To the left of the counter, at the back of Madame Malkin's, is a curtained-off doorway leading to a large room. Or, it would be a large room if it hadn't been mostly partitioned off into a multitude of smaller rooms, separated by walls and bearing their own small curtained doorways. Either way, there has to be an enlarging charm placed on the room, as the outside appearance of the shop wouldn't indicate the existence of this space. These are the changing rooms, for customers to try on their robe selections before purchasing, and each one contains a chair and a full-length mirror for people who would rather maintain their privacy.
In the area that is free of changing rooms, but still behind the curtain leading back to the main room, several comfortable-looking upholstered chairs sit, along with a three-way mirror against the far wall of the area for people to examine their robes in. If you are waiting for someone to try things on, feel free to take a seat and relax, converse with others, whatever you'd like (within reason, of course.) |

Just in case.
Oooooooh and they had collars for pets! She eyed those for a moment wondering if she could get away with grabbing one of those. Her mother wouldn't mind... right?
It was a bunch of weird sounds that caught her attention, drawing her into the changing room section, head tilted to the side as her blue eyes tried to analyse the situation. It had to be a person in there, right? But could people even make sounds like that?
The question was answered when a boy had wandered out of the changing room. How had he managed to get himself into that situation? Shera couldn't help but giggle. "They look about a size or two too big for you," she commented lightly, evaluating the boy in front of her. Her guess was he was a first year too, so she could try to be charming. Especially in case he already disliked her for giggling at him. "But... if it's just the sleeves you could always get them tailored so they fit better."
The blue eyes dropped down to the floor where the fabric was still pooling on the ground and figured that her first point was probably better advice. "I'm Shera by the way!" she remembered to introduce herself, with a huuuuuuggggeeeeeee grin on her face, holding her hand out to him. Daehyun sighed. Maybe it was best to just fetch his mother and get some help, because he wouldn't be caught dead admitting to an employee there that he was incapable of finding a fitted pair of robes for himself.
He was just about to return to the changing room, when a giggle made him nearly jump out of his skin. He sent a silent prayer to Merlin that she didn't hear him earlier.
"I'm Dae-Daniel," he corrected himself as he timidly shook the girl's hand, remembering to use an English name. He'd gotten plenty of odd looks even since all the way back in kindergarten, so he'd decided it was best if he used an English name. "It's nice to meet you."
His gaze averting back to the large robes, he couldn't help but agree with Shera. "I-I don't think it's just the sleeves. Is this," he pointed to the shoulders of the robes, which fell way lower than he thought they should, "supposed to be this way?"
He was hopeless. |

He was hopeless. Shera tilted her head to the side. The boy across from her seemed to be struggling with his name. That tended to be a bad sign in her experience, but she shrugged it off for now. If he continued having trouble with his own name, then she'd be concerned. "Nice to meet you too, Daniel" she returned, basically beaming at him. See? Friendly! She could do that!
Basically skipping backwards having her first friend was exciting, she tilted her head to the side to evaluate him more. That was definitely too big. "No," she deadpanned. "We should try a size smaller first..."
Maybe they'd have to go down two or three sizes actually...
He did look ridiculous. "Are you also going to Hogwarts?" that was currently the most important question on her mind. She'd be disappointed if it turned out that he wasn't. It would be nice to already know someone before getting on the train to go there. She decided to add a little bit of information about herself, "I'm going to be a first year." |

And then blinked some more.
It baffled him how cheerful and friendly Shera was, to a stranger no less. Or perhaps it was only because he had never been one to approach people first, so he did his best to act at least remotely normal. Wouldn't want to push away his first possible friend. Could they become friends?
A smaller size, right. "Would you-" Suddenly, his fingers seemed oddly interesting to stare at as he fiddled with them, nervously picking at his nails. "I mean, if I'm not bothering you-could you please help me?" He wondered if he looked like a sad puppy that's been kicked out in the rain by then, but his level of desperation was high. If there was one thing he was sure of, was that he couldn't start off his first year wearing those. "It's fine if you can't-" Hogwarts?
"It'll be my first year there, too," he said, already feeling more at ease around the girl. He hoped she saw the gratitude in his eyes for bearing with him and his social awkwardness. "Is there-is there a house you would like to be sorted in?" There you go, he thought to himself. Normal. |

