doorway, looking rather similar to the two at the back of the shop, can be found, and that leads to a rather smaller room. It seems even smaller due to the tables and shelves lining the walls, containing more measuring tapes, pattern books, style magazines, bolts of fabric, lace, sequins, beads and other trims. In the center of the room are three small, round platforms, raised a few inches off the ground, for measurement and alteration purposes, along with a few comfortable chairs. Customers might as well be comfortable if they need to discuss orders.
If you choose to make a custom order, you will be directed in here so you can make your wishes known without the bustle of the main room, and the shopkeeper or shopkeeper assistant will join you once they are available.
Once there was a brief moment of freedom from the queue, Aliceara headed over to the custom orders area to take care of the boy she'd directed to wait there earlier. Hopefully he hadn't gotten to bored waiting, but she hadn't wanted to leave the counter wen there had still been customers waiting there. She smiled a bit in relief as she saw him sitting there, though. "I apologize for the wait," she said, walking over to stand nearby. "What exactly are you looking for?" Obviously it was something that wasn't found on the floor, but specifics were always a good place to begin. Fabrics, patterns... Once the details were established, they could get down to discussing measurements, and whatever else would be needed for the order.
He peeked out to see the few customers left in the shop. As soon as the shopkeeper entered, Hades raised from the chair immediately to get things done as soon as possible. "It's fine," he smiled despite his rush to get things done quickly. "A flannel dress robe. Dark, but not black. A very dark grey to be exact," the boy nodded as he spoke calmly.
As the young girl who had arrvied in the room responded, Aliceara gave her a friendly smile and a nod. "Certainly," she responded. The girl hadn't necessarily needed to be sent in here just for alterations, but perhaps she hadn't gotten that detail explained to Camelia as well as she could. Either that or perhaps the girl simply wanted more privacy. "I'll just need to see the robes on you, so I know exactly how much they need to be hemmed," she added. There was no reason to turn the girl away, and the alterations wouldn't take too long. Bsides, it hadn't seemed like her other customer was ready to respond quite yet.
Jessie slipped on a set of robes and stood as tall as she could so the measurements would be correct.
McKenna followed the shopkeeper to the back room, or whatever they called the custom orders room. She started to daydream about her ideal set of robes. Sparkles? Nah, too tacky. Faux fur? Totally last season. Silk? Definetly. She could her her name embroidered on the pocket. Thet would be nice. "Okay, so what I had in mind was solid black silken robes, with a pocket on the chest. Also, could you somehow charm the pocket so when I figure out my house, it will show the seal for that household? I would like to have my name embroidered onto the pocket as well." McKenna stared at the shop keeper, hoping she wasn't pushing it. She really needed to get custom robes, so she could n't blow this. McKenna felt nervous. Had she said something wrong? Will her vision fail? Instantly, McKenna wished her mother was here, and wasn't sitting in a boardroom filled with chairmen from around the world. She wanted her dad to take her for ice cream instead of sitting in a dungeon inventing new magic items. Sorrow was the only emotion McKenna felt.
Cutty stepped into the customizing area looking every bit as frustrated, annoyed and confused as he was. The lump of clothing he carried with him consisted of a couple of shirts and two black robes that he wanted (no needed for it was very apparent that if it weren't mandatory he wouldn't be there) to have fitted around the torso as his long ape-like arms made it difficult to find the perfect fit.
"T-t." He began with an uncertainty in his voice and a suspicious glance around not immediately seeing anyone. "Tappy?"
"Cutty," Charlie bounded in after the boy. "Look I am here too. They are gonna put a pocket in my robes for Fred. My flobberworm." He dropped all his new clothes on the floor. They'd clean themselves right? Well they needed cleaning before he started school anyway.

Marci soon joined the two kids, her wand in her hand and a measuring tape floating behind her curling and uncurling on itself. She closed the curtain behind her and ushered for the grumpy kid to come and stand on the small dais on the center of the room. "I need you to wear your robes and stand on this little dais, you're so ickle I don't want to bend over and do a tiny mistake ending up turning your robes' sleeves braided around your arms." She giggled at the mere thought, the measuring tape already attacking following the kid around and pushing him toward the little step where he was supposed to stand. "OI! Tappy, stop it." But Marci laughed at the tape, it didn't really listen like a pet. It was just a tape, charmed to chase people around and force them to take their measures correctly.
Speaking of, the tape was now curling around the grumpy kid's arms and crawling up to his neck then back down to his wrists. D'AAWWWW so eager to do business! The assistant stood there laughing and twirling her wand in her hands.
While the tape took the measures, Marci turned to the chubby kid. "Do you have your flobberworm with you? Where exactly do you want your pocket? Inside? I think inside is better. What if you want to take him to one of your classes and the professor doesn't approve? You can hide him inside! Or what if you go out when it's snowing? You don't want to put him in an outside pocket and get him to freeze to death!" A dramatic gasp didn't hurt. "And have you considered a prettier pet? I mean, why a flobberworm? They don't snuggle. A Kneazle would be cool, but a CRUP is even cooler! My grandfather has a little Cruppie and he's so excited and so cute all the time! He eats all my chocolate but one look at those puppy eyes and you forgive him." A tiny chuckle escaped her lips before she turned serious - or well, as serious as Marci could get, "So, inside pocket or outside pocket?" HMM?

