| | Malkins Changing Rooms
To the left of the counter, at the back of Madame Malkin's, is a curtained-off doorway leading to a large room. Or, it would be a large room if it hadn't been mostly partitioned off into a multitude of smaller rooms, separated by walls and bearing their own small curtained doorways. Either way, there has to be an enlarging charm placed on the room, as the outside appearance of the shop wouldn't indicate the existence of this space. These are the changing rooms, for customers to try on their robe selections before purchasing, and each one contains a chair and a full-length mirror for people who would rather maintain their privacy.
In the area that is free of changing rooms, but still behind the curtain leading back to the main room, several comfortable-looking upholstered chairs sit, along with a three-way mirror against the far wall of the area for people to examine their robes in. If you are waiting for someone to try things on, feel free to take a seat and relax, converse with others, whatever you'd like (within reason, of course.) |

He saw what she was doing? And he was thanking her for... shopping with him? Her head tilted to the side, eyebrows furrowing in confusion. "What?" "I was thinking about getting a pair of dress robes. Mama said you never know when you need a pair of dress robes," she finished thoughtfully. "You said you didn't need anything else, right?" He nodded in agreement. Their future Charms professor was their best bet, at least to give them a starting point, and from there on, they would know what to search for in the library. And he did hear the library was quite impressive. "You know they'll suspect us, right?" he laughed, oddly unbothered by it all. A couple of first years would look suspicious when inquiring about disillusionment charms, but they could blame it on their curiosity and eagerness to learn... that wouldn't be a lie.
Daehyun giggled. He outright giggled. "I was thanking you for making me feel better." The only thing he wasn't grateful for was her making him turn an ungodly number of shades of red and pink. "And for not being... weird about it." He was clearly weird enough for the both of them.
Dress robes?
He visibly paled when Shera mentioned dress robes, because he was a jeans and sweater kind of guy, and he couldn't imagine himself wearing formal robes. "Do we-uh-you think we'll need them?" Please say no, please say no, please say no. |

Please say no, please say no, please say no. "They might suspect us of something, but they won't know exactly what we're trying to achieve," she commented lightly, the toothy grin still smeared on her face. "Besides... maybe we'll be lucky and have a class on them early on. Or, we can just say we're curious about them because we saw it in a book and wanted to know how it could be done."
See? Everything was sorted out. Now they just had to be at Hogwarts to set their plan into motion. "Oh, ok then. You're welcome," and she beamed at him again. "And thank you for not running away."
It had happened and she wasn't going to talk about it.
And he looked horrified at the thought of dress robes. "Well... I hope we don't need them..." after all she was horrified at the thought of wearing a skirt, let alone going to an event that required a formal dress, or dress robes. "But it's better to have them instead of needing them and not having them? Though I suppose either of us could write home and ask for some to be sent..."
A sudden mental image of her wearing a frilly pink dress crossed Shera's mind and she also paled and cringed at the thought. "Though I'd prefer to get them myself I think..." |

Daehyun nodded solemnly as Shera was telling him their plan. "We can do this!" And save Shera from the unnecessary torture called a skirt. He could only pray for everything to go well, because with their experience with spells, so many things could go wrong, and no amount of native talent could prevent it.
... like turning Shera invisible. Disillusionment charms were not to be toyed with.
"Why... why would I run away?" Did she have a record of scaring frightened boys away? Even if she did, he would never run. Not when he was too horrified to approach people by himself. And her company was pleasurable.
Write home to get dress robes sent? Oh, no, no, no. That was a big no, because the last time his mother had tried to force dress robes on him turned into one of the most horrifying experiences of his life. "You-you think I should look for something, too?" Because as much as he wanted to wear his hanbok, he didn't want to look like an odd ball, if they ever had a formal event at Hogwarts. "At least I know my size now." It was a good start. |

For the first time in their conversation so far it was Shera that flushed. "Some people find me.... intimidating?" overconfident, terrifying, too curious for her own good and a number of other adjectives also would have covered it. That was as far as she was going to go. She was not going to talk about the time that she had 'made a friend' and her curiosity had gotten them into a sticky situation with a creature that had tried to grab them.
Daehyun still had time to run away. And Shera rather wanted him to stay. "Well... we could always both not get dress robes? And then if there is anything formal we can both go in jeans and not be alone?" She actually wanted him to agree to that proposal. She would feel a lot more comfortable that way, and he seemed like he would be in the same boat. At least then they would have each other.
And she had enough confidence for both of them to pull it off.