Shera tilted her head to the side. Had she broken him? Was he ok? Was there anything that she needed to do to get him to work again? He started to work again before she needed to try to fix him. That was a close call!
It took her less than a second to evaluate her options. Between helping a friend who looked quite pitiful, which also worked in his favour or being found by her mother and dragged to new stores to get more of her Hogwarts supplies, the first would win every single time. "Sure!"
She looked at him again, contemplating moving over to check the clothes for a tag but worried that he would break again if she moved too close. "Do you know what size you have on?"
If she wasn't beaming before, she was definitely beaming now. HE WAS ALSO A FIRST YEAR? Yep. New friend right there. He didn't have a choice in the matter, friendship was hanging around someone until they just accepted your presence, right? "Ummmmm...." she rolled back onto her heels absently as she thought to herself. "Not really?" as long as she was allowed to sleep she was happy. "Do you have a house you want to go into?" |

He hid his face in his palms in embarrassment, suddenly regretting not keeping his hair long enough to cover his rapidly reddening ears. "I-I didn't check-I was just-" picking robes that seemed like they'd be his size. "You know what, I'll just shut up now," he said, taking off the black robe and handing it to Shera to check for herself. At least the shirt he had on was well fitted - by pure coincidence only.
"I don't know where I'd fit best," he answered regarding his house preference. His mouth stretched into a tight-lipped smile. "But my family would expect me to be in Slytherin. Long generations of Slytherins, expectations to live up to." He puffed his cheeks, before giggling to himself. "Maybe Hufflepuff would suit me?" |

That was like, step one of clothes shopping in both the wizarding and muggle worlds? No one should have an excuse to not do that. But he did look suitably embarrassed at having skipped that step. Shera couldn't help but giggle at his rambling as she just accepted the robe that he'd passed her. "I'll be back in a moment," she commented, and was basically gone the second after that. It took less than a minute for her to enthusiastically return with three new black robes. She thrust the middle sized one in front of the other boy's face. "Try this one first."
Then she let herself drop down to sit cross legged on the ground, waiting to see how that would go. "I like the idea of being in Hufflepuff," she commented lightly, there were less expectations associated with that particular house. Loyalty she could do. Although, hard-working? Maybe not... "My family won't particularly care which house I'm in. None of them have gone to Hogwarts actually..."
So at least if they kicked her out for not being sorted she'd have other education options.

So at least if they kicked her out for not being sorted she'd have other education options. Daehyun watched Shera disappear and reappear only moments later, her arms full of new robes for him to try on, he supposed. He wasn't prepared when she threw one at him, but he'd managed to not make a complete fool of himself and caught the robe... barely... by the end of a sleeve...
With a nod, he pulled the robe on, and it certainly didn't swallow him whole like the previous ones he'd tried on did. Feeling much better, he stepped in front of the three-way mirror to scrutinize his reflection. The robes actually clung to his body now, instead of flapping around him, making his small frame appear even smaller when it was engulfed by the large piece of material.
"What school did they go to?" he asked as he turned from one side to the other, but still attentive to what the girl was saying. "I mean-do tell me when I'm asking too much."
Nearly satisfied with the robe he had on, he stretched out his arms, only to find that the sleeves became way shorter than they should. "Maybe one size larger?" It was close - definitely closer to his real size than the ones he'd tried on before Shera came to his rescue. |

Could it really be a huge family secret where her family went to school? Or were his parents so proud of having attended Hogwarts that they would assume that everyone else wouldn't want to talk about having attended a different school? "Mum went to Beauxbatons and my dad went to Ilvermorny," she responded with a smile. She didn't feel the need to include the countries, most people knew where those two schools were. "They came to England as part of their University thing and have stayed since."
More or less.
Tilting her head to the side, she analysed the new robe. She nodded in agreement after a few moments. "This one should be good," hopefully. She threw the next robe out of her pile and towards the boy. From her position sitting cross legged on the ground it barely got any air and fell in front of his feet.