Charlie smiled at the lady. With his little chubby hands the boy pulled out his flobberworm from his pocket. He smiled and gave Fred a stroke. He was so squidgy. Like Charlie. He shoved the flobberworm up in the lady's face. "Here he is. This is Fred." An inside or outside pocket? That was a good question.
"Inside please. Yeah. Right here," he smiled, thoughtfully, patting his chest. Right where his moob was.
"Flobberworms are great. He snuggles really well. And he is loyal. He doesn't go anywhere. He might sucker me to death. But that is better than being eaten or jumped on." He stroked Fred again. "See snuggly and squidgy." He loved his Fred.

There was that eerie little smile suggesting chaos again as Charlie appeared in the same room as Cutty. Cutty had wondered if Charlie had just gone to the back room to continue their conversation, but then he produced a flobberworm.
Could this kid get any cooler?
This was going to be a fantastic year. He hoped he and Charlie would be sorted into the same house.

Then, just as quickly as his smile was there it had faded, and Cutty was wearing his old scowl as he stepped onto the dais. "I am NOT ickle!" Which was a surefire statement to get everyone to think that you were exactly that. Cutty seemed lost on this, however as he wiggled into his robe, his head bumping against the eager little Tappy from underneath the robe as it was the last bit of him to emerge.
"I...", Cutty kept his feet in place on the dais, but was ducking and weaving trying to avoid Tappy in gestures that were punctuated each with a word.
"I..." Shoulder twist right.
"Just..." Right duck.
"Haven't..." Face-turn.
"Hit..." Duck.
"My growth spurt yet." He finished off his statement and resided to get comfortable with the invasive magical measuring tape as he'd now said his piece.
So Tappy was what she had named the measuring spool. Cutty was somewhat relieved that it wasn't a hand puppet, not that the lack-of-bedside-manner little tape made him feel any better.

Marci knelt in front of the boy and fussed a little with his robes until she got to the fold where his pocket was going to take place. HMMM. She summoned a piece of clothing with her wand and started tapping her wand on it in a specific way so that the piece was shrinking and jumping and enlarging. And the boy was demonstrating how to snuggle a flobberworm? HAHAHAHA that was cute. Marci grinned at him, "D'aww you two look great like this. Does a lot of its mucus body or whatever gets on your cheek? What if you have allergic reaction to that? But no, no, you're allowed to have the pet you feel like. Do they allow you to have it as a familiar though? I dunno, shouldn't you bring along a Kneazle or a Toad or something too?" She dove inside the folds of his robes and rummaged and fussed again until the pocket was fixated and she made sure it didn't pluck off.
"ALL DONE." She chirped and jumped to her feet, clapping her hands excitedly. "Come! Try it! Put the flobberworm in and see if it fits!" Marci was beaming so much you'd think it hurt her face.

Aaaaaand Grumpy was almost done! Marci had crossed her arms and stood next to the chubby kid watching Tappy doing its work, and the little tape was just as consistent on measuring EVERYTHING and from all the DIRECTIONS despite the dodging. It was funny watching this though and Marci laughed a LOT, "You look like a dancing dwarf in a circuit, n'awwww!" BAHAHAHA. But yes okay, "Growth spurt. Got it." She winked and clicked her tongue at him. Then the measuring tape left him alone and flew over to her.
"Okay, grumpy, spread out your arms and let's see where the robes are tight or too loose." She held her wand out and tapped it on her palm.

Oh, he did not like the winking and the tongue-clicking and just the general tone of her remark. Not one bit. He would have shot Marci an awful glare, but he just couldn't look at her right now. Instead, he stood there. Arms spread out like he was preparing to give someone the angriest most insincere hug of their lives.