Shera was many things, and even though she was fairly confident, it didn't make Daehyun want to run away from her, and she didn't seem scary to him. If anything, it only drew him closer. "Hey," he said, his lips stretching into a smile upon seeing her flustered for a change, moving in to nudge her in the lightest of touches. "It's better to be intimidating than the intimidated one." Right? He would know.
Not get dress robes? Show up in jeans? Was she serious?
"I'm in!" he said, a little too eagerly. The idea of not having to live through the torture that was finding the dress robes appealed to him, even though his mother would faint at the idea of him in jeans and a comfortable sweater at a formal event. Or even better, maybe they could skip it altogether.
He shook his head. "We'll be the odd ones out," he said with a laugh, "but at least we won't be alone." Marvelous plan. |

Vi raised both eyebrows a little higher and then giggled. Heh. Sure, Mel didn't say anything. Suuuuure. With a deep breath, she turned around to face her friend with a small smile after checking out the outfit one last time. Yes, this would do. "Alright."
FIRST DATE? MADAME PUDIFOOTS? SAY WHAAAA? That was.... something that you didn't hear every day. "First date? Oh I see... so you started off very seriously...." she said with a nod and then her mind led her to even more bizarre thoughts than previously. She dismissed those. Huh. Strange. Anywho... Mistake Mel for a teapot? Ha! Now that would be funny. "Perhaps on Halloween?" she teased with a maniacal wink though Vi was fairly certain that Mel wouldn't get mistaken for a teapot.
That was a fair response. You never knew when you needed a handy dress. And then Mel mentioned the unthinkable time period... The end of the year... Vi fought back a gulp and just nodded slowly. It would come for them before they knew it. Perhaps a funeral-esque outfit would be appropriate? Hmm.... "The term's not going to end. We'll just have to find or invent some charm that keeps adding more days...." she chuckled. Vi was terrified of the term ending. This was the end. The end of waking up and seeing her friends for three quarters of a year. The end of being able to easily organize get togethers, shenanigans, and whatnot with them. The end of being able to see Tenacius so easily.....
Now she'd have to figure out what she wanted to do with her life.
That got DEEP.
"But that dress is lovely. You should try it on." Relief…good, Vi got it. Nothing was said – nothing…or well mostly nothing. ”Yeaaaah it was a bit intense but it was nice seeing he well…he planned it and everything?” Mel grinned at Olivia as she spoke, ”really, I wasn’t expecting half of that…like, my go-to-idea for a date is someplace unique…the only other date-thing I went on was at the hogshead and I managed to fall over in some slimy thing on the floor it was hilarious” because clearly falling in squishy floor goop was a hilarious thing…disgusting, but hilarious. ”Perhaps…but if you did it for Halloween you could just go all out and try to make yourself REALLY be a teapot” but that could get dangerous…there was no way Mel was going as a teapot for Halloween…there were times as is that she already felt bulbous enough.
Stupid curvy figure…[b]”oh that would be great…really, I’d love that.”[/b because clearly not leaving Vi and Ace was a great thing…but not leaving Kirk, that was even bigger. ”Okay okay I’ll try it on” she grinned as she slipped into the changing room and pulled the dress on before stepping out again. ”I’m…not sure does it make me look weird?” she felt weird…even though she’d been wearing them more often dresses were still not her forte.

It was the nudge that knocked her straight back into the enthusiastic mode she was in before. "That's true... it works really well when playing Quidditch too!" that made her giggle. Her favourite moment was still playing quidditch with her cousin and getting a goal because he'd been too intimidated to actually stop the quaffle from going through the hoop. Speaking of Quidditch. "Do you like Quidditch too? Which team do you support? Do you play?"
Shera needed to calm down again. "Great," a mischievous grin crossed her face. Now she wanted there to be a formal, and for photos to find a way to her mother. She could imagine the look of disappointment and simultaneous amusement on her face, she would expect it in a weird way after all. "Now you've gotten me potentially out of a skirt, and potentially out of a dress and dress robes! How will I ever repay you?" she teased dramatically.

"Fying isn't really-not quite my forte." He pulled the right sleeve of his shirt up to show her the lighter skin where he'd been left with a scar a few years back. "Got a battle scar to prove it." Naturally, the flying lessons they would take in their first year will be stressful, to put it lightly. "But I do enjoy watching matches, Ballycastle Bats is my favourite team. Which one's yours?"
"Will you try out for your House's team?" Because he could totally get his pom-poms and cheer for her.
As Shera listed all the things he'd gotten her out of, he could only shake his head, hiding a grin behind his hand. Who would've thought he'd be such a bad influence? And repay him? "Stay my friend at Hogwarts?" he asked tentatively with a nervous laugh. He wanted to seem as though he was joking, but in all honesty, it was a cry for help. |

Shera had curiously glanced at the scar on his arm. "And... that was just from flying? How?" Even playing Quidditch she'd avoided scars so far. A few broken bones had occurred, but... with the help of a potion that wasn't a massive problem. "I love the Sweetwater All-Stars, they're one of the teams in America... I don't really know the UK teams that well, but I've been to a few Puddlemere United games and they're usually pretty good!" she spent too much of her time trying to keep up with the American leagues. And her father also tended to have more time to go to games with her when they weren't in England. "Ummm... I'd like to, I don't know if I'll be good enough though," she mused, but she smiled anyway. "If I'm not I'll work harder so I can try out next year!"
She would make the team before they graduated if it sent her to the hospital wing for weeks. "Of course!" she beamed at the boy across from her. But, how had Daehyun thought that that wasn't an option? Maybe she hadn't made it clear that she didn't also enjoy his company? Besides, she wasn't going to take no for an answer.
Shera was very hard to get rid of.