Daehyun's eyes widened in wonder upon hearing about some of the greatest wizarding schools in the world. He couldn't control the light woa that escaped past his lips, and he was too interested to realize it. "Have you ever been there?" he asked, folding the robe he'd had on to give it back to Shera, before pulling the new one - and hopefully last one - on. "I mean, to France? To America?"
He was still hesitant to ask further questions, as he didn't know how much was acceptable to ask someone you'd just met, but it seemed as though Shera was unbothered by any of it.
... he really needed to get out of the house more often and socialize. With actual humans - his pets didn't count.
Daehyun gathered the robe that had landed at his feet, a small smile stretching his lips at the girl's antics. She was refreshing, to say the least, as his mother would have his head served on a silver platter if he sat on the floor and threw things at people.
It was awesome.
He pulled the robe on, and immediately felt - yes, even him, the one incapable of dressing himself - that it fit like a glove. He stretched and turned to make sure nothing would pop open at the slightest of movements, and with a satisfied grin and his eyes disappearing into small crescents, turned to Shera for one last confirmation. "Looks okay?" |

"Looks okay?" He was legitimately surprised and amazed at that.
Shera was more confused. Hogwarts was an equal to both of those wizarding schools, so why would he be amazed by it? Maybe he just hadn't left England before. His sudden demeanour change, and dare she say it, actual interest in the conversation, pointed in that direction. "We go back a couple of times a year," she responded with a shrug, but smiled nonetheless. It wasn't exactly normal for most people to move between the countries regularly, then again she still had family everywhere. And her parents still maintained houses in both countries for that reason.
This robe did seem to fit a lot better. Shera bounced back to her feet without needed to use her hands to push herself up. She contemplated asking Daniel to turn around for her, but... that wasn't necessary. Instead she walked around him, grinning as she stood in front of him again. "Perfect," she commented, clapping her hands at their success. "Anything else that you need to get?"
Cause based on what she'd seen so far, he needed help. She could probably gather her own things in less time than what she'd spent helping him!

Must be nice, he thought dreamily, like the travel enthusiast who nearly never traveled that he was. "I've only ever been to my grandparents' home back in Korea, but I-I'd love to travel all around the world one day." Most likely after he had enough money of his own, because he wouldn't be caught dead asking his family.
It took Daehyun a moment to realize he'd been talking about his lifetime dream, to which he mentally face-palmed himself. Was Shera rubbing off on him with her openness?
Not that it was a bad thing.
He shook his head when Shera asked if he needed anything else. "Only the dragon hide gloves but-it would be more than embarrassing if I needed help with those, too." He could feel a deep crimson blush crawling up his neck and all the way to his cheeks, but maybe if he could ignore it, it would go away.
... it didn't.
"I'm grateful for your help," he said with a slight bow, remembering only halfway through it that people there didn't bow. Why did he have to be so socially awkward? "Do you need to get anything? Not that I-I would be of any help." But if she needed company, that he could do. |

Not that I-I would be of any help." But if she needed company, that he could do. "I don't see why you wouldn't get the chance. I mean, we'll be able to apparate and use portkeys by ourselves when we're older so it should be much easier for us," compared to muggles to had to sit in giant metal horrors without moving for hours. Shera couldn't understand the logic there. And alsoooo..... "Maybe you can visit me in France or America sometime."
The suggestion was out there and she beamed at the boy across from her. Cause if he came to visit, it would be so much less boring and lonely!
Were humans meant to be able to go that red? She was moderately concerned about his wellbeing, again. Was it obvious that she didn't interact with that many people? Because she'd broken him like 3 times at current count?
But he hadn't run away screaming which was a win in itself. "I still need to get everything," she mused with a shrug, pulling the shopping list out of her pocket. Plain work robes, pointed hat, winter cloak, white blouses, sweaters, ties, scarfs, pants skirt and a number of socks and stockings. She was definitely getting a pair of pants as well. She was not wearing a skirt outside when it was snowing.
Also maybe she could get away with just wearing pants instead of a skirt generally? She could try it at the very least. Skirts were stupid.
Running off again, and assuming that Daniel would stay put, she threw the extra robes she'd grabbed for him back were she found them and collected the things that she needed for herself. She was pretty confident in knowing her size, which left her with one of each item including a few extras. Extras like a set of silk dress robes and the kitten collar she'd been eyeing beforehand.
Shera promptly shoved everything into Daniel's arms, only grabbing the essential parts of the school uniform before throwing herself into one of the changing rooms. About a minute later, most of which was spent glaring at the skirt, she emerged from the changing room. "The skirt looks silly, doesn't it?" |