She sighed. "We're not going jousting, Caleb. We still have tons of things to buy, and if we don't get them now, we'll just have to get them later," she said. "I'm ready to be done with this, and besides, did you know there's a street festival here? There's games and all." ...and yeah, they'd never be allowed to go unless they'd gotten their supplies first.
Caleb followed the shopkeeper into the back area, still talking to his sister as they made their way into the next area. Their dad had decided to stay back in the other room, just to keep it from getting too crowded back there while they were getting measured.
"Maybe that's where the jousting IS," Caleb pointed out as he followed the lady into the room. "I wonder what else they have there...OH maybe they have one of those muggle mechanical bull things! Where you pretend to ride a bull and then it throws you off!"
Oh man. That would be AWESOME.
He then turned and looked at the Shopkeeper lady and smiled softly at her. She seemed a little...too into her job. It was weird.
Ok lady let's get this over with.

NO MATTER though, Marci had energy and perkiness for ALL of them. "Let's go to the room behind this curtain!" She lead the way, almost bouncing on her feet with excitement. New job for Tappy!

...and then they'd been spotted by the shopkeeper, who was rubbing her hands together like something terrible might happen any second now. Sophie suddenly eyed Caleb. Maybe he had the right idea in going to the Apothecary first. What was this woman about to do?!
"Thank you," Anna said, speaking for her children since the kneazle seemed to have gotten their tongues. She put one hand on Caleb's back and the other on Sophie's back and urged them forward.
"Jousting is like sword fighting," Sophie responded, looking at Caleb as her mother urged her on. "Do you really think they do that in the measuring room of the clothing shop?" she asked. Then again, there was a reason the woman had been rubbing her hands together. What was she about to do anyway!?

Marci was all BEAMing even when the boy kept his attitude, that somehow made him even more adorable in her eyes! What a cute little grumpy kid! N'awww! She grabbed Tappy the magical measure tape and read the numbers registered on it before moving closer to the boy and starting to move her wand along his sleeves, shrinking and enlarging them. "You know I've tried these spells a hundred times, don't you worry at all, just a few more seconds and your robes will be ready to go!" The measuring tape was doing this motion with one end that if it was a real pet, it'd be shaking its head. Alas, the grumpy boy would never know whether she was right or not NOT.
After a moment of intent focusing, Marci jumped back, throwing Tappy into the air and clapped her hands. "DONE! Move your arms, see if it fits well now! Come! Then we can go to the counter again!" Eeeeeeeeeep! SHE DID IT! WITHOUT HELP!!

Marci had beamed and waved the mother off playfully, it was her joooooooob! And she loved it! Wait, were the kids discussing what was behind the curtiain? Where in Merlin's Beard did jousting come from?! "There is nothing in there but Tappy and his brothers! Come, stand on a dais each one of you and spread your arms on either sides of you." She stood between the said dais and was holding her wand and tapping it on her palm EXCITEDLY. And in case they were wondering who Tappy was, a magical measuring tape came floating down from one of the shelves and started swirling and twirling around the two kids urging them to move closer, the measuring tape soon was followed by another measuring tape. Marci laughed and watched, YAY! FUN TIMES!

This woman was way too hyper to be measuring for robes right now. She must have had like a thousand cups of coffee before coming in to work today. Caleb wanted to just get the boring clothes stuff over with, so he could get to the fun stuff like books and candy, so despite his hesitations, he stood on the dais she pointed to, and then spread his arms out as instructed.
As he watched the measuring tape come into view, he realized that Tappy WAS the tape. She had named her measuring tape. Ok. She was now officially labeled as unstable in his mind. He eyed the floating tape measure and raised an eyebrow.
"Your tape measure has a NAME?" he asked.
Ok, this was all too weird. He wanted out. NOW!

Were his arms and fingers all the same size? Even there? Cutty put down his arms and bent his hands towards his face to study the work Marci had just done. The sleeves fit perfectly! And his hands were perfectly in tact! He hopped down from the fitting area and went off to go and pay for his items.

Then Caleb said something about the tape measure having a name, and everything started coming together for Sophie. "This is Tappy and his brothers?" she asked. "What do they have names for? Do they answer when they're called, or something?"

Marci stood watching the two tapes working on the kids measruring them up and down and sides and at every angle. "No, I just named this one Tappy, there are way too many tapes to name and I've only been here a year! But Madame Aliceara trained me using Tappy and it felt like I could work with it the best so I named it! It does respond to its name, it's like saying a spell." BEAM BEAM, it didn't register in her head that the kids might not be quite as excited about Tappy as she thought their questions were.
Once the two measuring tapes were done with the kids, Marci summoned them and started writing down notes on her sparkly golden pad with a quill, her tongue poked a little out at the corner of her mouth. "Welp! We have all the measures, you can come by tomorrow and get your robes. One set of robes for each, right?" Did the kids know? Should she go fetch the parents?