Shera was very hard to get rid of. He really didn't want to talk about how incapable he was around a broomstick. "I-I couldn't control the broomstick, and I-flew into a tree." Spectacularly so. "And this," he said, pointing to his scar, "I got because my parents have yet to know about it." It probably would've healed nicely if he'd told anyone... but the thought of seeing a healer made him shudder. Besides, having a battle scar made him look cooler.
Daehyun couldn't help but grin as Shera was talking about Quidditch. She was truly into it, wasn't she? "How about this - I teach you about the British and Irish teams one day, and you teach me about the American?"
He had a feeling she was only being modest when she spoke about not making the team. "I'm sure you'll make the team. Just think about it, you've already got your own fan base ready to cheer for you to the point it'll be embarrassing," he grinned, pointing at himself ever so discreetly. He was already thinking about chants to shout at her games. |

She could understand the urge to not tell your parents what happened. "Well, you should be able to improve in our flying lesson? And if you still can't maybe I can help you out over the break or next year when we can bring our own brooms to Hogwarts!"
That was an exciting thought. And then Daehyun had brought up the idea of teaching each other about the different teams! "That sounds great," she'd gotten so excited that she'd shifted up on her toes bouncing off her heels slightly with the curls following suit and bouncing up and down. She needed to calm down. She didn't know exactly how she was meant to do that though.
Then she giggled at Daehyuns comment. "A fanbase of one," she'd giggled some more at the thought of Daehyun being her fanbase. "Will you wear my house colours even if we aren't in the same house?"
The last comment was meant to tease him, but she was kind of hoping he'd say yes. It would be nice to know that if she made the team someone would be cheering for her no matter what.

Daehyun couldn't help but smile meekly in return, but he sobered up at the speed of light when she reminded him of their upcoming flying lessons. "I was thinking if I could just-you know-pretend I'm ill during the flying lessons, and possibly get away with it?" He could be a convincing actor if he had to, and this called for desperate measures. Wear her House colours? He thought about it for a second, before laughing at the image he had in mind. "If we're in different Houses and you play against mine-you want me to be murdered by my House mates?" He'll have to think about that situation, but otherwise he would totally wear her House colours. "But yeah, I'll wear your House colours." Maybe it was for the best. He would then embarrass her House instead of his with his ridiculous chants and cheers. |

"But..." she needed to get a grip on her brain so that she could actually argue the benefits of being able to fly on a broomstick. "Don't you want to be able to fly properly? It's one of the most amazing and exciting things in the world," that was literally as far as her brain was working. "Besides, our flying classes will be supervised by a professor. They wouldn't let anything bad happen to you."
The last one was an assumption and hope. At very least if he was injured, he'd receive immediate medical attention.
Head tilted to the side as she through, she slowly shook her head. "Maybe not if I play against your house, but if it's the others then they shouldn't want to murder you? And anyways, murder would be an overreaction."
Daehyun had agreed anyway though, and Shera felt the overwhelming urge to hug him again which she stomped down immediately. The toothy grin she was giving probably said enough.

Daehyun had agreed anyway though, and Shera felt the overwhelming urge to hug him again which she stomped down immediately. The toothy grin she was giving probably said enough. The look on Shera's face when he'd told her he wanted to go out of his way to skip the flying lessons - not that he had any say in it, he probably didn't - was almost comical. He had to purse his lips to keep himself from smiling at the horrified look on her face, before sobering up. "I know you're right-" Of course she was. He did enjoy watching other people fly, and it did seem like an amazing feeling... just not when he was flying into trees. "I might just take you up on that offer, if you still want to help me out." He needed to overcome his fear sooner or later, didn't he?
Daehyun nodded. "I'll learn how to charm my pom-poms in the colours of your future House," he vowed, barely keeping the face-splitting grin at bay. He could do face paint too, but he had a feeling he would lose their friendship if he went overboard with the cheering. "Though it would be nice if we were sorted into the same House." Not just for cheering purposes. |

Not just for cheering purposes. Shera beamed at Daehyun when he started to say he would take up his offer of her teaching him how to fly. That would be amazing! Then maybe he would be able to enjoy it as much as she did! And one day maybe they would be able to play quidditch together.
But first she had to teach him how to fly. "Of course I'll help you out with that if you want me to!" she smiled, rolling back onto her heels before back to her tippy toes in excitement once again.
That excitement was only increased when he mentioned learning to charm his pom poms. "It would be. Then we'd share a common room so we wouldn't have to go somewhere else to always meet up." It would be much better for her napping requirements. "But we'll still have classes together. And we can explore Hogwarts either way!"
Hogwarts was going to be great! There was going to be so much to do!