"The skirt looks silly, doesn't it?" Visit her?
For some reason, his heart started beating erratically, because it would be the first time he actually spent time at a friend's place. Were they even friends? At least on the way to becoming friends? Daehyun sighed to himself - he definitely needed to socialize more. Or maybe he could find a book on human interactions, that would be helpful. "Only-only if you visit, too," he said, fighting over the panic attack that was likely coming. "Springtime is the most beautiful." When all the cherry blossoms are in full bloom and it's basically raining with petals.
He wasn't sure what to do when Shera announced that she needed to buy her own things and disappeared a moment later, so he busied himself with folding the robe that he would buy. He was taken by surprise when she reappeared into the changing room, her hands full of clothes, and soon that pile was shoved unceremoniously into his arms. Before he could even process what was going on, Shera had gone off to change, so he didn't have anything else to do than wait in the middle of the room like a lost puppy.
It was when Shera walked out that he turned into a shade of red so deep that he could have been mistaken for a radish. Quickly looking away, he shook his head. "I-I think it looks pretty on you."
It was a perfect time for the ground to crack open and swallow him. |

Oooooooh those robes seemed to fit Olivia perfectly, it was nice really…there wasn’t even a slight tinge of jealousy at the fact that they weren’t oddly bulky or tight in the way that Mel’s own robes always seemed to be at first. Wait…TMI? Did she…
Noooooo. She – nope, she hadn’t said anything. There was no I given….maybe just too much muchness but there was still no I…just a complete lack of I a lack of…oh god she was flustering again. ”I didn’t say…I mean” she paused, for a moment just long enough to hear Vi’s question.
Mel nodded and couldn’t help but chuckle when Vi commented about Pudifoots being serious…”Its…well, other than the Pride thing….Pudifoots was our first date?” she admitted with a little crinkle to her nose, ”that would be hilarious but you’ve got to wonder what the servers would think? I could just be a giant teapot…they could try and serve me to guests” she was joking obviously, who’d mistake HER for a teapot…it’d be one short but rather legged teapot.
Mel shrugged at the question, ”Oh…no reason – more…thinking what if we need them” she grinned and bit her lip for a moment before chuckling ”oh or…end of term when we you know…when the term ends?” not mentioning the forbidden word. Well it would definitely be easier to find the crazily dressed lady in a tea cozy. She shuddered at the thought of only wearing that in the autumn. Yeah there was absolutely no way she would ever wear a tea cozy EVEN if Mel or Ace bribed or convinced her somehow.
Vi raised both eyebrows a little higher and then giggled. Heh. Sure, Mel didn't say anything. Suuuuure. With a deep breath, she turned around to face her friend with a small smile after checking out the outfit one last time. Yes, this would do. " Alright."
FIRST DATE? MADAME PUDIFOOTS? SAY WHAAAA? That was.... something that you didn't hear every day. " First date? Oh I see... so you started off very seriously...." she said with a nod and then her mind led her to even more bizarre thoughts than previously. She dismissed those. Huh. Strange. Anywho... Mistake Mel for a teapot? Ha! Now that would be funny. " Perhaps on Halloween?" she teased with a maniacal wink though Vi was fairly certain that Mel wouldn't get mistaken for a teapot.
That was a fair response. You never knew when you needed a handy dress. And then Mel mentioned the unthinkable time period... The end of the year... Vi fought back a gulp and just nodded slowly. It would come for them before they knew it. Perhaps a funeral-esque outfit would be appropriate? Hmm.... " The term's not going to end. We'll just have to find or invent some charm that keeps adding more days...." she chuckled. Vi was terrified of the term ending. This was the end. The end of waking up and seeing her friends for three quarters of a year. The end of being able to easily organize get togethers, shenanigans, and whatnot with them. The end of being able to see Tenacius so easily.....
Now she'd have to figure out what she wanted to do with her life.
That got DEEP.
" But that dress is lovely. You should try it on."