"Oh. I see," Caleb said. That was...all one really needed to say on that subject, right? He glanced at Sophie and raised an eyebrow like 'Can you believe this lady?' as his measurements were finished.
"I think so, DAD ONE SET OF ROBES EACH RIGHT?" Caleb called out to the waiting area. Maybe his mother actually knew best...

BEAM BEAM, it didn't register in her head that the kids might not be quite as excited about Tappy as she thought their questions were.

"I think so, DAD ONE SET OF ROBES EACH RIGHT?" Caleb called out to the waiting area. Maybe his mother actually knew best...
Okay, so...this lady was a little too enthusiastic about her job. It would be like Sophie loving homework so much that she named every piece of it. Yeah. Not going to happen. "Ahh, I see," she said, trying to at least be polite. For one, her parents were nearby, and for two, this lady was going to make her clothes for the school year.
One set of robes? What if a potion exploded on them? What would she wear in the meantime. "Erm..., Mom?" Sophie asked. The right answer was with that woman right there. Not that she didn't trust her dad, but her mom was really on top of things.
"Not one," Anna said, coming into the little area her children were in. "The supply list says they'll need three each." She produced a parchment from her pocket and checked it twice. "Mmhmm. Three sets."

Caleb smiled at his mother and then turned to the lady. "Yup. Three. Like she said," he confirmed their order with the shopkeeper, ignoring his father as he too entered the area with their mother. He was a bit confused as to why the shopkeeper thought they needed only one. She did this for a living yes? And yet she didn't know how many robes first years needed...
"Thanks for measuring us...erm, I mean, thank you TAPEY," he said to the floating measuring tape. He glanced at his parents. Ok they were done now right?

"Tappy," Sophie corrected, but not because she was a know-it-all. She just loved getting a one-up on her brother. There really wasn't much else for her to say. They'd gotten measured and been told to come back tomorrow. Maybe their mom or dad would just swing by and pick them up for them. This didn't necessarily have to be a family affair, did it? Not that today's outing hadn't been fun, but Sophie was sort of wanting to sleep in tomorrow.
Anna gave Sophie a look then turned back to the shopkeeper. "Right. Thank you for measuring them, and we'll be back tomorrow to pick them up," she said. She smiled at the shopkeeper them gestured for her children to step away and get out of the woman's way. There was work to be done and more supplies to be bought. "Alright, next on the list is..." She trailed off as she turned and began to walk toward the exit.

FINALLY time to leave! Caleb smiled and waved at the shopkeeper before bouncing off the platform and running out after her.
"Thank you again for everything, we'll see you tomorrow!" Cale said with a grin to the shopkeeper before following his wife out the door.

OHHHH. Right. Three sets! Marci took the parchment from the lady and looked intently at it, to show her that she was interested in the actual supply list and stuff. Or for whatever reason. "Okay! Your six sets of robes will be ready by tomorrow!" Holy Merlin! She definitely needed madame Aliceara on this one. But she kept her wide grin on her face, no care in the world could get Marci to pout! "Nice to be working with you, too! Buhbye, see you soon!" Her both arms were up in the air, waving at the family.
These robes definitely needed to be adjusted as they were far too big but that was for later now she preoccupied with coming up with a custom made robe. While black was in who wouldn't mind having a blue one with frills added to the sleeves ohhh and the letter G stitched into it. Chantel looked around to see if anyone was available but she need to make up her mind first.

Thirteen years old, with a charmed cast on his right arm, and a few good inches tall, Jacen Reed returned from his tourney in Japan and headed straight to Diagon Alley to get all of his school supplies. The basic stuff had been taken care of by his dad, enabling the half-Japanese teen to roam the shopping district in a slower, peaceful pace.
Sugar infused first years definitely filled the air with excitement as Jace stepped into Madam Malkin’s to get a new set of uniform. His parents can blame his endocrine glands for the sudden, almost unnecessary clothing purchase.
Seeing the long cue before him, the black haired boy wandered the store to see if he can entertain himself while waiting for the first years to get their uniforms done. Jace stumbled upon a curtained area and was delighted to see a bolt of fabric with a geometric design and stenciled sakura flower! The teen reached out to touch the soft material and wondered how much fabric he needs for a brand new kosode...