Hogwarts was going to be great! There was going to be so much to do! Daehyun was ready to put Shera up on a pedestal. First she saved him from buying robes that were anything but his size, and now she was even eager to help him learn how to fly? He reddened at the thought. "Let's see how much of a fool will I make of myself on our first lesson." Because he would. He could feel it. "Just-don't let me fly into any trees?"
He nodded enthusiastically at what Shera was telling him, when a sudden thought ran through his head. "Speaking of exploring... you don't suppose they sell invisibility cloaks here, do you?" GRIN.
If they were going to explore, they had to find all interesting places around the castle. |

Kirk had planned the entire date at Pudifoots? Wow! Merlin. That earned extra brownie points in Vi’s book. Vi already thought of the Ravenclaw in a favourable light but hearing that made her think of him even more favourably. A date where she went to the Hogs Head and nearly fell over? Darn gravity. “ Ooh who was that date with?” she asked, hoping that that guy had been quick to help her up. It must have not gone as well as Kirk and her date.
Going as a teapot for Halloween? *SNORT* Did she just snort? “ True. It’d be better just to go all out. Just don’t be an ordinary tea pot..... Be one with rainbow stripes and SPARKLY silver polka dots. And don’t forget to strut,” she chuckled as she pretended to strike a pose as if she was in Vogue.
Then Melbourne took the dress into the changing room. In the meantime, Vi shopped the clothes rack that they would be returning to the shop. She paused and then heard Mel’s question. Vi turned her gaze and saw Mel step out looking like... a goddess. The dress seemed to hug to her curves and was just really flattering. “ WOAH! Mel. You look... You look like an absolute bombshell. This dress sits so nicely and suits you really well.” 10/10 would take Mel out for dinner right now. “ We should get fancy and go on a double date. You, Kirk, Ace, and I.”

If they were going to explore, they had to find all interesting places around the castle. How much of a fool he made of himself? "You know, there's probably going to be heaps of people that have never held a broom before. At least, not ones that are used to fly. I mean there should be a couple of muggleborns there. I don't think you'll be alone in not being good at it, and even if you do terribly it won't be making a fool of yourself. We're all going there to Hogwarts to learn things, aren't we?" she reasoned, rambling lightly with a soft smile on her face. "And like I said, I'll help you. We'll get you flying like a pro before we graduate."
Shera felt pretty confident with her own logic. Flying was something that felt amazing, as long as you weren't scared. She had to help him feel that joy as well. Especially considering it was one of her favourite things to do!
Maybe it was tied with swimming? "Ummmmm…" she hadn't seen any before. But the again, Shera hadn't been looking. A toothy grin crossed her face as she considered what he had considered. "We can always have a look! And if not I'm sure we can find one somewhere else in Diagon Alley!"
While they definitely needed to have a look, she also wondered whether or not her parents might have had one stored somewhere. Shera would have to ask one of her house elves when she got home. With that thought in mind she skipped off to have a look around Madam Malkins, making sure to stay slow enough that Daehyun would have a chance at keeping up with her.

With that thought in mind she skipped off to have a look around Madam Malkins, making sure to stay slow enough that Daehyun would have a chance at keeping up with her. Daehyun wanted to argue that others who had never touched a broomstick before would be better than him, he wanted to argue so bad, but Shera sure had her way with words and knew exactly how to make him feel better and ease his nerves, for which he would be forever grateful. Fly like a pro before they graduate? Instead of denying it, he found himself nodding with a small smile. "That sounds good." He silently wished her luck, though. She had her work cut out for her.
He couldn't hold back the grin that was stretching over his lips at the thought of searching for an invisibility cloak, and Shera seemed to have understood what he was hinting at. What self-respecting explorers didn't own one? It would come in handy when it came to all the places that would likely be banished for students - there had to be such places.
As Shera skipped off towards the rows of robes, Daehyun called out, "I'll find you in a minute." He just needed to change out of the school uniform he wore before he forgot he was wearing it and left the shop like that - he wouldn't put it past him. Walking out from the changing room with his hands full of school robes and his nose buried in the turtle neck of the crimson sweater he'd come in, he left the changing area to find Shera. |