It was a perfect time for the ground to crack open and swallow him. Not only did he agree to visit her, but he wanted her to visit him too???
She beamed even more than before, trying her hardest to contain the urge to hug him. Shera was pretty sure that he'd actually break if she went for a hug. This definitely counted as her first friend! And she couldn't wait to go to Hogwarts knowing that she already knew at least someone! "That sounds great!"
Also it meant that she wouldn't just be spending her holiday alone! "Why's Spring the best?" she asked, head tilted to the side slightly. She'd always enjoyed spring because of all the flowers that grew in the gardens of their house, but summer was definitely the best. It meant she could spend most of her time in the pool or at a beach depending on where they were.
Pretty?
She turned around looking to a mirror to look at her reflection again. The skirt was... still weird and uncomfortable. Being in a pair of pants would have been a whole lot more comfortable, and she just generally didn't feel like she looked like she belonged in a skirt. Not like other girls that just... looked right? But being told that it looked pretty made her smile a little bit. "Thanks," she said, turning to him with a softer smile. That's when she noticed how red he was. "Are you alright, Daniel?"
She was slightly concerned about the boy in front of her.

She was slightly concerned about the boy in front of her. Did the two of them just agree to visit their respective homes in countries on continents that were on the other side of the world? When they'd barely met?
... apparently so.
Though there was something about Shera that made him feel at ease, even though she was also the one that put him on the edge and stressed the living daylights out of him - but not in a bad way. It was only his lack of human interaction aside from his family members that was at fault, so it was nice to have someone else to talk to for a change. Plus, he wouldn't be completely lost at Hogwarts, because he wouldn't be caught dead approaching people. And, well, only if she didn't find cooler friends there. Because she most likely will.
His face brightened when she asked him why he'd mentioned spring. "Cherry blossoms," he said with a grin. "That's when they're in full bloom, and it's so, so beautiful. You need to see it!" And he needed to shut up before his pupils turned into actual hearts - he was that much in love with that time of the year. "I mean-unless you can't stand pink. And petals. There are petals everywhere." Not that he loved pink. But it was pretty.
Daehyun couldn't help but grin at her sudden lack of confidence when he'd complimented her skirt, and not only out of courtesy. "Are you more of a pants kind of girl?" he teased lightly. He couldn't even blame her, because he highly respected girls who walked around in skirts and dresses. They honestly seemed like too much of a nuisance to him. Daniel. Should he-? He'd always gone by his English name for the sake of everyone else, because he was tired of people saying his name wrong, but somehow it also felt wrong to not tell her-? His cheeks only reddened further at the thought of it. He feared her reaction, though he hadn't lied to her either - and if they were becoming friends, it would only become harder to tell her.
... it just felt wrong not to.
Pursing his lips, he nodded in response to her question. "It's-uh-"
Dear ground, please open up and swallow him. |

Dear ground, please open up and swallow him. This was the first time that Daniel got openly enthusiastic about something that Shera asked him about. It was nice to see him actually enjoy speaking about something, and then all of a sudden he reverted back to awkwardness.
Oh well. They were getting somewhere. "It sounds great," she responded enthusiastically, hoping that it would jolt him back into his previous enthusiastic state. "I've only ever seen cherry blossoms in a book." She wasn't going to add that it was a children's story book, or the fact that she had always loved watching the cherry blossom tree go through the different seasons. Like any kind of tree that flowered beautifully, really.
Was he teasing her? Shera wasn't sure. It seemed like it at the very least? But it was also something very new... While debating what the comment was meant to be internally she shrugged her shoulders likely. "I suppose so, you can't do as many things while wearing a skirt. It just get's in the way."
Like climbing trees was near impossible. Last time she'd ripped her skirt when it got caught on a branch.
Shera had been enjoying the enthusiasm, and even the teasing if that was what he was trying to engage in. But suddenly he had stopped again. She reached forward, trying to wait patiently for him to continue his sentence as she grabbed the robe and pulled it on.
How was 'are you alright?' such a difficult question. "It's?" she prodded lightly, hoping it would set him back on track.

How was 'are you alright?' such a difficult question. "It's?" she prodded lightly, hoping it would set him back on track. She's only seen cherry blossoms in a book?! Oh no, not on his watch. "You have to visit some time. It's like-muggle magic!" Muggle magic. Way to go, Daehyun. His cheeks tinted a light pink each time he realized what he said - he seriously needed a filter - and hoped it would go away if he played it cool, like nothing happened. Maybe Shera wouldn't notice either. Or maybe she'd already gotten used to his silliness.
"Skirts are overrated, anyway," he agreed. "But you should still get that one." Because it was pretty. He liked that she was different, though. He could only imagine she would beat him in sports, or maybe she was already a good flyer. The more he entertained that thought, the more he imagined her on whichever house's Quidditch team.
He looked away when she encouraged him to go on with what he'd wanted to tell her. Was it a good idea? It wasn't as though he'd used a false name, but for some reason, it felt wrong not to tell her. Also, if he didn't tell her right then and there, she would likely find out no sooner than nineteen years into the future. And the outcome of that wouldn't be nice on his end. "I-well-" Deep breath. "Daniel-it's-it's actually-Daehyun." Here we go.
He mentally applauded himself for not fainting yet.
"I-I go by Daniel when I'm in Britain, but-just thought you should know," he said in the quietest voice, prepared for what was to come. |

"I-I go by Daniel when I'm in Britain, but-just thought you should know," he said in the quietest voice, prepared for what was to come. Shera couldn't help but smile at the description of 'muggle magic'. Normally, when she'd thought of anything like that she thought of the crazy pieces of technology that they came up with. Like movies and vacuum cleaners, not something that was natural.
But sometimes it was the natural things that were the most beautiful, and in that sense Daniel may have been right. Maybe it was magical. She nodded slightly, finally justifying the description in her own mind. "I can't wait to see it, especially if it's as magical as you say."
Queue the inevitable grin. "Hmmmm... well I have to anyway... school uniform and all," she was still going to get a pair of pants as an experiment though. See if anyone noticed. They probably would though...
Head tilted to the side she listened attentively, waiting for him to hurry up and tell her what was on his mind already. But she'd already prodded, and now she had to wait for him to just speak. And then he'd gone ridiculously quiet again after his announcement. Shera raised an eyebrow. "Daehyun," she repeated, not saying it as well as the boy in front of her and it came out a lot less naturally. She giggled slightly as she compared how she had sounded to herself, to the way the boy had said it. "I guess I need more practice to say it right."
Then she giggled again, before worrying about how the boy across from her was taking it and gave him a toothy smile. "It suits you better than Daniel." |

"Are skirts mandatory?" he asked, unaware that he was pouting. But that would be cruel, to put it simply. "I-I suppose we'd better find you a good disillusionment charm to practice. Or-something misguiding." He was all for abiding rules, but he also wasn't going to witness such cruelty against girls who didn't like skirts.
Besides, he needed to live a little.
... as long as he didn't get himself in detention. He didn't need his parents to know that he'd taken it upon himself to go against everything they'd spent eleven years drilling into him.
Daehyun looked up with wide eyes at the sound of Shera's giggles, thanking the greater forces that she wasn't angry with him. He finally let out a breathy laugh, a breath he hadn't realized till then that he'd held, when he heard her repeat his name. "It sounds just fine," he said, giving her the smallest smile. "I don't mind you using Daniel. I just-wanted you to know. Rather than find out yourself when we're in our thirties."
Oh, boy. Why did his mouth go ahead without a double check from his brain again?
"I mean-if we're still friends by then." And there it was. The burning sensation creeping up his cheeks. |

Oh, boy. Why did his mouth go ahead without a double check from his brain again?
"I mean-if we're still friends by then." And there it was. The burning sensation creeping up his cheeks. "According to the shopping list they are," Shera mused with a shrug. "I was thinking about just buying a pair of pants for the more active classes and seeing if anyone noticed. But learning a disillusionment charm might work a lot better..."
The wheels in her brain were turning as she tried to come up with a plan. She still needed to go get her books... and her mother would be happy if she said that she wanted more books to study ahead. The brunette grinned at the boy across from her cheekily. "I'm sure we'll be able to make it work."
And if not she'd just wear her skirt. It wouldn't kill her.
Probably.
She had probably butchered his name and the boy across from her was telling her it was still fine? That was a good start. Maybe one day she'd surprise him by actually being able to say it. "I'll call you whatever you prefer, but I don't think you need to feel like you have to go by Daniel just because it's easier for other people to say. I mean, Shera might be a bit easier, but I still chose to stick with it instead of changing to an English name."
Why was he blushing at the thought of still being friends with her in 20 years time? The thought of it made Shera smile, having met someone now and still being friends after many years. Both of her parents still had friends from school, and she had always hoped that she would hold onto her own friends for just as long. "I suppose it would be weird to find out then... But only because I would probably never get used to calling you Daehyun if you started to prefer that name."
The choice of name preference was in his hands. And beyond that, they were friends. Maybe they wouldn't be in 20 years time, but Shera wasn't going to approach it that way.
Positive thinking.

Positive thinking. He could see it.
Daehyun might be dense sometimes, but he saw it. He saw the gears turning in Shera's mind as the girl was likely plotting their rebellion against school policy on the uniform requirements... kind of. He couldn't call it a real rebellion, but it would be the most mischievous thing he'd done in his life if they went along with it, and the thought of it was sort of exciting. His grin grew along with Shera's. "I'm up for it if you are," he offered.
He listened and clung to each word that Shera told him. "You-you're right. It's only my family calling me Daehyun," not that he had any human friends, since he'd always preferred the company of creatures, magical or not, "so feel free to use any. Or both. Whatever you like." Or it could be their thing. Because most people would still frown at his given name, so he wouldn't mind it if she were one of the few that used it.
"Shera is a pretty name, by the way," his unfiltered mouth let out in a nearly incorrigible mumble. |

He couldn't call it a real rebellion, but it would be the most mischievous thing he'd done in his life if they went along with it, and the thought of it was sort of exciting. His grin grew along with Shera's. "I'm up for it if you are," he offered.

I'm sure we'll be able to figure out an actual plan after we get to Hogwarts..." then they'd also have a library to work with, and teachers to subtly ask questions regarding different spells and options.
That was still if just wearing the pants didn't work.
But now they had a plan to make a plan, and Shera now had a partner in crime, so really she was winning. And felt a whole lot more comfortable about it all. "Daehyun it is!" she decided, beaming at him. Though, she might need to get used to saying Daniel as well. Unless he decided to listen to her advice and just forego the English name completely. Otherwise she'd mention him and no one would know who she was talking about!
Shera almost didn't hear the next part because of how mumbled it was, but, thankfully for her and maybe not so much for the boy across from her, she did. She beamed at him in response. "Thanks! I've always liked it, but mum considered calling me Sarah instead... cause English." |

There was something about the odd satisfaction of breaking rules - mind you, without hurting anyone in the process, he wouldn't go that far - that got Daehyun to look forward to their most evil plan. Putting on his most serious face, he held his pinkie out. "I promise to assist you to my best capabilities." And it was also an unspoken vow that he was up to no good. They had to seal it with a vow, right? Just-not the unbreakable kind. That would certainly end in a complete disaster - and that was putting it lightly.
He flushed all shades of pink and red when Shera announced that she would stick with Daehyun, returning a grateful smile. He would likely still go by Daniel and be self-conscious around other people, but he'd already established that he felt comfortable around Shera. And yes, his current state of mad blushing and stuttering was his messed up version of being comfortable. "Hey-I see what you're doing there," he laughed. "Thank you, by the way. For-all of this."
Remembering that they were still in the changing room, having the deepest conversations a pair of eleven year olds could possibly have, Daehyun asked, "What else do you need to get?" He also needed to change out of the shirt and pants he still had on before he forgot and left wearing them instead of the clothes he'd come in. |

He also needed to change out of the shirt and pants he still had on before he forgot and left wearing them instead of the clothes he'd come in. Managing to fight the toothy grin, Shera pulled an equally serious expression before holding out her pinkie to make the vow with him. Right after they had linked pinkies, she lost herself to the giggles that were building inside of her. "When we get to Hogwarts we need to talk to the charms Professor... and got through the books in the library to start working out what we can do!"
He saw what she was doing? And he was thanking her for... shopping with him? Her head tilted to the side, eyebrows furrowing in confusion. "What?" "I was thinking about getting a pair of dress robes. Mama said you never know when you need a pair of dress robes," she finished thoughtfully. "You said you didn't need anything else, right?" |
